Acubens was hit full in the face with the unmistakable coppery taste of chaos in her mouth. But not just chaos. Negaverse. It was too late, she hadn't noticed it until just now, as she landed soundlessly on the rooftop behind just such a monster. The officer stood facing the city below, considering something Acubens didn't care to imagine. Something terrible, of her experience with the negaverse was anything to judge by. It had been limited, granted, but it had been enough.

The scars the crisscrossed Acubens body began to tingle at the sight of the officer.

Whatever it was the officer was thinking. Whatever she was planning, Acubens wanted no part of it. Maybe she hadn't been felt yet. Maybe she could sneak away before whatever the officer wanted became painfully apparent. The only problem with that plan was that naked fear had rooted Acubens to the spot, focing her to sit and watch the officer until she made a move. Acubens could only pray that her legs would work then.

As the officer turned to face Acubens, she readied herself. The officer didn't feel as powerful as Bischofite had... though time and pain may have warped Acubens' memory. She certainly didn't have the same look about her. She looked... like she was trying. What she was trying to do, Acubens was unsure. And it was the unknown about this officer that set her nerves crackling with anxiety. She could feel herself closing in on her center, rounding like an animal through her shoulders. She was lowering, just slightly, for a more stable center of balance. Whereas the officer tried to look proud and tall, Acubens was trying to look as vicious as possible. But there was no attack. Why was there no attack? Was this officer meant to be a distraction? Had Acubens walked directly into a trap?

And then the officer's statement shocked Acubens out of her fear. Her nerves fizzled down and she straightened herself, unsure of what to do next. This had to be a trap... there was no other rationale for how calm the officer was. Acubens fell back into her defensive stance, and actual growl emanating from the base of her throat.

"Attack and set whatever plan you have for me in motion? No thanks, honey. I was born at night, but I wasn't born last night."

Wait hang on... she wasn't going to attack? And now she was talking about... violins? Acubens' mantra of Trust no Nega b***h echoed in her mind as she stretched her sense to feel someone -- anyone else around her. She couldn't feel anything but... that didn't mean that there wasn't a cat suppressing the auras. Or was Acubens being paranoid... could anyone blame her? Everything that the negaverse had put her through... everything that it had done to her... but could she really hold a whole faction accountable for the actions of a few?

Except for that it wasn't just a few. True, Bischofite had sought her out and destroyed her, but the faction as a whole hadn't done much better. The chaos at the convention, the ambush when she was still White Moon. And recently the hospital fiasco. Over and over they proved themselves nothing but bloodthirsty monsters, capable only of deceit and horror. Why should this one be any different?

And then there was the part about the violin... was that her weapon? Acubens knew that weapons began fairly useless for negaverse officers... how would having her weapon make her enjoy the view more? Acubens liked puzzles, like a lot. But this was a bit much. The agent turned her back and Acubens considered attacking while her guard was down. But if she did that... she would be no better than...

Acubens was flung back in time for a moment, plummetting from the roof of a church to what she would hope would be her death, but painfully was only the beginning of her demise. When she returned she approached the officer cautiously, keeping her magic on the tip of her tongue should she need it.

"What would you start with that violin," she asked, caution clear in her voice.

Soooo the violin wasn't her weapon? Or at least that's what she was telling Acubens. She took another careful step closer to Tantalite and looked around her again. She couldn't feel anything, but that didn't mean a cat wasn't dampening any signatures. But what cause would anyone have to ambush Acubens? She was just a foot soldier. That's all. But the thought did nothing to calm Acubens nerves. She kept her eyes moving, searching for a change in her surroundings.

"What brings me here? Just... on my way down town to gather some energy, I guess." She answered with a shrug once the humming faded away. "You?"
