Change always seemed to beget more change, as far as Lestenna knew. Equilibrium was difficult to achieve, and would be a long time still in coming yet. A new weyr, a new continent, and new routines to match. She reveled in the more intense training High Reaches had made part of their lives; it was more than enough to push all thoughts of her previous weyr far from her mind. Uridith had flourished in her new home as well, making swift allies (or friends, she supposed) with a number of the others, both bronze and otherwise. She'd almost seemed to grow swifter, stronger, even more gloriously glimmeringly bright.

Oh. Actually, now that she looked closer...well. She had just thought that change begat more change, hadn't she?

You've always been so regular about it though, Uri, dear. She ran a gentle mental thought along the jaw of the now obviously glowing gold. The dragon rumbled quietly, shifting to her feet. The sun was just dipping beyond the ridge of the caldera that made up the peak of High Reaches, and the spires of stone cast long streaks of rich purple and deep reds across the sky. They reflected in the metallic skin of the gold as she languidly stretched her wings, leaving swirls and nearly runic patterns against the liquid shimmer there.

The seasons move differently now that we've come north. And the red star is a threat that none can ignore for long. My heart tells me that to wait would be foolish, that loss is imminent and gain sorely needed. My blood tells me that now's the time to take a risk or two, to dare, to...what was it those greenriders were doing the other night after dinner? The gold flared her wings and seemed to simply step up into the air and off her ledge, coasting effortlessly down towards the pens at the edge of the bowl. The purple reflections across her hide bled into the hue of her eyes, a rich maroon-ish color as she landed with a roar atop a pair of the drowsing beasts. The bleat of the beasts was drowned out, and the evening hush shattered by her trumpeting call, all the louder by the suddenness of it, startling several birds into flight.

A few were throwing bones, and some were using cards. Silly things, trying to predict the next threadfall, or other things. And blood only, dearheart. Lestenna had moved to stand, arms crossed at the edge of her ledge as she leaned against one of the retaining walls of their home. The gold had ever been obedient, and it took far less struggle to push her will onto the queen than many had to manage. Probably, she thought to herself, she hadn't even had to say it. Regardless, the gold obliged, swiftly draining the pair of beasts before calling out once more. A gamble then, or perhaps a wish. Her mental voice had grown more aggressive as the pounding lust of her pending flight slipped its leash to run free as she broadcast out to any and all dragons in and near the weyr. Come then, little browns and bronzes, and show me what you have to play tonight! Let's enjoy the evening, and divine what future has in store for us.

The dragon stood poised to leap skyward, a glittering patch of star-spun aubergine and gold, as tense as a bowstring to shoot away at the first sign of her males come to give chase.

Here it is folks, the moment you've all(?) been waiting for! A golden queen has risen over the frosty peaks of High Reaches—why not come along? Maybe you've got the luck of the draw! Please note that all males are welcome to chase, color does not matter. Non-High Reaches dragons may also chase, if they have an IC reason for being in the area. The winner of course will not and cannot be a blue, but they're welcome to do their best!

On Uridith:
Pros: Loving, determined, emotionally sturdy, fierce.
Cons: Whimsical, overprotective, poor at taking advice, blindly faithful.
Uridith is a passionate dragon matched to a passionate rider. Born for greatness, she loves all her family, and all her family includes everyone at (or at least, loyal to) High Reaches. She is dotingly kind, and often overprotective of those who are good to her family. This same sense of desire to protect what is hers often becomes overbearing, and rather irritating to those 'blessed' with her protection, but she cares not. As long as they stay safe she will continue to remind them to watch their landings and not chew too fast and not associate with those dangerous rogue and pirate types. Even right out telling her that you don't want her doting on you would do no good—her feelings are stronger than the shell she hatched from, and she's sure you're just trying to look out for her in turn. No, no, that's fine, she's a gold, it's her duty and pleasure to mind everyone else.

And yes, she is a gold. And as a gold, she's certain that she knows best (though maybe Lestenna knows a bit more, sometimes) for everyone. And because she's already made up her mind on what she thinks is right, it is infuriatingly hard to change her mind about anything, let alone give her advice that she bothers to listen to. She makes up her mind and then acts on it; more often than not without fully thinking through the long term consequences of her actions, which leaves her seeming dangerously flighty at times. And why shouldn't she act on a thought as soon as it comes to her? What's that? Last time? Oh dear, that had to have been someone else! surely she'd remember if she'd done something so foolish. No, no, it's her job to look out for and protect against that sort of thing, sweetie. Now step back and watch her work!

On Lestenna:
Pros: Passionate, caring, resilient, hopeful.
Cons: Passionate, distrusting, negative, savage when pushed.
A hard but fair life reared Lestenna up to be similarly hard but fair. Always striving to show her worth, to be of use, to be helpful, to make her way and an honest living. Life is about your place in it, and earning that place with your own two hands and the deeds you can do. There is pride to be found, and honor, in an honest living, working with one's hands and finding pleasure in whatever your lot in life is. Or at least that's what Lestenna was always told, and believed for sixteen turns of her life. That the world was good, and bettered by those in it who led good lives, and that those who chose the wrong paths, the dark ways and dishonest ones would be found out and reap what they sowed.

Then came famine and outlaws and thread, and things changed. A harsh wake up call shook her, and left the young woman filled with a great well of anger and sorrow, masked beneath disinterest and cheerful keeping-on. She hides her fury well, though occasional cracks in the facade she's made let through glimpses of the passion inside—both good and bad. As great as her anger at the enemies in her life might be, the sorrow of losing friends and family and a gentle way of life, so greatly burns her joy. Still bright, though contained in the face of threats seemingly from all sides, she knows when to keep her feelings in check and when to let them blaze out of control.

She has always liked to think that those who do good will come to good ends, and when thread came she felt that she was vindicated in that belief. But at a price, of course. She's seen friends side with the same invaders that had unsettled their home. Seen them forget, forgive what happened before. The raids. The fighting. While her own convictions remained strong, it was only too clear that those around her were becoming weaker, turning to regard their once-enemies as if they deserved to be among them. Because so many had gone that way, making friends and forgetting their loyalty to the rightful rulers of Hold and Hall, she became increasingly distrustful over the last decade of life. Always one to keep her feelings locked away, and her thoughts close to the vest, she has become even more reluctant to show anything but a (false) face of contentment until she has the measure of a person. If she must wait alone to make her moves, she will. But she will not forget, and when the day comes, she will not forgive those who have wronged her and hers in any way, nor those who have come to love those she would call enemies, or cast aside morals and traditions.

And Faranth have mercy on that day, because she will not.

Hopefully you're all ready to roll some dice, because everyone knows Shinos loves D&D!

Rules/Info:
‣All males at HR/in the area are welcome to join in.
‣Only a brown or bronze can win (but really I love blues that are into golds, so they're free to try!)
‣Each round will last two days, so everyone has some time to get at it.
‣If you roll for your entry for the round, but don't find time to fill your post in with RP before the round ends, your points for that round will be halved.
‣If you do not post at all for a round your score will be 0 for that round. You are not ejected from the flight. This allows those who cannot post for some reason or other to still progress.
‣I expect you to keep track of your own score, but I'll be watching too, so no fudging your numbers!
‣Lestenna would rather Uridith pick someone from the weyr, especially someone loyal to their traditionalist nature, but it is no guarantee that a foreign male won't win.
‣NPCs are fine, if you lack a color/location-apropos rider to toss any in for funsies! Go nuts!
‣At the end of five rounds, the winner will be chosen. If any male matches Uridith's final score, he will automatically win. If none match, the male who exceeds her score will win. If more than one exceeds her score, or none do, I will roll to randomize a winner from the top three scoring males.
‣This clutch will be laid at High Reaches, and if the father is a resident, Uridith will allow (and even encourage) him to visit the clutch. If the father is a non-native, she might try to convince him to make his rider join up. :V
‣MH has requested not to win if she enters, even if her potential entry comes in first.
‣The player of the winning male will have the option to help design a hatchling for the pending clutch!

It was a slow day that just saw Gareth and A'dras sitting out on their ledge. The older male had his feet propped upon Gareth, enjoying the peace and quiet for once. His eyes were closed as he was leaned back in his chair. He found himself mulling over the fact that it had been some time since a Gold had risen, something that he noticed hadn't been lost on his companion. The large bronze seemed to itch a the chance to prove himself, not only in his physical prowess but his mental as well. It had never been lost on him that his dragon, for a dragon, was at times smarter then he was, the wiser of the two.

Gareth for his part was watching the skies slowly, he could almost feel like there was something in the air, perhaps he was just wishfully thinking but he didn't truly know. A bugle call from the edge of the bowl caught his attention and he lifted his large head, his eyes searching the skies. If A'dras had heard it, he hadn't moved. Just as he was about to lay his head back upon the stone, there was the voice, entering his mind and speaking out, coaxing and tempting him. There was no hesitation in his movement as his coiled form sprung up suddenly, knocking A'dras' feet off of the perch and causing the man to fall backwards in his chair.

Gareth what? The speech that came to him was cut off as his feelings of the flight lust that was beginning to be awoken washed over A'dras. It was a feeling the older man knew all too well and he wondered what lovely gold had risen this day to call forth his dragon.

Moving effortlessly through the sky and towards where he knew she awaited, Gareth lighted upon the ground near where she was poised and waiting for him, and others to appear. A beauty always, dear Uridith. Gareth glanced around the area before turning his attention back to her, a bit surprised he had been the first to appear. He had always been a dragon of few words at least in the beginning, that would change as the flight continued on.

If there was one thing Jacomus often ceded to, it was that the dragon decided and the rider complied. It had, in the past, opened him up far more personally to mingling with every partner that took his fancy, male or female. He'd been open-minded about it, of course, growing up in a Weyr. One was not Weyr-bred, after all, without being fully aware of just what it meant to have dragons around. When a green or gold rose to mate, the passion of the moment would effect everybody.

He was only half-surprised, then, when Kraketh came out of between over High Reaches Weyr. "What are we here for, Kraketh?"

The dark bronze dragon let out a bugel, A Queen rises this evening, J'mus! I am compelled.

The statement brought confusion for a moment, as Kraketh landed. "A queen rises?" He looked about, climbing down. Surely he'd stick out and be accosted by the Weyrleaders. It wasn't every day a pirate showed up at High Reaches, after all. Striding to the nearest stairs out of the bowl, Jacomus looked about. His eyes fell upon a queen who was positively glowing. Something about her seemed familiar... What was it? Shaking his head, Jacomus went looking for a good spot to watch and wait.

Kraketh, in the mean time, flew up to the edge of the bowl. His eyes whirled with anticipation of the flight.

T'at was....still not entirely sure what to make of High Reaches. It was a strange place, but at the least, he and his dragon could take their rest here. His hands were across one wing-joint, head rested on his dragon's hide as the two simply breathed together, relaxing in the morning sun. Just existing, feeling like they belonged, it was a new sensation. One that T'at fully welcomed. His hands soothed over one old scar from their travels, remembering when he hadn't been sure that his dragon would make it. The memory was almost too much to bear, making the boy shudder.

Nessuth had been watching T'at since His had laid to rest. He was on edge today, his nose flaring slightly as his whirling eyes studied a small, fragile face. His was so upset still, after the event that had left his wings as they were...but still. They were both well, and there was hardly any reason to dwell on the past aside from ensuring that it had not happened again. They had been too long dwelling on the ill, so the sudden sound of the call had the dragon glancing idly up from his position...and oh, then the voice. He could tell that his was feeling the sensation that came often with a flight, and oh,
was he excited now. A GOLD was calling, and he could not help the low sound as he slowly stood, nudging T'at to his feet.

/T'atmine...Listen....I wish to try, if you will entertain the notion..../ The boy sighed, but nodded in acceptance. Very well,
let Nessuth enjoy himself. The dragon had been through quite a lot, and deserved a bit of fun....even if the strange feeling that came from such intent was...a bit much. Nostrils flaring, the brown idly took his way to her, letting his body drift slowly down, smaller than most, he was aware. A lovely thing,
this gold, and it was daring of him to think himself...in the running, /It is an honor to see you. He murmured, wings folding to his sides as he glanced at his Rider, finally arriving in to the bowl, then back to the queen,
respectfully paying a due.

T'at rolled his eyes at his dragon's antics, sighing and playing his fingers across one of the marks he'd put on his own body. Very well. They would indulge this flight.

NPC - R'Kesh and Brown Avroth

Avroth woke suddenly from a nap, what was that? His thoughts slow to come to him as he furled his wings up. He shook his head to clear it, disturbing His, who had been using him as as pillow and Avroth grumbled, shoving his rider away. R'Kesh just groaned and rolled over, reaching for the wineskin, finding it empty, crawling to his bed where a stale bottle stood beside it. Taking a drink then passing out again.

Avroth sighed, both angry at His but understanding the reason, being privvy to His' nightmares and memories. He slowly shook his head and stood, shaking his whole body, ridding himself of the muzzy headedness he was receiving from His. Abruptly he realised what was going on and his mood lifted immediately. He considered informing R'Kesh but grunted, then flew to the weyrbowl just in time to see the Gold rise and two Bronzes and a Brown take to the air after her.

With a grunt the extremely average Brown that probably no one even remembered, launched himself into the air, determined to do something about the Gold, he could be more than just average, a nobody, even if for a moment.

"Oh wondrous one of golden gleam, won't you let a Brown achieve his dream? Your hide glitters and dazzles with light, dear beauty, let us have tonight"

NPC S’kint and Bronze Loroth

Loroth had been around for a while. He had seen many golds rise and even a few fall. The delight of the chase made for an interesting break from the drills and training that he went through every day. He was intrigued by this gold as well. She was new to the Weyr but had already made her mark. He had been about to start drilling and was warmed up already. A fortunate thing as he was determined this time, this time, to succeed and catch his very own Gold.

Lovely lady. You do us quite the honor to rise here. Loroth, was, as ever, courteous and kind in his words. S’kint, who honestly found Lestenna beautiful if a bit forceful, was already changing gears and preparing for his part in the flight. He would not cost his Loroth this.

NPCs - R'yer and Bronze Korvath
(R'yer is 36 (24 when impressed) & Korvath is 12 turns.)

Korvath had been fast asleep on his ledge, his big bronze body practically radiating reflected heat as the dragon sunbathed, one of his favourite hobbies behind flaming and flying. Resting on the dragon's foreleg was R'yer, his rider, a book open in one hand as he read silently. The man was a total contrast to his dragon, quiet and dark both in colouring and mood. An experienced rider at 36, he acted more like a 63 year old, avoiding most social gathering and sticking to his own company. Korvath, by comparison, was a young, healthy and bright bronze. One of the lightest of his colour, which should have looked washed out but which when paired with his bubbly and enthusiastic personality, was simply.. right. The pale bronze hide fair glowed in the sunlight, though his glow was most certainly from the heat and not the ethereal shimmer of the Gold down below. All of a sudden his head snapped up, dislodging R'yer's book from the man's lap and prompting a loud expletive from the previously relaxed rider.

"What in the shards are you doing!?" He grumbled as Korvath's head shot round, twisting this way and that as his large wings suddenly stretched, half spreading. "Korvath." R'yer stated, his long practiced tone commanding his dragon's oft scattered attention. "What has gotten into you?"

Oh R'yer! Korvath cried in obvious excitement. It is Uridith! She rises! R'yer startled, turning to look out across the bowl where, indeed, the golden dragon stood all a-fire, with a rapidly swelling gathering of dragons surrounding her. "Oh no...." He grumbled bleekly, already knowing what Korvath was about to say. I must go! Yup, and there it was.... "Shards..." The annoyed rider could only sigh with long suffering frustration. Korvath rose for any and all greens, delighting in the chase more than anything, except perhaps flaming itself. And R'yer had long since been forced to get used to the unwelcome intrusion of such events into his daily routine. And this time it was Gold Uridith. He could not expect any less of his dragon than for Korvath to fly with even greater enthusiasm than usual.

"Fine.. go...." R'yer dismissed Korvath with a resigned wave as he hopped down off his dragon's leg and quickly stepped out of the way of those giant wings. "Just.. behave..." The last was said to an empty ledge as Korvath had already sprung up high into the air, his wings snapping wide to carry him in a glide directly down the weyr and to Uridith. Landing with an excited trumpet, Korvath accidentally shouldered into another dragon in his eagerness to join the group. A great day! He called to no one dragon in particular, though he did at least recall his manners enough to grin at Uridith. Good flight! He said, encouragingly.

It is time, Mine. Fianth has already left, and Uridith glows brighter still. Eveleth turned her blue-green gaze towards the Bowl, her elegant swishing with impatience. While a small part of her twinged with jealousy, seeing how all the bronzes and browns were calling out their love for the younger gold, she did not feel threatened.

She had her mate, after all, or at least her favorite. And she felt content that he was not yet among the gaggle of bronzes and browns.

"Yes, yes, we're going, we're going!" For her part, Zheria had not been entirely prepared. While she had taken note that the gold had looked a bit brighter, that hadn't meant she had put her entire life on hold. She had made sure to stick close to Eveleth, and had warned Olliah of the same. Unfortunately, by the time word of Uridith's rising had reached her, she had been in the middle of a bath!

So much for working out her stress. She'd scrambled out of the bath as fast as she could, and was quite certain soap was still well lathered in her hair. Well, it didn't matter, not really, though Faranth help anyone who caught her looking so disheveled.

With damp hair, and hastily thrown on clothes, the woman did not relish jumping Between, but there was no way to get around that. She wasn't going to risk Uridith's flight nor her own Beloved by taking time to thoroughly dry. They needed to leave, and they needed to leave now.

"Care for a bit of sunbathing, sweet? I think a trip to Southern sounds lovely, don't you?" Somewhere far from the cold kiss of High Reaches. Somewhere she could soak up some sunshine, and perhaps swim in some warmer waters. A remote isle sounded perfect, and she had a favored spot in mind. She'd need another bath when all was said and done, but for now, she at least had a good hour or two to enjoy herself. Even with a head full of soap and wet hair.

So it was, Zheria scrambled up her beloved's side, and gave the golden hide an affectionate pat. Quickly, and quietly, the golden pair took off. They barely got above the peaks before they disappeared into the cold of Between. Both rider and dragon knew that it was truly Uridith's time to shine.

((Now time to make up a silly little NPC. Remember guys, I've opted out of winning, but he's going to give it his all anyway. gaia_star

S'del and bronze Kindeth))

She rises, she rises! Oh mine, the beautiful, amazing, wonderful Uridith rises! She rises! The bronzes excitement hit S'del like a ton of bricks. There was a mixture of both pleasure, lust, and joy, and the man had trouble pushing through. He had just entered the Dining Hall in hopes of getting a bite to eat, but quite suddenly, his hunger wasn't for food. It was for something else, and if the world suddenly took on a golden hue, it was fully his dragon's fault.

A gold flight!

His young bronze was young and already chomping at the bit to chase. The lovely bronze didn't even have to ask permission; he'd already spread his wings wide, and had coasted down close to the feeding pens. His eyes whirled a mix of blue-purple, with the purple quickly dominating. He thrummed out his joy, not willing to tear his eyes off the lovely, star-speckled queen. Isn't she a thing of beauty? Perfection incarnate! The young bronze practically oozed poetry to his rider, which S'del found both amusing an ridiculous.

Shouldn't you be telling her that? He questioned, trying to navigate out of the Dining Hall and towards where Lestenna might (or might not) be.

Kindeth said nothing, though S'del could feel the dragon's sudden coyness, and perhaps a bit of embarrassment. If he could have blushed he would have. The young bronze was still a bit green when it came to talking to women, it seemed. But then, S'del could hardly blame him. He wasn't exactly well versed when it came to these sorts of things, either. In fact, S'del just wasn't that good when it came to approaching anyone, male or female. His oaf of a bronze loved to chase, but had yet to actually successfully capture a mate his own.

Maybe this time, if only because he knew Kindeth wanted it.

You're... You're glorious, Uridith! You're the prettiest gold in the Weyr. You would do well with such a handsome bronze like me! So it was, the bronze gave another bugle of excitement, little caring how ridiculous he might look next to some older, more experienced dragons.

NPC V'Kenti & bronze Takarath

V'Kenti was nose deep in a book a** Takarath layed contentedly in the sunlight. It was a rare moment when the two found themselves doing nothing except enjoying each others company and reading a book...or four. At least, it might have been. No sooner did they actually get settled did the pair hear a call in the air. Both looked at each other before looking towards the bowl. V'Kenti nodded to the now tense bronze in front of him as he put his book down. I must go. "I know. Be careful out there." V'kenti worried about Takarath, as he always did, but even more so with a gold flight. And even more than that with it being one of Takarath's first.

The bronze leaped into the air and found several others had beat him, no surprise but he would do his best. Being somewhat quiet like his rider, he said nothing. It wasn't meant as an insult but more that Taka didn't know what to say!

NPC T'sla & Bronze Oelorith

Oelorith was not a particular large or strong bronze, in fact he was lean with a body corded tightly with muscle. His wings were long, much longer, which gave him speed and stamina when he needed. He had been a gangly little thing when he had first hatched but T’sla adored his swift dragon. They made a great pair when they were of the same minds and chasing after the greens for fun. His hide was a dark brownish bronze tarnished in a lighter almost coppery rust color. T’sla always made sure to keep his hide shinning for fear others might think his dragon was actually dirty or a brown.

Tsla Came the deep rumbling voice, T’sla pushed it aside unanswered. He was currently leaning on a cavern wall in a darker area softly whispering to a green rider. He thought the lust he was feeling wasn’t flight lust; he didn’t know that the gold queen had risen in the air. After so many years of chasing around sometimes it was hard to tell which from which.

Tsla! Came the more demanding voice as the bronze poked his rider again. The bronze had been enjoying the sunset, the end of his tail curling and unfurling like a large content feline. The vision of the gold had caught his eye immediately; he’d risen to his feet as he watched her. She gave her siren call and he’d almost jumped off to join her. Ive no time for your games, a gold rises and I aim to catch her!

Go, then. Catch your prize, I’m busy. Was the annoyed response from the rider, he would of course never deny his dragon such a prize as long as he didn’t bother his own cat and mouse game. If his dragon did not catch his gold, T’sla wanted to make sure he caught this greenrider!

Oelorith was off the ledge swiftly, falling towards the ground like an arrow before snapping his wings open to glide to the pen. He couldn’t catch two beasts like some of the much larger bronze dragons, but he was quick and he used it to his advantage. Don’t forget to… T’sla began, I know! The bronze dug into the first beast and bled it dry. Golden Uridith! Fly quickly, fly swiftly, leave the others behind so I may catch you! T’sla smiled, he secretly hoped his dragon would win.

Character Profile

T'nor and Bronze Tarenoth

'Mine?' The familiar voice of his dragon creeped into his conscience and he had an inkling about what he was about to ask. He could feel it, the raw need and pure desire of lust that was growing within the bronze. He was an experienced rider so it wasn't something that was a bother to him now a days but at least he wasn't in a place that this would cause an issue for him.

They had just recently transferred to HR and it would seem to be it was just in time if a gold was rising. 'Yes Tarenoth?' He rolled onto his back and waited for the question to come, a smile upon his face the whole time. 'Not that I really have to ask, but do you mind if I fly Gold Uridith?' He could feel the dragons want for him to say yes, not that he would never tell Tarenoth no. Especially not to a Gold flight.

Sitting up he swung his feet over the edge of his bed and ran his hands through his hair. 'By the Egg you better catch her. I may come out and watch if I feel you've got some good competition you overgrown wherry.' He could almost feel Tarenoth laugh, when had been the last time he had flown a Gold? He supposed it didn't matter, he was flying one now or about to anyway.

Making himself get up he dressed and figured he'd find a nice ledge to watch from. Alone.

Tarenoth didn't need a second word from his rider. The large bronze bellowed his challenge back at Uridith and made his way towards the bowl where she waited. He would do his best to fly her this day and was bound and determined to win if possible. Show me what you've got young Queen. He thrummed as he came into view of the glowing gold, this was going to be a fine day indeed. He couldn't wait to see her fly.

Oh how wonderful, really. Truly a turnout worthy of her golden self! Usually Uridith was more humble than she was hifalutin, but when it was her time to rise, well. It was a good thing that the weyr's other goldriders had been quick to get their queens gone. The weyr was hers tonight, these males were hers. The ones clever and bold enough to attend her, to come bid her all due praise and attention. It was enough to simmer any gold's blood—though hers was already sizzling away. The blood she'd sucked from the herdbeasts filled her belly, diffusing throughout her limbs to leave her itching to take to the sky.

Gareth, Nessuth, she purred to the first two males to arrive (or at least those she recognized; the second bronze was strange to her, and she regarded him with interest, but an unusually watchful eye) as her wings snapped, not lifting her yet, but sending currents of air rushing about. And daring Avroth, Loroth, Korvath too... The turnout was growing by the moment, and though she'd meant to be off and away, she held back. If fate meant to keep dealing more and more into her claws, well, she'd wait to see what all she had to work with first. No need to preemptively make a sub-par play, after all! Kindeth, so bold to join us here, and oh, here come Takarath and Oleorith and Tarenoth too? Well then. Soon you'll be so many there'll be no air for my wings to catch! I'd stay and trade sweet words with you all, but...

Without further delay the gold screamed again, rending the evening from stillness into swift action. She sprang up, soaring just past the gathered males' heads, tail cracking dangerously behind, and thundered aloft. She was no lightning green arrow turned loose from a bow, zipping swiftly out of range, but she was fast enough. Her lovely suitors were not built for speed either, and they fit her just fine. She set off on a slowly rising loop around the bowl, arcing up towards the lip of the caldera and towards the rainbow sky of ruddy clouds and darkening purple-blue, just as the first star winked awake above.

Above (and then below, as the gold churned upwards) Lestenna remained poised, watching with folded arms as her partner summoned quite a number of males to join her. Far more than had been had at their weyr before, and she felt a surging rush of pride for the gold. This was exactly what she was owed, and it was time at last that she received her due.

Here we go boys! It takes strength to take off from standing, and this flight is meant to go high and long, not swiftly or be particularly acrobatically. Time to get in a good first impression, and don't stumble off the starting blocks! For round one, roll Strength + Speed! Your roll is a basis for how well your dragon's done. Obviously the goal is to match or do better than Uridith, but scores are cumulative, so no fear if you lag behind at the start!

Avroth had been primed, body coiled like a tunnelsnake about to strike. There was nothing average about him this day, without sparing a second thought for his Rider, he threw himself into the air after the Gold. "My darling Uridith how you shine, I'll be yours, will you be Mine?" He crooned, his very average self finding the going easier to gain height, than his larger, heavier fellows.

Loroth accepted the challlenge presented by the lovely gold and launched himself into the air to give chase. SHe deserved nothing but the best performance from him and he was bound and determined to give it. Even if he did not catch in the end, Loroth wanted to come away with the knowledge that he had done well.

To that end, he might have been a little too forceful in the beginning. As she seemed to be playing with them more than trying to out pace them. So Loroth had to quickly scale back his power so as to not put himself out of the running in a different way.

Lovely Uridith, what sort of adventure will you lead us on today? I am sure whatever it happens to be, it will test us all quite thoroughly.

Watching as more and more males arrived, Gareth turned all of his focus and attention towards Uridith. Back when he had been younger he had caught a Gold of his own at Monaco, but there was something about the young Gold before him that he found so alluring and tempting. His muscles twitched beneath his hide as he listened to her greet them all, his whirling eyes watching her every move.

And then she was gone, up in the air and away from them. He was quick to follow, his poised muscles snapping into action as his wings unfolded and spread, allowing him to take to the air in a couple of wing beats. A large bronze, though he was, he managed to gain height and speed quickly, catching up to Uridith and slightly moving more ahead of her. He spun around, the world turning upside down as he turned to look at her.

Lovely Uridith, think of the time we would have embraced. His words were soft and sweet, a deep rumbling of his voice as his speed now moved towards her.

A'dras had turned his attention to the sky, having righted his chair and seeing Uridith rise up above the bowl. He could feel the flight lust entering his head and he was glad he was alone. There was an urge to find, to catch, to find the beautiful Uridith's rider, but he kept himself still, his eyes easily finding Gareth as he shot off, rising into the air.
