The whole of the world existed within a tree. The tree itself existed within a clearing. Small eyes peering out from a whole would see movement from time to time. There were even sounds calls that had more tones than the flying things but meant nothing. From time to time the lone boy would be curious but remained rooted.
Here was his world and his duty. Just what that duty was existed beyond his understanding but the strong feeling to stay chained him. Against all odds, providence seemed to look after the foal offerings of food and just enough water existed to nurture the growing child's body while his mind just existed.
Never had a story been read, a warm word or a smile shared; yet, the boy could almost know them in dreams. The dreams sometimes were vivid filled with things he'd never known.
On this day, his tree failed him. Rain found the hole that nurtured the boy. Weather seemed to tell him to move, to venture but for all the bravado he was scared. What was out there? How much was 'out there'? Would he be able to find his way home?
In the end, he finally crawled out of his little hole in the tree. Standing on well used legs, the little boy started to walk in a straight line so he wouldn't get lost. Today, he'd see farther than his whole world.Tartara Seabreeze Photobucket is being a butt I can't get the child image so I am using the teen.

Today was the day!
It was supposed to be yesterday, but he decided a nap was more important.
So today was the TRUE day! Or at least, that's what he had started out optimistically as. He was going out to visit Star Grove to visit his family and pick up a few supplies from the mill. He was getting rather spoiled with such products like coffee now that it was up and running.
But unlike yesterday which had been clear and sunny and beautiful, the once blue sky was quickly becoming cloudy. And he was too far along to go back home. So...forward it was, hoping that it would just remain overcast.
Alas, as he continued forward he felt a drop. Followed by another, and another. Soon it was pouring down upon his head. With a sigh he moved his arm over himself while conjuring up a shield. It was weak, because he wasn't particularly thinking about love, but it didn't need to be strong. Just enough to shield him from the rain. Heh. Shield from the rain. Using a shield. Shame there wasn't anyone around to hear his brilliant pun.
As if on cue, a rustling followed by a form pushed into his field of view. A pae! A young boy at that! What was he doing out in the rain? Not that he was particularly one to talk at the moment. "Hey! Are you okay?!" Waitaminute. That was a faun. Shouldn't he...be generally...avoiding fauns? With the whole Raken blowing up their home thing he was sure a few fauns would love to get a hold of his brother.
Well. Too late now. What's the worst that could happen?

One hoof in front of the other, move in a line so you can get back. Words of encouragement started to dull in the growing mud. Just where was he going again? The pull to move seemed to flee the child as he stood still to think over his move.
There was and odd sound pattern drawing his muddy eyes towards a tall thing. It was tall, some feather stuff on head as he had. Only, it seemed to be looking at him. Did it think he made the sounds? Probably not, those things didn't seem to pull much towards his safe places.
After staring a few more moments, he turned back on his hoof and started to walk another direction.Tartara Seabreeze He didn't understand he was being spoken too. Also, I think Tris' pun was funny xd

The young male froze and turned to him, and the fae waved in response. But as the faun stared and him, and he stared back, abruptly the teen started walking away. That wasn't polite! "Hey - Hey wait up!" In that moment he made a decision. Potential enemy or not, the boy was obviously young and out in the middle of the rain. He couldn't in good conscious just leave without making sure he was okay.
So the male quickened his pace to catch up with the other. "Are you lost? Is your home nearby?"

An ear flickered towards Tristian as Evergreen continued his walk. Only the weirdest thing seemed to be happening, it followed him! At first, he did a double take as the tall thing seemed to squeaking at him. That made him a little uncomfortable, he didn't understand what it wanted.
Now starting to back up, he began to breath faster. Placing a hand on his chest he looked around began to panic. What did it want? Maybe if he squawked back the tall one would go about his way? Deep breath followed a trembling noise that could not be classified as pae. "Uuuuu?" High pitched and low together without any true syllable to its credit, but it was enough right?

No response from the teen, really? Was he afraid of him because he was a fae? "Hey! I won't hurt you! I just want to talk!" In fact, he wanted to do the exact opposite of hurting him. He wanted to help! Then the faun finally made his first sound.
Uuuu? "Uuuu?" Tristen mirrored the sound, but tinged in confusion. What did he mean by that? Was he calling for someone? Or something? Did he just walk into a trap?

Slowly he started to breath normally, ears forward and head cocked to the side. "Uuuu?" Was that something it understood? Curiosity overpowered fear as he moved one step forward before second guessing himself.
Stepping backward again, the otherwise mute child just stared. What did Uuu mean? Supposed it wasn't something negative otherwise this thing would have left or made more noise.

For some reason he didn't fully understand, the faun seemed to like it when he responded in the same tone! In fact, now that he thought about it, the boy seemed...different. Like an animal. The skittish way he regarded him, the step forward then step back. "Uuuuu?" He replied again, slowly lowering his arm to appear less threatening. It got him wet, but he had bigger fish to fry.
Slowly, very slowly, he lifted his hand up to his chest. "I'm Tristen...Tris-ten."

Huh, he made that sound again. Maybe it was it's call? "Uuuu!" There, how long did noise times last? Beings coming and going the calls seemed shorter then whatever this was. Shaking his head he was ready to leave this now, until the tall one did something else.
Watching the arms drop and the more wet, well that was funny. While he didn't make a laughing sound, he gave a wide open mouth and a dance. How did he go from not as wet to more wet? Another head tilt followed.
Now he was doing more strange things. Copying the male, Evergreen lifted a hand to his chest and, nothing. Touching it he looked down then back at Tristen as if Tristen had just tricked him.

The fae watched intently as the teen opened his mouth and did a little hop. Did he like that? It was like the faun was almost...like from a different area entirely in how it copied him. Not that he was much better at the moment, copying sounds.
When he looked back almost confused, Tristen gave a bit of a laugh. Maybe he could get a little closer, if he gained the others trust? The only way to gain the trust though, was to keep them interacting longer. Which meant entertaining the faun. So the kissed marked pae let his shield dissipate. He was going to materialize something else now, but he was going to do it a lot more showy than he needed to. For entertainment sake. He clapped his hands together, and slowly spread them a part. In the space between them, a pink dagger appeared with its hilt in his right palm. It was again, very weak. It would shatter against nearly anything, but it didn't need strength as it was just for show. "Dagger." He explained, though didn't know if the other was picking up on his naming technique. Tristen extended his right arm, holding out the dagger. Maybe he could convince the other to come to him instead? Make it his idea to close the distance.

Little wings fluffed out as he made a high pitched squeak sound. How did he do that?! Jaw hanging loosely, Evergreen started walking closer to the fae staring wide-eyed at the dagger now in his hand. The sounds didn't mean anything but shapes were something else.
One hoof in front of the other, the very young teen got within four feet of the fae before he seemed to realize it. So entranced with the changing shape he'd gotten ahead of himself.
Head tilted and eyes wide, the young male stayed still while his heart raced.

That's it. Come closer. Good possibly feral faun. He clapped his hands again, allowing the very fragile dagger to shatter before making it dissipate. More show. Then to replace it, he made a large, full body shield. Playing 'pop up stuff' though was draining. So he decided to cheat a little. His secondary power was to amplify the feeling of love. And while the faun certainly didn't love him, maybe there was a tiny bit of like considering he was so entertaining. He didn't know if amplifying like was the same as love, but he'd give it a shot, and let the power softly radiate off of him to influence the other.
"Shield. Shieeellld." With a soft grunt, he slowly lifted the item over his head. Cutting off the rain like an umbrella. And the reason he made it so large, was to fit the two of them. "Dry."

"Uuuu!" Great crickets the thing shattered! Evergreen jumped at least a foot off the ground holding his breath. His eyes went every which direction trying to make sense of what he'd just seen. Is that what those things were supposed to do?
Could he break anything like that?! Eyes wide he brought his hands up to protect his ears while dancing in place. Nothing made sense why did it break and how did the new thing appear? Stuck in a place between panic and entertained, nothing Tristen said reached him.
Suddenly, he just stopped moving, brain broken enough that he paused and just looked at the fae.Tartara Seabreeze TRist don't break the poor child!

Well, that was unexpected. Apparently one item appearing was fascinating and cool. But TWO items were just far too much, scaring the poor teen.
Should he just stop altogether? Making the shield disappear however might scare him further.
So, he'd keep the shield going. But wouldn't make anything else up. Slowly he lowered the item again, allowing the rain to come back plopping upon his head. Then, he extended the shield out towards the teen. "Shield."
