Exhaustion had done its job just as well as the painkillers had, one wearing her down and the other soothing her aches. She slept deeply until light began to filter through the curtains, moving to pull one of the soft pillows over her head. The movement brought a sharp sting to her skin, the dull throb returning in a way that she couldn't sleep through any more if she tried. With a soft groan she sat up, sliding to the edge of the bed. Katrina snagged her bottle of water after grabbing another one of the painkillers, taking a small sip to wash the pill down. She snagged the shirt that Kian had left for her as she slid out of the bed, taking it with her into the bathroom to change. Drawing the fabric of the shirt she'd been wearing over her head and the way it shifted her arms and adjusted the bandages hurt. She probably should have saved changing for after the drugs kicked in, but... Katrina pulled the button-down on, glad that the fabric was soft and the shirt was large enough to brush the back of her knees. Once it was buttoned she slid out of the guest room, heading down to the kitchen to see what she could find in the way of food.

When Kian woke up on his own without any intruptions he was a bit surprised but glad that the painkillers had done their job of keeping Katrina out. He went through his usual morning routine before changing into a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt. Heading down to the kitchen he pondered for a bit on what to make for breakfast. He suspected Katrina wouldn't sleep much more than eight hours. Even with the exhaustion the painkillers would wear off and the ache would probably be enough to wake up her. As he got out some bacon and started slicing think slices of fresh bread he heard doors opening, confirming his thoughts. By the time she appeared he was putting slices of french toast into one pan while bacon sizzled away in another. "Would you like eggs as well?"

The smell of food-- actually, properly cooking food-- distracted her from the dull, throbbing ache of her arms along with bruises from being thrown back against the alley wall that were just now starting to make themselves known. Katrina leaned against the counter for a moment, eyes closed as she let her other senses take things in. The cinnamon tickled her nose, going so well with the slight, sweet scent that she could only assume was vanilla, but almost completely drowned out by the bacon as it cooked, sizzled and snapped. She smiled as her eyes opened, sliding up onto a bar stool to in order to have a better view of the kitchen as well as the man moving around it. "Yes, please."

He smiled slightly before putting the slices of bread into a shallow pain he'd mixed up some egg, vanilla, and cinnamon in so they could soak. It was how his mother had always made french toast and he'd never bothered to change the recipe. He did tend to go for different bread and much thicker slices but that just came from personal preference. "Coffee or tea?" He looked over at her before getting back into the fridge for some more eggs. They got set on the counter by the stove before he flipped the bread over and then got down two mugs. "How are your arms this morning?"

"Still attached." A soft smirk touched her lips as she held up her hands, wriggling her fingers at him with minimal effort. She didn't lean against the counter on them, however, as she might have were they not bandaged, so the sensitivity was obviously still there. Later on she might power up to see if that would help speed up the healing process any.
"Tea, please. I think I slept well enough that I shouldn't need coffee." It generally made her jittery anyways in a way that even caffeinated teas didn't. "Would you like any help?"

"If you'd like to pick out some tea it's in the cabinet next to the fridge. I believe I can handle the rest of it." He nodded his head toward the cabinet as he spoke before turning his attention back to their breakfast. "Oh, the electric kettle has water in it as well if you want to turn it on." He flipped the bacon over before putting the french toast into a pan to start cooking. "How do you usually prefer your eggs?"

"Over easy, generally, unless someone warns me that the cook isn't all that great at flipping eggs." Katrina watched him for a moment longer before sliding down from the stool. She paused by the cabinet to start peering through his teas, smiling as she caught the packaging of the one she'd recommended when they first met. "You have cream, right?" Her brow quirked as she glanced his way, reaching out to flip the switch on the electric kettle to the 'on' position.

"Given I prefer mine that way I think i can manage to flip them." He laughed softly. "There is some in the fridge. The one in the glass bottle gets used for tea." While she made tea he continued to focus on breakfast. Once the toast was done he pulled it out of the pan before cracking four large eggs into it. While the eggs fried he checked the bacon and pulled it off the heat, setting it on some paper to drain, while he finished up. The eggs were flipped with only slight damage to one yoke. Once everything was done each plate got two slices of toast, two eggs, and three strips of bacon before he set them on the bar.

"Would you like a different tea or shall I fix yours the same way as mine?" She glanced up to Kian after filling a tea ball for herself, setting it down gently in the cup she'd gotten down from the cupboard. When the kettle was finished heating she'd pour the water over her own strainer while awaiting his answer. "Do you generally cook breakfast like this when it's just yourself?"

"You can make me whatever you are having. I'm sure it will go well with breakfast." He nodded as he set the pans in the sink to soak and got silverware out for them. "As for breakfast, i do. I prefer cooking something at home to eating out or any prepackaged things. Thought it is perhaps a bit simpler when I don't have company."

Since picking up the part time job at the Sugar Cub she'd become a bit better at preparing drinks for others, as opposed to simply tossing them together at home for herself. It was a bit easier to pay attention to steeping times and proper portioning when you wanted to be 100% certain that something tasted good. When she'd finished fixing both cups of tea she brought them over to where he'd set up breakfast, helping herself back up onto a stool carefully. "Everything smells wonderful... Thank you again, Kian."

"It's my pleasure." He walked around the counter so he could slide onto one of the seats himself. "It isn't often of late I've had pleasant company for breakfast." He did at least have to give it to Katrina that after her anger fizzled out last night she'd been a bit more amenable to be around. Kian wasn't sure it would last but for the moment it was appreciated. It also helped that she looked rather good wearing his shirt but that was something to dwell on another time.

"Does that mean that you've had unpleasant company for breakfast?" Her brow quirked as she looked to him while adjusting the plate in front of her, taking a moment to position it and shift her strips of bacon over to the other side before picking one up to take a bite off of the end. Most of her 'breakfasts' lately had consisted of sausage burritos heated up in the microwave, or a granola bar. On days where she decided to be 'fancy' she waited until she was at work to toss a smoothie together, all in all not taking the best care of herself. Satisfied with the first bite she set the bacon down, reaching for the syrup to lightly drizzle it along her french toast. Everything looked delicious and she was going to enjoy the treat that was being offered to her.

"On quite a few occasions though I don't tend to have the patience to let them finish their breakfast." He had thrown dates out to take a walk of shame and thrown out former partners for being rude. "I suppose it is a hazard when one's been around long enough." When she was done with the syrup he poured a bit on his toast before taking a bite.

"If the company was unpleasant I wouldn't think they'd really deserve breakfast-- Not breakfast like this, at least. Ever thought about putting together little brown breakfast bags with a granola bar, foil wrapped toaster pastry and a bottle of water?" A soft smirk had settled pleasantly onto her lips and, for the moment, she seemed distracted enough by breakfast and the light conversation to not find herself wondering when the pain medication would finish kicking in. "May I ask what you were out doing that you were up so late last night?"
