The healer that he'd run across had healed Gahiji up, making him feel better, as well as making him feel as though he could do anything! He waited, as she asked him to do, though he doubted that it was quite as much time as she would have wanted. How could he wait forever though when his prey of choice decided to so foolishly make itself know to him though? He'd been sitting down under the sparse trees of the oasis, enjoying the shade, when two of the armored beasts known as janarim appeared on the horizon. It was as though Atun himself in cahoots with Jonal was offering the beasts up to Gahiji to fight with! They were both of impressive size, making him think that they were not only formidable in size but in skill too!
It hadn't taken but a moment after seeing them that he was on his face, pulling his mask down over his face, and picked up his weapon. It was time for him to resume his hunt. He would take the janarim on, kill them, eat them, and use their hides as armor! Thick, powerful armor that would allow him to take on even more dangerous beasts! Soon he'd have a set of armor that would allow him to be prepared to fight against anything Tendaji had to offer, yaotl included! Just the thought of fighting with those massive beasts was enough to put him in a grand mood as he charged forward toward the pair of janarim.
As he approached the pair of them turned toward him, teeth barred, growling at him in a manner that said they weren't pleased with his approach. They weren't fleeing though. In fact it appeared as though they saw no reason at all why they should run... and to be honest Gahiji would have agreed. He was only one person after all they had no reason to run. Besides if they had run it would only have made his job more difficult... not that the difficulty of a situation had ever slowed him down. Lifting his weapon up he charged forward, the yaotl tooth scoring a hit against one of the janarim, though instead of sinking deep it seemed to instead ricochet off the think hide of the beast. Instead of any blood to be seen there was just a bit of a scratch on the armor, one among many from the looks of it.
Instead of anger though Gahiji only became that much more excited as this was the sort of battle that he was looking for. An easy battle would mean that janarim weren't worth his time, meaning that maybe their hides were worth being made into armor... but it would appear as though he was wrong. They were able to reflect his yaotl tooth spear which made him only want to wear their hides that much more. With the help of the Drow skins he'd already gathered and the janarim skins he could get from these guys he was going to have a rather formidable set of armor indeed.

The moment that the head of his spear struck against the side of the janarim the two of them seemed to explode into violence, one of them charging at Gahiji with snapping jaws, the other one taking a shot at him with it's thick tail. Two attacks that didn't seem very coordinated to Gahiji given the results of them. He was hit with the tail first, which sent him flying away from the snapping jaw, thus saving him from being savaged. Said snapping janarim gave a snarl and moved to charge at him, full speed ahead, mouth open, as though it meant to sink it's many sharp teeth into Gahiji the moment that it got close enough to do so... only to have the head of Gahiji spear shoved into it's mouth, the sharp part easily ending the creature's life when it hit something vital.
He was barely able to pull the weapon free of it's mouth as it's charge continued a couple steps before it collapsed into a twitching, lifeless heap. Surging to his feet he shook his weapon off and lifted it back up, pointing it at the other janarim that had started to circle around him, its eyes almost glowing with intensity. It was the look of a feral beast that wanted nothing more then to tear Gahiji apart limb from limb... and he was nothing but excited by the prospect. The more dangerous the beast he was facing off with the better as the more dangerous they were the harder his heart thudded in his chest. Sure his ribs were aching where he'd been hit by the tail and he was likely to end up with massive bruises there... but it was completely worth the hides he was going to get from this!
Lunging forward he thrust his spear out in rapid strikes, the tip of it striking against the janarim before him a couple of times. Some of them merely bounced off, a couple left behind small wounds, and one buried itself deep in the underbelly of the beast. It seemed that the armor there was softer? Knowing this he would skip using it in his armor but the rest of it would be useful. The janarim came at him them, body checking him, sending him flying a good distance, with him landing hard in the sand. Instead of laying still though he rolled with the throw, got up to his feet, and went charging forward to attack again. The battle continued as such, with him tossed about a bit, but with the janarim also taking a lot of damage... and ended when a lucky strike it just the right spot in the janarim's throat, leaving it to bleed out in moments.
The moment that the janarim was dead and no longer a threat to him he set to work. He needed to field dress the beasts, remove the hides and the meat, wrap the meat in the hides, and move it quickly before any scavengers arrived. After that he could actually get to work on the difficult stuff.
