She had been out exploring and was currently taking the time to look at the clouds. It was mid-day and she was starting to grow a little hungry and decided to go look for something to munch on. Flicking her tail behind her happily she found some nice wheat plants to chew on for some oats. She knew that she shouldn't wander too far from home so she kept a careful eye on her surroundings so she could remember things that were familiar in case she got preoccupied and got lost. Lord knows she had a habit of turning herself around. Starlight was currently busy with her family so the familiar wasn't with her today to guide her. She was certain she'd always find her though.

Zahir was not really paying much attention to what everyone was doing around him. He laid in a patch of flowers that was located in the area where the leaders of his herd were usually located. Since the little blue foal was the son of the alphas, it was only natural for him to be here. His eyes were currently closed, deep breaths in and out coming from his little form. A little black and white bear was sitting beside him, trying to stay calm. She didn't know how the foal could stay still so long, it was so hard for her not to squirm.
"Zahir, I am bored...can we play?"the familiar whined softly. Unfortunately, no reply came from the pink haired foal, he was too lost in his meditations. Seleya sighed, begining to draw pictures in a bit of dirt with one of her claws. If he wasn't going to play right now, she would amuse herself.

As she walked around she thought she heard voices and decided to venture towards them. Shouldn't be anything or anyone bad right? Without much more thought than that she made her way closer to where she heard the voices. As she came upon an unusual scene of a bear drawing in the dirt and a young colt seemingly lost in thought. Cocking her head she watched the bear curiously. "What are you drawing?" She asked.

Seleya turned her head when she heard an unfamiliar female voice, one she was sure wasn't part of the herd. What she saw was a very pretty filly and she waved a paw at her in excitement. Surely a little cutie like that couldn't be a danger to the herd and so she wasn't too worried. Even better, the girl was interested in her drawing, that made her so very happy.
"I am drawing a tree with a bird in it. I was bored cause my bonded is meditating. He does this a lot, it is so boring. My name is Seleya, what is your name?"the black and white bear asked cheerily. She looked over to the foal again, half tempted to poke him softly, to get his attention. Even having a pretty girl nearby, he was oblivious to what was going on around him.

She looked at the picture the bear was attempting to draw, it was kinda good! She flicked her tail behind her and looked at the bear curiously. Her mother had a bear companion, she'd only seen him once though. Probably why she wasn't afraid to talk to this one right away. She cocked her head and peered towards the young colt that the bear had said was meditating. Interesting. "I'm Selatiel!" She proclaimed proudly. "It's nice to meet you Seleya." She said with a happy grin. She looked back towards the colt. "Is he going to introduce himself too?" She asked looking back towards the bear wondering what exactly meditating was. Was it like thinking? She pondered to herself.

Seleya smiled when the young filly gave her name, it was a very pretty one. When she was asked if her bonded would introduce himself, she looked over to him. She should probably get his attention, knowing it was rude for someone not to introduce themselves. Hmm, what was the best way to snap him out of his meditation though, that was the question. Sure, she could poke him with a claw, but he may not even stop for that. Alright, so this meant she would have to take desperate measures, she was okay with this. She got up onto her four paws and head butted the side of the foal. A squeak of surprise came from the foal, as he nearly toppled over from her headbutt.
"Hey, what was that for, Seleya?"the blue foal asked.
"We have company and you know how your mom feels about manners. This is Selatiel, she wants to know your name,"the bear explained.
"Oh, I didn't hear anyone approach, forgive me. My name is Zahir,"he greeted with a soft bow of his head. His violet eyes focused on the filly, wondering where she had come from.

What she watched take place almost startled her, oh dear! Was that quite necessary that the bear had to do that? She looked at the young colt somewhat worried for his health but he seemed quite unharmed, just a tad phased. But who wouldn't be. Fluttering her wings slightly against her side she cocked her head and looked at him and gave him a bright smile. "It's okay, I sometimes get lost in thought like that. It's nice to meet you Zahir." She gave a small bow of her head. "Are you from around here?" She asked him curiously.

Zahir sighed softly as he looked over to Seleya, his bonded sure could get pushy when she needed his attention. He supposed he hadn't really given her much choice though, he really did shut out the world when he was meditating. His violet eyes went back to looking at the other as she assured him she got lost in thoughts sometimes too. "Yes, my sister and I are the children of the alphas of the Odakota herd that lives here. This meadow is where the leaders usually reside. Are you from around here, I haven't seen you before,"the foal asked the other.

Watching him curiously she flicked her tail behind her and nodded her head. That was interesting, she'd never met anyone from a herd before. At least not that she could recall. "That's pretty cool! What do you guys do?" She asked him her curiosity sparked. "My family is from a spot not too far from here." She said motioning back towards a location behind her. She was sure it wasn't too far away, at least that's what she told herself when she went exploring earlier.

"We do all kind of things here, depending on the role of each member of the herd. My parents take care of the herd, making sure everyone is taking care of. Uncle Hoshi helps my parents lead and also leads the guardians. The guardians protect our herd, making sure no one tries to hurt anyone here. The healers take care of those that are injured or sick. The land wardens make sure the flowers and all the things of nature are given the love they need. I want to become a star whisperer, someone who helps with the religious aspects of our herd,"Zahir replied with pride in his voice. He looked in the direction she pointed, wondering if her parents had ever met his own.

As she listened to him explain she couldn't help but admire the way they worked as a large family, even though they were a herd. She often heard that herds were made up of different families but the way he talked it sounded like they were just one and not several. She kind of liked how that sounded. "That's really nice. It sounds really nice anyway." She said softly looking at the ground for a moment. "I think it's kinda neat that you want to help out like that. It's really noble of you to want to take on such a role." She said with a bright smile his way.

"It is very nice, even if we aren't really big yet. We are still growing, as more Soquili and familiars come to call this herd their home. Familiars are seen as very important here too, no matter what kind they are. My mother has a bat that she is extremely close to and my father has an owl. This is a herd that is a home for all those who need one. I guess in a way, we watch out for each other. And thank you, I feel like someone needs to help in that area,"Zahir answered.

She flicked her tail behind her gleefully, that was really neat! "Nothing wrong with starting out small, I'm sure in no time you'll have so many members you won't know what to do with them all!" Clearly that wasn't the case of course they'd all have a job to do but he little mind was thinking like that right now. She was just excited about having a new friend. At least she hoped he was her friend. She listened as he spoke about familiars and them being important. "I Have a companion myself!" She beamed proudly. "Her name is starlight and she's a Quetzal." Her voice and stance just radiated with pure admiration about her feathered friend. Who was likely around here somewhere. She was certain it wouldn't be long before Starlight found her and chided her for wandering too far from home.

Zahir watched the filly, she definitely was one full of happiness from what he could see. He nodded his head softly when she said there was nothing wrong with starting out small. The more he thought of it, the more she was right, they would be growing bigger in no time. Knowing his family, they would be drawing Soquili and familiar will be drawn to the herd like bees to pretty flowers. When Selatiel mentioned having a companion herself and how excited she was, he allowed a soft smile to come to his lips. He looked around, wondering how far the bird was from her bonded. "She certainly sounds like a good familiar to have. Is she somewhere nearby or did you come her all alone? My aunt has a bird familiar too, a pretty little blue one,"Zahir responded. He didn't know what it was, but the girl's enthusiasm seemed a little bit contagious.
