Rhona had picked the restaurant very carefully. Something a little higher end because this was brunch, and this was the woman that she loved more than anything in the world. The neighborhood diner wouldn't suffice in this endeavor. But she also had to be aware that there was a baby involved now, and so the place had to be kid friendly. No one too stuffy who would look at the baby with disdain and make Rhona haul off and hit someone. In the end, she settled for a little place nestled into a corner of Destiny City. It was bright, with large windows on most of the walls to allow for as much sunlight to filter in as possible. It was quiet, but there was still the happy chatter of children with their families. The food was nice, but not so nice that it looked more like art than something to consume. Rhona felt that she had, in essence, chosen the perfect spot to have brunch with her very best friend. So, comfortable in her choice, she smoothed her napkin down on her lap and tucked an errant curl out of her face and behind her ear. She also said a secret prayer that Raven would bring her daughter with her.

Raven hadn’t brought Chloe. She hadn’t even thought to. She was so excited to have a chance to get out of the house and hang out without a baby on her hip…even though it was the cutest, prettiest baby she had ever seen…she was excited to have the chance to just spend time with her friend.
Chloe was with her grandparents, Ravens parents, and they were equally as excited that they were getting a chance to spend time with their grandchild. Everyone was happy with this decision.
The blonde’s teal eyes scanned the restaurant and landed on Rhona’s wild curls at once, a grin crossing her face as she made her way over, taking the seat across from her. “Hey stranger. It’s been far too long.”
She took the napkin that covered her own plate and tucked it on her lap as well, glancing around. “Fancy place you picked out here. I like it.” Raven picked up her menu and glanced over the choices, trying to think of what she was in the mood for. Besides everything. She was so hungry, and honestly everything on this menu sounded fantastic.
“Have you eaten here before?”

Raven's appearance on scene had startled Rhona, who was lost in her own thoughts at the moment. But her face split into a bright smile when Raven finally arrived and she shot up to embrace her dearest friend. It had been so long... Rhona was painfully aware of the time they had spent apart. A price that she paid for the attention that she devoted to the Court. But they weren't going to talk about work right now. Instead, Rhona returned to her seat and basked in the compliment with a bright smile. "I have not, but I have, however, heard amazing things. I also took the liberty of ordering mimosas for us both before you got here, so they should be out soon." As if on cue, a waitress materialized from the back with a slender flute of bubbling orange juice in each hand. She set them down with a smile and pulled out a little flip book and asked, "Can I get you ladies anything else to drink?" "Coffee for me please, black. No sugar please."

Raven couldn’t help but grin as Rhona hugged her, then taking her seat, she nodded gratefully at the idea of mimosas, and when they arrived, she was beyond thrilled. How nice it would be to get through an entire meal without getting bits of food on the floor or on her.
“I’ll just have water, thank you.” The blonde smiled at the waitress and when she left, turned her attention back to her curly haired friend. “Black coffee with no sugar? Yikes, that is one of my nightmares, let me tell you…I have to admit, I’ve become a coffee drinker in the last year or so, but I like mine as fancy as you can. Though, I suppose I’d be happier with melted ice cream with some caffeine in it, if you want the completely honest truth.”
She sat back in her seat and picked up the small glass, sipping at the bubbly drink and grinning. “Mimosas are good. So that’s a step in the right direction for this place. But…how have you been, Rho? You doing okay? Taking care of yourself?”

"Honestly black coffee has become an aquired taste of mine. Work has caught up with me and even though I should take some days off... I can't." Rhona ran her fingers through her hair, leaning back to mirror Raven's relaxed pose. "There aren't enough of us. I feel like I need to pull more than my own weight. Other than that, though, I'm just slowly getting a feel for this new life, you know?" It had been an adventure since Micah had become Rhona, and she was steadily figuring things out about herself. Her voice dropped as she explained. "I'm discovering all these knew things. I am not only able to wake up early now, but I do it automatically. I just pop awake at about 6:30. Before I could sleep all day. I've tried to go back to sleep but... and before I couldn't grow anything, but my apartment looks like a greenhouse now I just..." It was a little overwhelming. "I knew that when I... I knew that I would change. I just... I don't think I knew how fundamental that change would be..." A moment of mourning for her lost life before Rhona's smile returned, bright and clear across her face. "What about you? Chloe still running you into the ground? You know I can stop by and watch her if you ever need. Maybe take her back to my place so that you and Jet could have a little date night." She waggled her eye brows at her friend suggestively over the rim of her mimosa.

Raven nodded idly, half wondering if the work she was speaking of was actual work or like, stuff with the DMC. Most likely stuff with the DMC knowing Rhona but…
“You know, nobody’s going to blame you if you take time to yourself. Seriously, your own heath is more important than anything, Rhona. I’ll be rather cross with you if you get sick or burnt out, just so you know. And I don’t think you want me cross with you.” She took another sip of her drink, listening to the rest of what her friend said and gave a little chuckle. “You know…to me, it sounds more like you’re just growing up, sometimes it sneaks up on you without you realizing it.”
It sure had done that for her. She was a mom of a toddler now and…and honestly couldn’t be happier.
“Of course she’s running me into the ground. But I’m loving every moment of it. She’s the best child in the whole city…no, the whole world.” Raven was glowing with pride by this point, she did love to talk about her daughter. “Jett and I have plenty of date nights. Her grandparents fight over her…it’s actually really helped me start to get along with my parents again, so I’m pretty happy with that.”

Rhona could agree more with the sentiment about the wild toddler. And motherhood suited Raven more than Rhona suspected that she knew. She had settled into her own skin. Settled into her life. Maybe that was why Rhona felt the need to work so hard... Lesath had -- rightfully so -- been spending more nights in, it would have seemed. Or rather she didn't see her out as often any longer. Not that Rhona blamed her -- who could ever bear to part with a child like Chloe? But she did feel obligated to pick up where Lesath had left off. "This feels different though. In some ways it's maturity but... in others... it's just different... Like my eyes are different and my voice is different, but also my... body feels different." She leaned in further and whispered urgently, "I slept with a man last week. Like a real one with," she gestured vaguely before continuing, "and that was the first time! Before now it has only ever been girls. That's the only thing that caught my eye but now everyone is hot." The waitress returned with coffee which forced Rhona to stop talking. Maybe a good thing, she was in danger of a minor panic attack. She sat back again, smiling a thank you for the service. "Are you ladies ready to go?" "Oh," Rhona snatched up her menu and glanced over it before she answered, "Pancakes and eggs please. Wheat toast."

Raven raised a brow. “Your voice sounds the same to me, the eyes though, you have a point with those.” The raised brow went up even higher at the mention of Rhona’s…bedroom partner, and she was trying to formulate what to say in response when she was saved by the waitress.
“Eggs Benedict for me, please. With some extra Hollandaise on the side, if you don’t mind.” She was so super classy, but couldn’t resist the buttery sauce. Couldn’t resist it at all.
When the waitress left them alone again, Raven moved closer, grinning slightly. “So…does this guy have a name? Are you dating him or just…getting a feel for people by sleeping around for a while. Kudos to either choice, and I fully support you, but I demand some better details, Rhona. You can’t just say you slept with someone and not tell me if it was good or not!”

Acubens shrugged as she tucked in to her drink. "I mean... it was sex. It wasn't anything super special. Right now I'm just feeling around, you know? New brain, new body, new everything. I also didn't used to like olives now I toss a handful of kalamata olive into just about everything. I dunno it's like Aladdin and Jasime and this is a whole new world, you know? It's... strange." She swirled the ice in the water glass beside her with a grin. "The second I have juicy details, you will have them too, I promise. But I mean these last few times both me and whomever I bring back has been a little drunk so it was just kinda like... wham bam get outta my place."

Raven frowned slightly and nodded. “Well, that’s fair, I suppose. I hope that you find someone worth talking about soon though. I want the best for you. I want you to be happy, more than anything. You know that, Rhona.”
Her hand slid out and took the other woman’s in a gentle grip. “I’m glad that you’re having fun though. I remember when I had fun but now…” She shrugged, and looked blissful for a moment. “Now I wouldn’t change a thing. Though…I wish I were married. It’s going to happen at some point but…” She shrugged. “I’m just not sure when. Soon, I hope. I thought it would happen before the whole…having a baby thing but. You can’t change what’s happened. Hopefully it’ll happen before the second baby…though again.”
She took a sip of her drink and shook her head. “I can’t see into the future.”
