He hadn't returned with anything of note - his scouting mission had been a bust for want of a better description. Save for the moment in which he had stumbled upon that lioness, he hadn't been able to find anything of major significance. Even then, what he defined as significant in this case would be a little different than Tethys... Still, the moment in which he had encountered Milly had changed him and he wasn't entirely sure if it was for better or for worse. Even when he had taken his leave he'd known that he would end up imploring his captain. He could only hope that Tethys was feeling as helpful as he usually did, this was a big ask after all, particularly when he'd already outlined the rules of play before they had departed from the pride lands.

Thus, it was with this in mind that he greeted the Captain with a slight bow of his head and it was only when he had been acknowledged that he finally stepped forward. All in all Tethys's demeanour seemed pleasant enough, so nothing had provoked him into being irritated this morning. This could work in the black lion's favour, or at least he hoped it would as he finally got to the point.

He'd be honest; that tended to work out well...

"Tethys, I will start with the important information first... Which is that scouting in that particular direction turned up nothing," Lawsonia confirmed and then cleared his throat. "But I did find something that isn't relevant to our proceeding that I would still like to pursue, if I'm allowed, that is..."

He'd let the lion address the first bit of news, then hopefully they could get on with the more important part of the discussion!

Lawsonia Inermis was still in that mindset where he had something to prove, this was what Tethys had discerned even after he had successfully proved himself and joined the Vikings officially. He hadn't quite settled in to his new home, not yet ready to fully admit that he was now a part of something, rather than living on the outskirts. Tethys could appreciate this based on everything he had heard, the lion had come from a pride where he felt guilt and shame, now he was somewhere that he could be proud... It was a bit of a 180.

...But he was going to have to loosen up at some point.

"All right," Tethys replied as Lawsonia provided him with the bad news he had already been anticipating, his eyebrow raising as the black lion summarised his scouting in nor more than a sentence, and then moved on to something else much more importance. So if Tethys was a betting lion (and he was), the male hadn't found anything relating to the Phantoms, but he had found something that interested him instead.

Tethys was intrigued.

"Something that you would like to pursue," Tethys repeated with an arched brow and a wry smile. "What could you possibly have found that would require my sign off?" he asked curiously and shook his head. "Short of invading someone's land, that is..." He added. He finally lapsed in to silence and fixed his gaze somewhat pointedly upon his Reaver, waiting expectantly for whatever Lawsonia intended to reveal in the moments that followed.

Well that went surprisingly well - despite the fact that Tethys had received absolutely no news from any of his scouts lately regarding the movement of the phantoms, he had taken yet more bad news without so much as a sigh of exasperation. There was something to be said for having a level headed leader, or at the least, one that simply seemed to roll with the punches and keep going. It gave Lawsonia just enough of a boost to continue with his request even if he had initially been uncertain about continuing with it.

After all, several of the other Reavers had now paused to watch. In hindsight, he probably should have approached everything with a little more finesse, perhaps kept his voice just a little lower than he'd started off. Now everyone was waiting for some sort of proclamation and well... This wasn't really that dramatic a request, but it had now become a much bigger deal than he had anticipated...

"Ah yes, well," he cleared his throat and glanced briefly towards the onlookers before shaking his head. "I um... Met someone," he said finally and chewed on his lower lip. "She asked for my help to escape, to find a new home but she's not really the fighting type..." he lifted his gaze to inspect the reaction he might receive from the captain.

"I promised I would find a way to help her but the only way I know how to do that is to um..."

"Oh for gods sake, really?" Tethys enquired as he watched Lawsonia squirm under the gaze of his peers. It made sense that he would ask, Tethys had after all categorically informed everyone involved that they would not be pillaging anything. They had a much bigger hunt and now was not the time to exploit the vulnerable or make enemies. However, wen it came to this particular request it didn't seem to fit in with those particular scenarios... to say that the male was following the law to the exact letter was an understatement.

Admirable, but for the most part, completely unwarranted.

It was something that Tethys hoped Lawsonia would eventually grow out of, once he found his paws and realised he had a little more autonomy to make this sort of call, then perhaps he would find that spark again. Every now and then it did shine through, but it soon fled back into the shadows when it wasn't sure what the 'rules' were. One of these days, the captain would need to sit the Reaver down and explain that the rules were generally more of a guideline than anything.

"If it isn't going to cause any problems then you really don't need to ask," Tethys point out and shook his head. "So long as I'm not expecting half a dozen angry pride members on my tail because they've got it into their heads that we've done something to their beloved... whoever this is, then you can do what you want," he lifted his paw and gave his nose a rub.

"Really?" Lawsonia asked.

"I don't just say this s**t because it feels good," Tethys replied bluntly and rolled his eyes. "Go play hero, but I still want eyes on the actual prize," he added. It was something that proved to be in vain anyway, the lion had already bolted the moment that the Captain had said 'yes'.

"Oh sure, don't mind me... No one ever needs to wait until I say they can go," Tethys murmured sarcastically with a wave of his paw. "She must be hot," he finished with a snort.
