Kally sighed with content as she stretched out on her favorite lounging blanket, enjoying the feeling of the sand under the fabric shifting to accommodate the weight of her body. Almost as if the beach itself were cuddling with her. The sounds of others playing in the distance mingled with the cries of sea birds to create a melodic counterpoint to the rhythm of the murmuring waves rolling onto the beach. It all made for a lovely soundtrack to the art display that the setting sun was splashing across the sky and a bank of clouds far out to see. Kally enjoyed the salty breeze rustling through her man and tail sparing not even a glance toward the clouds as she knew they wouldn't reach the shore. At least not tonight.
As it was still early spring she was once again grateful that the weather here never truly got cold and that if she chose she could spend the night laying here on the beach. As a matter of fact that might be just what the healer ordered. Well, healer in training, she corrected her thought with a smile. Though she was sure the old stallion who was her mentor might have agreed with her anyway.
Her day had been rather unproductive. Starting with a morning of not wanting to get out of bed. She had woken up with a face wet with tears and the fleeting hopelessness that was often left over from her nightmares. Once she finally had roused herself from her bed she set off on a walk through the greenery to try to relax. Most of her day had been spent trying to shake the feelings that often continued to cling to her after a night of fitful sleep. She went back and forth between bouts of activity and spending time just lazing. As annoying as it was to be under the weight of emotion all day she was used to it. It didn't happen as often anymore. The therapy of good friendship and days spent doing as much or as little as she pleased had done, and was still doing, its work on her.
As she lay watching the sunset she felt the welcome sensation of herself emotionally unwinding and finally began being able to breathe easy again. "Yup. Definitely staying here for the night." she confided to the friendly surroundings.

Aiesha had a full day at that point, a full day of traveling and gathering herbs and berries and other ingredients. The herbs for her constant stash of medicinals, cures and whatnot and the berries for her delicious concoctions the others for making more baskets with. The basket was almost completely full and this container wasnt one of her small ones. She always had a few skiens of water and a small closeable gourd filled with a good sample of her pride and joy: SunGlow. All in convenient slings that she made that fit comfortably around her winged back. At this point she needed a place to rest, weaving through the treeline she came to a lovely beach and thought it was splendid!
She slowly plodded over to a nice looking spot unaware that there was another mare not too far away from her. Oblivious as usual, she unloaded her things on a nice flat rock and pulled out a weaved blanket for herself to lay on. The patterns were intricate and some strands were even dyed to make something like a mandala. All the while she was humming one of her more favorite tunes. Once situated she plopped down and curled her spiky tail around herself daintily and let out a big comfortable sigh.WC:215

The sound of someone coming out of the forest's edge almost directly behind her caught Kally's attention and she lifted her head to see who it was. Oh! It was someone she had never seen before. Kally watched as the pretty little purple mare made her way onto the beach and plunked all her stuff and herself down. She couldn't contain her giggle. The mare hadn't even noticed her laying there! Though on closer inspection the newcomer looked liked she had been hard at work all day and was truly in need of a rest. That made the simple mistake completely understandable.
Not one to be rude and just gawk without introductions Kally swished her tail and called out "Hello! Rather fine evening isn't it? My names Kasandra Lynn! You can call me Kally though. You seem like you've been busy today. Did you have any luck with what you were doing?" The other mare looked kind. Especially with the way she daintily moved even her sharply spiked tail. Encouraged by this Kally continued, "This is a rather nice spot isn't it? And such a pretty sunset."
She watched for the other mare's reaction carefully. Hoping she didn't startle her or frighten her away by being overly friendly. She herself had been a bit skittish once and she knew that sometimes others didn't like being openly approached by a stranger. Which is why she had greeted her visitor while laying down. Kally was always looking to make new friends and hoped that this mare might happen to be such.

As usual Ai nearly jumped out of her scales at the greeting, since she had no idea of the mares presence. Goodness it seemed that everyone could sneak up on poor Ai! Regaining her composure and feeling a bit excited at the prospect of a new friend she gave a sweet smile, waiting patiently for the mares questions to pause. She nodded her head in agreement that the lovely weather and curled and uncurled her tail. "Yes it has been a lovely day all around! Its a pleasure to meet you Kally, I am Aiesha but my friends just call me Ai. Dear oh dear it has been quite a busy day for me! Ive come quite a long way, longer than most of my journeys in one day have taken! Thankfully I did find many things that I was searching for." While speaking she reached into one of her other baskets and began to prep a meal, complete with woven plates and coconut shells for drinking whatever out of. "Hungry? " Aiesha offered. This was just her way, being kind and a good hostess. SHe began pulling out seasoned vegetables and fine grasses, Some sun ripened fruits and springwater and many other tasties.

Kally watched with some distress as the new mare jumped. It almost seemed like she would take flight. "Oh no! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you so." Kally herself was rather jumpy and she sure didn't like the feeling of being startled so it made her feel terrible that she'd caused that for someone else.
When she saw the mare recover and turn to her in a friendly manner the unhappiness of upsetting someone quickly evaporated. She felt herself mirror the sweet smile. The newcomer was so friendly. When Ai gave her name, Kally couldn't help but interrupt her briefly. "Oh, Aiesha! Your name is so pretty! Even shortened. Ai. So nice to meet you." She listened with excitement as Ai detailed her days work and travels. "I myself had to travel very far to get here. But it was worth it in then end. So warm and relaxing. Are you just passing through, or do you plan to stay a while?" After her gruelling journey from far up north Kally didn't see herself ever leaving this beach again. Besides, it was soothing for her . . .anxieties.
As Ai started pulling food and drink from her packs Kally's mouth started watering. It was then that she realized she had forgotten to eat that day! When Ai offered to share Kally politely refused the offer. They were so near her home and it would make her a terrible hostess to let a wandering stranger feed her. It was also her own fault that she had been so irresponsible as not to feed herself. However, her treacherous stomach had other ideas. Just as she was finishing up her polite, "No thank you. I'm fine." her stomach gave a loudly audible growl. Her face instantly flushed a bright vibrant pink. So much so that she almost matched the sunset. "I mean, I wouldn't want to take any of your hard found food. I-I live just over there. I can get something later."
Kally ducked her head letting her bangs cover her eyes as she gave a nervous giggle. She really liked Ai and hoped she hadn't made a bad impression or seemed ungrateful. She thought quickly of a way to remedy the situation. With a spark of thought she smiled widely and tossed her mane back. "I know! I'll trade you! Something nice of mine for something nice of yours." She reached down and unhooked a shell anklet from her leg. She had painstakingly gathered each shell from the beach, carefully matching colors that complimented. She, of course, had several as making them was her hobby but each one was special and unique. Standing up and moving closer she offered the small lovingly made treasure to Ai.

Aiesha gasped wide mouthed at the beautifully crafted trinket and stared at all of its details before even being able to assemble words. "Oh my goodness this is soooooo LOVELY!" She practically squealed but it was so full of wonder and amazement that it came out praise like. "oh dear I dont know if I could take or trade something of such fine craftsmanship." Her brow furrowed and her expression was a little sad for she also didnt wish to offend her newly made friend and she did REALLY like the anklet, its just she did really believe it was truely wonderful and that she might not have something good enough to please Kally. It took her quite a while to think of something that could even come close as she shifted through her things, finally she pulled out a smaller more finely made basket, almost purselike with a closeable flap ontop and many pockets. It was adorned in many shiny rocks and dyed a pretty sunset color with yellow streaks. Aiesha blushed almost as if she was embarrassed at her exchange item. "Here....maybe it will help you when you are gathering things? or even use it for storage? It was one of the earlier ones I crafted but my pattern has stayed the same."Wc:215

Kally beamed at the praise to her work. It always pleased her to be able to make others happy. When Ai's brow furrowed she had a moment of dismay. Was something wrong with it? Had the other mare found a flaw? She hoped she hadn't offended the other mare by giving her something that could be considered substandard. She began looking over her other anklets wondering if perhaps she had a better one.
When Ai pulled out the pretty little basket and offered it to her, Kally was taken quite by surprise. "Oh!" When she took in Ai's blush and unsureness Kally was momentarily confused. Then it clicked. The other mare felt her anklet had been worth more than a few mouthfuls of food! "Oh!" she said again, "Ai! It's simply beautiful! " She delicately accepted the gift. "And you made it yourself? Simply wonderful! Your attention to detail is amazing. This is exactly perfect for helping gather shells and stones. Thank you so much!" As grateful as Kally was for the exchange of crafted items she was still concerned about the matter of sharing the other mare's food. After a moment of debating with herself she had an idea. "I simply meant to trade you the anklet in exchange for sharing your food but if you plan to stay nearby for the night I can make you breakfast?" Kally really hoped her new friend would stay around for a while but she didn't want to keep her from any plans she had previously made.

When Kally explained her actual intention for the trade Aiesha laughed amusedly at herself, "Oh dear! I seem to have gotten carried away with myself haha!" It had just amused her so greatly that Ai hadnt seen what she had meant that she was sent into a giggle fit. "Please have some food to sate your little grumblies," She smiled sweetly with an understanding expression, "I hope you get many uses out of it, and as far as your invitation I would LOVE some wonderful breakfast in the morning! I was going to make a shelter nearby so the waves could help me sleep so thats perfect." Aiesha was blushing from the compliments of her skill all while having a gigglefest, goodness she was silly! Shaking her head she took a few bites and opened some of her brew of Moonlight, inspired to make a new flavor by one of her deer-est friends.Wc:153

Kally flushed and ducked behind her bangs again at the acknowledgment of her grumblies. She hadn't realized they were that loud. She quickly got over her shyness though as Ai giggled charmingly. It set Kally at ease to see another mare act as silly as she often felt. She joined with Ai's infectious laughter as she settled down on the sand with her. Her face broke into a brilliant smile when the other mare agreed to stay for breakfast.
When Ai started eating, Kally took that as an invitation to help herself to the food and nibbled shyly at it. "You know," she began, "the weather is going to be nice tonight. If you don't have anything against sleeping on the sand I would encourage you to pass up making a shelter and just sleep right on the beach! Especially if the waves help you sleep. I was planning on doing the same myself. The view of the stars over the water is sooo amazing as well. It's almost like having the sky as a blanket!"
When the slightly fermented scent of the opened brew drifted over to Kally's nose she looked at the container with curiosity. The only time she had really encountered fermented liquids was when they were being used as a wound cleansing agent. But this stuff smelled more tasty than clean. "What's that?" she asked Ai with open wonder on her face.

Finally over her chortles of chaos she sighed while munching delicately on her fare. She listened to Kallys suggestion and nodded, making sure to finish her food before she spoke. "Oh goodness that sounds wonderful! Maybe we can just stay up and stargaze together until we both get sleepy!" Ai looked up and the beautiful sky smiling in wonder as she thought about what the stars may look like here.
Her ears flicked over to Kallys curiosity about her brew,"Oh this? This is a little fermented juice drink I like to craft as a hobby." She attempted to take more pride in it ever since the encounter with a lovely buck. "Its made from blueberries, blackberries, mint, jasmine, and vanilla.......kind of a new flavor of mine. You may have some if you wish!" She smiled sweetly at Kally hoping that she would try it and give her an opinion on it.Wc:152
