Kekipi would be over soon. He said that he had something for her, and Kalina couldn’t for the life of her think what that ‘something’ might be. Her fingers were almost all the way healed, and for that she was more than happy. The splint was so cumbersome and she was just ready to be rid of it. All morning she had flitted around, making sure the house was presentable…she had been lazy with her broken hand, and the monthly maid service wasn’t due for another week…maybe she could talk her parents into making them weekly again…but…
She doubted that would work.
When the doorbell rang, Kalina stared at it with a slightly horrified look on her face and zoomed over to the bathroom, slamming the door shut. She had gotten the livingroom and kitchen…mostly presentable, but heaven forbid if Kekipi had to pee…because he’d be going in the yard.
Stopping by the mirror that was near the door, she made sure her sleek black hair was as sleek and shiny as it always was, then drew in a breath and opened the door, grinning. “Hey. What’s up?”
Yeah. She was cool. She was…god. His face.
She forgot how it had looked, and while she had gotten used to it the last time he was here, she couldn’t stop the giggle that rolled from her lips. “How’s your face doing? Almost done healing?”

Fortunately for the state of the giant pocket on his hoodie, the kitten Kekipi had selected to give Kalina was a rather lazy beastie. He could feel the kitten's small warmth radiating into his stomach as the little thing napped. He'd even crammed an old backpack with a few needful things in case Kalina or one of her house staff couldn't get out to a pet store right away.
Therefore, all things considered, he was feeling pleased with himself as he stood on the porch and rang the bell. Looking mildly amused as she opened the door, seemingly fine until she got to his face and began giggling, Kekipi edged himself inside and allowed himself a brief grin.
"'Nothing new and the face is fine, thanks. It's definitely healing well and I made sure to do all my peeling before I headed this way."
He set the backpack down carefully and gave the tiny lump in his pocket a gentle poke to rouse it before turning to Kalina with a smile. He opened his mouth to begin what he privately thought of as a sales pitch when the tiniest of disgruntled mews rang out and a tiny, fuzzy face peeked out from it's pocket nest.
Okay, he could let the kitten introduce itself instead.

Kalina made a face at the very thought of the peeling and shuddered slightly. “I can’t imagine ever getting a tattoo. That sounds so gross to me, I don’t know. Glad you peeled before coming over though, I appreciate your thoughtfulness.”
She flopped down on the couch, about to say something when there was the cutest little sound that was coming from Kekipi’s pocket. Blinking, Kalina looked up, about to ask something snarky, in all honesty, but melting into a coo when her eyes landed on the kitten.
“Keki, what the hell is that? It’s so cuuuuute!” She bounced back off of the couch and plucked the kitten out of her mentor’s pouch without bothering to even see if it was okay. It was a kitten of course it was okay.
She held the small creature close, nuzzling it and seeming to forget all about the guy who had brought her the kitten, flopped back onto the couch, snuggling the small, furry kitten. “Ah, I love itttt.” Pausing, she seemed to remember that she had a guest and looked over, grinning rather sheepishly. “Thank you…unless this wasn’t the uh…gift you were bringing me…in which case, I’m stealing your cat because it is too cute for words, thank you and goodnight.”

"Eh, tattoos aren't that bad," he began, feeling a need to stand up for his craft when he was interrupted by a coo and the sensation of eager hands nearly ripping to pocket of his hoodie to get at the kitten. Watched somewhat bemusedly as Kalina went into throes of ecstasy over the little furball, Kekipi couldn't help himself. Laughter came booming out of him as he sank helplessly to the floor, watching girl and cat with amusement.
"No reason to steal since I was bringing the little fellow to you anyway," he said easily, still chuckling. "Backpack has some kitten food, formula, blanket and string toy for him. Other stuff too since I wasn't sure what you had on hand or could scrounge."
Walking on his knees towards the couch, Kekipi finally sat back down once he had the couch Kalina was on at his back. Then, turning slightly so he could keep a watchful eye on her, he grinned.
"I'm guessing I picked out a good gift, hey?" he joked before stretched out a long arm to gently rub the kitten under its chin.

“Hell yeah you did.” Kalina held the small creature and grinned, one of her hands reaching down and idly playing with Kekipi’s dreadlocks. “Thanks for the stuff, and I’m sure I’ll be able to run to the store and grab more things before what you brought me runs out.”
A kitten. He actually got her a kitten…and it was just the cutest thing in the history of cute animals. “What do you think I should name him? He’s too precious…”
She let out a sigh and closed her eyes. “Anything new going on in your life, Keki? Been doing anything fun…other than finding kittens for your most favorite protégé ever?” Because that was clearly what she was, and what she fully intended to continue to be.
“I haven’t been up to much, in case you’re wondering…I need to go out as Sapphirine again, I’ve been slacking, and I’m sorry about that. I’ll make sure I go out tonight and get some stuff done…” She continued playing with his dreds and stroking the kitten and sighed. “One of these nights…I think I’d like it if you could show me what to do…because I’m still a little confused of just how to best serve our Lady…”

"You're more than welcome. Amphitrite and Alkaid have this one's littermates. As for names, you're asking the wrong person. I raised and kept koi."
Tangerine eyes narrowed slightly as the kitten tried to nom the tip of his finger. But it struck him as more of a hunger nom than the kitten being a s**t, Kekipi sighed and moved just enough to snag the strap of his backpack and drag it over.
"I think he's probably hungry. And Keki? Really? Makes me sound like some kind of frog," there was no anger to his words, only a kind of distant amusement. "Nothing new or interesting. Merely doing my job to the best of my ability. And speaking of, you've been healing. Not slacking. And if you want to patrol tonight, we can easily find a teachable moment for you. But, if I may suggest? Use tonight to get acquainted with the small fur-brother. He's still so tiny and he needs so much care."

Kalina nodded, almost absentmindedly as she watched the kitten nibbling on the pink haired man. That was funny. A lot of things with him were funny. She vaguely…remembered the name Alkaid, sort of…but the other name, she had no idea who Amphitrite was, and honestly…she didn’t much care. It wasn’t about them. It was about her and Kekipi…and the kitten.
“Yeah, but you could have come up with some really…really fishy names for those koi if you would have tried. Like…Koilent Green, or…Koi polloi…there are so many great names you can name your fish, and, don’t you dare insult frogs, I think Keki sounds super cute, and you’re super cute so. Also, I like the idea of staying here and getting used to Mr. Paws. He’ll do better if you stay too, and you’re welcome to it. I’ll get us takeout from the most fancy restaurant I can. We could call it a date and just. I don’t know. Netflix and chill or something. If you want.”
She had no shame. None at all, and honestly, she loved that fact. “Maybe Mr. Whiskers. I don’t know. Those names just sound… CAT-astrophic. I’m not kitten around here, Keki.” He was going to walk out, she just knew it. Either that, or she was about to get some bones broken again.
...Worth it.

For one shining moment, Kekipi considered seizing one of the many overstuffed pillows from the couch and lobbing it at Kalina's face. It would be worth it to make the puns stop. Only, he would have run the risk of also hitting the kitten. And tiny as the furball was, it might seriously hurt him.
Which was something Kekipi would not do.
Which meant, he'd have to think of other, sneakier ways to shut Kal up. And any idea he might have had was abruptly whisked away at being told he was cute, of all things. Not that he minded getting compliments, but cute? Really? She couldn't have gone with something like hot or dangerous or something? The part of his soul that hadn't yet been subsumed by devotion to Metallia felt pleased and admitted that, okay, he thought Kalina was ******** gorgeous in a brat princess sort of way.
And even that bit of innocence bowed and gave way to the sudden, hot rush of hormones at the idea of Netflix and chill. As he sat and felt his skin heat and cool and heat again rapidly, he wondered if Kalina really had any idea just what she was suggesting. Not that he would be a brute, but it had been a long time and his tastes were not necessarily within the vanilla spectrum.
And for now, at least and to his utmost shame, he was still human enough to want to pin her to the couch and do things that would make ******** Christian Grey blush.
Even as that last thought whirled and danced, he was moving quickly, though mindful of the kitten in her lap as he faced Kalina and carefully set his hands to the cushions on either side of her. Staring unblinkingly for a heartbeat, he leaned in quickly and kissed her hard enough to leave a bruise.
"Kalina," he said, voice hoarse and still distantly amused. "Shut the hell up."

Kalina had been expecting a great many things happening due to her puns, and the has had not been even remotely on the list anywhere, and while it wasn’t something that was unwanted she hadn’t expected to get a kiss like that…because of puns. “What…tired of being PUNished already, Keki?”
If there was one thing she liked from this guy, one thing she liked more than any other thing about him…was the simple fact that he was dangerous…and she liked pushing him. It was fun to see how far he’d go.
“You want me to shut up, hm?”
Her eyes glinted and a grin formed on her still tingling lips, and she pushed him even further, beginning to have a slight idea of just what she was getting into. And she ******** liked it.
“Make me.”

Somehow, in spite of the heated, but pleased internal hissing, Kekipi never once forgot the kitten. Ripping open the backpack, he withdrew a small pet bed and set it on the floor beside the couch along with food bowl, a bit of formula and food and settled the kitten before tearing off his hoodie and putting it on the pet bed.
"He'll settle quicker and let us be for a bit if he has a familiar smell to help," he said almost absently before turning burning eyes back on Kalina and pushing himself to his feet. Then, with snake like speed, he seized her uninjured hand, yanking her up from the mouth before burying both his hands in her hair and giving her another lip bruising kiss.
"Bedroom is where," he asked with a growl as he finally pulled away. "I am not minded to ******** you on the floor or risk us rolling over and through a kitten and its food."
Lifting Kalina and slinging her over his shoulder, he began to move from the living room.
"Challenge accepted. Now tell me where the damn bedroom is!"
