(Please note that this roleplay does take place in the middle of the Dov's meta. Imani and Kaluwa broke off from the rest to have this reunion.)

"Well...it's probably best for me to start from the beginning." Peering at her expectantly he hoped that she would pipe up with some reason for him to cut down the lengthy story. Unsurprisingly all the response he got back from her was a raised eyebrow and her rolling her paw to signal him to keep going. Damn. Least he tried.

"Alright, alright. So originally I wasn't intending to get split up from you and Nanabe, I had just headed out for a nice stroll. Somethin' to stretch my legs out, ya know? Anyways I found myself a nice prey herd, snagged me some lunch and was settling in for a nice meal. Then a pack of hyenas caught the smell and closed in."

Rolling his shoulders he flashed briefly the spattering of deep bite-wound scars that were aftermath of his encounter with the pack. "As you know I was a lot dumber and more hot-headed during my adolescence. I made a very the very poor decision to keep my pride intact instead of my hide. I didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against a full pack and eventually I was forced to run. In my mad chase escape I forgot to look where I was going and accidentally slipped off a rock, breaking my leg."

Well no one had ever said he was the smartest tool in the shed! Even he had to cringe at his much more brash, bull-headed, and stupider past self. "Anyways, after they were done and had run off to claim their prize I dragged my sorry self to a little outcropping on the beach. It was something dry, warm, and safe for me to rest in. Spent a good couple of weeks there nursing my wounds and letting my leg set."

He could try all he liked to try and get out explaining to her what the hell happened to him but frankly unless he was actively dying, on fire, or the sky was collapsing around them there wasn't a thing he could say or do to wiggle his way out of this one! Even if he tried to run she'd chase him down and drag him back by the ear.

She rose to her full height after he rolled his shoulders. Furrowing her brows together Imani stepped over to him, setting a gentle paw on his back to rub the pads of her feet over the jagged scars that dotted his coat. She wasn't a medic, but she knew enough from treating her own wounds that these had to have been rather serious when they were fresh. Without medical assistance she was honestly more surprised to hear that he didn't contract one hell of an infection, especially given how filthy Hyena mouths were known to be!

To an extent she could understand why he wasn't able to come meet back up with them but that still did beg the question, "After you were healed why weren't you able to meet back up with us then? We didn't stray too far from the area we last saw you until months later." Both of the twins had agreed to stick around where they had last sighted their lost sibling just in case he ever decided to show his face again. But as the months rolled by they both were faced with accepted the grim conclusion that either their brother had left the nest for good, or was unfortunately... dead.

Kaluwa had to fight himself from pulling away at her soft touch. Call him vain but despite all of these years the ugly little scars were still rather large sore-spot for him. But this was still his sister, he didn't want her to stress over possibly offending him with every little touch.

Well that and this was Imani he was speaking with, she could be just as stubborn as a mule when she wanted to! It appeared she still hadn't lost her touch for fretting about the safety of her loved ones.

He seriously hoped that she wouldn't work herself so much in a ditzy that she would become sick all over him. Best change the subject before she would be able to!

With a loose shrug he finally responded to her question, "Eh, legs take a long time to heal. By the time that I could walk long distances again both of you were gone. I looked for your scent, asked travelers, and just wandered around for a good while looking for you guys. Never could find ya, obviously, so I gave up."

Glancing down at her a impish smirked tugged at the corners of his mouth. He could already tell that she was gearing up to bombard him with more questions. Not today, sis! "Before you ask, I ended up makin' my way back to the sea. Somethin' about it called to me. I stayed there for the good part of these last few years. Eventually I decided to stop p***y-footin' around the issue and officially joined the Bahari. Which is why I'm standing here before you right now."

"But what about you, Imani? What have you been up to these past couple of years? Did you ever snag that bloke you had the crush on?"

She knew better than that, broken bones don't take that long to set and heal. They had waited the entire dry season and a good portion of the rainy season for him to return. She didn't doubt that he searched for them, but what she didn't believe was him putting forth a huge amount of effort in the search. Her brother was, in all definitions, a lazy bum.

She would bet the skin off her back that he put in perhaps a day or two of hard searching before he threw in the towel.

Her pointed stare she had previously been shooting his way did lighten when he mentioned that he had joined the Bahari. Kaluwa had actually decided to toss in his loyalty to one pride? That was...surprising, to say the least. Moving her paw from his back she rested the back of it against his forehead, checking to see if he had a fever. "This seriously can't be the same man who moaned constantly about staying in one place was boring. Who vowed never in his life to ever settle down with a pride, mate, or kids! Could it?"

My, my. It seems time sure has mellowed him out! It wasn't a unwelcome change in him if she was to be honest.

Her ears pinned back at the mention of her late mate. As she stepped back away from him Imani weighed her opinions. Should she tell the truth? Or lie? Or perhaps just skirt around the issue?

Yeah, screw it. Skirting around the issue it would be then!

"He's not in the picture anymore." She topped off her statement with a loose shrug, trying to create the illusion of aloofness. "You know, I think people are starting to stare and wonder what we are up to, Kaluwa. Tell you what let's keep playing gardeners and you can tell me more about your new home."

Without giving him the chance to object Imani was already bounding off to rejoin the scavenger hunt in full force.
