Nobody would be able to a great and terrible war ever ravaged this now-peaceful place. Clear Quartz couldn't quite understand how strawberries and only strawberries grew in this place. Maybe some humans had planted them at some point? He had no clue. It didn't matter, though, as he looked carefully at every weapon left behind, some hidden among the overgrown fruit plants, reminiscing, wondering if the corrupted warriors who left them behind would ever be able to reclaim their possessions.

The barest hint of a breeze brushed the field of red growths, where an ancient battlefield remained largely forgotten. Despite traversing through the location just a century ago, the entire place seemed to have evolved. Nothing was the same -not even the weapons that lay rusting and in extreme need of repair. Hawk's Eye was careful to avoid these red things and continued observing her surroundings. After a couple more steps, her eye widened as she picked out an unknown figure in the distance. By instinct, she activated her stealth ability, summoned her crossbow, and began creeping closer.

"Never the same, is it?" Clear lifted a morning star from among the plants that looked a little too large for his compact form and looked it over. Rusted, though could probably see a few more battles before it would break apart completely, "such a strange planet. It's like the planet itself is a living being of itself," he mused as he looked back at the rest of the field. He felt there was someone else here, he just wasn't sure where. Or, perhaps, it was his own wishful thinking.

Stepping nearer, it was apparent that the gray figure was not one of the organic creatures from this planet. Judging from the physique..there seemed to be something akin to a quartz, but she seemed too diminutive in comparison. The figure was facing away, and Hawk's Eye could not confirm whether she was a comrade. Probably foe. Not one to leave things to chance, she adjusted her crossbow into a standby position and began skirting around the figure to take a look at the front.

Clear started to become uneasy and dropped the morning star, wincing as he reached into his gem and pulled out the handle of his flail, the chain continuing inward as he looked around. He heard rustling, and saw plants move, but not as though they were moved by a breeze. "Hello?" His voice was even and grainy, almost too calm for his stance. He narrowed his eyes and looked for the essence of a sentient being around him. (Good to know, I usually put thoughts in quotes but clarify that they're thoughts)

Hawk instantly ceased when she noticed the figure searching for someone. I've become rusty...defective. There was a brief moment when the figure's face came into view, and a deja vu occurred. Do I know her? Hearing the greeting, Hawk narrowed her eyes. Unknown voice. At this point, Hawk could only see the left side of the gem and eyed the flail she had pulled out. Definitely quartz. Gray colored...Too pale to be Smoky. Clear Quartz then. Those belong - belonged- to Pink Diamond. A twinge of grief briefly passed through Hawk, as she'd known how close Pink Diamond and her Diamond had been. She shook the thoughts away and refocused. Hawk could think of only two possibilities for a Clear Quartz to be on this failed colony. Revenge or traitor.
((Forgot to mention one exception for italics: when I'm just emphasizing a word or phrase.))

Clear shut his eyes, head already starting to feel like it was splitting from using his Essence Sight for mere moments, but pulled the rest of his flail out, and repeated himself, "who's there? I can see you." He wanted to speak louder, but he couldn't.

See me? Hawk's eye widened a fraction with the realization that she'd forgotten a Clear Quartz's capabilities. How foolish of me. The quartz was more or less facing her at this point, and a clear star, the mark of the rebels, was visible. She fired her crossbow at the gem's torso. Either way, it's definitely not that quartz. Hawk prepared another shot and mapped her escape path if proven necessary.
((Block or evade? Hawk has incredible accuracy + stealth, but you're capable of action because of essence sight. Or, even if you let it hit, I don't believe a single arrow is capable of damaging a quartz too much. Either way, now that Hawk has attacked, stealth is completely negated.))

Clear's eyes widened as he narrowly evaded the arrow, but it grazed his arm a little bit, which made him wince, "Rrrrgh," and he charged and swung his flail at Hawk as soon as her stealth function was deactivated. Another Homeworld gem! He wished he had allies with him, but he had to do this alone for now.

Hawk's eye shot open in surprise as the flail immediately shot at her. She barely had time to jump backwards with her free arm shifting between the flail and her body. Despite reducing the impact by jumping away, the blow still propelled her several feet away, but being a veteran, Hawk landed on her feet. "She's strong," muttered Hawk with grudging admiration before letting loose another projectile.

He opened his mouth as though to let out a cry of pain, but no sound came out. Still, he held his flail close and spoke in that same tone, "Why are you attacking me?" But through the noise of their battle, it could easily be drowned out.

It looked as though the traitor was trying to communicate. Despite the sounds of their scuffle, she could read the gem's lips. In response, Hawk's Eye scoffed. "You've betrayed Homeworld. Need I more reason than that?" She prepared another shot while keeping a wary eye on her prey's movements.

"Why does it matter now? The war is over," Clear growled, then bolted over, ready to swing his flail at her crossbow in an attempt to knock her weapon out of her hands.

It baffled her that a quartz of all things was asking this. "Orders were created to be followed. We have a chain of command -something that you, as a former quartz soldier, should have known. To serve the Diamonds is our sole purpose." The gem's consequent movements seemed eerily familiar, but Hawk could not quite place them. Too often, a quartz would rely on brute strength to overpower their opponents, but this one actually aimed for her crossbow. She retreated farther back to avoid a potentially devastating blow. For the first time, Hawk was curious, despite the lack of importance to battle. "State your Facet and Cut."

Clear was a bit surprised and taken off guard at the question, but suddenly, he too, started to think... "It's been so long, I have forgotten, you look familiar however. Do you remember seeing a particular clear quartz soldier?" He held his weapon defensively.
