The other divisions meetings happened, and Moon was no different. They were given a month's notice, a time, date, and location in one of Moon's warehouses and then...cancelled. Edith wasn't able to make it, time to reschedule! And then...cancelled.

And then the day after, all Moon hunters were requested to arrive at the lighthouse portals at 0600. It was a mission, so come prepared, but bring those project reports along.

The portal led to the viciously bright Sahara sun, but for once, the heat wasn't an immediate blast to the senses. Not until you got about twenty feet away and outside the Cooling Zone. Edith was a short, muscular figure, striding toward the group as the Moon crews that had been manning the area for weeks now jog past her for the portals.

"Things've been steady over here for long enough that they could use a break, and y'all could use a darned meeting already to say your pieces and get your budgets on the ledger. Sorry I don't have any food for you guys this time." In the shade of a tent, Zoe nudged a giant cooler open with her boot. "Well at least not as much as I know y'all like. But I did have time to whip up some frozen grape and spam kabobs, I call them spabobs." Nodding at Harrison, she added, "I'll give you the recipe later, Hughes. There's a secret." The secret was cheese filled olives hidden inside the spam.

"Anyway, work here is the full picture, fortifications, repairs, field med work, personal defense. We've got critters and fighters and damage all over. Some ponies decided to science up one of their pets into a super breeder. We've got it penned in, but it's spawning these little nasties in waves. We've got some tech coming in soon that should take them out long enough for us to take down the motherbug, but it'll be another day."

The ground shook beneath their feet, but Edith continued without giving it much attention beyond shifting her feet a bit. "There's some new faces here, and I expect you vets to take a hand in showing them what we do. It's a good chance to show them what sorta stuff you yourself specifically do, so don't waste the opportunity. Whenever you find some time to spare, bring me any proposals you've got and updates on anything you've already got going."

By the water tent, they find a duty roster. In the distance, there's something that looks distinctly like a giant scorpion tail waving past the defenses.

Quote:

Defend and Repair the Wall

The wall surrounding the hunter encampment is under steady seige and needs constant repair from the giant scorpions physically attacking it, the great multitude attempting to tunnel under it, and the occasional oddly colored dog-sized ones that spray corrosive liquid over everything.

Roll 1d8 (Intermediate Hunters can adjust their rolls by 1, Full Hunters by 2)
1 : you honestly just made things worse
2 : a group of small scorpions attack from below
3 : you manage a temporary patch job but it won't buy too much time
4 : a scorpion the size of an elephant attacks your section of the wall
5 : this piece of the wall is actually just fine, you can move on to another section, it's also nice and shady right here, so maybe you decide to just hang out and uh...guard it...for safety...
6 : a dog sized neon scorpion sprays this section of the wall and possibly you as well
7 : you're doing a pretty good job, Edith passes by and gives you a stern thumb's up
8 : the body of another hunter is slammed into your section of the wall and falls limply to the ground, better get them to the infirmary tent!

Quote:

Field Medics

Outside the wall are all sorts and sizes of monstrous scorpion-like creatures as well as teams of hunters fighting them. Field medics are needed to go into the areas get injured and ko-d hunters treated and back to safety.

Roll 1d100 (Intermediate Hunters can adjust their rolls by 10, Full Hunters by 20)
1-5 : you find a weapon tablet
5-20 : there's a pair of hunters that are looking a little tired, but mostly they just need some water and a bandage (there is a supply of both at the base, this does not use up your runic)
21-30 : a hunter is passed out as a giant scorpion thing looms over it, poised to strike, several others are approaching. Roll1d20 to carry the hunter away and back to safety. Success: 11-20. Chances: 3. If you run out of chances you can oocly choose whether the hunter is killed, left behind, or if they both end up rescued by additional hunters.
31-40 : you find a pair of hunters joking around and slacking off in the field, you can choose to ignore it or lecture them on field safety.
41-50 : you find a hole in the ground, at the bottom is a frightened young trainee with an injured leg. Roll 1d6 to get them out. Odds are fails, even is a success. You can try as many times as you like, but they get more injured with each failure.
51-70 : There's one or more hunters that are injured and struggling to return to the base. You can treat them, escort them back, and defend them from attacking creatures. For every action here, roll 1d20 to determine the level of success.
71-80 : you fall into a hole and get stuck there until another hunter gets you out, how embarrassing! (can be another player hunter or just a handwaved npc hunter)
81-90 : you find a hunter in a dire situation and do so well saving them that they tell you they owe you a favor and that they'll give you a recommendation to Edith. Your next paycheck has a $500 bonus attached.
91-99 : you get caught up in a fight, and find your job has now turned from healer to defending a Sun hunter
100 : The Desert Titan Appears (quote lizbot)

Quote:

The Best Defense

Moon hunters on the front line are usually paired up with other hunters to defend them in battle. They block, deflect, and nullify attacks using their weapon, Fear shield, courage, and wit, all without getting in the other Hunter's way!

You can choose to either have your hunter defend another player character, or have them defend an NPC. More than one Moon can defend, so feel free to group together! Auto damage from mobs is only directed toward attacking hunters and is blockable.
NPC Hunter stats:
HP: 50
Auto Attack: 7
Auto Attack at half HP: 3
At 10 HP and lower, the hunter is no longer hitting their target.

Roll 1d4 (Intermediate Hunters can adjust their rolls by 1, Full Hunters by 2)
1 : The ground at your feet shakes and suddenly dozens of scorpions surround both your legs.
Small Scorpions
Group HP: 25
Auto Attack: 4

2 : A lull in the fight, you can roll 1d4 to bandage the hunter you're protecting.

3 : You are suddenly fighting a scorpion the size of an elephant
Giant Scorpion
HP: 50
Auto Attack: 8

4 : A dog sized scorpion in strange neon colors and patterns hisses and sprays a painful and corrosive liquid at you.
Neon Scorpion
HP: 25
Auto-attack: 3
DOT: every time you fail to defend your hunter against the full auto attack, add that damage to every turn after until the scorpion is dead and the hunter can be brought back to camp for treatment.
Extra: the corrosive liquid can cause hallucinations for up to an hour. Each time you fight one of these, it is possible that the liquid leaves a small neon spray of color (no larger than a quarter) on your skin that seems to be permanent. (This happening is up to you.)

Give Edith your Report

If you have a project report or proposal, give it to Edith when you have some down time. (quote lizbot)

Specializations

If you have a field specialization or are considering one, this might be a good chance to show other hunters how it's done! Also you can look really cool, and maybe recruit some people to Your Cause.

General OOC

WELCOME TO THE MOON DIVISION MEETING

gaia_star [ IF YOU HAVE A PROJECT PROPOSAL/UPDATE ]: Feel free to simply post in A SHOUT POST STYLE explaining fundamentally what it is to Edith.

These meetings are meant to allow your character to propose projects and ideas, they can be used as a quick way to get NPC/GM approval or as a way to enable certain things that interest you for your character! They can also simply be used to introduce your characters to others in their division, both players and NPCs. Or just as a way to tell everyone what they've been working on!

You do not have to present a project. Every PC Moon hunter from Deus is assumed to be present at the meeting. 14 year old Jr Hunters are allowed to attend and watch the mission to get an idea about what the division does. They may NOT leave the camp, however. Only wall building and infirmary tending tasks for the kids. This meeting takes place at a fixed point in time. If you are considering de-aging your character, please do not post them here as an adult.

gaia_star [ LECTURE BONUS
- Attending the meeting with at least 400 words is +1 bonus point. (so if you write a full 800, that is a total of 2 rp points)
- Proposals earn +2 bonus points
- A follow up RP working on approved projects with at least 2 other hunters will earn + 2 bonus points (usable once)
- FREE RAFFLE FOR POSTING GO HERE

- In addition you will be able to purchase these things for RP points. Once used, these rp points CAN NOT BE USED AGAIN:

- 25 RP points: Clearance to begin construction and basic supplies/funds of any part of towns for their small business (ie: a hot dog stand, a donut stand, we don't care).
- 50 RP points: Portal compatible laptop (FULL HUNTER ONLY). Your character as long as they are carrying that laptop, can now use the portals OS to request a portal to almost anywhere in the world at any time/location, and as long as the laptop can ping the satellite signal, request a return portal back from any location. This can only be used once per mission for a max of 3 people at a time.
**PORTALS OS MUST BE TIED TO LIGHTHOUSE APPROVAL ON DEUS TO LEAVE**

Specialization OOC

Specialized Moon Hunters are encouraged to create group content such as Missions! Icly they get bonus pay & greater budget+supplies for these activities. OOCly they will earn and also be able to distribute extra RP points via this content.

Trainees/Intermediates/Hunters

Your rank effects how much of a budget you're given, as well as extra hands to help you, work space allotted, and materials at your disposal. changing roll down to 79!

When it came time for their division meeting Jason was feeling more nervous then usual. This would be the first time since the 'incident' he would be meeting with the other moon hunters, including their division lead herself. Was she aware of what happened? Did anyone else know? He felt sick with worry, his mind conjuring images of accusing stares and disappointed glances. Or perhaps he would get yelled at in front of everyone? He was given a lucky break however, as the meeting, and subsequently the next, were canceled.

Third time was a charm, and the next meeting came with a bonus; a mission to the Sahara. The absolute worst place to be if you didn't have your hunter weapon. Still, it was a meeting, and he couldn't sit back if others were in danger. He couldn't fight as well but he could dam well put on a bandage.

Jumping through the portal, he was surprised to feel the sun wasn't burning him to a crisp. Up until he moved away and, whelp, there it was. It was a struggle not to remove his coat or shirt.

He half expected a remark about showing off his abs, but all he could hear were his own thoughts.

Jason listened quietly to the briefing, then made a beeline for the fighting, intent on assisting injured hunters like a good medic.

Instead he fell into a hole and couldn't get out.

He sighed, then sat down gloomily to sulk.

There were times Joy really didn't like how fast technology progressed. It always felt like everything was zipping past and unlike riding a bicycle she could never figure out what or how to pedal in order for her to keep up. But there were also times when she was glad for the technological advances because without it, she wouldn't have heard about the division meeting.

She wasn't expecting it to be held together with a field mission but she wasn't going to complain. Even if they were going to the Sahara, it was just one of those things you had to suck it up and deal with it. Because doing otherwise was not an option. Besides, intense as the heat of the desert was, it was at least dry and that was more bearable than the oppressive humidity of the jungle.

Joy was a little bit concerned about the shaking ground, visibly marveling how Edith was just taking it all in stride. Damn but their Division Lead was so cool!

She spotted Jason head out and she moved to follow when she spotted a scorpion looking over something. Weapon summoned, Joy headed towards it and saw the unconscious hunter lying in the sand.

Joy wasn't sure if she could take on the scorpion all by herself. But she didn't think the unconscious hunter had enough time for her to call for backup. Stupid, crazy, desperate, whatever you called it, Joy stuck her shovel into the sand and began to dig.

Joy hoped and prayed that the hunter was just passed out and didn’t have any injuries that required they be kept still. She frantically continued to dig, either trying to tunnel towards the hunter or trying to bury the scorpion with the displaced sand.

Somehow, Joy managed to grab hold of the hunter's legs and hauled them away, out of the scorpion's reach and attention. Other hunters noticed the ridiculous thing she was doing and arrived in time to assist.

Clyde was glad they had finally just PICKED a date for the meeting. He felt like he was going around in circles because they kept being canceled. The only thing worst than a meeting was a postponed meeting that you had to get ready for 6 times.

Though Clyde was quickly realizing this was less a meeting and more... Almost a mission? And mostly repairs. As usual.

Clyde took of to do some actual repairs, not really caring about budgets or whatever. He just needed wood. Give him wood and he would build. And in this case he pretty much headed straight for the wall.

Clyde did not get far before scorpions were crawling their way under the wall. Great...

Finn wasn't even as annoyed as he might have been a year or two ago that the moon "meeting" had become an actual mission in the Sahara. Instead, he was filled with a grudging acceptance for what had pretty much become the norm. Before he walked through the portal, he fired off a quick message on his phone, pocketing it as he stepped out into bright sunlight and a surprising lack of the usual heat he associated with the desert, though that passed as he got instruction and set out immediately into the feel, shouldering a bag of supplies that were slung over one arm.

Repairing buildings were not his thing, and while he was often times handy in defense, he had specialized in other areas. Healing, field surgery, the quick and messy work that kept people alive. Out in the field, amidst the battle where people lay broken and bloodied was where he belonged, and that's where he headed.

Though he didn't really get far before some form of action caught his eye, his attention swiveling and his steps quickly changing course as he dropped his bag and summoned his weapon, stepping to with it raised to block what might have been a deadly blow from a stinger that was striking down towards a sun hunter who's back was turned as they fended off yet another of the scorpions.

Adjusting roll again to 73 Seriously Jason

Thankfully a kind hunter came along to fish the poor moon out. Now that he wasn't stuck in a hole he went forward to go help people.

...Only to fall into another hole.

The hunter that had helped him just face palmed.

Okay, this time he was going to be more careful. And maybe plan ahead and not wear steel capped boots to the Sahara.

Jason scanned the horizon for anyone in need of help. It took about five seconds for him to notice the giant-a** scorpion that loomed over a hunter passed out on the sands.

He didn't want to run towards the giant a** scorpion, but it was about to eat the poor guy so he opted to go do the moon thing.

He did the moon thing real good. In that he managed to hoist the man onto his back as others came to cover him, sprinting away like his life depended on it. (Which it did.)

Jason might have squeaked as the poisonous tail swung a little to close for comfort. But he got away, carrying his charge back to camp where he was able to check for any obvious injuries. He couldn't see any, but that didn't mean the guy hadn't been injured, more specifically poisoned by the numerous scorpions scuttling around.

He left the man in the more experienced moon hands, thinking it was high time he reported to his lead.

...But then there were probably tons of people who needed help, so instead he opted to chicken out go help out more.

A few sun hunters were looking like they needed a pick me up, so he dashed across the sands and handed them some supplies.

It was hot work, but at least it was easy and didn't require him to outrun giant monsters. For now at least.

He was about to head back when he heard someone screaming for help, a quick scan revealing a injured sun hunter, hunched over and holding his leg, blood pooling below the limb.

"Hold on!" He called out, dashing towards the man as a large scorpion got the same idea, sensing weak prey. Jason was faster however, reaching the man and batting away the tinier bugs. There was no time to administer first aid now, so he could only hoist him up onto his shoulder. His breath coming in short ragged gasps as he half carried half pulled the man to safely. Physical effort was so much harder, the moon having to rely on his own physical strength and sheer adrenaline to get the man out of harms way.

By the time he reached the camp he was panting heavily, sweat pouring down his face from running around in a desert in full hunter uniform and carrying others. He indicated for the man to sit, kneeling down to see the wound. A deep gash, but nothing fatal. A quick roll of bandages would do the trick.

He was done in minutes, straighting to go and attend to others. The man called out a note of thanks, saying he would tell Edith about this.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 21, 2017 9:06 pm

Jason looked a royal mess by the time he approached Edith. Instead of a fresh white coat and a cool meeting room it was a hot as hell desert, the moon dripping with sweat and looking extremely tired, his clothes were wet and caked in sand, plus a few blood stains that were gonna be a pain to get out.

"I..d-don't have much to report on my person progress." He admitted. "I've been w-working in the infirmary for about two years, give or take a few months. I've got the basics down, moon first aid, providing care of patients, etcetera..."

He trailed off. A awkward silence followed, the moon gripped the side of his coat nervously. It was a blessing everyone was busy with the mission but still, to talk about this to the higher ups...

"I...I'm n-not looking for a b-budget or a-anything like that...T-though I'm always ready to i-improve my skills in first aid, h-however I'm currently not qualified at this moment...I'm q-quite handicapped...d-due to...reasons."

s**t, he couldn't get it out. He wanted to run off to anywhere but here. s**t, s**t ,s**t.

He took a breath. Steadied himself. "I was possessed by reflection....s-some events f-followed...I'm c-currently without my weapon..." Now he couldn't even look her in the eye, focusing on a spot next to her feet. "I...need to work on...f-find out how it happened, a-and how to prevent it from happening to others...b-but for the record...if you see anyone a-acing strangely, not like themselves... put them in front of a mirror.
