“I really don’t know why you didn’t just get me one or the other, Bea…you spent so much money on getting both of these animals…and tore them up to make…Mr. Alpacacorn…”

Kelly didn’t really want to let on just how much she actually liked Mr. Alpacacorn…from here on out dubbed ‘Charlie’, at least in her mind…she never let Bea know just how much she liked the crazy stuffed Franken animals that she always made for her. Whenever Bea came over, she always hid all of them in her closet, but when her best friend wasn’t around, they were always the ones that shared the bed with her…and she figured that Charlie would hold the new place of honor that had been held by a mixture of an octopus, butterfly and a dog before.

Bea’s animals were the best animals.

“Seriously though, they’re just all so…strange. Just like you. Your face is so strange, Bea.” For the life of her she still didn’t quite know how that she had become friends with this girl. The girl who liked the color black way too much, and who’s utter obsession with spooky things was…almost borderline distasteful.

…but there was nobody in the world she would rather have as a bestie.
The two were walking from Beatrice’s house to Kelly’s, since Kelly’s brother who had a car…was lord only knows where. Ever since he had moved out in a huff, she hardly saw anything of him…and that made her sad. Really sad.

It wasn’t that far of a walk though, and she knew this part of the city well. Nothing could happen to the two of them, clearly.

"Your mom's face is strange."

Truthfully, Mrs. Chriscaden was as normal and sweet as apple pie (or however that weird expression went) but Bea couldn't resist inserting yet another Mom joke into their conversation. The joke style might have been older than both girls, but she didn't mind - it was still funny to her, at least.

She hadn't bothered to bring her backpack with her on the journey to Kelly's house, despite assuring her mother that yes, they were heading over there with the intent of studying for the upcoming Biology exam. Bea knew what her mother wanted to hear, but it didn't mean she'd actually do any studying. No, she'd be too busy poking around to see if Leander was lurking nearby (he never was, sadly), if the Chriscaden's had anything interesting in their fridge to munch on (they usually did) and unceremoniously flopping herself down on her bestie's bed for another afternoon of lounging around and doing essentially nothing.

Yeah, it was going to be a good day.

"You think you can convince her to order pizza for dinner?"

Ever focused on the important questions, Bea's gaze was trained on Kelly's face, completely missing the orange ball of fur that was stirring in the alleyway they'd just passed by.

~

His ears twitched.

He'd heard two voices, but that wasn't a big deal. There were always voices passing by when he'd chosen to snooze in a public area, but these were.... these were different. These were paired with a curious feeling, a feeling he hadn't had in a long time.

Stretching out his long, legs, the Mauvian arched his especially furry back before slowly making his way down the tower of boxes he'd christened a temporary napping space. The soggy, torn pieces of cardboard shifted slightly as he descended, but the haphazard tower remained intact.. at least for the time being.

Trotting his way outside of the alleyway, green eyes searched for the voices' owners before settling on the two teenagers who were casually making their way down the sidewalk. Were they... could it be....

The tingle was there, that familiar, nagging sensation that there was something more there, something hidden beneath the senseless chatter and Meadowview uniforms. The sensation was even stronger than normal, almost as though...

Could these two both be senshi?

An eyebrow quirked upwards and the Mauvian let out a loud, pitiful meow in the girls' direction as flopped down onto the ground rather dramatically. He'd need a closer inspection, just to be certain.

“Ugh, Bea. My mom’s face is very face like, and you know it. Now, stop talking about her face like that or I’ll tell her and you won’t get any food tonight. Got it?” Kelly gave a sigh and reached over, pushing Bea slightly, rolling her eyes. “Look, I know you don’t like mom’s cooking, but she’s really starting to get some hurt feelings when you always want pizza. Or fast food. She’s starting to think you don’t like her food or something.”

Pausing for a moment, the girl shrugged. “I’m sure we can get pizza. Extra cheese, yeah? I’ll ask.” She glanced behind her when there was a loud meow and her eyes widened. “Ah! Bea, it’s a cat, it’s a cat!”

She ran back over to the orange feline and picked him up before he could get away. Or…before Bea could get ahold of him. Not that Bea would actually hurt a real cat or anything, only stuffed animals, but...but sometimes, there was just a limit that was crossed. Sometimes franken animals weren't what was needed.

“You’re not cutting him open and putting his head on a turtle body, Bea. He’s mine. And he’s...he's kind of ugly." Kelly looked down at Bob and wrinkled her nose, holding the cat away from her body now, letting his dumb little paws dangle. “You need a bath, cat, and a trip to the groomers...”

And a brushing. A good brushing.

She stared at the cat, only mildly curious as to where it had come from. Kells had no issue with dashing up to it and cradling it like a newborn baby, but all Bea could wonder about was whether or not the creature had pests on it. Fleas, heartworms, that's the sort of thing these beasts got out in the wild, right?

"You know we're going to have to dissect these, right? Next year's Biology course."

Bea, of course, knew all about it and the more she stared at the mangy looking feline, the more excited she got about the project she'd been so impatient to get her pale little hands on.

"They inject the arteries with red and blue latex, to get their organs and parts colored the way the teacher wants them colored, so we can identify them better."

She also knew that a sheep's brain cost exactly thirteen dollars and forty cents, while its heart cost a mere four dollars and ninety-five cents. Bea had asked her mother for a pluck since that was the best deal the website had to offer, but her mother had suddenly decided to implement a No-Organ-Purchasing house rule, to the teenager's dismay.

Some people just didn't have a sensible appreciation for Science.

Tilting her head, she gave the orange furball a thoughtful blink. "You know, I could make him an outfit."

The offer was genuine, the teenager knowing how much her best friend enjoyed dressing things up. After all, the cat did already have a ratty looking tie around its neck... "Maybe a little suit or something. A top hat?"

~

Okay, so the white haired one was already creeping him out. The one with whimsical colored hair, however, clearly knew how to scratch a cat properly. That is, until she started talking about taking him to get prissed up and then jerked him away, accusing him of being dirty. Well, that didn't last long.

Bob knew what he had to do.

It would be a sin not to take advantage of the discovery he'd made of stumbling across not one but two undiscovered senshi. What price would one of these factions pay to get their hands on these ladies?

The beady eyed girl wearing what he was pretty sure a barrette made out of bone continued to peer at him curiously, making the normally relaxed Mauvian rather unnerved. No time like the present, right?

Rearing his head back, he yowled out to the heavens:

"I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF UNAWAKENED SENSHI 'ROUND HERE. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE."

And now, ignoring the gaping maws and stares of the girls in front of him, he waited patiently for his call to be answered.

“Well we’re not going to start practicing for that with this one. He’s still alive. And besides, when it comes to that, I’ll write the notes and you can do the actual…cutting. Since you’re so…so into it. Besides…do you really think they’ll make us dissect a cat? That’s so…I don’t know…brutal.”

She continued holding the mangy creature…until he screamed. Yelled? Yowled?

For a moment, Kelly was sure that it was just...just some really fancy meows, like when the cats on youtube said I love you and all that junk…or when they said no no no no no…that was a funny one…but…

No, these were real words. Real…people words…coming from a cat.
Kelly’s mouth fell open, and she flung Bob away from her, retreating behind Bea and peeking out from over her shoulder. “What the actual heck. It…did that…did it…?”

Words. What were words?

…The cat knew words. And that was what the issue was.

---

Raven had been out shopping, enjoying a day where Chloe was safe at her Grandma’s place and she could have a little time for herself. Being a mom was great, and everything was great…but sometimes…sometimes you just needed to get a new dress every now and then.

She had powered up just to make it easier to get home…well, she had been lazy. Lazy and didn’t want to walk all the way home…so she figured a quick mirror walk into the bathroom wouldn’t be so difficult, and when she powered up, she felt the small chaotic twinge…that had to be from a cat, and the words…

Unawakened senshi? Hmmm…

Well. Maybe she could end up actually doing something good today. Well, good for the court, that was.

She leapt onto a building and landed on the ground just as the girl with the pretty pigtails threw the poor cat. Wow…that…was kind of rude.

Though, he had talked…that must have scared the poor things to death.
“Hey.” Lesath walked over, Picking up the orange feline and cradling him close. “You okay, kitty? You say these two are senshi? I’m going to bring them to my court, if you don’t mind…care to assist me?

Glancing up, she finger waved at the two girls, hoping they weren’t going to run away…or faint. The one who had thrown the cat looked ready to keel over. “I’m not going to hurt you two, just so you know.”

Even Bea let out a startled squeak as her companion launched the cat into the air, the tangled orange furball colliding with some of the alleyway's debris. Unlike, Kelly, however, Bea knew it had been the cat talking. It all made sense - animals were getting smarter than they were. Maybe they were even trying to take over the world on the sly? What wo---

Kelly ducked behind her best friend and Bea's arms spread out instinctively as the woman suddenly appeared in front of them. She wore the most peculiar of outfits - if it was a Halloween getup, Bea didn't recognize the character. She seemed slightly older and when she bent down to pluck up the cat, it all started making sense.

"She's a witch." The pale girl whispered under her breath to her friend. "See, that's her familiar. Familiars are known to talk around their witches - we gotta get out of here, Kells, before she uses us in a sacrifice ritual!"

~

"Don't be stupid, you little twit."

Bob's ears twitched and he let out a soft groan as the attractive dame with the most intriguing head fuzzies moved to pick him up. Almost immediately, the Mauvian took to snuggling up against her neck and chest, spending ample time in her ample looking bosom before turning back to the teenagers. "She's not a witch - she's a sailor scout. If anything, you two should be ecstatic that she's taking you under her wing, here."

He chuckled at his own pun, considering the sphere of the woman holding him. Curling up into a tight ball, he returned to snuggling as his gaze moved towards the Eternal Dark Mirror. "Hadn't seen one of you around in a while. Sure, I'll be game to help, but I expect at least dinner for this."

Moaning again for dramatic effect, he batted his eyes up at the woman. "Finders fee and all... I don't know if I'll be able to hunt for food myself, after that horrible toss...."

Kelly felt as though she might faint. She looked it too, her pale skin going even paler. She was a witch. Sacrifice ritual? She was going to die. Her and Bea were going to die and she hadn’t even gone to the prom and she hadn’t done anything with her life and she was far too young to die.

A whimper escaped Kelly’s lips and she clung to Bea’s arm tightly, her manicured nails digging into her flesh ever so slightly. “How do we get away? What if there are more? I’m too pretty to die, Bea!”

Not that her friend wasn’t pretty too but.

But. She was prettier and she knew it.

The cat was talking again, saying things that made no sense, saying that they were being taken under this woman’s wing…the wing of a witch? So she could fly too? Well she did have wings on her…butt.

Letting out another whimper, Kelly faded away, staying as far behind her friend as was possible, though her eyes peeked out from over her shoulder ever so slightly.

---

Lesath let out a snort, both at the accusation of being a witch and wishing to sacrifice the two girls, and the over dramatic wailings of the cat that was snuggled into her boobs like he had good sense.

“Of course you can have dinner, you can stay at my place, but I warn you—I have a dog and a baby, so just. Expect some tail pulling and please don’t talk too much. As for you two—“

She looked at the girls and sighed, walking forward. “I’m not going to sacrifice you. I’m going to give you power. Make you amazing. I’m going to make you like me…I’m not a witch…but I do have magic. And you two can have magic too, if you come with me.”

Keeping one arm around the ginger cat, Lesath held one hand out, her teal eyes locked on the eyes of the white haired girl, a small grin on her face. “Haven’t you ever wanted to be amazing? I know I did at your age. And look at me now.”

Bea was hesitant at first, though her passion for all things supernatural was quickly taking hold of her attention. This woman was clearly magical and her words were as enticing as Ursula's promise to Ariel. But she looked like she had neither tentacles or a desire for Bea's voice, so...

"Okay."

She could hardly believe the words were coming out of her own mouth. The promise of power and magic was too tempting to pass up - how long had she been waiting for a vampire or werewolf to come along and change her? And look where that had gotten her, years of waiting and growing disappointment. So maybe she wouldn't sprout fur or fangs - but being a beautiful magical girl could be almost as good.

"Kells, I think we should listen to her."

~

He frowned at the mention of baby and dog, the appeal of cuddling against the bosom of a gorgeous woman waning as quickly as his appetite. Eh.

Maybe he'd grab some takeout on her dime and call it a day.

Bob had to give the dame props, though - her argument to the girls was fairly convincing, even if neither of the twits really deserved to have such power thrust upon them. Ah well, Cosmos made some quirky decisions anyways.

"She's not wrong," he chimed in as his tail brushed back and forth against the senshi's arm, "Why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary?"

Kelly’s head popped out from behind Bea once again, much like a turtle coming out of its shell. “Okay? Okay? Bea, are you serious? You just told me she was a witch, and now you’re accepting…who knows what from a crazy lady and a talking cat? Seriously?”

And then the cat spoke up again, asking why they would want to be ordinary. Well, she wasn’t ordinary. Not by a long shot, and she knew that. And Bea wasn’t either…

But if her best friend in the whole world thought this was a good idea well…well she clearly had to go along with it too. She wouldn’t let Bea get eaten without her.

“Fine. Fine okay. Whatever. I’ll go where she goes.”

It felt almost like she was sealing her fate with those words but…so Bea it.
Hah. At least she still had humor.

---

Grinning, Lesath nodded. “Follow me, then. This won’t take long, and it’s not going to hurt or anything, and I promise I’m not taking you somewhere to kill you or anything.”

Sure, because those words were so reassuring.

There was a mirror nearby…because there were always mirrors nearby, that hadn’t changed in the six or so years that she had been doing this, and she cheerfully held her hands out to both of the girls. “Come on, my new friends. Into the mirror we go, and when we come out again, you’ll be as special and amazing as I am. Well, nearly. I’ll still be the best.” She winked, hoping they didn’t take too much offense to her joking. But…she wasn’t about to let two perky happy teenagers usurp her position of…

Well.

Her position. Whatever that was now.

Bea couldn't help it.

Flags were waving in her head, but the prospect of becoming an extraordinary person was far too tempting to pass up. She could be special, like a ghoul or a vampire or a werewolf. The lady in front of her and her magical talking cat were proof enough, right?

When the woman presented the mirror to the duo, Beatrice felt like she was Alice glancing into Wonderland. Really, though... wasn't this how she did it??

Gripping her best friend's hand, fingers entwined and she yanked her to follow. She hesitated for a brief moment as she stared at her reflection, nose to nose, before taking a bold step forward. Holding her breath, she passed through the mirror and into a world beyond.

~

Still burrowed in the Eternal's grip, the large cat watched as the girls' tunes slowly began to change. Maybe they weren't so stupid, after all. Or maybe they were stupid and that was the problem.

Either way, he had tits to snuggle and food to consume soon, so he remained quiet and compliant as the ringleader lead them all into the mirror world. His back arched slightly and he pressed closer to her chest as they passed through, the Mauvian still not entirely comfortable with the unfamiliar realm.
