Hy-Brasil was using the cool, early spring evening to clear her mind. Stars twinkled overhead and the waning moon looked down upon her as she utilized rooftops to navigate the city. There was a lot to think about. Her life had gone from being easy to being quite complicated and it all seemed to happen so swiftly. Ever since October, when Isaiah had been maimed, did things begin to derail and she never seemed to mange to get back on course.

What was the issue? Was it her own inability to acknowledge what she dreaded was coming? Was she losing her normal self thanks to the needs of Hy-Brasil? She had no idea, and had intended to use a quiet evening to think while she was on patrol.

Nearing an old theatre that was no longer in use but being converted into, what Gwen could only assume, was apartments or something else more ‘valuable’ to the city, she noted a signature like her own. In fact, if she had been paying more attention to what was around her she would have noticed it much sooner. As it was, she was practically on top of whomever it was. The lights from the theatre marquee, still used for aesthetic purposes, was ruining her night vision as the light glared up from the street. “Hello?” She called, as she walked closer to the signature that she swore was on the same building as her. Or maybe inside?

It was getting easier, day by day, patrol by patrol, to do things on his own.

It didn't mean that he wasn't completely comfortable with it; Emrys would have preferred entirely to be accompanied by Eurydike or Celsus, but he couldn't be attached at their hips forever - not if he wanted to ever get anywhere in his knighthood. And besides, he couldn't inconvenience them; they were his family, imposing on them for other things was bad enough.

He was on the ground in front of an old, abandoned theatre now, Emrys slowly making his way across to the doorway. It was a shame, really; once it had been beautiful, a lovely old relic of the city, and now it was being forced to change and adapt to the current times.

Emrys could feel for it.

He heard the call at the same time as the felt the power signature approaching, Emrys lost in his thoughts. A frisson of fear rippled through him instinctively - but it was an Order signature, similar to his own, though stronger, he thought.

The voice had come from - above? Emrys glanced around.

"H-hello?" he said tentatively.

The voice was almost too quiet to hear from the rooftop but Hy caught the tentative, questioning greeting from where she stood. Thankfully she had been near the edge of the building or it may have gone completely unnoticed. As it was, she moved to the precipice and looked over. There below, was the owner of the signature she felt.

It was easy enough to hop down from the rooftop. The neon flow from the theatre marquee lit up the street but there was no body around. No one besides her and the other squire whom she jogged up to. It seemed they would go unnoticed for the time being, at least by civilians.

With a warm smile she gave a small wave as she stopped by the other Squire. Blue eyes roved over his attire and quickly assessed he was a squire of Neptune due to the markings on his uniform. "Hey there." She said jovially. "Fancy meeting someone else around here tonight. I am Hy-Brasil." She put her hand out for him. "Come to check out this old theatre before it's completely renovated? Or just out on patrol and happening to pass by?"

Small talk wasn't necessarily her thing. It felt awkward at times, but she was interested in getting to know more people, especially fellow Knights.

"Care for a buddy for the evening either way?" She questioned deciding to get a little bit more to the point of her seeking his signature out when she had noted it.

Emrys stumbled back instinctively as the woman dropped, his heart nearly exploding in his chest, gloved fingers clutching the staff as he fumbled and almost dropped it. She hadn't even dropped directly in front of him, giving him space, but he was a nervous creature by habit, Emrys trying to calm himself, taking a few deep breaths.

At least she was Order side. That much he could relax on.

The smile was gentle, not threatening or intimidating, even if really everyone was intimidating. Emrys glanced at the offered hand, then swallowed and tentatively stretched out his own for her to shake, feeling marginally good about the fact that he'd been able to accomplish this one small task.

"E-Emrys," he said softly, his face flushed with embarrassment. "Of...Neptune."

An obvious fact, judging by his uniform, but he still blushed. Emrys curled his fingers around the staff.

"I...y-yes, something like t-that," he stammered. "I, u-um...I thought I w-would patrol around here, a little. And it...it looked interesting," he finished, somewhat lamely.

Her offer to patrol with him was startling, if only because Emrys was not used to it. He opened his mouth, then shut it again, and then managed to get out, "Y-yes, I w-wouldn't mind so much, um...if you w-wanted to join me. Are you just o-out p-patrolling...too?"

"Neptune?" She reiterated with a raised brow. "You're the first Neptune knight I've met." She said lightly a smile on her face.

She studied the man for a second. It wasn't hard to tell his body was tense and that he was uncomfortable. Why? She wasn't sure. Perhaps he wasn't much of a people person? That could be the answer. After all he looked like he had been completely taken by surprise by her arrival and her interest in staying around to introduce herself. Maybe just high strung then? Inwardly she snorted. That certainly could be the case and she wouldn't blame him one bit. Being a knight could be a stressful occupation.

"Well it's nice to meet you, Emrys. I am of Earth if that was obvious enough." She gestured to one of many Earth symbols on her uniform as she grinned. Plus ya know, all the green, brown and...well, she felt like she screamed 'typical Earth knight' from a mile away.

Glancing to the building of topic she sighed. "It looks like they're going to do something to it. Probably change it into apartments or something. It's a shame. They should try and salvage it and turn it into a functioning theatre again or something else that will at least utilize the aesthetic value of it instead of just changing into another boring complex."

Tilting her head to the side at his comment, red locks draped off her shoulders. "Yep! A-typical night tonight it seems, too. Though it will definitely be nice to have someone to chat to instead of going solo.

"So, interested in checking out the inside of this place? I know it's boarded up down here but I think I may have seen a roof access. We can check for any youma lurking around inside using it as a hide away." She shrugged. "Though I won't lie, I just really want to see the inside of the place." A grin and a chuckle followed. Hy-Brasil wanted to enjoy the evening and if it meant pretending to be a trespassing teen so she could do it, she was game. And, there could be a youma hiding out inside, using the abandoned building as a means to go undetected. If they found anything they'd be able to clear it out and make the space safe for the workers that were destined to begin repairs or demolition on the place.

"I've, erm...met one E-Earth knight before," said Emrys tentatively. "He's p-part of my brother's b-brigade. But, um, you're th-the second one," he added, flushing further still, because talking was hard, and he was not good at this whole communication thing, even if she was being calm about it.

He let his gaze flicker briefly to the uniform; the same colors as Falias, and while Emrys wasn't even that familiar with Falias, Celsus trusted him and liked him, which made it all the more easy to feel even the tiniest bit comfortable around him. Somehow the similarities made him relax, just a smidge further, Emrys' grasp loosening slightly.

His eyes went to the theater. "It's....a b-bit of a shame, yes. It's...it's one of those, u-um..." He flapped a hand awkwardly, trying to remember the right word. "Landmarks. It w-would be nice to have it r-restored again, to, y'know...f-former glory, and all that."

Hy-Brasil's offer to patrol together still felt nervewracking, as did the invitation to look inside, but Emrys nodded, after only a small hesitation. He would never get anywhere if he didn't actually try, after all. And she was being kind and friendly to him, which made all the difference, even if it made him equally as flustered.

"Let's go, then," he said, and took a few steps forward towards the ladder access in the alleyway beside the building. "I d-don't mind, I want to see the inside as well."

"Oh! Is your brother also a Knight then?" She smiled a bit sadly at that. "I bet it's really nice to have a family member to turn to and share your powered problems with. Though..." She paused and shook her head. "I wouldn't wish for my baby brother to be involved in all of...this." She waved her between the two of them, referencing the whole powered thing. "Though...it is a nice thought."

Talking with Emrys it was pretty obvious he wasn't comfortable. Whether it was with her, where they were, or just being powered up in general the Squire couldn't figure it out. She was patient though and wanted to encourage him to relax around her. She certainly had no intentions to hurt him. In fact, she was hoping to make a new friend out of the situation. She needed more of those.

"It definitely is a landmark and was probably quite the sight in it's glory days." Hy could imagine people, dressed in fine clothes, lines up outside waiting to head in and see whatever production was taking place that evening. "It's a shame." She remarked quietly to herself.

"Right. Let's get in there and check it out. See what the place might have looked like before they completely destroy it." She turned and smiled at Emrys and led him up to the top of the building where she had seen the roof entrance. As expected it had been left in disarray and was easy enough to open with a few good tugs.

"I've no idea where this will lead, but let's find out." She grinned. "A bit of an adventure for us."

"He is," said Emrys, and talking about Celsus somehow made it easier, because that was an easy topic - sort of. At the very least, he was a familiar topic, which was something that he could focus on. "He's a knight of C-Chronos, b-but he's been a knight m-much longer than I have."

He couldn't say that he blamed her for not wanting to get her family involved. Emrys' expression softened a little as he said tentatively, "It...it d-does get, u-um...anxious. But it's a-also a little...nice...knowing that, y'know...s-someone has my b-back all the time."

He blushed furiously at this, but the communication was getting slowly easier the more he talked. Emrys followed Hy-Brasil up to the top and peered curiously through the darkened roof entrance, wondering if there was anything...untoward in the building. There were, at least, no youma, or other power signatures; only the two of them.

"Let's go," said Emrys, more firmly than he actually felt. "I, u-um...yes. I do like adventures."

"Celsus?" She paused and looked at him. "Celsus is your brother?" She laughed and shook her head. "Small world. I've met him before. He's super nice, like you." She said with a grin. Hy wasn't lying. Emrys, though a bit high strung, seemed to be a rather kind person and she could appreciate that.

When they moved to the roof, she joined Emrys in peering into the darkness that was the roof access. "Hm...I wonder if there's even any electricity. Otherwise this may be a short lived adventure." She mused aloud as she glanced back at her new partner in crime.

"Alright then. Here we go." She winked and descended the stairs. Using the railing, which was thankfully in good condition, as a way to guide herself. The light from the open door didn't go far considering the time of night. There was very little ambient light able to filter into the stairwell.

A few flights down, Gwen felt her hand run across a door. "I really hope there's a light switch on the other side of this." She muttered as she looked back to where she assumed Emrys was. "I've found a door. Give me a second here to check it out."

She fumbled for a handle before grabbing hold and opening the metal door with a creek. Immediately she reached around along the door frame for any sort of switch. Anything that could trigger a light. At one point she kept a foot in the door as she reached even further and finally found success. A flick of a switch and...nothing. "Fablous." She groaned.

Popping back out to the stairwell she squinted into the darkness where she could decipher Emrys's form. "No lights here. Do you want to keep going and try another floor, explore this one a bit more and see if maybe it's just this part that has no power or call the adventure a dud?"

He glanced up in slight surprise; but only slight because it seemed like everyone somehow knew Celsus. Still, it did make Emrys relax a little, his expression softening somewhat as he took in Hy-Brasil's cheerful grin, his pulse slowing just enough to make him less on the verge of flight.

"T-thank you," he said, feeling his cheeks flush warm at the compliment. "And y-yes, he's my b-brother. He's...very well known in this w-world, I'm c-coming to realize."

It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, either; the more people that Celsus knew, the better and easier and safer it was for Emrys to know them as well. He had spent too long within the Negaverse; he hardly trusted anyone these days, let alone anyone powered up. It was a lot less stress inducing to know that his brother had met someone beforehand.

Emrys followed along behind Hy-Brasil, letting go of his staff with one hand in order to brace himself as he descended the steps. Their footsteps echoed loudly, and after a moment, he said hesitantly, "It's not - I mean, it c-could be worse. Though I do w-wish there was light..."

It would be less nervewracking. Emrys peered after the other Squire, eyes wide as he stared into the darkness.

"M-maybe another floor, lower down," he suggested, after a moment. "Maybe it's just the - the higher flowers that are w-without power."

Gwen nodded but realized that Emrys probably couldn't see her and quickly voiced her agreement. "Alright, another floor down. You could be right,t ey may have just cut power to parts of the building they aren't working in right now." It certainly was a feasible notion. Why waste money on power that you were using? It would be much more economical to work on the building in sections.

So, the squire turned to exit the floor they had popped onto to hear further down in the darkness of the stairwell. It was thankfully not littered with any rubble or unexpected items considering that they she couldn't even see her hands in front of her face. Instinct along let her find each step faltering only when then came to a landing and needed to find the beginning of the next flight.

"I've only met your brother once myself. I mean, I've seen him off and on in meetings or larger battles, but for the most part we've only spoken once." She said continuing their conversation from earlier. "I'd like to rectify that at some point. Perhaps meet up with the both of you one day." If Hy-Brasil was serious with herself, Emrys was very different from his brother. There was a meekness and flighty air about him while Celsus was much more confident and carried himself as such. Of course that was all from one single meeting and the off times she noted him from afar, but first impressions could say a lot about a person.

Finding the door by sliding her hand along the wall, Hy-Brasil turned the handle when her fingers found it. She propped it open for Emrys to join her before she floundered around for a switch. As it was, it seemed this floor's switch was not in the same location as the last one. "Hey, did you find a light switch anywhere?" She questioned. "I am not finding it over where I thought it would be."

Perhaps they had already begun work on this floor and moved some things around? It was impossible to tell in the darkness.

He was feeling marginally better with each second that passed and each step taken, even if each step taken was also something very, very out of Emrys' comfort zone. "R-right, um t-they might just have been...working f-from the first floor u-up, y'know..?"

He wished Eurydike was here, then was immediately ashamed of himself for even considering that, because what kind of person was he if he couldn't even do a damn patrol or have a bloody conversation without his fiance? He needed to actually learn how to do things without him, even if he missed him when he wasn't around.

"He's been around a l-lot longer than I h-have," Emrys admitted, as he shuffled forward carefully on the next landing, dipping a booted foot down first to make sure he had the step level beneath him before letting his full weight onto it. "I-I've only been awake for...for about a year now, but he's...been awake m-much longer. I t-think almost s-six years now. Maybe more."

Or maybe it was less, he couldn't remember. Emrys heard the friendly note to Hy-Brasil's voice and smiled a little in the dark, even if she couldn't see it. "He - he'd probably like it too. He's a g-good person, and he likes kn-knights a lot."

He came to a stop just behind the other Squire on the next landing, Emrys clutching his staff and peering curiously around, even if he couldn't see a single thing except a lot of blackness and vague, shifting spots of blacker blackness that indicated Hy-Brasil's presence.

"Um - let me - "

He put out a hand, patting cautiously at the air until his fingers met the wall. This was ridiculously out of his comfort zone as well, but he couldn't just leave Hy-Brasil to fend for herself, after all. His gloved hand smoothed over the drywall - or at least, what he assumed - and hoped - was drywall, because he didn't want to consider it being anything else - until Emrys felt something hard and vaguely switch shaped.

"M-maybe - one sec - let - let m-me - "

Emrys fumbled with it, prodding, and then -

With a slight buzzing noise, yellowish lights burst into existence around them, momentarily blinding Emrys, who flung up a hand instinctively, wincing at the sudden change from pitch black to brightness.

"I - I found it," he said, after a second, quite unnecessarily.
