User ImageTaking the time to look around she stood up and stretched her wings. Letting out a heavy sigh she walked towards a nearby stream she was within proximity to and drank from the cool waters. The weather had been warming up as of late and for that she was pleased. While the cold had been manageable she definitely didn't want it to linger for any longer than it already has.

Finishing her drink she gave a good stretched and walked on. She was just traveling through the area and just hoping to pass through without too many issues. Her temper had been calmed for the most part but she still got these violent mood swings and urges, though she was working through them.

Flicking her ears she thought she heard something.

Episca ducked her head and emerged from the thicket she'd managed to squeeze herself into the night before. It hadn't been ideal but it was much better than the cold breeze that had swept through the area the night before after the sun had set.

She yawned and stretched out her wings and legs getting out the kinks. She felt a pop in her wings and shivered a bit. "Oou~" that had felt good and had been much needed after a cramped and cold night. "Blech..." she made a face right after and smacked her lips and flicked her tongue out a few times, her entire mouth feeling dry. First task of the day was decided then: find water. She sniffed the air and attempted to get her bearings. She'd only come into this area a day or two before finally having been willing to stray from her mother and grandmother's home and watchful eye. The decision had been terrifying but it was high time to see if she was capable of controlling herself without someone making sure she could do it. Oh, the delights of her mixed heritage.

Having caught the scent of water she sighed and ducked under a low hanging branch and started off in the right direction. Her stomach growled reminding her she hadn't eaten since early the day before and that food should follow water. Well that was the morning accounted for which meant she wouldn't be moving out until early afternoon.

She wandered into the area around the stream she'd scented and was so focused on figuring out what direction she was going to travel in she almost missed the other female standing nearby. Out of the corner of her eye she caught the large leathery wings and she nearly jumped out of her skin completely missing the single horn on the other mare. Oh heavens help her! She'd wandered into a full kalona's territory! "I'm sorry!" she squeaked out turning her head expecting the worse.

YAY for a day off XD

It wasn't long before she realized that she was no longer alone, a voice called out and the scent of the other hit her before she saw her. By smell alone she wasn't triggered to want to attack which was good and she turned to face the owner.

Her eye's peered at her curiously, she had the wings and tail of a Kalona but that was about it. Licking her fanged teeth slightly she was still curious about this mare that had stumbled into her path this morning. Her apology was somewhat offsetting but she could understand why she had been so quick to spurt our the words, Sylvanna wasn't really one to make others feel comfortable by looks alone.

"I don't know why you're apologizing. Have you done something I should forgive you for?" She never claimed to be the smoothest of talkers.

She did like the way the mare was colored, like a pale morning sunrise. She was pretty. "I'm just passing through." She added wanting her to be aware that this wasn't her spot of land.

Episca slowly opened an eye when nothing expected happened. No taunts, no fangs, no hooves. That was, unexpected. Instead what she did get was an blunt but honest inquiry. Above all else the relief she hadn't spent the night in someone else's territory. Well that wasn't entirely true, the area could be large and under the control of someone who lived deep in the forest and just hadn't come out this far to find her and this other mostly kalona mare. That didn't put her in the clear but it at least put her in a neutral gray area of this other mare. She hoped.

"Ah...um..." she managed to straighten up and stop visibly cowering and furled her wings properly against her side. She really had to stop using them as a shield, injury would only ground her for who knew how long and that was a less than appealing option. "I thought, well, that you lived here and well I had trespassed. She took a moment to look over the other female. On second glance she saw her fears were at least unfounded that the other mare was a full blood. That horn definitely didn't belong on any kalona or that tail. Was that unicorn? She wracked her brain for a moment before feeling confident that the other mare was in part unicorn.

"I too am just passing through." she said in a small voice. "Just came looking for the water and maybe somewhere to graze." she glanced up towards the other mare again and noted the markings on her face, chest and foreleg. Reminded her of mist in the morning rising off a pond or lake or smoke off a fire...although the second one was far less pleasant.

She watched the female as she stammered with her words and attempted to make herself look more firm than what she was putting off. She refrained from rolling her eyes, she was trying she should at least give her that, right? She WAS trying to be a more host-like character and it wasn't going THAT bad, at least not yet.

"Assuming just makes an a** out of you and me." How long had see been wanting to say that? "I haven't really seen much in the area, and you're honestly the first living thing I've encountered." She moved on from the topic of her assumptions. It was forgotten now unless she decided to bring it up again.

When she mentioned graze she almost cringed. Grass, wheat and leaves, it almost made her sick but she did like berries. And if she was being honest, wheat wasn't that bad. "I can show you a spot you might like to eat at." There had been a nice spot she had passed by on the way here, while it wasn't a place SHE would like she figured this mare might enjoy it.

Episca bristled slightly at the mare's comment about assumptions. All things considered it was quite natural to think that the first individual you met in an unfamiliar place was a local. It would be rude to assume otherwise! She knew she'd be quite offended if some stranger walked up to her and acted as if they owned her territory or didn't care they were trespassing! Really! A little civility went a long way. Although she supposed there wasn't really such a thing when it came to certain breeds.

She wasn't entirely sure she wanted to get into a verbal sparring match with the other mare and nodded her head. "I see." she glanced down at the stream, her parched mouth begging to be quenched but she at least didn't want to seem rude so refrained from just practically diving into the water.

At the mention of a grazing spot her ears perked slightly. "That would be most appreciated. Thank you." she nodded and then finally gave in and took a long drink from the stream.

At least the territory thing had been dropped completely, she didn't really feel like arguing right now anyway about formalities, not that she was anything close to being formal.

"Follow me, it's not very far." She said as she turned with a flick of her tail to lead them towards the area. The one plus side was there were a few berries bushes so she could at least eat some of those. She was hankering a nice rabbit right about now but that could wait, plus this mare didn't exactly seem the type to want to eat meat.

It was just a hunch, she wasn't going to assume anything at least not yet.

She followed the other mare and looked around the area curiously. Despite the cold temperature of the night before, the day was looking to be much more comfortable. That was the problem with early spring, she thought to herself, pleasant one moment and dismal the next. At least it hadn't rained recently making walking a slog and flying near impossible with moisture adding extra weight to one's wings. She wondered if this was unclaimed territory but then thought better of it. While the area was nice she figured that upon closer inspection there would be a plethora of little issues, hence why no one had claimed it previously. This spot was probably just a convenient spot for anyone passing by due to the availability of water and grazing.

She carefully stepped over a fallen branch and then realized she'd been so caught up in her own thoughts that she could quite possibly being rude to the other mare by not offering some light conversation. Although the other mare didn't seem like much of a talker but manners was manners and if the other mare wasn't going to offer any then she might as well. Unless the other mare didn't want to talk to her about anything, which given the silence was heavily implied. However, Episca hadn't tried to talk to her therefore she was just making assumptions about the talkative state of the other mare.

She chewed for a moment on her bottom lip and then glanced up at the other mare in front of her. Should she? Should she not? It couldn't hurt to try. right?

She let out a small sigh. Sometimes wished she was more like her father. Granted her mother said he was beyond crazy but he at least seemed to be decisive enough to know what he wanted when he wanted it. Episca was not so lucky and instead spent far too much time in her own head trying to figure out the situation. Usually to the point of going way to far and completely the wrong direction.

Well that was about to change! Time to be more decisive! That was the point of her journey right? Well, that and trying to see that her impulse control was as good as she thought it was. Thus far she had felt the urge to harass zero small animals. A good thing in her opinion.

Alright! She would introduce a conversation topic with the other mare! She took a deep breath and lifted her head slightly, only to immediately get her horn caught in a low hanging branch. She squeaked for a moment and got herself free, only to lose her footing and stumble a few steps before regaining her composure and glancing at the other half-breed and hoping she hadn't seen that.
