The text arrived a week prior, but had been on schedules, calendars, and bulletin boards for the last month. Ever since the destruction of the old building, the quarterly division meetings had traveled from place to place, from outside tents, to small offices, to the underground labs. But finally the division had settled into the new lab building and once again, they were treated to a large and tidy conference room, with its comfortable leather chair, drink station, and the corner walls made of windows that made the entire room feel like it was floating above the island. The windows were, perhaps, a dig at other divisions. Doctor H sat at one end of the table, quietly discussing something with the hung-over looking guy in a tacky bowling shirt who was somehow their division assistant. On the other side of the lead was Sunny, looking irritable as usual. There's a hint of grey in her hair that hadn't been there last year. Dwight had a small box in front of him that he restlessly fiddled with while Meredith, the R&D head tries sliding a file folder at him over and over again until it's reluctantly taken. As the last few hunters file in, the doctor clears his throat. "The past year was both quiet as well as productive for our division. It is to be hoped we all do as well this year. The budget is very healthy at the moment, so don't be afraid to ask for any increases that may prove useful." There's a smile and a number of hunters look cautious. "You may begin." General OOC WELCOME TO THE LIFE DIVISION MEETING gaia_star [ IF YOU HAVE A PROJECT PROPOSAL/UPDATE ]: Feel free to simply post in A SHOUT POST STYLE explaining fundamentally what it is, what you do, and just some very base information. These meetings are meant to allow your character to propose projects and ideas, they can be used as a quick way to get NPC/GM approval or as a way to enable certain things that interest you for your character! They can also simply be used to introduce your characters to others in their division, both players and NPCs. Or just as a way to tell everyone what they've been working on! You do not have to present a project. Every Life hunter on Deus is assumed to be present at the meeting. 14 year old Jr Hunters are allowed to attend and watch the meeting to get an idea about what the division does. This meeting takes place at a fixed point in time. If you are considering de-aging your character, please do not post them here as an adult. gaia_star [ LECTURE BONUS - Attending the meeting with at least 400 words is +1 bonus point. (so if you write a full 800, that is a total of 2 rp points) - Proposals earn +2 bonus points - A follow up RP working on approved projects with at least 2 other hunters will earn + 2 bonus points (usable once) - FREE RAFFLE FOR POSTING GO HERE - In addition you will be able to purchase these things for RP points. Once used, these rp points CAN NOT BE USED AGAIN: - 10 RP points: Request "hands on" training with any of the Life division NPCs. This will set up a PRP where they go on a mission to teach and test skills. (PM lizbot) - 25 RP points: Clearance to begin construction and basic supplies/funds of any part of towns for their small business (ie: a hot dog stand, a donut stand, we don't care). - 50 RP points: Portal compatible laptop (FULL HUNTER ONLY). Your character as long as they are carrying that laptop, can now use the portals OS to request a portal to almost anywhere in the world at any time/location, and as long as the laptop can ping the satellite signal, request a return portal back from any location. This can only be used once per mission for a max of 3 people at a time. **PORTALS OS MUST BE TIED TO LIGHTHOUSE APPROVAL ON DEUS TO LEAVE** Specialization OOC Specialized Life Hunters are encouraged to create group content such as experimentation RPs and Missions! Icly they get bonus pay & greater budget+supplies for these activities. OOCly they will earn and also be able to distribute extra RP points via this content. Trainees/Intermediates/Hunters Your rank effects how much of a budget you're given, as well as extra techs to help you, work space allotted, and equipment. Trainees are generally encouraged to help higher ranking Life hunters in their projects, as trainees don't have much clearance in regards to being taught runic coding.

Felicia remained absent.
--
Someone small, swathed in layers of too-big clothing, peeked into the room, leaning inwards from behind the doorway. His grey gaze darted between the tables and drinks and the people already there, blanching internally. With a deep breath, he scurried to the drink station, taking two for himself before retreating to a corner. Carefully, he set the drinks on the floor, and then tugged a chair back to the corner with him. He then curled up into it, clutching his styrafoam cup of coffee with both hands, quiet.

Kitty Peterson, also known to many hunters as Kiki or Princess, rose from her seat with pride in her posture. "I'm looking to expand my skill sets, and learn to predict the weather here on Deus. From normal weather to anything Fear related we might be able to better prepare ourselves for." She directed this to the higher ups, notably the more Science oriented ones.

Lawrence didn't show up to the Life division meeting because he wanted to be there, he showed up simply because he didn't want to get in trouble for missing it and end up with more debt on his shoulders.
Mikael was in tow, very very excited about the meeting as always and making an immediate beeline to the drink station.
Lawrence was just plain irritated at the casual comment about the budget being fine, aware of just how needless his current docked wages actually were. There was no way in hell he was going first, so he simply waited to judge other people's effort.

America burst in wearing a shirt pencil shirt, white blouse, tie, and a pair of glasses she didn't need. Giving the doctor a cheerful wave which he vaguely acknowledged and shooting any present members of Mimsy Fam some Epic Fingerguns, the girl took a seat by Shrimpy McSadface and whipped out a steno pad and pen from her bag. "Wassupppp," she cooed quietly at Leslie as the rest of hunters were still arriving.

Leslie hesitantly raised one hand, wiggling his fingers at America in a small wave. "Looks like nerds," he muttered, suspicious but not entirely disinterested. "This place looks too nice. It's weird."

Sherry sat in the nice chair, stealing looks out of the very nice windows. She was very happy they got to have their meeting in this very lovely room. It added an air of official-ness, or something. In between stealing looks outside, she glanced around the room and shuffled her papers while she waited for everyone to arrive.
When it seemed like most people had arrived, she decided she might as well get her part over and done with. It was just a small update, after all. Nothing too noteworthy. Just share with the group and then she could relax.
“I have an update,” she said, taking great effort to not add an um or two in there. She smiled in the doctor’s direction then looked around the room. There were a few new faces, so she decided an introduction was in order. “I’m Sherry, by the way, and I specialize in research and exploration of ruins, for the purpose of finding artifacts and such.”
She looked down at her notes, moving on paper aside before looking back up again. “I recently spent about six months at our base near the Northern Mediterranean coast. There are a series of caves there that do seem to house various odd and old collections of things. Mostly all old human relics, though we did uncover a few Fear based creatures lurking about.” She looked down again and turned a page over. “It’s nothing too exciting to report, really.”
She took a deep breath. “However. I would like to continue research in this area. An increase to my budget to get more hands digging in the dirt and cataloguing things would really help out. I’m also planning a few more small missions to related sites in the area.” She looked around the room. “If anyone is interested in going you are more than welcome.”
Some more papers were shuffled. “I think that’s it from my department, unless anyone has any questions.” She glanced around the room again. “You can always find me after the meeting of course.” Sherry was sure there were far more interesting things to be talked about. She was already sitting back down.

Roland didn't creep into the room, but he did keep to the outside of it, mostly so he could also take a look out the windows mouthing a small whoa now and again. More interesting was America was here and someone else who looked as young as they both did. So he made his way over to there little spot in time to catch a comment about the place looking too nice. "Well this is a science division right? Wouldn't they have like, the nicest of nice stuff?"

Melvin arrived to the meeting because he had never missed one before, and because he had some followup proposals to request. As he moved, he didn't hesitated to slide easily into the seat next to Lawr and look straight ahead as if he just so happened to want to sit there for no one reason than it was open. He neatly set a folder before him and a notepad else he be given any ideas or advice during the meeting.
Very slowly, he looked over at Lawr and a slow, drawing smile came upon his features. "Hello." He said to both Lawr and Mik.

Melvin's arrival was the thing which finally pushed Lawrence to move from where he'd been lingering to stand and speak up in Sherry's wake. He didn't address the other blonde man, knowing he wasn't allowed to.
He'd been thinking quite a bit about what little he had to offer and thanks to a few more suggestions from Rodney and thought about what H had already found somewhat desirable in him he'd come up with something that was at the very least worth a shot.
He addressed the Doctor and deliberately did not lead with his name or an introduction, those who knew who he was did so, he wasn't about to introduce himself to more of them.
"First and foremost I would like to continue my medical studies for the coming year or so in order to obtain my qualification as a human treating medical professional for the benefit of the Organisation."
He took a deep breath and exhaled. "Secondly I would like to propose a specialisation in the direction of both acting and disguise. Frankly the quality of our undercover operations is unacceptably poor and when people go in golems they threaten both the cover of the organisation and endanger much more besides, so too do people when they behave in a non-covert manner on civilian missions. I was formerly in Death but left because the leadership is incredibly unprofessional."
He shook his head. "What I would propose is monitoring golem excursions to Halloween and grading - and if needed, disciplining - those involved in endangering us and our security. Also classes in how to effectively create a persona or robust cover story and disguise for the human world."
"I would require access to the golem feeds, funding in order to improve the quality of our disguises and fake IDs - many of which are horribly outdated and wouldn't fool a night club bouncer - and perhaps the added incentive for those committed to the project of a golem which does not change between missions."
He didn't expect H to agree, but it was worth an attempt in any event. "I understand, as stated this veers into Death's domain but they are frankly incompetent bordering on a liability."

The doctor nodded toward Kiki and Mary began writing quickly beside him, "I'll see that you are enrolled in a several meteorology courses. They'll have to be online, outside of tests. I'll give you the next quarter to get adjusted, but the next you will be required to start applying this to a study of Fear related weather occurrences and signs of impact in normal weather." Sherry got a pleased smile, "Just hand in the details of what you need, budget-wise, by the end of the day and it will be so. Life Division grows in both direction, both toward the future and deep into the past." Mary made a face as Lawrence stood up, but the assistant at least refrained from rolling his eyes. The doctor remained smiling. "Many of our undercover operations fall under the hands of an entirely different division. But it would be useful to ah, give them a hand. You will not have the authority to discipline others, I'm afraid, simply guide and educate. But budget will be allotted per-training mission, simply turn in an itemized list of necessary supplies and Mr. Worth will see that you receive material of good quality." As in the money would not be fully subject to Lawr's discretion. "You'll find that, on the whole, our ID's and false documentations are rather good, Mr. Michaels. One must wonder why you received ones of poor quality. A mystery for another day, perhaps." He gave the man a wan smile and gestured for the next person to speak.

Elated, and actually rather excited, Kiki sat down and made notes with a pink gel pen into her Planner Journal about the exciting changes her life was about to take.

Despite having been encouraged to attend the Life meeting, there was something about the room, the collective gathering of Life hunters, or perhaps the Lead, that had Ezekiel feeling vaguely out of place. Certainly the swirling Mist on the back of his coat failed to bend in with the branching trees that marked everyone else's. Regardless though, he remained where he was near the back of the room beside the door, notebooks on his lap, glasses slipping down his nose as he watched the other's take turns giving their reports, their proposals, and requests for additional funding. He'd wait until there was a natural lull, a slight pause between one hunter sitting and another rising to their feet, and would take the opportunity himself. Pushing his glasses up, he'd turn pale eyes on the good doctor at the front of the room. "Sir," he greeted, dipping his head in a small nod. "I'm not a part of your division, though I would like to be, and I believe the specialization I've been working towards falls in line with the sort of work done by some in Life." At that he'd shift the notebook, the fingers of his free hand splaying over the well worn front cover. "Before coming to Deus I was working towards a major in marine biology, and I'd like to put that knowledge and interest to use here. I've been going through the library, as well as interviewing hunters on island, in an effort to compile anything I can find on aquatic Fear based life forms." More than just them, but that was the bulk of his work. "I would like to continue on with that work, and hopefully expand on to cover monitoring and documenting the effects of long term Fear exposure on marine life near known hot spots. "Harley Kiddo, a fellow marine biology student former to Deus, has been my research partner." He wasn't entirely sure about adding that last part, but left it stand. Harley had been putting in just as much work as he had, and she deserved the recognition.

Terry had arrived without a word to the meeting, choosing to sit in the back more to observe his fellow Life Division hunters instead of going with his desire to sit by or behind Melvin. He was good at burying his own wants in order to present an unremarkable front. Although in the back of his mind he couldn't help but wonder whether all the women on the island had the best fashion sense.
He forced his attention back to the proposals of the others. Terry didn't know what he could propose, wasn't entirely sure what he could or should specialize in. If it hadn't been the legacy wrecking havoc, it had been one mission after another. Terry needed to ground himself before he could even consider wanting to make a proposal.

Mik had waved at Melvin and then listened to what his dad had to say, finding the idea of him as a theatre teacher probably one of the least worrying things he could be doing. He was glad when H agreed and found himself hoping it would keep him busy.
Finally he had the courage to stand up himself.
"Uh, sir." he said anxiously, flinching a little at the attention of the room.
"My name is Mikael. You helped me last time start to learn how some runes work for my sandcastles, I really liked doing it. I'm not a hunter yet." And he didn't know how long it would be until he was. "I'm not sure where I am meant to be. I like it here, but I'm not smart, I paint and I like to make things."
He liked painting runes and seeing how altering their shape just a little changed how they worked, dreaming of making new ones. His weapon spoke in runes, not the same as the ones they used but something he could almost see when he heard it.
"I don't know if I should go to moon." he said. "I want to be useful, I want to do the right thing."
He just knew he was very, very lazy and fundamentally shy of physical work, something he wasn't sure was suited to moon.
"Art isn't a job, I guess." he said, looking at Lawrence without realising he was doing it.
