Since they met at the music store, Cassadega had likely blown up poor Ilian's phone. Most of the time, they were messages about this cool piano cover of a popular song she thought he might like. Or she would send him some classical piece and a some hip-hop or pop song she thought could mash with it well.

She'd seen him at least once after their initial meeting, but that clearly hadn't been recent enough since she'd pulled up his contact info on her phone and had been idly typing a message to him as she flitted about her kitchen.

Long strand of lime green had been braided so that they weren't hanging freely, wild strands tamped down by bobby pins, and she had a mixing bowl pressed against her hip. Loud music blasted from the stereo system, walls thrumming from the base, and Cass, not for the first time, was grateful that she'd found a little townhome that wasn't connected to any other buildings so that she didn't get as many noise complaints.

She'd gotten lucky, certainly.

Spooning the last of her batter into the cupcake liners, she slid a tray into the oven and wiped her hands on the half apron tied around her waist. Then, she finished her text to Ilian.

[Text to Music Fingers: Hey, come hang out. I made too many cupcakes and I need someone to eat them.]

Balancing work and his duty as a General wasn’t too difficult. He didn’t mind working retail, after all. It was a fun challenge most of the time, and he didn’t mind suggesting other things for customers to purchase. And more often than not a charming smile was enough to get them to sign up for the store’s credit card account, which meant he got more bonuses for his efforts.

He was just getting off when he got the text from the girl with the lime green hair. She definitely was something else. She had energy and spunk and a lot of potential, from what Ilian could see. He typed a quick text back to say he was on his way and then headed over.

It didn’t take long for him to arrive at her place, and he lifted the back of his hand to ring the doorbell of her townhouse. At this point he’d already decided what he wanted to do; it was just a matter of whether or not she would be able to handle it. He didn’t want to kill her, but if there were any alarms that went up that she might be associated with the White Moon, he would just have to act quickly.

"What kind of cupcakes?" he asked in greeting when she opened the door. He was dressed business casual, having just come from work, although he would prefer jeans and tee-shirts. Today he wore dark grey slacks and a forest green button down shirt, the top button of his collar undone, and the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His hair was a mess of curls, but at least with Lovely's insistence, he maintained it relatively well.

Cass had been testing her frosting when she got the return text, licking it off her finger with a grin. Of course Ilian said yes, she had expected nothing less, but there was that swell of pleasure from getting what she wanted swirling in her belly. Pleased to know that he was on her way, she busied herself with the task at hand, which was, frosting three dozen cupcakes as the final dozen baked.

Her guest appeared to have perfect timing, the oven timer dinging right before the chime of her doorbell. Pulling the fresh batch and checking if they were properly baked, Cass set them on the oven and slid over to the door.

"Well, don't you look nice," she greeted, leaning against the door with her hand still on the handle while she looked him up and down. Cass herself was dressed in athletic pants and a raglan band tee. "German chocolate, lemon drop, and a tray of red velvet." Probably overly extensive, especially when one considered that she hardly ever ate any of them herself.

She shrugged and offered, "I was bored," as way of explanation. "Come on in. Anything I've got is free game."

Ilian would find the kitchen straight ahead by the stairs and the living room on the right side. There was a couch, a decent size flat screen and a few bookshelves. Beneath the stairs was a door that led to a small bathroom.

Ilian snorted softly in amusement when Cassadega commented on his clothes. “Thanks, I just got off work,” he explained as he stepped into her house, looking around at everything.

“You were bored? So you just bake things?” he asked, noting how everything in her house looked much better quality than in his own dumpy apartment. But it wasn’t as though he asked for things to work out the way they did. Besides, he was getting by just fine.

“So what else do you do in your free time? It seems like you have a lot of it. You dance, you bake, you go to school,” he prodded, trying not to seem too curious about her or what she did. But he was curious, because so far she seemed to have potential. He just needed to know a little more to be sure.

“Have you ever thought about doing something more with your life? Or are you satisfied where you are?” he asked, taking slow steps into her kitchen. It would be dangerous if he powered up before he was sure she wouldn’t absolutely reject the idea of being recruited into the Negaverse.

"Inquiring minds would like to know where the elusive Ilian works," she commented, casually enough to imply that she didn't care if he chose to keep the information to himself. Not everyone was proud of where they worked and Cass assumed that she would learn about it eventually. After all, she didn't have plans of letting the brunet slip out of her life any time soon.

"I do a lot in my free time," she answered with a shrug, returning to the kitchen to swipe some frosting off a cupcake and pop her finger into her mouth. She didn't bother making a show of it like she might've with a different audience, because she'd already started learning that most attempts fell flat with him. "Come on, eat one. Otherwise, it's wasted time." A bright green brow was arched expectantly.

"I work too, but..." Her cat-grin was back, "I don't think my job would interest you much and...well I don't need to work often if tips are good." Some people would likely frown upon her choice in work but it paid her bills with minimal effort and was a good workout. She would tell them to take their opinions and shove it up -

"I dabble in people," she added, but didn't elaborate. "But that gets boring too."

Bright eyes narrowed at the twist in the conversation, Cass suddenly wondering if she pegged Ilian wrong and had just invited some jesus-preaching person into her house. "Depends on what you mean. Sky's the limit right? But if you're trying to sell me some god bullshit, I'm gonna have to turn you down. If it's something else...well keep talking handsome."

"The elusive Ilian will remain elusive," he frowned, not wanting her to get ideas about figuring out where he worked so she could come and bother him. He didn’t need the distraction, and he especially didn’t need to lose his job, even though it was just a minimum wage retail job.

Her grin made him curious, but he didn’t push her into telling him since he’d just declined the request to tell her where he worked. Instead, he picked up one of the cupcakes from the counter, carefully unwrapping it. He took a quick bite for taste as she spoke, and then let out a small laugh at her comment and sharper expression.

"Do you really think I’m the type for that?" he asked, and it was his turn to grin in amusement. This could be dangerous, he reminded himself. He just needed to keep in mind that if she ended up being a senshi or even a knight, things could be worked out. It would be a shame to have her memory erased, but at least it was better than killing her.

"No, I’m talking about power. I’m talking about your life being useful. You’ve seen all those news reports about people attacking the city, haven’t you? What if I said I could offer you the power to protect yourself and those you care about?" he wondered, watching her as he finished peeling the cupcake and taking another bite. She impressed him so far. Maybe there would be something that would appeal to her that he said. Maybe not.

"Pity," she said in a breathy sigh. "Oh well, more unknowns makes you more interesting." And Cass liked interesting, a lot. "Don't worry, I like a challenge," she teased, going far enough to offer him a wink when she snagged a lemon cupcake for herself. Not once since he stepped in had she looked away from him, too interested in understanding the little bits of him that made him into Ilian.

She knew he was a piano player and he was a composer. His voice wasn't too bad, he apparently worked at a place that required a nice shirt and pants, and he was willing to come over to her place without really knowing her. Maybe it was his youth or maybe it was an impulsive nature, she hadn't quite figured it out yet, but she wanted to.

"If I did, I wouldn't have invited you over." Cass's morals were loose at best, with enough things notched into her belt to consider her a heathen by a good catholic mom's standards.

"Power always comes with a catch Il," she cooed, taking a nice bite of the cupcake she held. There was a fluttering in her belly that was telling her trust him, go for it and Cass always trusted her instincts. "Tell me the catch and I'll consider the offer."

He stared at her, taking a moment to realized she’d shortened his name. It wasn’t as though he went by anything other than Ilian or Jones as a civilian, so of course he was going to give her a strange, curious look.

But more importantly, she still seemed intrigued about everything. He wasn’t too sure if she was convinced about the whole power thing yet, and he didn’t really blame her because that wasn’t really the reason he’d joined the Negaverse, but she also hadn’t brushed him aside yet.

"Your loyalty," he said after a moment. That was really the sum of it all. Sure there were more things involved, but when everything boiled down to it, it was a matter of what she was willing to offer.

"Some of your time as well, but whatever you can’t handle, I can take care of for you," Ilian explained as he watched her and her reactions. "If you agree, you’ll be under my protection, and you’ll have my loyalty."

He knew it was probably difficult to believe that having him on her side for whatever happens would be a good thing since they were close in age and he wasn’t very impressive looking, physically. But he was a General.

Ilian was staring at her, looking perplexed, but it didn't seem to phase Cass as she played with her lip ring and stared right back at him. Other people might have flinched or wavered but she did neither, an almost cheeky look on her face.

"Loyalty? That's all you're asking for?" Cass sounded amused, but also a little suspicious. That seemed like a low cost for something with a lot of potential but -

She looked Ilian over, thought about their meeting at the music store and everything that he had to offer her based on what she knew. There was a lot she didn't know of him, but that was also why she enjoyed him and had decided that she was going to make him part of her life one way or another. "Aw, you wanna spend more time with me? You just need to ask Il," she teased, giving him a wink and a slight. Her fingers were pressed delicately against the exposed skin of her chest.

"That's cute." She knew that wasn't how he meant it but it was in her nature to poke and prod. "So, if I accept. I get you and you get me." She cocked her head and lifted the hand on her chest slide up her neck and for her forefinger to press against her lip in thought.

"If that's the deal, then I'm in."

Maybe he needed to work on his tactic. He hadn’t exactly done this before. Sort of. He’d met Seth the night he was corrupted, and most of the work in scoping him out had been Aurostibite, who was undeniably more experienced in the matter of recruiting than he was.

But her agreeance came with both a swell of something almost like pride and surprise. After all, he wouldn’t have blamed anyone for not wanting to deal with a teenager.

"Alright," he said as he straightened up a little more, pausing to take another bite of the cupcake she’d made. "Do you know the park a few blocks down? Meet me there tonight at ten. I’d do it here, but…" he hesitated, looking around and knowing it would be dangerous to power up and potentially draw attention to where she lived. If he was going to turn her into his recruit, then he at least wanted her identity kept safe.

"These are really good," he added with another bite, glancing to where she had them on the counter and reaching to pick up another. "I can’t stay, but you won’t stand me up tonight, will you?" he asked, the comment too casual to be flirty, not even really noticing the way she touched her neck or chest or looks she gave him.

Ilian couldn't have been much younger than herself, with his youthful face marred by responsibility she wondered if he truly wanted. It didn't matter, ultimately, she decided, because she had made up her mind about the fact she was keeping him from the day they first met. Now, this was an opportunity to make him commit to her too in whatever weird capacity their friendship - they were friends as far as Cass was concerned - allowed.

Painted nails tugged a liner off of the soft cake as he talked, acidic eyes never leaving her companion's face. Frosting smeared over her pinkie and she licked it off absently, sucking on the finger contemplatively as he asked her to meet him elsewhere. "I know of it," she replied, brow arching curiously.

Whatever secretive thing Ilian wanted to induct her into must've been serious if he was refusing to do anything but vaguely mention it in her home. Cass didn't seem to mind though, even as her hair fell across her face when she tilted her head. "Why would I stand you up?" That seemed like a ludicrous idea.

Hadn't she just told him that she was in as long as she got him?

"You know, you're kinda dense," she pointed out with a grin and a ring of laughter. "It's cute." It wasn't often that she was up against someone who not only didn't respond to her come ons but didn't even seem to notice them.

"Scouts honor, boss." She held up two fingers in a mocking gesture. "I'll be there."

He hadn’t questioned her comment about him being dense, but instead just gave her a strange look as he turned to leave. But not before grabbing a couple more cupcakes because they were pretty good.

Ilian arrived at the agreed location just prior to Cassadega showing up, and while he didn’t voice his surprise or relief, he did nod to her in greeting, the tension in his shoulders easing a little as he looked her over. This young woman wasn’t stupid. He could tell that she wasn’t just blindly trusting him, but was probably just attempting to feel out the waters. There was a certain amount of caution, as he would expect from anyone intelligent, as she met him in the dark alley.

"You’re here, so I’ll take that as your consent," Ilian said, his voice low as he pushed off the wall he’d been leaning against as he waited. He knew he was being vague, and purposefully so. Talking about the Negaverse was dangerous in the open, because he didn’t know who would be around. But she hadn’t shown any hint of involvement with either side.

Which was why Ilian let his energy ripple through him, his clothing changing as he stepped towards her. His semi-casual clothing shifted into dark fabric, and epaulets and cape over his shoulders. There was no point in bringing out his weapon, so he didn’t, leaving it in subspace instead.

"You wanted power, so I’ll give it to you," he told her as he reached out, his hand pressing against her chest to reach inside, not wasting any time now that they were there.

While the teen thought it was odd that her new found bestie was making her meet at some weird third-party location when they could have just kept hanging out instead, she showed up just like she had promised. It was without a fuss, Cass looking completely relaxed and still very much in control and in her element. Meeting in a dark alley wasn't really her first choice, but she had made the decision to trust Ilian.

"Suppose you could." She replied cheekily, hands finding the front pockets of her shorts. Lime green eyes swept across him when he pushed off the wall and she seemed to hum in approval.

Nothing could have properly prepared her for the rippling change that engulfed the boy she knew - or thought she knew. Still, Cass managed to conceal her surprise outside of a quiet gasp. That wasn't expected. "Well, color me - " Her sentence was cut off, replaced by a sharp gasp as he reached for her chest.

Except...

It wasn't her chest, it was something past it and she tensed up, the desire to jerk back strong but her shock keeping her locked into place. This had gotten way weirder than she'd thought possible. "H-how the ******** are you doing that?"

But more importantly, why?

Nothing was happening. He could tell she was shocked and probably startled more now than she had been a few moments ago when he’d powered up in front of her. He had every intention of giving her the power he promised her, but why was it not working?

He was doing everything he’d done before, with the General-King’s help, but now it was still not working.

Unless…

Jet let out a growl, angry and frustrated at the situation. He’d hoped she would be normal, but instead it seemed as though there was something more to Cassadega than just another recruit, another Lieutenant in the fold.

"You’re coming with me," he hissed, reaching out to try and grab onto her arm before she had the thought to back away. "You’ll be Citrine from now on," he informed her, having already decided before meeting with her that night.

He waited only long enough to see if she had anything to say in response before tugging at the fabric of subspace, disappearing from that alleyway so he could drag another unwoken senshi to the General-King who had helped him before.
