(going to note here OOCly i havent written in a while so if this sucks i am sorry
Also this RP might end up just being drabbles spaced out over time LOL.
AND HELLO NERDS WHY ARE YOU READING MY POSTS ) Field study, who would have thought Caelius would have ever approved such a thing? For a intermediate, at least. Some might loath the idea of being away for so long, away from the familiarity - of the companionship. In some ways he missed people too, but if Quinn was honest to himself... he was fine being alone. His boss probably had some sort of ulterior motive, he mused while he took a bite of an apple (his breakfast), actually he was certain of it. The death lead did not move without counter moves, and counters to those moves planned well in advance. Still it was a shock to find his mission suggestion approved. Sure he had to use some of his own paycheck, but he was okay with that. Really as long as he was able to study his goals, knowledge was power. His hand now free it moved to scratch over a point, a marking that was the whole reason he was out here researching his given subject. The nightmares, the dreams, the visions, the absolutely-freaking-maniac happenings on home base. That was why he was here. He was here seeing what deaths absence was doing to the world. Entry 1 June 14th, 2016 I guess i should start this off with a hello? But i guess that is weird. Hello my name is Quinn Mcgonagall. If this is found please mail to *OBSCURE ADDRESS HERE* because likely it means i dropped it, or have come to a terrible end. I would ask you not to read this after this page, but i know how curiosity can be. So after this sentence i will be using a specially formulated ink that can't be seen by the naked eye once dry. This will be a journal accounting my field research on the subject of death, this is my first day.

July 1st 2016 Quebec City, Canada.
One of the locations sent to Quinn through the satellite required a bit of creative commuting as the promised portal never arrived. Thankfully, if he checked his given bank card, someone by the name of "Oz" had deposited a five digit number in US currency to his account, and three guesses were definitely not needed as to whom. The invoice receipt through texts simply said, 'Pay when returned'.
It was warm that day, and from the list of coordinates given to Quinn to investigate, this one required nearly two bus rides away from the city, both of them a minimum two hour trip. He would arrive at a flat area, abandoned farmland, overlooking a massive river gorge. It was almost quiet, the bare settlements of a forest in the distance.
There were dead animals littered liberally: cattle, pigs, and even local wildlife, and in the distance a dilapidated farm. They animals looked like they had died nearly a week ago, their bodies already in a state of atrophy and decay. It smelled terrible.
Inside the farm was a deceased old couple. They seemed to have also died peacefully, bodies thin and frail. There were no signs of disease or struggle, they had simply gone peacefully. Upstairs, there was their son, a middle-aged man who might have been healthy if his skin wasn't decomposing and decaying in its final stages, skin a motley black, yellowed bone already exposed. Clutched in his arms was a beautiful ornate pocket watch, though the time had long stopped on it.

Quinn thought it best not to reveal certain thoughts in his journal musings. Both for the sake of his own privacy, but also in case said journal ever (and likely would) make it back to a pair of dark skinned hands. He really did not like the idea oh owing anything to Oz, something that sent a shiver down his back. Ramen noodles for meals then, it seemed. July 1st, 2016 The smell is honestly, probably, the worst part. After receiving GPS coordinates, and a lack of a portal, i bussed my way here as quickly as i could.
At first glance it looks like a farm much like those scattered here and there, but upon further inspection (and drawn to the smell of decay), nothing here remains. Even the crops seem to have blackened and wilted, from lack of care or from something else i have yet to discover. At first glance, and after some walking around, it appears the farm and a slight bit of surrounding area was the only place effected. If it forms a shape? I wouldn't tell from my view, i can see a thriving forest in the distance.
All the farms animals are in different stages of decay - some showing signs of predation and others untouched. Oddly it is not only the farm animals that are gone, even some of the local wildlife such as birds and squirrels didn't escape the carnage.
Even more disturbing is the family who seemed to live here. Oddly the older pair looks to have passed along as if from old age, no sign of a struggle. What i have to assume is their son is another story. He appears to have been middle aged on the day of his passing, and once in good condition. His skin and bones are yellowing and, from lack of better word, gooey. Oddly he seems to be clutching a broken pocket watch in one hand.
It's almost as if the world just stopped at one moment and everything fell over and died at the same time. It doesn't appear to be gunshot wounds, or cuts, in the corpses. I don't have the materials to rule out poisoning, but on this large scale? They are all in different stages of decay, oddly the older couple appearing to be in the best condition of the lot. Something happened here, not of natural causes. It really is almost like Death took pity on those closest to succumbing to it, and everything else felt the full brunt of his wrath. . Not entirely sure why, perhaps a symbol or just a gut feeling, Quinn found himself taking the broken pocket watch along with him. This sort of odd occurrence is exactly what he set out t discover. Sure there was nothing definite pointing to the Death Ancient as the cause, but it wasn't something that could be ruled out either July 2nd, 2016 So far nothing has changed at the farm, I have reported it in to headquarters. Unsure if they will send a clean up crew or not. It's even more surprising no one else has discovered this location, but i guess it is remote.

August 23rd 2016 Cordoba, Argentina
While there were many smaller locations in between his travels, perhaps this one stuck out a little more as important. It was a city that was a hybrid between antiquated culture and modern buildings, surrounded by greenery. It would be a little more difficult to overcome the language barrier, Quinn sticking out like a sore thumb compared to the locals. A while later, he might have finally procured a crude bicycle ride out of the town, along the edges where highway met half-developed road.
There was a beautiful beachside, coastal, tropical, and it was as Quinn was doing his rounds around the sands that the watch that he had picked up at the farm suddenly started ticking again, rather loudly.
The sand started to get more uneven the more erratic the ticking became, like stepping on uneven rocks. Some of them were bleached an odd white - like bone - and if he uncovered the thin veil, the surface the tide had covered, it would reveal that the some of the sand bed was covered in human skeletal remains. Some of them looked fresher, skill clinging to bits of scalp and hair, while others looked bleached from sun exposure.
There were no trinkets this time, just sand, and exposed human bodies. The beach was abandoned, practically in the middle of nowhere, but the area also seemed entirely devoid of life. Lilwolfpard Feel free to write a little about traveling and the journeys in between too!

It is entirely professional to leave out the gross bits, right? He was pretty sure his superiors did not want to know exactly how the bodies felt, or how he had to dig around in things or... July 15th, 2016 The portal at least came this time as planned, but reflecting back on it it was probably perhaps that was cheaper than catching a plane to said location. This site is small, smaller than the last one. Just a single family home, and even then it is only the human occupants effected. Either that or the dog, which i nicknamed Kujo, somehow got inside by himself. The bodies were chewed on, something i would expect from the looks of things. The quantity of feces scattered over the house suggests it has been at least a few weeks since their passing. He was pretty sure the smell of bile wasn't too odd either. The sights he had seen, experiences over the past month or so, he found himself loosing weight. Not being able to keep food in your stomach would do that, right? Still he would try and at least keep his vomit from contaminating the scenes too badly. July 28th, 2016 Another small site, remote without any sort of human activity i could find. It is within a dense forest, no particular shape from what i could tell. Just a sudden chunk of dead trees, if there was any sort of dead animals i imagine they have long been eaten by living scavengers. There is traces of blood and fur though. Strangely nothing living, minus myself, seems to want to inhabit this area. He really should have invested in some better survival gear, frankly being out in the middle of the forest he was almost like a homing beacon for any sort of blood-sucking insect. The language barrier for the most recent site, however, was one to overcomb. Thankfully they seemed to understand hand signals, even if they kept staring at him. It was little wonder really, he was dark skinned and dark haired... plus asking weird questions. Pretty sure they thought he was just a passing tourist, not that they were too far from the truth. August 23rd, 2016 Large and set aside in a seemingly deserted area of the coast, this site isn't exactly the sort of place i would expect to see such carnage. The Watch i brought from the farmhouse started to tick, as it did it was as if a veil was removed from over my eyes. The sand is covered in bodies, some just bone... others a little more fleshy. The water looks to have eroded away most of them, but further exploring shows so many bodies. This place is similar to the original farmhouse, devoid of life and on a larger scale than most. The closer i put the watch to the remains, the louder it seemed to tick. zoobey This ok? XD i dont wanna overstep any sort of like, godmod bounds.

Quinn would remain at a Hunter outpost for a little while before the next series of coordinates showed up. This time, it sent him straight to somewhere a little more local, a small town, more an extended suburban part of Portland, Oregon.
It was a quiet Sunday, in the morning, and most locals were busy sleeping in or attending, making the sidewalks virtually empty. And that was the first time Quinn would see something actually substantial - a large creature made of Fear, maybe a goliath or behemoth of some sort, shambling slowly down the street, breathing a toxic smoke from its mouth. It had a that strange mist-shadow quality most Halloween creatures did in the Human world, not entirely corporeal and not invisible to Hunters either. Lilwolfpard Feel free to interact with this setting for a bit!

Frankly he thought going a while without any sort of clues or follow ups was a good thing at first. Quiet was nice, Quiet was peaceful, Quiet was good... He was so damn bored. When the call came out he thought he heard wrong at first, surely not there...? But after checking (and double checking), it as exactly where it claimed to be. He didn't live in Portland, but he certainly had visited a few times in the past. Thankfully he wouldn't have to pretend to be someone else. If this was Vancouver, he ran the risk of running into family. As he stared at the creature, though, Vancouver BC sounded reaaallllyyy good right about now. Quickly ducking behind a building, he tried to keep the sudden taste of bile in check. Ok this was the first real living creature he had seen in a while, a halloween creature that is. Not only that? This one was MASSIVE. Not only that it was breathing some sort of smoke from its mouth, normally that was a bad sign. Was it Toxic? Was it sentient? Some Halloween creatures were... He would need to follow it and try and study it then. Thankfully the area seemed mostly deserted... did the people somehow 'know' it was there? He tried to creep after it, his drive to study the beast conflicting with his 'oh s**t get out of here' instincts. Grabbing a discarded sodacan on the ground (littering, gross.) he made an attempt to chuck it into a trash can before ducking behind a parked car. He missed, but it still clanged off the metal bin making a loud noise. Could the creature hear?

The creature didn't seem to be paying any attention to Quinn at all, and didn't stop moving until they hit a playground. At the playground was a small child on a swing, unaccompanied. The creature just stood there, staring at the child, who stopped playing long enough to begin coughing violently, before looking up wildly in all directions.
The air around them was getting cold.

He drew in a breath as he watched on in horror. The normal response would be to rush in for the child, right? So why, why was Quinn just staring here watching as the child started to cough, started to shiver. The child looked lost, not noticing what was happening. It was clear the kid could not see the creature as quinn could, so he really should save the child right? He couldn't bring himself to move. That worried him more, honestly. The fact that he was prioritizing knowledge over the safety of one child. Was saving a single child worth the knowledge he could gain seeing what happened? It was not fear for his own life driving him to stay still. Honestly what did all this say about his current mindset? So he watched, and waited. zoobey You're making my head hurt XD
