Name: P'rell
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Gay
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Spoiled child

Physical Description: P'rell is somewhat short of height and average of weight, with softness to his structure that dragonriding have yet to overcome. His skin is quite fair and burns very easily in direct sunlight while his blond hair leans more towards ashy rather than golden in it's hue. P'rell keeps a small jar of skin salve in his quarters that he applies every morning and evening to help protect and heal his skin from the sun and wind exposure that comes with dragon riding.

P'rell's clothing choices are near the exact opposite in color from his natural appearance. He prefers dark, bold and jewel toned shades in particular greens and darker violets. He's at home in cold weather only because it affords him the ability to indulge in his love of thick warm cloaks, gloves, boots and headwear lined in fur, of which he had a variety back at home. He is very particular about being properly attired.

Personality: P'rell is a dreamer, ruled by his imagination, and styles himself as an extroverted introvert. He loves being around people, making friends and partaking in social events. At the same time, he feels like he's being socially awkward and paranoid and will at times need to retreat to a quiet place to bolster his nerves. Or he'll avoid a situation all together if his insecurities get the better of him, fleeing back to wherever he can feel private and safe.

P'rell tries to put on a face of casual happiness but on average he bounces between blind optimism and dramatic pessimism, depending upon his mood and what has affected him that day, or even that hour. Often he is prone to over exaggeration and extreme displays of emotion.

He has a strange love for organization. He likes to see things arranged by size, or by color, or by some other system he takes into his mind. When the mood takes him it can obsess him for hours, sorting or resorting his notes or clothing as he decides he doesn't like his previous order, and that this NEW one is much better. Then doing it again when he decides that no, really, the first way was best.

When P'rell is angry or upset, he sulks. He'll continue to sulk till he's tired of it and is ready to act as if things are back to normal. He's not adept at explaining his emotions or talking things out and any attempts to do so only make him angrier. He's not a screamer or violent in his anger, but instead clams up or if pushed too far, breaks down into hysteric tears. If tears don't work, the next step is to just say whatever the other person wants to hear whether it's true or not just to get the confrontation over with. He doesn't feel good about it but as long as no one is yelling at him anymore it doesn't matter in his mind. He'll just throttle any remaining emotions down and try to get on with life as if the fight had never happened.

Positive Trait List Energetic, Creative, Organized
Negative Trait List Insecure, Ruled by his emotions, Restless

History: P'rell is the second son of a minor Lord under Nabol and his first wife. His father aspired to greater status and is known to act as if his family were much grander than they actually were. As such, P'rell was raised as the 'spare heir' and was given an extensive (and expensive) education as well as the means to pursue his own interests outside of the hold. He had a handful of siblings of various ages, an eldest brother, a two sisters near his own age (one step, one half), as well as a younger brother.

P'rell's biological mother passed away from sickness soon after he was born though it was not directly connected to his birth. His father remarried quickly to another woman with more profitable connections and a supposedly noble bloodline that at the very least couldn't easily be disproved and while it wasn't a passionate romance, both ambitious adults found satisfaction in their union. His stepmother took on the task of raising him alongside her own daughter born only a couple months prior (from a dissolved marriage that also outwardly appeared to have no connections to her new arrangement). Within the household the family was raised as one unit and with no internal conflict, the external gossip eventually died down. While P'rell was still very young, his stepmother added two new siblings to the mix and all five were raised together with no real differences between those of their respective first marriages and those of the second.

The siblings were all given an expensive education by a hired harper and taught well in the courtly skills of music and culture. P'rell showed an average aptitude give or take in most areas but never stood out as particularly gifted. Instead he found a passionate interest in heroic epics, seeking out and learning by heart every song or story he could find that fed his imaginative little heart, many of which featured dragonriders as their central heroes. Nearby High Reaches Weyr held a lot of romanticized mystery to the young man and eagerly awaited every Search that came through their hold where he and his younger siblings would be presented along with the rest of the eligible children.

It wasn't long before he got his wish and with a sizable purse and a trunkload of 'basics' his parents gladly shipped him off to the Weyr with the understanding that if he didn't Impress it was no hair off of anyone's backs. He would either become a rider and thus honor his family, or come back home and most likely make a good marriage to extend their families trade contacts or land.

Candidacy was a culture shock to say the least. Initially he treated it as a novelty and was delighted by the 'horror' of doing base chores and manual labor. He went through phases of sullen resentment and indignation of course especially when it came to not understanding why drudges couldn't do some of the tasks they were assigned. It was their duties after all was it not? Why would the Weyr host so many drudges if they were just going to make their future dragonriders toil instead? He never meant to offend... and was sincere in his apologies if offense was given, but that's how it was in the holds. Drudges did drudgework, crafters crafted, holders managed the holds. Everyone had their job and none did the job of another. It went against his upbringing and while he could reluctantly admit that no real harm seemed to come from it... it didn't feel right.

He Impressed at his very first clutch. A robust and proud little bronze that made quick fans of his visiting family with his polite and charming nature. When they returned home they were quick to boast of their invitation as 'honored guests' to the weyr and their child who was sure to be Weyrleader himself in just a few short turns. Whether their holders believed them or not, with unrest stirring already from the increasing debt the hold bore due to it's lording family's sense of entitlement and high taxes which seemed to only fill their own coffers.

Weyrlinghood was an improvement to be sure. Yes there were still chores, but now the world seemed to right itself, no small part due to the presence of Venaith in his life. Venaith was reasonable. Everything made sense to Venaith and he was back in the familiar comfortable box of knowing exactly where he stood in comparison to others. He actually found himself quite enjoying it.

Venaith did as well, at least till it came time to learn how to fight thread should it ever return. The smell of firestone, it's vile taste, the nasty feeling it left in his gut and mouth were all repulsive to the bronze who refused to do it unless he absolutely had to which generally resulted in long winded arguments on whether Thread was really going to return or not. P'rell thought it unlikely in spite of the weyr's beliefs and as that supported Venaith's dislike of firestone it was automatically translated as Undisputed Fact in the young bronze's brain. Why in Faranth's name would he subject himself to this misery when it was completely unnecessary?

Upon their graduation it probably wasn't too surprising to those in the weyr (though his family was another story) that instead of joining the weyrs wings, P'rell and Venaith ran off with a small flight of chromatic dragons that were a part of a traveling preformance troupe. Taking advantage of P'rell's vast array of memorized epics and the addition of a bronze to their cast, the caravan of actors began preforming the stories of Lessa, Moreta, and other great heroes of old with Venaith and P'rell often playing the roles of the golds and their riders.

Unfortunately their minor brush with stardom was short lived as only a couple turns later the world was turned upside down by the return of Threadfall. P'rell and Venaith fled back to the safety of High Reaches Weyr.

They have since settled in though not without some grumbling on Venaith's part. His drive to protect is at a constant war with his distaste for firestone and fighting. As such they are low performers among their wing Venaith is more likely to dodge a clump of Thread rather than waste his flame on a risky aim. He'll noticeably consume fewer bags of firestone per Fall than other bronzes.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: Venaith
Age: 4 turns
Color: Bronze
Size: 44'
Physical Description:
Venaith is eye-catching to say the least. While his hide is subtly patterned he will be the first to point out that it is flawless. You'll not see a flake of dry hide nor a scar of any sort so long as he and P'rell have a say in things. With his gleaming hide and his flair for the dramatic this bronze likes to make his presence known! His wings and tail are properly proportioned for his frame and his stamina leaves naught to be desired.
Personality:
Venaith, from the time of his hatching, had a strong sense of right and wrong; his own definitions of the words, naturally. For Venaith, there is no gray between the lines. Firm on doing what he believes is right (whether it is right or not depends on who's side he hears first and empathizes with!) Venaith will rarely stray from the path he has set himself on. He will agree unwaveringly with his rider--for naturally his rider knows what's right! His perception of all things good will stem from his rider's point of view.

Venaith carries himself with a sense of dignity as would befit a gold. This dragon has strong ideas about his own importance to the weyr--and indeed all of Pern! He does tend to speechify when he speaks, making even the shortest of answers verbose. Listening to him can be tedious. His tendency to ramble is not the only undesirable trait this bronze possesses. While persistance may help in many causes, it can become a hinderance. Especially when Venaith's rider would like to distract him. Venaith will insist on focusing on one thing for as long as he can remember it. Justice must be served!

Venaith does not consider himself stubborn. This bronze feels he is open to hearing new ideas--only, those ideas are wrong. Because if they weren't wrong, Venaith would be wrong; and that's impossible. He will gladly share his opinion to eloquently explain why those in question are wrong; in fact he may share his opinion without being asked to do so.

When not focusing on his sheer greatness or ensuring there is justice in the Weyr, Venaith is generally pleasant. Despite his tendency to speechify, he can make good conversation with those he considers friends. These friends are exempt from the majority of Venaith's rules. Though he feels he is the one thing that holds the Weyr together, he will encourage any whom feel they have a strong duty to High Reaches. His rider may not be Weyrleader, but that won't stop him from behaving as if he is! He expects perfection from all! He does not have to worry about what P'rell does; for everything he does is perfect. No, it is those he observes that need to work for his approval.

Venaith knows that the line between proper behavior and improper is a very fine line indeed, and he isn't afraid to inform those who have crossed it.
