Quote: Survey Mission 4ALocation: Prypiat Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: Commonly known amongst most Hunters as one of the largest Halloween-Human portal hotspots, a strange influx of Fear and Insanity has grabbed a hold of the location, especially underground. The area is now covered in a thick fog, and what few tourists make it through are rarely seen back. The entire area has been covered off by local authorities, though the fog radius and Insanity seems to be spreading... * B class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be a Full Hunter. This is considered a DANGEROUS mission. ) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission AA. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll an INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: You can't see through the thick layer of fog. At some points you hear someone call you, whether or teammate or another voice entirely. At other points you see a shadow of someone, as you reach towards them they disappear entirely. You trip over something - a body rotting, thick dark blood still blossoming on the ground in crystal-like fragments. They are smiling with eyes wide open at you. 21 - 40: As you walk deeper, you hit an old, rusted ferris wheel. There are people hanging inside each pod, some half-draped out, others nestled in. Their bodies seem to be showing light signs of decay, unmoving. All of them are smiling, widely, perfect teeth showing. 41 - 60: You manage to navigate through the fog into a segment of thick concrete. The area is extremely dangerous and radiates high levels of Fear and Insanity. You hear a voice mocking you, and laughing at the same time, words nonsensical. For a second you feel as if someone is watching you from behind you, tugging at you. As you walk past the pavement you realize all the cracks on the sidewalk are shaped in a large, wrinkled grin. 61 - 80: You see something from the corner of your eyes, a greyed out version of yourself. They wave at you and smile, grin splitting their face.... 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully With the slight uptick in activity around the island, there also came a renewed need for monitoring and reconnaissance missions. Peyton had been assigned one such mission, and had been given the power to decide who would be coming with her. Mostly. She'd contacted two of her trainees, one very new, one not quite so new, and had sent the both of them a brief mission summery as well as a list of equipment to bring(if they happened to have said equipment.). The last member of their team, recommended by a certain red headed division lead, was a bit of a surprise. Peyton knew Alaska. Or had, at one point in time, but like the rest of the hunters who had failed to return to their normal ages, the person Peyton had once known no longer existed. The entire issue was proving considerably more emotionally draining than she ever would have imagined. So much so in fact that she was really looking forward to getting off the island, and stretching her legs. Mimi had been under her care for a while now, though with the prolonged peace there hadn't been much to do until now. Kai she was sure she'd seen around, but he was a new, and the girl was glad to take on more responsibilities. Standing outside the lighthouse, the dainty Sun was was adjusting the straps on her thigh pack, jack draped over one shoulder. For those that knew her, she looked relatively the same as she usually did, sans for a little more ink on the back of her neck. For those that didn't, she was a tanned, freckle kissed waif of a woman with Blonde and pink hair drawn back in a braid, lavender eyes, and a whole mess of scars and tats visible around the tank top and short-short/legging combo she was wearing.

The summon came as a surprise, and while the normally chipper teen would usually JUMP at such a chance, breaking out into musical number like a typical Disney princess, she hesitated.
Mimi flinched.
The tiny hunter closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. I... I guess I am still a little scared. B-but.. it's ok. I won't be alone this time. And besides, I haven't seen Pey-san in so long...
At this Mimi smiled. Yah! She's super pretty, super nice, super strong... She let out a wistful sigh. She's everything I want to be, and everything I'm... not. If I want to become stronger, I can't afford to be scared. If I want to protect the people I love... I...
Yes ma'am!!
20 minutes later, strawberry-blonde pigtails were bouncing behind her as Mimi ran to where the sun hunter waited. This time she was a bit more prepared, a cute Totoro backpack with its ears flopping back in forth in time to Mimi's steps. The only sign of Mimi's last kerfuffle being the gauze patches on each cheek, but since the teen already normally had bandages wrapped around her wrist and legs like some stereotypical anime hero, it could probably just be chalked off as cosplay.
"Pey-san, Pey-san!!" She waved, her wide smile masking her fear.

Kai only knew where the lighthouse was because of the only other mission he went to before - where he almost died. By now he was recovered and still surprised by how quickly it had went, used to spending weeks in bed or on a couch not wanting to move. A+ to having medical on this island, a new kind of perk he wasn't used to at as much as the magical healing.
The massive form of the hunter came up to the lighthouse, a plume of smoke following him as he smoked. The only supplies he brought was one bottle of water - because the last mission said water was important.
Arriving to the woman who had been nice to offer him some help, he smiled at Peyton. "Hey Boss Lady." Then he looked to the smaller hunter. "Who are you?" She looked younger than him.

To Peyton, the young sun trainee shifting nervously in front of her was a far cry from the previous Alaska Burns. Her brightly-dyed hair had returned to its natural, subdued brown and her arms were noticeably bare without her tattoos. Her wide eyes were no longer bright green, but a dark shade of brown that complemented her hair color. Alaska’s gaze, wide and anxious, quickly looked around the lighthouse. The man she’d met had kindly escorted her to wherever this place was, but she also wasn’t keen on the idea of being haphazardly thrown into a “mission” without time to process her new circumstances.
She was the last to arrive, still staring widely at everything on the island. The team consisted primarily of girls, which put her somewhat at ease. Alaska glanced at Kai, taking in his tall, smoking figure with silent panic before taking one tiny step closer to Mimi. “H-Hello.” A hand waved briefly at the group while she silently commended herself for not sounding as shy and nervous as she actually was.

One by one the trainees joined her at the lighthouse. Mimi arrived first, and the hubter flashed a smile at the other girl and her easy adoption of Allen's anime inspired lingo. "Hey Mimi, how's it going?" It's been a while, but the bright girl was much the same as the last time Pey had seen her, except for the bandages on her cheeks. It had her wondering, but she'd ask later. Kai was a mountain of a man as he made his way up the hill path to join them, and that would earn him an extended, subtly wide-eyed look from the dainty hunter, but she just smiled up at him as he addressed her. "Hey! Nice to finally formally meet you in person." She and Mimi looked truly tiny beside him. And Alaska as well. Pey's attention turned to the teen that had been escorted up to them and she smiled warmly I noticed greeting. "Hey. I'm Peyton." She extended a small hand to the shy seeming girl. "And you dint have to worry about a thing, okay?" She wasn't going to let anything happen to the young trainee. The big sister instincts were strong. Addressing the lot of them now. "We're going to be heading to a pretty active hot spot. You're going to see things, you're going to hear things. We're going to stick together and everyone's going to make it back in one piece. Alright?"

Mimi's smile faltered slightly, but she shook her head and beamed. "Everything's A-OK, Pey-san, thank you for asking!!" <...> The larger man's voice made Mimi jump and she turned to look up at him. "Ah'm- ah, u-um, I'm Mimi! It's nice to meet you!" She reached a hand out to him.
A small voice made her turn around, and she gave Alaska an equally-wide smile. Despite being a little jittery, Mimi had always loved meeting new people, and was excited that she was not only under the guidance of her mentor once more, but also to meet other fellow Suns.
Peyton started talking again, and Mimi turned to give the hunter her full attention. "Hai!!" She saluted. She could trust Peyton. Things would be different this time. No one will get left behind.

He smiled back, shaking Peyton's dainty hand in his. "Good to meet ya. I'm Kai by the way. Twitter not good for names. Thanks for offering help. Got banged up last mission. Don't think I got what to do."
Turning to Mimi, he tucked the cigarette behind one ear, still smoking, and knelt a bit to shake her hand, trying to be gentle with all the ladies and not applying much force. "Nice to meet you, Mimi. I'm Kai. Glad to have so many ladies watching my back."
He rose and turned to the other hunter and waived. "Sup."
Popping the cigarette back into his mouth, he got the low down on what was happening.
"You just tell me what to do, Boss Lady."

In normal circumstances, Alaska would have brightly taken Peyton’s hand and firmly shook it, but instead she gently grasped it and gave a weak shake—perhaps a wiggle?—before letting go and twining her fingers behind her back. Hopefully once the trainee was on the island for a while and settled in, the hunter would be able to glean a more-confident greeting out of Alaska.
Surprised, Alaska raised her shoulders and stared at Peyton with wide eyes. It sounded cliché, but her words also sounded reassuring right now. “Okay!” Her tone still sounded shy, but at least it was loud and clear.
She wasn’t sure what the titles and saluting were for, but she quickly followed Mimi’s actions and hastily copied it. “H-Hi?! Hi…” Hadn’t they just finished greeting each other?

Peyton chuckled softly as Alaska parroted Mimi, instantly endeared as well as amused, and she'd lean towards the teen, voice lowered into something close to a whisper. "Hai means yes. Don't worry about it, it'll make sense later." Then she winked, straightening back up, and pulled her jacket off her shoulder so she could draw it on. It was a custom job, tight where it needed to be, loose where it didn't, with the entire back cut away to show off the tattoo on her back. "Alright guys, let's go!" Turning, she led the way into the light house and to the portal that was already up and waiting for them. "I'm going to step through first, but you guys stay a couple of steps behind me." If there was anything on the other side--which was unlikely, but still--Peyton wanted to be the first to greet it. She had the experience and the strength. It should be her, not the newbies. Her hood came up as she stepped through, a little help to shield her eyes from the unsteady light trying to shine through the dense clouds that covered the area. Everything around the portal seemed clear.

Mimi's eyes widened when Kai shook her hand. SO BIG.
Or give the best hugs!!
She turned and gave Alaska a sheepish look. More than often she forgot most people didn't understand her lingo. "Ehe, gomen!"
Aww, but you understand me!
Mimi opted to nod this time, watching as Peyton put on her coat. Ooh, so pretty! Mimi wondered if she'd get a pretty coat like that one day. Papa might object to her showing off too much skin though, but the tattoo Pey-san had was so pretty.
After stepped through, Mimi reached out to take Kai and Alaska's hand. "Let's go, mes amies!!"

Kai had been busy staring at the portal Peyton left in that he was surprised when he felt a small hand slip into his. Looking down, Mimi had managed to slip between him and Alaska and was holding his hand. With her beaming smile, it wasn't an action of fear but of wanting to be friends.
"Alright, Sugah." He said and moved with them through the portal, giving Mimi's hand the gentlest squeeze he could give which actually took him more effort than holding it normally.
If you hold me that way, maybe you might get somewhere with fighting.

She blinked curiously. Was it island slang for ‘ye— “Oh! I see.” For a moment her body tensed, Alaska straightening her back and rising a bit on her toes as she blinked again at Peyton and then scurried after the rest of the group. The young hunter was more than happy to be the last one to walk through the portal, but as the light blinded her and there was a sudden change in, well, everything she suddenly wondered if it’d been a smarter idea to allow herself to be nestled between these strangers. Regardless of who they were and how they were like, she absolutely knew they were at least more experienced than her, and if something caught them from behind or the side Alaska was confident—was hopefully, actually—they would be able to react faster and wiser than she could.
Thick fog swirled around the group and she hastily tried to build a wall of hunters—temporarily disregarding that now she had to consider herself one as well—between herself and whatever it was crawled in the mist.[A.V.] sorry guys i've been a bit of a busy bee TuT;;

She waited for all three of the trainees to make it through, and then started moving forward at a cautious pace. The fog made it hard to see, and the idea of running head long into something big and nasty just wasn't something the hunter wanted to put the rest of them through. While effective, baptism by fire did tend to leave one with lingering negatives, such a nightmares. She'd rather they eased into this a bit more... gently. Though it'd seem they wouldn't get more than ten yards before the first bit of weirdness found them. Peyton froze as the darker shadow of a figure caught her eye off to the side, then frowned as she got a better look at what, or rather who, it was supposed to be. she pursed her lips at it as it smiled back at her, waving. "Come on." If the others saw it, she didn't want them to worry overly much about the shade. If not, maybe it'd keep them from noticing... syusaki No worries! I was pretty busy too, so there was no reason to rush on. <3

Unfortunately, the tiny hunter had forgotten the MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ANIMES which was bad things ALWAYS happened if one was too positive.
CRACK.
The sound made her jump, and the hissing of the noxious gas made her woozy.
Her weapon was summoned, but she could barely hold onto it without the weight making her totter, heart beating wildly as she tried to regain her focus. "P-Pey-sama?? Kai-san? Alaska-san?? She coughed, squinting. Where was everyone??
