User ImageHe had met a beautiful lady. She had smiled at him and laughed and she had found him, him of all people, impressive. To say he was smitten was an understatement. She had thoroughly made him fall head over heels and because of that his heart raced every time he thought about her, his mind went blank and he babbled like a fool. He had even shown off. That made him flush, he had tried to show off to her. As the god of Rime his domain as fairly obscure, there was no real power in it on the savannah, nowhere got covered in rime. At the right time of year the beaches at the coast occasionally saw the kiss of rime but not of the time it was too hot for his powers to be particularly effective. He was an adult now though and he wanted to try and push himself, it had been then that he had gone down to the savannah from his mountain perch to try and make an area of Rime. He’d picked a deserted place and rather than covering the whole area in rime he had decided to go with a favourite, a rime slide.

Rime slides were fun slides, they were cool and slippery and if they were on just the right angle they could be used as a play device. He had learned to do this high in the mountains, the already cold climate meant that his rime slide, once created, stayed there. It was fun to walk past an area where he had created a slide to find a creature enjoying his little amusement. He had long since decided that despite the fact that his domain was strange and pretty pointless he would use it to try and amuse others. These little rime slides, or rime areas granted animals a place to cool off, of course unless they lived in the mountains they didn’t particularly want to be coo. Down on the savannah he had found his powers worked a little less powerfully however he could cool the paws of a weary creature and create his slides. The slides of course didn’t last, under the blazing sun of the savannah they barely lasted a few hours no matter how thick a layer of rime he lay down. It was just too warm down here to constitute rime.

No matter where he went though, a film of rime followed him, it automatically exuded from his paws leaving a train of cold in his wake. It was never long before he passed though that the rime faded away in a steamy whisp leaving behind a touch of salt. He supposed if he thought about it he could probably do something with that salt, he knew some creatures used it to create medicines. Perhaps he would enquire one day in some pride if they wanted it, he could after all create a massive amount of the stuff and because it simply melted it would leave salt in abundance. He would think about this later on, it was definitely something worth considering though, he would allow his mind to ponder on this further, perhaps even the goddess he had met, she had a pride after all, perhaps they would like his salt.

The goddess had told him much about herself, she was the goddess of gems and that was very obvious, she sparkled from head to toe with beautiful gems. He knew he would have to keep her away from his grandmother. The thought had crossed his mind a lot since he had met the glorious goddess. His grandmother must never find her, his grandmother must not know that he loved her. As a cub he had admired his grandmother, h had thought her to be glorious but as age had brought him wisdom so too did the fear of his grandmother. His mother had once told him he was blessed that he didn’t have to meet her gaze, he was lucky he passed under her radar because of his weak domain. He felt that now. He felt it because he was in love. If she paid him any mind, most of the time she ignored him, he wasn’t strong enough to exist in her eyes, she may have turned her hungry gaze upon the goddess he had fallen for and he most certainly did not want that!

If he avoided his grandmother, which would be quite easy for him, he could fall in love and be happy. He was very much considering joining the pride that the goddess of gems over saw. It was a nice place and she spoke so fondly of it, he knew she loved it. It had been sheer coincidence that she had been out and away from her pride on the day that he had met her. Destiny, he had decided was the name of the game. She had crossed his path and now he most certainly did not want to let her go. He of course hadn’t told her any of this yet. At this exact moment he was looking out over an icey platau. He knew if he was mortal his breath would have left him in thick plumes, but something to do with his domain meant that his breath was cold and so didn’t leave a trail of warm air to be displayed in to the clear sky. He wasn’t too upset at this. He liked watching mortals breath though, it amused him greatly that when they breathed in these higher climes they showed their breath. It meant they were alive.

A smile crossed his maw as he looked down at the rime slide he had created many months ago and the approaching group of young lions coming to play upon it. At least he could do this correctly. At least he could make creatures smile and be happy with a little amusement in their lives. He raised a paw to wave at the approaching group and got to his paws, hopping off the now rime covered rock he had been lazing upon he trotted towards the young lions to join in their fun.
