It had been months. Almost a year since she had seen chocolate giver. Part of that was her own fault, of course, she had been lacking in her investigations, and focusing a little more on school after almost failing out. She was doing better now, much better but.

But.

She did have to keep focus. And focus was hard.

Investigations were necessary, and as Lynette sat in the tree, overlooking the park once again, bundled up in a brown blanket so as to blend in more with the leafless ground toothpicks that passed for trees, she watched the ‘children’ playing. Yes. Monsters. They were nothing but monsters…one day she would prove such a thing but…

Her eyes behind their thick glasses searched around and spotted a mass of pink curls. Oh.

Chocolate Giver. There was no one else that it could be.

This was perfect. The first day back on the job, and her partner showed up. This couldn’t have gone better if it were planned.

The purple haired girl scuttled out of the tree and army crawled over to the bench where the pinkette sat. Swiftly, she threw the brown blanket over her and slid up the back of the bench. “Chocolate Giver. It is me, Chocolate Lover. You came to the first meeting. This is fate. This is destiny.
Her glasses flashed in the weak light that came through the blanket.

“Did you bring chocolate to fuel the investigation?”

Oh, crap.

It had been a dull day. She'd gotten out of the house in an attempts to stretch her legs, to maybe feel good about being out in the sun as opposed to cooped up for yet another day off. Prissy knew she really needed to get a new hobby, now that shopping wasn't as available an option as before.

So, plucking up her purse, she'd filled it with leftover chocolates from her after-Valentine's-Day splurge and made her way towards the park. She'd considered hanging around the Sugar Cube, but she got enough of that on her work days. Besides, the mall made her feel poor, so she avoided it unless she absolutely had to go there. No, the park was as good a place as any to people watch and that creepy little purple haired girl hadn't been around the last few times she'd visited.

She'd come back as Dia, in May and July, looking for the weird girl in an attempt to steal her starseed and kill any more chance of being pestered by her... literally. But the coast had been clear, so she'd been satisfied with the knowledge that it'd be a peaceful day.

Or so she'd thought.

"W-What are you doing here? How did you...."

Her words stumbled over themselves as one hand instinctively moved down to grab for her open purse, the package of Snickers bites and Hershey Kisses practically peeking their heads out of the satchel.

“Shhhhhhhhhhhh” One of Lynette’s hands moved to press itself over Prissy’s mouth, while the other, clearly sensing chocolate darted into the pinkette’s purse, grabbing a handful of kisses and stuffing them all into her own mouth.

Foil and all.

It took about twenty seconds, but one by one, the purple haired teen spat out the pieces of foil and the little paper flags, not bothering to care about littering, clearly.

“Good. The nourishment that we need, Chocolate Giver. Perfect. I am right to assume that you read my blog post and that is why you are here? I have the funds now for an assistant. Five hundred a week, you are here to apply for the position, yes? I had hoped you would be.”

The hand that had been over Prissy’s mouth idly stroked her face now, caressing her as though she was a large bar of chocolate.

“Father is getting me a van as well, the best ghost van in the whole city, he promises. We can paint it pink and purple, in honor of our hair, that would be nice, yes?”

Everything was going according to plan.

She smelled of sugar and hand sanitizer, an odd combination but Prissy didn't question it. No, she questioned everything about this young woman, from her eccentric looking outfit to the purple color of her hair. Prissy watched in horror as the girl chewed on the candy, wrappers and all. Like a machine, she methodically spat the non-edible parts out, bit by bit, littering the ground with a thousand shiny, slimy stars.

Staring in horror at the sight, she didn't even notice the stroking at first until her fingers reached her earlobe, tickling her skin. The pinkette swatted the hand away, until the other girl's words resonated in her mind.

Wait.

Five hundred dollars? A week?

Numbers flew across her imagination. How much did she make at the cafe, for all the hours she put in? Five hundred dollars without having to do all those dishes and cleaning.... w-wait, was she really considering this as an option? Was this real life?

"A van, huh?" Her voice remained steady as one leg crossed the other and both hands fell into her lap. "What... kind of hours are you requiring, Chocolate..." Was she really going to say it?? "...Lover?"

Yesss. She was interested, as was to be expected. Ghost hunting was an ancient and noble profession, and to add monster hunting on top of that…well. This was a one way ticket to fame and fortune. “At least ten hours a week, maybe more, if we get hot on the trail of a big case. Less if it’s the off season.”

Without another word, Lynette climbed over the back of the bench, seating herself next to Prissy and not bothering to remove the blanket from atop their heads. This was a business meeting now, they needed the privacy.

Although, it did look mighty strange to passers-by, but Lynette never cared if she looked strange. That just came with being Lynette.

“You read my blog, you must have—“ Her hand reached in the bag again, pulling out another handful of kisses and this time, being almost cultured and unwrapping them before putting them into her mouth “—Since you’re here. I posted all of the information and called you out specifically.”

She gave the pinkette a searching look, her own eyes hidden by the glare that never seemed to leave her glasses.

“You do sill read my blog, do you not, Chocolate Giver? We are still a team, are we not?”

As the blanket found its way over her pink curls, she braced herself to not immediately yank it off. More than anything else, she wanted to tear it off and run screaming in the other direction, but the prospect of making relatively easy money when her bank account was currently getting dangerously below three figures....

Closing her eyes briefly, both hands rose to adjust the blanket over her hair as to not muss it up any further before pulling it back down. Prissy could only pray that no one she knew was watching her at that very moment.

"Your blog?"

Think fast, Priss. She dug into her purse, pulling out her pink iPhone. How did crazy people think again? "I did, but my other phone was stolen. Probably rivals, trying to steal our information, right?"

Swiping the screen on, she hit the Internet app and handed the phone over to Lynette. "Type it back in, quick - I need to review it to catch up with what I've missed."

Lynette gave the pinkette a long, searching look, but took the phone and nodded, typing in the address to her blog again. “If they wanted to get our information, they picked a great time. I haven’t had the time to blog since just after the last time I saw you. College was eating up my time, and I nearly got kicked out because I was so distracted.”

When the page loaded, she handed the phone back to Prissy. The most recent blog post was a large bar of chocolate, with the words ‘CHOCOLATE GIVER’ in sparkling pink letters, and the invitation to the park and the job written below it.

“If you didn’t read the blog post, then this really is fate, really is destiny that you’re here today. You were meant to be my partner.”

She continued to stare at Prissy, a grin lighting up her whole face, making her look a lot more sinister rather than friendly.

This kook went to college? How in the world...

Shaking the thought from her mind, she turned to study the website presented in front of her. Like the woman's babblings in person, the blog featured all sorts of various thoughts about ghosts and suspicious individuals and monsters that could potentially be overtaking the local schools and federal buildings. Whoever this woman was - Chocolate Lover - she was certifiably insane as far as Prissy was concerned.

Did that make Prissy insane by association for even considering working under such a person?

The pinkette felt a knot form in her throat as she swallowed. The pay was good, the hours were tolerable - ten for five-hundred dollars? That was fifty bucks an hour, all under the table pay without getting taxed out the wazoo for it. She could really use the money...

Thoughts of the newest line of Too Faced Sweet Peach makeup fluttered across her mind. She could afford the new set with only a week's worth of work under this loon... and how hard could it be, fighting off imaginary creatures a couple times a week?

"Okay." She could feel her heart thumping in her chest as the words escaped her dry lips. "I'm in....Chocolate Lover."

The blanket slid off of the two as Lynette flailed in delight, seeming as though she wanted to hug Prissy, but then seeming to think better of it. Of course the result was that she ended up smacking the pinkette across the face instead of giving the hug she was trying to, but whatever.

A smile was on Lynette’s face, and for a moment, the glasses that always ended up having a glare on them, didn’t, and the smile looked genuine and not at all sinister, with wide purple eyes beneath them.

Of course, a moment later the sun put another glare on the glasses and she again looked like some kind of demon out of hell.

“Perfect! Report to my house tomorrow at eleven seventeen, on the nose.” She got up from the bench, taking the last bits of candy from Prissy’s bag and stuffing it into her mouth, grinning.

Slipping a hand into her own pocket, she drew out a folded piece of paper. “This is the address. See you there, Chocolate Giver. I will see you there.”
And with that, she was gone, taking the blanket and disappearing into the trees.

One hand moved up to rub her recently assaulted face while the other hesitantly accepted the note. There was still an opportunity to back out if she wanted to - Chocolate Lover didn't know her address or any pertinent information about her that could be used to look Prissy up online.

Was she really going to commit to such insanity?

Gathering her purse, the bewildered young woman took her own leave from the bench, quickly making her way out of the park as fast as she could... no matter what she decided, she definitely wasn't coming back to that park again!
