a couple of dogs barking.
She followed the sound to a group of dogs barking at a tree, looking up she saw a black cat taking refuge from the dogs on one of the trees branches. She got angry, how mean and unfair to gang up on a tiny kitty like that.
“Shoo shoo leave him alone!” She shouted as she ran over waving her hands at the dogs. Her shouting was enough to scare the dogs as they scampered off at her approach.
“Are you alright mr. kitty.” She asked not really expecting an answer as she started climbing the tree to help the poor thing down.

Hania had just been minding his own business, or rather patrolling the area for either a Senshi in need or any sign of chaos, when he had first heard the dogs. The first bark had come off to the side of him and it made him jump slightly at the closeness of it but when he looked and spotted the dog that made the sound he could also see that it was leashed up to a tree. The Mauvian’s tail swished in aggravation at the interruption the canine had caused but he turned back to face the direction he had been going in the first place, fully planning on ignoring the dog.
And then he heard a different growl from behind him and a snap off to the side as the leash broke.
“Oh you have got to be kidding me.” He said then darted off as the two dogs gave chase, barking their heads off at him. There wasn’t any convenient fences he could use to lose them easily so he kept up the pace for a couple of blocks before he came across a very handy looking tree. He quickly scaled it and paused on a sturdy branch to catch his breath and slow his heart, ignoring the dogs below him as they continued to bark since he knew they couldn’t get to him.
However once he caught his breath he looked around to see if there were any other trees near by enough that he could just jump to them until he could either make the dogs lose interest or lose them in a different manner. Sadly there wasn’t anything he could use nearby so he was gearing up to just jumping down and running for the next safe spot when the solution to his problem showed up in the form of a little girl. He watched as she shooed away the dogs then started to climb the tree, not taking very long to realize the girl had a hint of Senshi to her. A potential chibi? The cat tilted his head as he crouched down to look at her better as she climbed, waiting to make sure she wouldn’t slip in surprise before responding to her, to her rhetorical, question. “I am fine thank you miss.” He said with a polite but pleased purr.

She nearly lost her grip when she hear a voice coming from the cat she had just rescued, but she managed to stay clinging to the branch where the cat sat. “You….you can talk!?” She said shocked and amazed at this discovery. She swung her small body up onto the tree branch.
She stared at the black cat for a moment examining it as if to determine if he was real. She had never seen a talking cat before, though she had always hoped talking animals were a thing. This made her wonder just how many other magical things were real; unicorns, lepricons, santa claus. She was sure they must if she could meet a talking cat.
“If you can talk what’s your name mr. kitty. I’m Lucia.” She said introducing herself to the feline.
Natsuko-neko
When the child almost slipped he had tensed up but thankfully she had caught herself before actually falling. Hania relaxed a little bit and moved from his crouch to sit up as he watched her join him on the branch, tail hanging down over the branch with a lazy swish. “Yes I can talk, little miss.” He said while nodding his head. “I happen to be rather special and that lets me have the ability to speak in human tongue instead of just in meows.” Of course he didn’t expand on why he was special just yet since he would rather make sure she wouldn’t fall off the branch in surprise first. Safety before full explanations is a must.
“Pleasure to meet you miss Lucia, I am Hania.” He said and stretched out a paw to lightly pad one of the child’s hands, careful to keep claws sheathed. “Thank you for scaring away those dogs. I was not looking forward to having to run away from them again.” It wasn’t often that he found himself in trouble with normal Earth animals thankfully.

“Nice to meet cha’ mr. Hania.” She said with a bright smile now used to the idea of talking to a cat. She sat down on the branch leaving her legs to dangle over the edge. Thankfully because she was small and light the branch could hold her weight.
“It’s no big deal, those dogs are a bunch of bullies.” At first she hadn’t recognized them but when she got closer she had noticed they were one of her neighbor’s dogs, local trouble makers. “They always bark at kids as they go home from school. Some of my friends are really scared of them but you just need to be firm with them.” She said with a confident huff.
“So how come I’ve never seen a talking cat before?” She questioned, she had lived here her whole life so she would have figured that if a talking cat was wandering around she would know about it or at least her big sister or parents would know.
Natsuko-neko
He may not like bringing children into the war, but it was always a pleasure interacting with them in Hania’s experience, so much easier for them to accept that talking cat’s were real then their older counterparts. “Ah so it’s not unusual that they cause trouble then? I don’t normally swing by this area around this time of the day.” Of course he didn’t normally come into this area anyway but since he had wanted to explore farther on his patrols it had happened.
“If I try to be firm with dogs it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t.” The simple animals saw him as a normal cat and if they already didn’t like them then even the confusion that they have when he talked to them isn’t always enough to halt them from taking offence. Of course if they are just friendly and want to greet him then they aren’t a trouble anyway so he’s never really had to try and be firm with those ones. “There aren’t many of us I’m afraid, so that lowers the chance of meeting one of us. Add into the fact that we don’t expose our abilities to just anyone at anytime and that lowers the chance even more.”

“Nope they are always barking at something.” She said with a shrug, it wasn’t that she disliked dogs really she loved all animals. But those dogs in particular were so loud and mean that she really hated them.
“So why did you come here then? Were you looking for something?” She asked, not that she had any idea what a magical talking kitty would be looking for, a magical cat toy maybe.
“Oh yeah I guess it doesn’t work as well when you’re smaller than the dogs.” She said with a laugh realising how ridiculous it would be for a cat to try telling a dog to just go away.
“Oh really? Why did you talk to me then? Was it cause I helped you?” She had read about things like this in her books, magical animals that granted wishes if you saved them. Admittedly none of those animals were cats but hey they were just stories.
Natsuko-neko
Hania nodded thoughtfully and swished his tail. “Maybe they need more exercise or something then.” He said, not really sure what made dogs bark at everything since he didn’t tend to focus on information on Earth animals beyond basic knowledge. “It was a mixture of curiosity and looking for something, so you are correct on that point.” He then gave a chuckle at the girls words. “Yes when you are smaller than they are they don’t tend to think much of you trying to tell them ‘no stop barking at me’ I imagine.”
His ears perked up at Lucia’s question and he gave a small purr. “Well I wouldn’t have spoken just to thank you honestly, I would have thanked you in some other way.” Probably with some cuddles and kitty kisses but still he would have done something. “The reason I, or any of my kind really, would speak up to let someone know we are real is if they have a special soul to them. Though even then we would be careful to only reveal ourselves to that person and other’s like them.”

“Hmm maybe.” She thought about it, though their owner was kinda old so maybe they couldn’t give them enough exercise, if that was the case she did feel a little bad for them.
Her mouth formed into a little ‘O’ as she realized. “So do I have a special souls!” She said excitedly. A little too excitedly as she almost lost her balance, though she managed to catch herself.
“Woo maybe we should talk on the ground.” She said catching her breath from almost falling. She dropped down from the branch onto the ground.
Her imagination was racing, was she some kind of chosen one like from a story. Was this cat gonna be like her Hagrid and take her away to Hogwarts. “That is wicked! So do I like have special powers, I’ve never noticed anything different from other kids.” She said in a hyper voice.
Natsuko-neko
Hania almost lunged to try and catch Lucia as she wobbled on the branch, not that he would have been able to do much in his cat form and he didn’t have access to his more humaniod one, but thankfully it wasn’t needed. “Yes, your soul is very special, miss Lucia. And it calls out to my kind when we are close enough to sense it.” He said after she had dropped down safely to the ground. Once he was finished talking he gracefully jumped down onto the grass and looked up at the young girl.
“As you are no, you don’t have any special powers beyond containing your special soul.” He sat down and curled his tail around his legs. “What makes your soul special is that you used to live over a thousand years ago on a distant planet and if you had the right item you could call forth the powers granted to you from that planet.” Or asteroid, or comet, or star system. There were more than just planets that Senshi could come from but he would share that part with her later. “But there is a price to come with the ability to use the powers so my kind have to both warn and teach those with the special souls that can accept the price on top of making sure you have your items.”

“Wow! So I’m an alien. What about mama or papa? Are they special too?” She asked curious. This was all so amazing she came from some distant alien world where she lived over a thousand years ago.
“Please mr. Hania I’ll pay whatever price, give me the item to use my powers!” She begged, if she had special powers she wanted to use them. Maybe she could help people and beat up bad guys if she had powers, she’d be like a real life super girl.
Natsuko-neko
“I do not know, I would have to be close to them to feel if they have the special soul. Even then the special souls I can sense only show up to a certain age. Past that age then any special soul is one I can not help as they are different. The ones I can help are called Senshi, the ones I can not awaken to their powers are called Knights. Knights find their special items on their own.” He didn’t want to confuse the girl but he did want to make sure she knew that there would be no way for her parents to be Senshi but there could still be the possibility that they were Knights. It was something he could expound on later though if she let the question drop for now.
“Are you sure miss Lucia? Because the price to be able to use the powers is to have to fight the bad guys, to keep your identity a secret from your family and friends, to walk into danger at any given time and protect others.” If she was older he would have given her the pen already then explained a bit more but he would never, ever, do that to a chibi.

“Hmm so old people become knights and kids become senshi?” She said nodding her head she thought she understood. She knew what a knight was but she did wonder what a senshi was. It was also interesting that these knights got their special item on their own she wondered why that was. But those questions could come later.
“I’m sure. I’ve always dreamed about being a hero so I’m not scared of fighting bad people or going into danger to protect others. Please mr. Hania!” This was a her chance to become like the heroes she always looked up to, she wasn’t going to pass this up just cause it was dangerous.
Natsuko-neko
“Not quite it but close enough that I can explain it farther in a bit.” Hania said with an amused tone. He could easily see where his words could give off that impression so he was more amused with himself then her mistake. It would have to be something he kept in mind next time if he had to awaken another chibi.
At her words he got to his paws and with a swish of his tail a Senshi pen fell to the grass between them. “If you are sure, really sure, then pick the pen up. It is your item and only you can use it to unlock your abilities. When you hold it then say the first thing that comes to mind, these will be the words of transformation that will activate the pen to change you into a Senshi.” He did not push her and if she had second thoughts then he would tuck the pen back into the special space for them.

There was no hesitation, she picked up the strange pen from the grass. Words appeared in her mind, it was a phrase she had never heard before but she somehow knew it “Ara power, make up!” She called out holding the pen up.
She spun around in a ballerina like dance as she was enveloped by stars and light and multicolored ribbons. As the light receded She was left standing in a different outfit from the one she had been standing in a moment before. Her hair was in a different style from the ponytail it had just been in, now it was in a braid and it had rainbow colored pearls laid in it. She was wearing a brightly colored sailor suit.

She felt different, faster and stronger and she felt like she could use magic now. She felt it within her. “Wow this crazy I feel so much stronger.”
Natsuko-neko
Hania didn’t quite watch the transformation, more kept an eye on it while also keeping an eye on their surroundings to make sure no one came across them and learned something they really, really shouldn’t know. When the light show was over he turned to look at the new Senshi, memorizing the way the chibi now looked. “Congratulations, you are now Chibi Sailor Ara.” He said with a purr as he sat down again. “You are indeed much stronger than you previously were. You can move faster, jump higher, use magic, and even visit your past life's home planet if you so choose.” He said then gave a wave of his paw and a cell phone appeared in the grass in front of him.
“This is your new Senshi phone. You can contact other Senshi as well as Knights and Mauvian’s with it, use it to scan for bad guys, and it is your way to teleporting to Ara.” He explained, placing a paw over it. “Both you and your phone can get upgrades to make you stronger and both need to have a Mauvian helping you to do so. Mauvian’s being me and my species. You aren’t the only alien on this planet, past life or other wise.”

“Chibi Sailor Ara, that’s my name now.” It was something between a question and a statement. “I’m the senshi of Illumination.” She said her full title appearing in her mind.
She got down and picked up the Mauvian in a gentle hug. “Thank you Hania, thank you so much. I promise I’ll become the best senshi ever.” It was not an empty promise either she would work hard to become the best, she’d work to become strong enough to fight any bad guy she came across.
She picked the phone up. “Cool. So how do I go to Ara with it. I want to see my planet.” Ara, the name sounded vaguely familiar like she had heard it in an astronomy book but she would have to look it up when she got home.
“You’re an alien? Well I guess that would explain why you can talk, what is your home like then?” She asked curious.
Natsuko-neko
“Yes this is your name when you are transformed.” Hania said, nodding his head and making a mental note of what her sphere was. When he was pulled into the hug he gave a purr and rubbed his head against her cheek. “You are welcome. Just be sure to stay as safe as you can as well alright?” He didn’t have any doubt that she would become strong but he did want her to think about safety as much as she could too. As a chibi she couldn’t be corrupted but that didn’t mean that chaos wouldn’t try to hurt or kill her after all.
“Your phone has different functions to it and there is one that if you hold it while concentrating you will teleport to your home planet. This is the middle button here.” He said and gestured to the phone. “If you want a more up to date phone I can quickly upgrade it for you so you can just use apps like a normal smartphone which would be easier.” He suggested while tilting his head in question. He wasn’t sure how familiar she would be with older phone designs but he wouldn’t count on her not knowing either.

“Don’t worry I’ll be safe.” She promised. She was brave but she wasn’t stupid if she died she wouldn’t be able to help anyone plus it would make her family sad. If she got into a situation she couldn’t handle she would retreat and come back when she was stronger.
“Can you please upgrade it then.” She said handing the phone back to the mauvian. She didn’t know anyone who used an older style phone like that and all she had ever had was a smart phone. So she would prefer the easier smart phone style if that was an option.
Natsuko-neko
“Good. The best bet would be to find some of the older Senshi and work together with them as well as get some fighting training from them. I would try to teach you but sadly I’m not bodily equipped to teach anyone hand to hand.” Which worked as a good segue into answering the question he had temporarily skipped in his quest to get her to stay safe. “And yes I am an alien from the planet named Mau. I don’t actually know what my planet is like honestly. While Senshi and Knights can visit the stars on their own, Mauvian’s have been sort of locked from our home planet. We can travel with Senshi and Knights but we can’t actually teleport on our own and no one can get to Mau.”
When she passed the phone back to him he got to work upgrading it right away, making sure to download the optional distress signal app for her. He wouldn’t have downloaded it for any of the older ones but this was a chibi so he did it. It didn’t take long for him to finish and pass the phone back to Ara with a pleased purr. “All done. You now have a much easier to use phone. Also the charm dangling on it is just for show, it would have made it so you could teleport to the moon on full moon days if it was still the older version of the phone but with the upgrade it just becomes decorative.” He said then explained what each of the apps were for to her.

“I’ll try to do that.” She said with a nod, though she wasn’t keen on the idea of hiding behind some older senshi she did think it would be a good idea to get training from them. She had a little bit of martial arts training but probably nothing compared to an experienced senshi.
“That’s so sad. I’m sorry to hear that Hania.” She said truly feeling sorry for the mauvians how sad it must be to not be able to go back home. She wondered if he had parents or siblings back on Mau or what about friends or were they all here on Earth?
“Thank you!” She chirped happily as she took the phone back. She listened intently as Hania explained each app. “So is there anything else I should know about being a senshi?” She asked when Hania was finished.
Natsuko-neko
“Thank you. Let me know if you want any help finding someone willing to teach you ok?” He offered up, pleased that the chibi would indeed go and find a mentor. If nothing else he could always point her in Kailey’s direction for some pointers on kickboxing and that could even have an added effect of giving Alex a chibi friend. He was pulled out of those thoughts when Ara apologise and he put a paw on her hand. “It’s alright, I’m used to it and it helps that I currently have no memories of my planet to mourn over.” He would have loved to have said memories to at least maybe get an idea of if he had any family but couldn’t do anything about it one way or another.
His whiskers twitched as he gave a cat smile when Ara perked back up about the phone. “You are welcome. There are many things for you to know and not all of it I can pass along on my own to be honest.” He admitted. There were so many Senshi, Knights, and Mauvian’s that had been awakened before him in this city that he was still learning of all the events that have gone on himself. “One of the things I can tell you about is the different factions of chaos and order however.” For the next bit of time he covered over a summery of the different factions, trying to make sure she understood and more than willing to help answer any questions.

“I will, how should I contact you. Is your number already in here?” She asked gesturing to the phone in her hand.
“Well I guess its ok then.” She said though she still felt bad for the alien kitty. She wondered if there was anything that could be done to help them find their home again, how was it lost and did other mauvians not remember their planet or was it just Hania? These questions swirled around in Ara’s head.
She listened intently to Hania’s explanation of each group and nodded her head, she believed she understood the differences between the factions.
She noticed how dark it had gotten and that brought her back to reality. “Oh no Hania I have to get home or mama and papa are gonna be so mad. How do I change back?” She asked, she knew she couldn’t go home dressed like this it would raise too many questions.
