Well, to say that her day had been going swimmingly would be an overwhelming falsehood. It had started okay. Riya had gotten up, attended her morning class, and then found herself with the rest of the day free to do as she pleased. With her dear friend and roomie, Imzadi, working, she was left to her own devices. It wasn't a problem. The fallen had plenty of experience keeping herself occupied. She decided to try to recreate something she experienced during her post-Academy adventures. Perching atop a high spire, to feel the wind whip about her, and feel as though the world fell away when she closed her eyes. In short, simulate the feeling of flying. Not wanting to attract undue attention by scaling sculpture, statuary, or fountain, Riya settled for climbing a tree instead. All the way up!

Initially, it seemed as though she would be able to mock up a decent recreation, but what she hadn't accounted for were very strong gusts of wind and a few low flying fowl. She lost her balance and down she fell. Of course, it hadn't been a graceful fall, from crown to roots. The hallowed young woman smacked into a few sturdy branches on the way down before landing hard on the ground below, followed by fluttering leaves that fell to the earth on and around her. She knew immediately that she had dinged herself up pretty well. In trying to push herself to a sitting position, a shot of pain went through her left arm. It hurt to move her arm and her wrist was throbbing. Fortunately for her, her fall hadn't gone unnoticed. A couple of concerned passersby quickly rushed to her side to check on her, one being a medical student. She was given a cursory looking over and, once it was certain that she didn't have any trauma to her head, neck, or back, was offered a ride to get checked out. She had walked to the park, so a ride would be a blessing. Riya assured the two that she didn't need them to stay, thanked them, and exchanged numbers so she could buy them a coffee or a little something as thanks for their kindness. Cradling her left arm against her, she sidled up to the front desk of the clinic almost sheepishly, as if embarrassed by her present state, and requested to see anyone available. The paper work wasn't so bad. The receptionist let her fill everything out off the the side of the counter because sitting, having to balance a clipboard on her lap, and write with the arm that was presently supporting its injured opposite, would be damn near impossible, or at the very least take a small forever. The fallen was hurting all over and didn't fancy taking longer than she needed to. Once that was done, she made her way over to a bench to wait for her name to be called. Thankfully, it wasn't busy looking out in the waiting room.

Nearing the twenty minute mark, her name was called and she was escorted back into an empty exam room. While she waited for whomever was going to see her, she was quietly counting her blessings that she hadn't injured a wing, or an eye. At least, all of her eyes were still functioning, and she could move her wings without any stings of pain.

[Summary of Injuries: Broken wrist and a mildly broken clavicle, same side. Some other scrapes and bruises likely. Cast, sling, and probably bandages for the rougher scrapes, maybe a temporary muscle relaxer or similar pain reliever, other than that no surgery needed. ]

User Image Cherry was working at the clinic that Riya had been brought to, she looked over the chart to see what she was dealing with. Cherry was always fairly calm when it came to work. Though she didn't normally meet others eyes unless she needed to, still being her shy self even when dealing with her job. Cherry had spells and healing amulets that would help her with her work, but she always gave the patient the choice of how they wanted to heal since she considered it rude to assume that they wanted to be healed by magic rather than naturally. Cherry stepped into the room and said "Hello I'll be your nurse today, my name is Cherry." She said softly entering the room to help Riya. "Ummm I can heal your injuries pretty quickly with magic, unless you'd prefer to heal naturally. Then we will need to put your wrist in a splint and cast so it can heal properly. Also without magic I think a doctor will need to take a look at your clavicle." Cherry gathered some supplies so she could gently clean Riya's scrapes and bruises. "I'm going to clean your scrapes now alright??" Cherry asked softly.

To lay back? Maybe, but getting up again might be an issue with a bum arm and shoulder. Pacing about? Riya could but she ached all over and she was only mostly sure that the scrapes and cuts that she had received had stopped actively bleeding. So, the fallen settled for just sort of perching herself on the examination table, quietly tapping her heels on the metal side of the table, and taking an account of each jar, box, magazine, or pamphlet she could see. Riya hadn't been left waiting long before the door to her room opened and in walked a cute nurse, all dark skinned and aura-ed, warm pink hair, and downcast eyes. So, the soft spoken nurse was a geist of some sort, though her overly long claws were certainly a little bit extra. A hybrid then, and Hallowed, like herself. "Cherry," She echoed, to better commit the name to memory. A little quirked smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "I've, ah, gone and done something stupid to myself." She softly scoffed at her own failure, but shook her head and watched Cherry busy herself for a moment, gathering up the necessary items necessary for cleaning her various and sundry aches and scrapes.

Riya hummed as she pondered her options. "Okay, this might sound weird, but would it be okay if we sort of split the difference? I'm mostly worried about my collarbone here, so maybe magic that better? I don't want to be on my butt for however long if it's bad enough to need surgery. And I'd be fine sporting a cast on my arm for a bit. It's not my dominant hand, so it'd be okay taking a plaster based vacation. Is it an all or nothing type of deal? I've never broken anything before...And, of course! Don't let me keep you from doing whatever it is that you need to do. Been working here long?" There was little in the way of transition between her answering the quiet nurse's inquiries and starting a line of questions and chit chat of her own. "I mean, I don't come in here often; I try to make a point to not injure myself if I can help it, so there's always I chance I've just never seen you on the handful of times I've breezed through." Riya scooted closer to the edge of the table, shifting from tapping her heels to wiggling her feet side to side, which, while it let her work out some of her nervous energy after her fall, did aggravate the scrapes and newly developing bruises on her shins and knees. "Will this hurt?" Hurt more? Sting? Might depend on what her minor injuries were going to get cleaned with. Her overall general ache was enough to have the eyes on her wings squeezed shut, the one on her chest narrowed as if pained, though the three on her face seemed to be simply open and blinking normally. It dawned on her that she hadn't gotten a clear look into Cherry's eyes, as lowered and looking after her duties as they were. Was she shy? Riya chuckled softly. "I'm not in that bad of shape, am I?"

User Image Cherry was a bit shell shocked she hadn't been expecting to meet a cute hallowed in her clinic. One who seemed to know a lot about what had happened to them, so she was a little thrown as she continued to avoid eye contact. Shying away as Riya continued chatting away. Cherry took everything in as she waited for a moment to catch up so she could tell Riya everything she needed to know to go into this with all the information she needed. Once Riya finished speaking Cherry said softly. "Yes, that could work.. Umm do you have a medical background??" She asked curiously. "The collarbone is the most important, and yes I can just heal that with magic or a charm. Then I can clean your scraps and set your wrist the normal way." Cherry peeked up at Riya under her eyelashes showing her skull shaped pupils a little bit. "Let's x-ray your wrist so we are sure that it doesn't need surgery." Cherry said and then said. "Umm I mean I'll x-ray it." Cherry blushed her cheeks turning red. Cherry shook her head as she was still blushing and she blinked confused. Did she come here often?? "Umm I've been working here for a few months?? I come here most days of the week for my job??" Cherry then shook her head and said "No it shouldn't hurt, if it does let me know, because then something has gone wrong with the magic." Cherry shook her head and blushed again. "No you look very good for what the chart says happened.. umm your very pretty.." Cherry said softly blushing again.

Riya smiled, quite pleased with the cute nurse's curiosity. "Alas, 'fraid not. Back when I was in the Academy, my roommate was always active and getting banged up someway or another. She's still active these days, but she's graduated with a medical degree. She's got her specialty, but she still has her notes and a few textbooks from her schooling around the house. I'm pursuing a few different degrees. I also must confess that I do have a bit of a fondness for medical dramas on TV. Not that those will impart too much in the way of actual medical information." She chuckled, going to make a shrug but winced, hissing softly as she sharply sucked an inhale through clinched teeth. Okay, no shrugging. The waves of pain eased as she tried to still herself. "I'm ready when you are, darlin'," Riya chimed, offering a little grin at seeing the cute nurse's face flush. "I know I'm in good hands." The fallen tipped her head slightly, trying to get a better look at her eyes. Even through her lashes, Riya could see that Cherry had beautifully purple irises, and a hint of something else? Maybe she, like other Hallowed Riya had seen, had shaped pupils. How intriguing! Her quirked little grin eased into an almost encouraging smile.

Ah, so she's been here for a little bit. Makes since, it had been several months since she had last come rolling into this particular place. Or, if she had been working, perhaps they missed each other. Colds and flus came and went throughout the year, plus other seasonal, or day to day issues. Oh, well. She was meeting and speaking with her now! With Cherry's assurance, Riya sighed. "I'll give your hand or arm a squeeze if I'm feeling anything. I have faith that I won't need to." The complement surprised and tickled her pink. "You're too kind, Cherry, but thank you. Once some of this dirt, grass, and blood gets washed off of me, I think I can clean up pretty well. And, ah, feel free to let me know if I'm being too forward here, I bet you leave patients thinking you hung the very moon and stars, being such a fine and caring nurse as you are. No doubt that it's very easy to fall a little in love with you."

User Image Cherry smiled shyly as she listened to Riya explain why she knew so much about medicine. "Oh, that's nice." Cherry said softly. Cherry had never wanted to be anything other than a nurse. She liked the level of her medical education. She liked being a nurse, though some doctors were really mean to nurses. Cherry nodded and got the x-ray so Cherry could x-ray Riya's wrist to make sure the break wasn't too bad. "Nope, this looks like a cast will work just fine." Cherry said softly then she said "I'll need to get the doctor to put your wrist in the cast and I'll help ok." She said softly. The pink that flushed Cherry's cheeks was very noticeable on Cherry's black skin as she listening to Riya speak. The doctor came in and Cherry helped to put Riya in the cast and clean Riya up and the doctor quickly left. "Umm no I umm don't think patients think that I'm not all that great." Cherry said seriously since she really didn't think she was anything to fuss over.

User Image The whole x-ray process didn't take any time at all. With the revelation that she wouldn't have to have surgery, Riya was very much relieved. If she would have required surgery, she probably would have just gone for broke and would have seen what all magical cures and the like that could have helped her. "That's really great to hear. Whew!" She laughed to herself. "Good, good, good." The fallen paused and nodded to the quiet nurse. "Sure thing. I know you've got me covered." Riya observed keenly as Cherry and the doctor wrapped her arm with the plaster coated fabric, making sure she wasn't losing feeling in her fingers, making sure that it was snug, but not too tight. Chit chat was light and genial while the doctor was in, and once they were gone the conversation returned to what they had been talking about before. Riya listened as Cherry spoke, tipping her head back a bit while carefully considering her words. She offered a smile, reaching out the hand of her non-casted arm, and set her hand on top of Cherry's, giving it a squeeze, brushing her thumb across the back of her hand. "Well, this one does. You've shown me that you're a wonderful nurse and a beautiful person, both inside and out. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Yeah?" She nodded, as if in punctuation of her statements.

User Image Cherry was happy that she was able to help another patient, Riya thought felt special already like Cherry and Riya could be friends easily. Even though Cherry didn't know what else Riya liked to do yet, but Cherry liked Riya's personality. She was so brave and flirty it was sweet though it threw Cherry for a loop that Riya was flirting with her. Telling her she had hung the moon and stars because she had been a good nurse. It wasn't the normal interaction she had with patients. Cherry wouldn't be able to start anything with Riya till Riya was healed but the casual flirting was a lot of fun. Cherry nodded as they started finishing up the first appointment to take care of Riya's wounds. "Alright you're about good to go, you'll need to make some appointments so we can keep track of your healing wrist." Cherry said softly.

User Image Riya just simply could not believe that other's weren't singing Cherry's praises. Or perhaps they just weren't being quite so overt and vocal about it as she was currently being. Ah, well. Cherry knew the truth now! Rubbing her free hand along her cast, she hummed thoughtfully to herself. The appointment for her getting patched up was winding down, but she didn't quite want it to end there. Getting hurt on purpose to see a cute nurse would probably be frowned upon and, in general, she tried to avoid doing just that if she could manage. Getting hurt, not seeing cute nurses. The mention of further appointments perked her out of her cast contemplation with a quirked grin and arching of one of her eyebrows. "How soon would you like to see me again? I can be quite available on pretty short notice." Of course, referring to a follow up appointment. Absolutely, sure. "Also, what would you say to being the first to sign my cast? Maybe, if you're feeling it, your name on my arm and your number in my phone?" The fallen asked as she slid to stand on the floor in front of the sweet, shy woman in front of her. To perhaps lessen the pressure, Riya folded her wings back behind her back and tucked her hip wings close against her hips. Cut down on the eyes looking expectantly at Cherry by half easily. The ones on her face and chest were a different matter, but she softened her expression to an easy, friendly smile. Upon walking out the door, she wouldn't be strictly a patient anymore, just some one on the street. "No pressure, if you'd prefer to keep things more, ah, professional though. I enjoy talking with you."

User Image Cherry blushed as Riya flirted with her and ask Cherry to sign her cast and give her, her phone number. She smiled shyly and nodded and said softly. "I would like that after you last check up anyways.." Since Cherry wasn't supposed to go on dates with patients. Though she supposes it wouldn't hurt to be friends with Riya in the mean time. Cherry smiled warmly and said softly "I don't feel pressured your very kind and believe in me more than I believe in me." She said before she wrote down her name and number on Riya's cast. "I look forward to your final check up." She said softly
