Warren tripped and fell over a root. He landed weakly on his hands and was breathing heavily from exhaustion. His back was covered in cuts, scratches and blood. Much of the blood had dried around his smaller wounds but glass and splinters could still be seen poking out of his skin. He had just gone through the worst day of his life. As obvious to anyone who would have witnessed him, he should have stayed on the ground where he was. He had lost much blood and was about to collapse. It did not stop him from trying to push himself back up. He staggered but made it to his feet again. He moved slower now, and was crouched, trying to look for something on the ground. He had been tracking an animal all night, the one that had attacked him. He had been following its blood, he had injured its foot and was holding one of its claws in his hand. He only made it a few more steps before he collapsed again, his vision was blurry and his ears felt like they had cotton in them. He could feel himself about to faint.

Northern Tale was new territory for her, but she wasn't afraid. She'd be no where if she was afraid of unknown lands. After all, for a girl who went out of her way to go off the path, San'thari put herself in danger often. She'd been chased by Witu, almost run over by a stampede of aldabuk, she had an encounter with poison ivy, and berries that she was pretty sure were poison recently. So, she would not be deterred just because she knew absolutely nothing about Northern Tale. She'd been here a few days now. Her room in the in was small, cozy and comfortable, sporting a table and a chest for her things. The table had a number of open books on them, various plant matter and parts scattered about, along with a bottle of wine with a stained cup. The hours San'thari spent pouring over books and scrolls of whatever information she could find on the flora of these woods close by were making her something of a shut in. She only saw the inn keeper when he brought her her dinner and wine (she liked to skip the first two meals, instead focusing her time on mixing herbs that were cured into powders, pastes and teas.). Today, however, was the day she went to the woods to explore. She put her 'explorer gear' on. Really it was just a pair of pants that could be tucked into her boots, a shirt that covered her torso, and a hat for protection. A pair of thick gloves were stuffed onto a pack she had slung across her shoulder and out she went. It seemed as though San'thari just entered the woods to begin looking that she saw blood on the ground. She tensed, her jaw clenched and her hands tightened on the strap to her pack. Despite a voice inside telling her to go the opposite direction, she followed the trail. Not long after that is when she saw someone collapsed, and from the looks of him, she found the owner of the blood. Pulling her hat off, San'thari ran over to the man who looked like he'd been in some kind of explosion and swallowed thick. "Can you hear me?" She asked, her voice sharp, bordering on hard. "Sir, are you able to speak? Can you tell me your name?" All the while she had gotten to her knees and pulled out her home made first aid kit. "Sir?"

Warren could barely make out a silhouette. The curling hair, was it "Mother?" his voice was soft and weak. She sounded muffled to him, like she was far away. "Don't go.." he groaned and rolled to his side. He squinted weakly at the figure. Warren was trying to decide if he was dying or if there was actually someone in front of him. "I'm not ready, I have to kill it." he managed to say before his head tipped back.

Mother? One of the more normal things she'd been called before. With a little shake of her head, she watched him roll around and then sighed. Well, he was going to be one of these kinds wasn't he? Not even a healer, and she knew what to do. "Unfortunately not." Without even a moments hesitation, San'thari took a cloth and started to carefully wipe at the blood on his back. "This might hurt," she said, seeing the broken glass still embedded in his skin. Seemed to be small splinters of wood, too. Oh boy, this day got interesting. She couldn't move him. He was way too big for her to even try to carry or drag, and he couldn't walk by himself. He was getting pale with how much blood he'd lost. Focusing on the task at hand, San'thari's hands started moving, cleaning what she could off. Her canteen of water was pulled out and dumped on the cloth to wet it, rinse it, and then she sighed. "Brace yourself." It was her only warning before she went to get the first, and largest piece she could see, of glass out of his back.

Just as things were starting to get dark and quiet, a sharp light of pain cut through him. He had hardly noticed the pain before, he was to focused on finding the sermal. Now he couldn't even remember why he was out here. His first reaction made him jerk away from the pointy thing. Was something biting him? He slapped his hand on his shoulder without thinking. He let out a pained cry in response. It was then he realized there was a person leaning over him, he looked up at them with a startled expression on his face. "What are you doing?" He said more forcefully than he intended.

She'd gotten the piece out before he slapped himself on the shoulder and she winced. Those weren't exactly great shoulders to slap in terms of crystal placements. At least he seemed way more aware of where he was and what was happening. San'thari met his eyes dead on and just raised both brows. "Helping you. You've got glass and wood stuck in your back. Don't roll over on it, or everything will get buried." It was an order and not a suggestion. She dropped the piece of glass off to the side and put a bit of a thick mud in the spot it had been, even having to push some of it into the wound itself. "I'm San'thari. I make medications. I found you just laying here, bleeding after following a trail of blood." She didn't say anything else after this, just looked for the next piece that'd be easy to pull out.

He winced as she rubbed dirt into his wound. He didn't move and stayed still. He was trying to piece his thoughts together. How had he gotten here? The glass, it brought images of his mothers broken room to his mind. The wood and splinters from where he broke down the door. Something was sharp in his hand. He looked down to see a claw. The sermal he was tracking, the one that killed his mother, it was surely gone by now. "I was looking for a sermal, I had it but it ran away. I was trying to find it." The pain was coming from so many places it felt dull, only when she pulled at one of the wounds did the pain brighten again. He didn't want to move out of fear of making it worse. He had never been beat up this badly. His head still felt faint, "I need water. I was running all night" It had been more like stumbling, but he had managed to get pretty far.

It wasn't dirt, it was a kind of healing paste. She would have argued that fact, but he hadn't voiced it. So the Leaf woman kept pulling glass and splinters out of his back, trying to pack it with the paste/mud and then peeked over his large frame to see something in his hand. She moved around to the front then, settled on her rump and took his hand in hers. "...Well you.. have a claw," she murmured with a sigh. San'thari didn't have the cloth with her she was using to pull out things on his back, so she did this with just her fingers. She put the paste on his hand as well, but she ended up wrapping up his hand first. At the mention of water, San'thari worked her way to her knees and reached out and over him, grunting when she found the canteen of water she knew she had close to his legs. She settled back down and opened it up before slowly bringing it to his lips. "I've gotten everything out of your back, I think. I don't have any bandages that'll cover your width, so, I'm just going to have to keep an eye on it until I can wrap it. Do you live near here? Should I try to find someone to help me get you home?"

"Thank you" he said finally. She had been incredibly generous with her help and she deserved that thanks. A pained look flashed through his eyes when he looked at the claw. He stuck it under his belt as if to hide it. He took some much needed gulps of water before responding. "I.. My name is Warren. I live much farther south, no one would be home now anyway." he winced as he tried to get up but settled for sitting. He reached to touch some of the sore spots. He was surprised to discover they were larger than he had anticipated. "Actually, I am not entirely sure where I am." he admitted.

"Well Warren, you're currently in Tale." She gave him something of a little smile. "Near Sauti, actually. Close to a settlement I'm actually staying at." San'thari tucked some of her hair behind her ear before she moved back behind him, checking the spots he touched and then started to pack up again. "Rest here a while.. We'll camp for a day, let you recover... I'll find something to make shelter out of." She looked around them now, humming. One thing about being her is she spent a lot of time with plants. Her knowledge on them was plentiful and she was a resourceful woman so she knew how to camp and what ferns would make a good temporary shelter. With the right vines she could even make rope if necessary. "I'll give you my bed when we get back. I want to keep an eye on those wounds and make sure they don't get infected." Her manner of talking was very motherly in a way. "Also, you're welcome..."

"I made it to Tale..." he said to himself. He had traveled pretty far last night considering he was half dead. "No, I should keep moving. It's not safe out here."As he stood up, the pain left his body in the sound of a hiss. Once on his feet he kept still and breathed very consciously a few times. Pain is weakness leaving your body. Was that the saying? He looked around at their surroundings as if he was mentally mapping it. "The beast could still be around here. And I am in no condition to protect you if it comes after me again." She would be better off leaving him be, but he got the feeling she wasn't the type to do that. He had the nagging feeling that his trouble would somehow follow him and anyone who stuck around would end up in it too.

San'thari pinned him with a stern, hard look. "Do not move," she said, moving to push him back onto his side. "You lost a lot of blood. If you keep pushing yourself you could bleed out, and then where will you be?" She was chiding a fully grown adult and had zero qualms about it. Men were so stubborn that she wanted to headbutt each and everyone of them when they acted like this. So prideful. Then he stood up despite her warnings and she ran her hands over her face, smearing dirt and the paste on it before finally finishing her packing. The bag was put back around her and she looked at him. "...Let's go back to my room at the inn, then. You'll have my bed." With that, she started the way she came. "If you need my shoulder to lean on at all, if you get dizzy, just let me know. I'm not as delicate as I look." San'thari knew she couldn't support his full weight, but she could help if he could walk. She just hoped he could make it all the way to the settlement.

Warren could not understand why this person wanted to help him so badly. She had no idea who he was. She had not asked him why he was in such a sorry state, she just helped, no hesitation. It made him a little suspicious of her intentions. She was so stern the way she talked to him, was she scolding him? It made him feel a little embarrassed but he was in to much pain to care. He didn't feel comfortable taking her bed either. He would have been fine on the ground. As he went to follow he wobbled a little. He reached out to grab her shoulder for some support. He wasn't dead yet, and if he could stand then he could walk. "So, what were you doing out here? Do you often go out looking to help dead men?" for all he knew, she could be a healer and that literally would be her job.

"I was looking for plants to resupply what I need to make medications," she stated matter-of-factly. She wasn't scolding per say, but she didn't understand people who continued to try to move after they were hurt. But, San'thari was trying not to judge. "You're hardly dead. If you can move around this much then you're a long way from dead unless you start bleeding from a cut on an artery I didn't see and am not equipped to deal with. I can't give stitches. That's why I put the thick mud on the cuts on your back. It'll act like glue for a short time until we get you to a proper healer." She pushed her bangs out of her face and looked him over slowly. The hand on the shoulder, the way he wobbled, honestly Warren was text book 'lost too much blood' but with his size she couldn't get him to stay still. San'thari wasn't the kind to force him unless they were in a relationship together and in all honesty, she'd never been in one with anyone. "Let's walk slowly."
