n** trudged along, the thick snow crunching underneath her boots and her breath fogging up in the cold. She didn't mind the cold, really. She actually quite preferred it when it wasn't getting her sick. The sun was peeking through the clouds and making the snow reflect the light, making n** shield her eyes from the glow. She ducked into Ovixus' shadow to shield herself from the harsh light, making her large, imposing friend a sort of shield for her eyes. He was pretty convenient to have around, really.
They approached a large cavern made of ice and stone and rather lovely. n** let out a gasp of astonishment. Ice harpies live here? They have impeccable taste! She wandered ahead and pulled out a shiny trinket, letting the sunlight glint off of it. "This should attract one. We draw them out one at a time. I used to do this while living with the fairies." She whispered, her breath becoming steam.

Treading through the cold snow, the ground crunching under his weight, Dyhren followed with senses alert and sensitive. While their objective was the harpies, that doesn't mean that there aren't other creature that could be lurking about. As the group arrived to the mouth of the cave, the beast did his beast to sniff out a scent. Or perhaps sense an aura. anything that could give him a hint to other life forms.
Observing N** and her method for attracting the harpies, the panther made sure to keep to the shadowy area and his body low to the ground. The cave which was the color of pure crystalline and low hues of blue would surly contradict the color of his pelt. It would do the group no good should his dark fur give them away. Though he did not appreciate the cold water clinging to his underbelly. The temperature was much lower than in the kingdom where it's shielded by mountains in every direction.
Ovixus seemed fixated on the horizon as the group traveled, his hand twitching eagerly as he waited for the chance to finally strike a foe down with eager, calculative strikes. He mused the battles that would take place in his mind multiple times as the snow flattened under toe, but he continued on happily with the curiosity of what a harpy's innards looked like sprawled on snow.
Carefully, Ovixus removed his favored weapon, Animus, from its split place at his side before he glanced about the rather extravagant entrance to the harpy cave. With a swift move, he combined the two halves of his staff, turning the polearm into the vicious weapon once more. He removed the coverings from the blades shortly after, simply tossing them into the snow as he paced before the cave, standing behind the device that n** placed to lure the harpies out.
"Trinkets are but the tools of the tasteless. I'd much rather enter the cave myself and tear them to bits, whether I be swarmed or not." He muttered the last bit, but his opinion on how to handle the beasts remained quite blunt and clear—Ovixus made it quite apparent that he feared very little. He had survived a battle with an Elder Dragon, and saw himself as quite the formidable foe, even if that hot air went to his head.
Whatever the temperature was, it was cold, but not cold enough for Ovixus' blood to freeze. In fact, it boiled with the excitement and anticipation of a glorious, bloody battle, even if he had to decapitate the desolate demons one by one.

n** heard Vix's remark about charging into the nest, sword's blazing. She wasn't about to tell him that wasn't going to work, though. Harpies were very good at surrounding people and overwhelming them, regardless of their experience in battle. They did this for survival, not just as a game.
Making sure that the sun caught the metal object and reflected into the cavern, n** ignited a fire ball in her hand and hid by the entrance, waiting for a harpy to emerge. About a minute later, rustling sounds echoed from the cave as a harpy came out from the icy cave. She approached the metal coin and pawed at it with the tip of her white wing. Just as she was about to pick it up and carry it into the cave to add to her collection, a black and white blur tackled her. n** had the harpy on the ground and before the bird-like being could scream to alert her sisters, n** slammed her left hand into the harpy's face, igniting the creature and killing her. After the creature was dead for sure, n** dragged her body out of sight and buried her in the snow to prevent the others from detecting her scent. "They'll be out soon to see what the ruckus was about." n** said, "Be prepared." She looked at Vix and nodded, indicating that he should probably hide. Harpies were strong yet n** was rather good at ambushing them because even if they were strong, they were still really just big, dumb birds.

Watching the frail looking girl, take down a fierce creature was a sight to behold. Then again , she was confident in coming along and her search for a reward can drive a person. While N** was burying the harpy, Dyhren moseyed over to take a quick whiff of the corpse's scent. Tracking should be easier with a fresh trace. Once he finished his business, Dyhren moved along the cave's walls once more and put his nose to the air.
Catching the slightest of hints, a slow growl erupted from the beast chest. Remembering of the satchel around his neck, Dyhren pawed at its connecting area and placed it down. Hopefully this hunting was going to go smoothly so he wouldn't have to use the contents in them. The sound of flapping wings approached. This time, two harpies appeared. One stuck her talons into the ice on the cave's ceiling while the other went to investigate a the strange sound of earlier. As the one to the ground slowly approached her deceased sister, the panther creeped as close as he could before pouncing on the creatures back. Using his paws to keep her silver wings pinned. Within seconds Dyhren clenched his jaws on the back of the harpies neck and twisting until the bones snapped.
Ovixus was somewhat amused by n**'s magical strike, but didn't really believe that she was capable of much more than that. She looked far too inexperienced, in his mind, but perhaps she'd prove him wrong. He could believe that she had experience in slaying these particular beasts for sure, as judged by her assault on the creature before them. Its death, however, would surely attract more pests, and n** made sure to let Ovixus remember that.
Instinctively, he brought his weapon about in preparation, but kept to the side of the cave's entrance in hopes of ambushing whatever was to come out next. Of course, the aggressive creature called Dyhren finally showed his true nature when another appeared, only to be food for the feline. Ovixus smirked, calmly waiting for the next chance he had to strike.

n** watched as the panther killed the second harpy, ending her life with a quick bite to the neck. The harpy on the cavern ceiling had seen Dyrhen and let out a terrible scream to alert her sisters to their presence. n** swore under her breath, annoyed that their cover was blown. She was more skilled with one-on-one fights with these creatures, but a swarm of them was more than she could handle. Better to pass the deed off to the tank... "All yours, Vix!" She yelled, igniting fire balls in both hands and moseying her way behind him. She could hurl fire at them while he fought them off.
Suddenly, five harpies emerged from the cave, screeching in fury as they saw the three intruders. n** covered her ears quickly, as their screams could stun anyone who heard them. Two of the monsters swooped down, talons aimed at Ovixus...

Cowering his ears to his head, the beast growled at the horrible distorted sound the female creature was producing from her mouth. The first think he thought of was to cut out the creatures throat just so the it would shut its beak. But his desire to do so was put down as the sound of multiple wings reach what hearing he had left. Another growl erupted from Dyhren chest. Seeing that two were occupying themselves with he other intruders, it seems the panther was to fend off against the others. Watching their movements closely, the beast first target was the screeching woman on the ceiling. Though getting up there was going to prove a challenge, Dyhren was up for it. Quickly coming up with a chance strategy he waited until the other three flew in his direction.
Mustering his psyche, the panther stood ready as the harpies neatly aligned themselves for him. Once he saw the opening, Dyhren conjured his Guardian. Translucent, glass like walls appeared just in front of the two nearest to himself. Pouncing with his hind legs, the beast nimbly used the wall like platforms and propelled himself off their surface. Climbing on up, he jumped from the last harpies back in the direction to the one who gave the signal. Baring his fangs, the panther sunk his teeth into the Harpies shoulder and dragged her down with him to the floor. Just before impact the beast climbed on top of the other and used his weight to ram her into the ground. Once he had a clear shot, the panther clawed at its underbelly. Splatting the creatures blood on the ground. With one taken care of, Dyhren began running around the caver trying his best to avoid aerial attacks from the others. Using the caves structure as coverage.

OOC: I apologize greatly for my rather consistent inactivity as of recently. I was sick a week or so ago, and that set me back in schoolwork as I refused to overwork myself. I'm currently working on everything I've missed now, but that stacked with my birthday on the 26th, so... It's just been hectic. Hopefully this somewhat erratic post helps. c: Song:Lord of the Abyss
Finally, it was the time for Ovixus to show off his unmatched combat prowess. He truly believed he wouldn't and couldn't be stopped by meager creatures such as the pest-like harpies before them. Even the incessant warning cries of the sentinel hanging on the ceiling—or rather, before it was murdered by the royal beast—was nothing to push off his focus. He battled in a civil war, and that alone was not enough to deter his focus, even if his ears were to bleed and pound.
Of course, they simply rang when he rushed forward at the swooping creatures, spinning his polearm in the air to deflect the claws that tried desperately to slash at him. The creatures hovered above him, snarling and screeching louder and louder as he spun his weapon. They were airborn, and thus made them a nuisance, so Ovixus planned to even the odds.
The harpies' sharp black talons collided with the dragon-slaying metal of his weapon, and the sheer impact of the first strike ended up sending the first harpy to the left, throwing her off balance in the air. She was bewildered by the power of his move, but her larger companion barely flinched at the action. Without warning, she sent a gust of frigid air at Ovixus' direction, yet he did not falter in his steady stance. Instead, he crouched down, focusing his momentum on his feet. The lighter harpy took the opportunity to swoop in once more, hoping to slash at him with all her might, but she was met by the man's mask as he leaped into the air as high as he possibly could. Ovixus split Animus in half on the way up, and dragged the blades through the harpy's light wings. The blades glided through her feather and flesh like butter, and the larger harpy was startled by the strike so much so that she let out an ear-piercing shriek by the time her companion crashed into the snow, a trail of blood in the space she once flew in.
Ovixus managed to flip in the air on his way down, allowing himself to throw the first half of his weapon at the grounded pest before suddenly being tackled down into the snow himself by the angered, larger harpy. The grounded one was impaled by the blade, and her wounded wings struggled to move to the area of her stomach where the blade pinned her to the ground. She would bleed out, and no longer posed a threat.
The impact of the big harpy slamming into Ovixus knocked the wind out of his lungs, but he manged to recover when sliding through the snow. His robes were left with a few scratches, but the new cloak he wore took most of the blow. He should have suspected he'd have been attacked by the bigger one after making his move, but he was arrogant, and over-confident in his abilities. He would do better.
A devilish smirk grew beneath his terrible visage, and his scarlet eyes flashed at the creature before he snickered. "I was hoping for a challenge... Instead, I get a nuisance that tears at my clothes." He scoffed, twirling the axe-like half of his weapon as he waited for the next strike. The big harpy bared its gnarled fangs and swung its left wing in a motion that projected—as Ovixus counted—five razor-sharp feathers moving at breakneck speeds. His eyes narrowed, and he barreled to the side as they stabbed into the snow of where he once stood, one by one. However, the final feather grazed his mask, leaving a very small, indiscernible scratch on the organic surface.
While the attacks were minuscule and somewhat laughable for the war veteran, he was in no mood for laughter anymore. He observed the harpy flapping its wings about fifteen feet away from him, and he knew he couldn't let the creature have the satisfaction of taunting him. She screeched once more, but he refused to flinch. His ears throbbed and his head pounded, but he suddenly sprinted at the creature and leaped once more, this time swinging his weapon at the mid-region of the harpy. She swung her claws in the direction of the blade in hopes of blocking it, but the beast's brain couldn't piece together the speed with which Ovixus moved to attack with.
When the attack was over, Ovixus rolled to the ground. He was steadying himself for another hit, but the small battle was over.
The harpy clung to her chest as blood began to pool underneath her, causing her to collapse to the ground also. Her friend had been long gone by then.
Remorselessly, Ovixus swung his weapon to the side, scattering the creature's blood in the snow while he slowly approached the one he impaled a moment ago.

As Ovixus took care of the harpies in a rather terrifying display of carnage, n** watched silently, extinguishing the flames in the palms of her hands. She knew he wouldn't be needing her assistance as he ripped through the monsters at an inhumanly fast pace. She shuddered a bit, mildly unsettled by his display of brutality and fierceness. She knew he was a warrior and an ex-knight, but she didn't think he had that much skill, despite his assertion that he fought and killed dragons for funsies (something that n** didn't really like. Dragons and fairies were allies and the elder dragons were kind to her occasionally. However, she kept this to herself.)
n** was more accustomed to picking them off one at a time. She was considerably weaker than they, so resorting to sneaky tactics was the only way she could fight them. However, Ovixus and Dyrhen saved her both time and energy; if she were to take them on by herself, they would be here all night. As the last harpy fell, n** charged forward into the cave to check for any stragglers. Usually, there were harpy chicks and eggs way in the back being guarded by a Queen, but she saw none. She was rather happy about it, too. Usually the Queens required far more effort to fight than their lesser sisters. And killing harpy chicks was never a fun task, regardless of their predatory nature. Instead of a Queen and some eggs, n** saw what she was looking for: the gold and valuables that the harpies took from the travelers they killed (and presumably ate.) n** let out a happy yelp and scampered over to the pile, rummaging through it and picking out things she wanted. While she was scrounging through the treasure, n** found a mirror with a blacked-out face, just like the one she found in the Market. However, this one was upside-down tear-shaped with a cluster of silver roses decorating the area where the mirror connected to the handle. n** ran her fingers over the surface before putting it in her bag, resuming her search for valuables. "Vix, you should gather the parts from the harpies. The wings and talons are the parts that are most valuable." She called over to Vix, "I'll gather up the treasure. I can carry it all back to the Kingdom and we can divvy it up there."

There was a power outage in my area because of a cell tower falling. It took out my wifi and the time to restore it was so long. I'll try to post even more to make up for lost time.
Weaving in and out of the cave's pillars was a bit tiring for the mighty beast. Not because of his lack in stamina but for the reason that the thick ice in freezing temperatures was the perfect scenario for noise to bounce off. Although Dyhren did his best to keep his ears covered, the constant screeching of the harpies was both irritating and head racking. The sound alone brought a heavy burden to the feline's sensitive hearing. Fed up with its constant running of it's mouth, the panther searched for the right corner to set up a trap. Scanning the area, he discovered just that. Two pillars were aligned in a way that worked as a sort of bridge from a higher ground. The space in between the floor and the pillars underbelly was enough so that full grown adult could squeeze right through. Thinking of how this space could be useful, Dyhren made his way over before he thought of his plan all the way through.
Crawling through the space as best as he could, the beast found that on the other side was a narrow route looping itself around towards the main entrance once again. Soon enough a harpy woman was in flight after him. Fortunately for him, the opening was too small for the creature to be able to extend it's wings. In turn the bird was using its talons to claw her way through the opening. It was at this moment that the beast found his chance. While she was occupied with her too eager way in, the panther used his weight to slam the woman's head to the ground. The birds thrashing around was difficult for the feline to have a clean shot to the skin's surface. Digging his fangs in the harpy's head he then sunk his teeth where he could. In and out came his fangs, blood dripping down his mussel. Making small but deep gashing all along the creatures back. Letting it bleed out to death before hoping over it's corps and pursuing the other two. After crawling his way over once again to the side he had originally came from. It seems like the other two let their dumbest sister go first for they were patiently awaiting Dyhren above. At the first sight of the royal beast did the harpies start their attack. Taken a bit by surprise the feline built his Guardian on instinct. The ear shuttering sound of nails scrapping against glass spread through the area as both sets of talons clashed with his defense.
The mere irritating and extremely aggravating breach of his innards were too much to for Dyhren to be able to keep his composure. Copying the bird's habit of yelling, the beast growled as loud as he could in the harpy's faces. Letting out his Panther's Pride. Sending the creatures off flying they soon recovered as they were more accustomed to the air than he was. Though at this point It doesn't matter. Dyhren is already enraged. The direct violation to his peaceful mindset was rnough to break his sanity. Not caring for any set strategy now, the beast did was he does best and hunted. Eying his prey down, he held his intimidating demeanor and waited until the harpies charged in for their attack before raising his Guardian once more. Leaping in underneath his wall of defense only to swerve his way around and swipe furiously at the bird's wings. Scattering their plumage to the wind the women returned fire with their own random slashes. A few hitting their mark and detaching a few small of his fur. Once fed up with this repeated dispatching of material, Dyhren began using his psyche to crush the two creatures together in between his walls. Squeezing the two bodies with great force. The one thing that restored any pleasure to his ears was the sound of bones cracking.
Breathing heavily from his frenzy, the feline walked away from the scene while the walls continued their lasting grip on the harpy ladies until there was nothing remotely recognizable left. With feather in between his claws and fans, as well as the iron taste of an enemies blood in his mouth Dyhren trotted his way to the entrance. Ignoring the other people around him. His main objective now was to find a nice patch of white snow and wash way any remains of the battle in a makeshift ice water shower.

Ovixus finished dusting himself off and cleansing his weapon from the blood of his enemies quite quickly by the time n** had gone off to enter the cave. He heard cries from inside it, and assumed that the blood splatterings were the source of Dyhren's primal strikes to the creatures also, so he didn't bother checking to see if anyone was alright. After all, if he had to kill everything on his own he certainly would. Of course, it would be awkward to express to the Queen that her pawn died, so he was glad that when n** called out to tell him to harvest the most valuable material from the corpses, followed by the bloody panther's approach from the cave, he let out a sigh of awkward relief.
"I skin like no other, but I think that I might have damaged some of the wings..." He said quite plainly, before approaching the corpses of his battle and quickly declawing them with his weapons. It wasn't a task too bloody for him, as nothing really was, so it was no surprise that he soon remorselessly cut the wings from the bodies and folded them together, before binding them with twine from his bag and stowing them in it.
I came down over the sleepy mountains where our wide toes plunged into the weeping shale to tear our skin up off from the bottom leaves our ankles bare don't just wander back and forth and leave it
n** stifled a yawn as she worked to stuff the valuables the harpies had stolen from unwary travelers into her fairy bag, listening to Ovixus explain that he damaged some of the wings. She nodded, shrugged and kept working only stopping to let out a quiet yawn, "They're still usable," She said, examining a silver fork which she then quickly stuffed into her bag, "Considering the fact that they're long feathers, they'll get broken down anyways, so a but of damage is fine. They just cost a bit less is all." n** felt around absentmindedly and picked up a skull, which she then immediately dropped, wiping her hand on her leggings. The skull rolled away and n** resumed her rummaging. She looked over at Dyrhen blinked, suddenly curious as to what he looked like out of his form. Was he old? Bald? Ugly? She really wanted to know, but he didn't seem like the type who cared to indulge others to his true form. Most shapeshifters weren't and never showed their true forms to anyone besides their closest allies. Of course, that wasn't going to stop n** from trying to find out.
