With the sun only two hours set, Alternia was cast in a soft maroon glow, illuminated by the two moons rising through the sky. Long shadows stretched across the landscape, holding the far reaches of the horizon in darkness. On the north east side of Busthind however, the moonlight bathed the hills in the full rosy glory of early twilight. Life on Alternia stirred, as the deadly heat of day slipped away.
Skipping across the rocks, wings aglisten with evening dew, Autumn hurried ahead to the meeting site. Her wings carried her swiftly through the air, and as she floated from boulder to boulder, her feet never seemed to touch the ground. With each passing night, she grew stronger, faster... or perhaps that was just a symptom of her nerves.
She glanced behind her to where Caiden scaled the mountain path. They had come a long ways from his hive all the way around the mountainside and she could hardly blame him for dragging his feet. The swamp stretched off to their right, nothing but flatland for miles. Salamire Outpost remained hidden well within its depths, concealed by the marsh trees that grew there, but they were closer than before. Much closer.
Up ahead, Autumn spotted the agreed rendezvous point. Lifting herself higher in the air, She searched the rocky ruins for a grey cloak or splash of teal. Nothing as of yet. That or the rebel leader was hiding. She dropped back down to fall in step beside Caiden.
“We're almost there,” she told the brownblood.
“Remember, don't shout or make any sudden movements. Most importantly you should be respectful.” She hoped the brownblood would not embarrass her. She wanted Byakko to approve of him, not just as a rebel but as a friend.
“Oh, and you might have to fight. Be ready.” She had no idea what the rebel leader had planned.
