For Roland at this point the room was at least a safe place to some degree. No one looked at him funny in there and most people left him to his own devices.

That was till his phone pinged for a text message. Curiously he flipped the phone over to see who it was on his bed. Of course having reset his phone there was only a number with no information. Whoever it was used a lot of faces in their message but he was sure it wasn't America with the way the wrote. Plus they remembered him it seemed. All the more reason to believe it was someone from the old phones information.

Roland was still trying to decide how to respond when another message came in. This time a girl almost the same age as him it looked like was sitting with a large bear waving at him.

Roland was getting ready to head out when the next message rolled in, he was still confused as he’d barely started to get a grasp on what was going on here and people where already reaching out to him again. He wasn’t sure how to respond so maybe it was best to show it in person?

He made his way to the communal cafeteria hands tucked in the pockets of his jackets which where almost long enough that his arms where hanging straight to fit in the pockets. He stood in the entrance of the kitchen in oversized flip flops and shorts, the jacket coat tails almost dragging the ground. It wasn’t hard to pick out Shu, given how unique she liked to dress normally even in her picture with ‘Jorb’.

He made his way over, still taller then her, but only by a few inches now instead of a foot or more. “I umm…. I think this might explain things?” He said looking at her, and looking far less like a senpai in this moment.

Sadly poor Shu would be left hanging wondering when Roland might show up, or respond to her phone. Sitting, waiting, constantly keeping her eyes on her precious frozen treat. Roland meanwhile made his way to the cafeteria as fast as he could. For a moment they both stood there. He could only nod his head when she said his name confirming indeed this slightly strange version of Roland was him.

He felt out of place once more dressed in his old coat a few sizes too big, meanwhile Shu looked like it was just another casual day for her sporting a hoodie covered in rabbits. “Well I guess what happened….” He squeaked a bit as she took his wrists.

“I uh… no I haven’t changed back. Jordan says I was twenty two when this started.” The longer she held onto his wrist the more he started to blush trying to look away from her eyes as she spoke. She was polite for sure, and she did seem concerned for him. Eventually he did look at her again, “Before we start…. Can we have the ice cream?”

Roland nodded quickly in confirmation about Jordan, “He’s nice but it wasn’t a very good meeting.” He frowned a bit, “It wasn’t his fault, I just think, Sylvia and I have some stuff we need to work out about all of this hunter stuff and her not having a body anymore.” The ghoul fussed somewhere in the distance, but her attention had been invoked mostly because she was curious if ice cream was any good like eye-scream that she was thinking about now. For a moment he cocked his head, wondering what Shu was mumbling about.

He never got a chance to ask as she was already bouncing off to the fridge to get the ice cream, she had TWO containers. Roland could feel his stomach growl in anticipation. Even as she moved to take a seat he reached up to help grab the extra bowels before hopping into the seat beside her to inspect the two flavors she brought with her. He put them both down still undecided at the moment before offering his hand to her, “I’m Roland Taft, I’m with umm… well I was a Mist? I don’t know if I still am because of this.” He frowned a bit, “I haven’t even ‘summoned’ my weapon so I don’t know if I can be a hunter right now really?” He moved to the strawberry cheesecake ice cream opening it up to scoop some into his bowl as he grew quiet. “Jordan said I should talk to my division leader to see if I’m still considered a Mist. On top of that H says I need to find a legal guardian on the island in a month. He implied whatever did this to us and me might still be here.”

He seemed gloomy about it as he scooped at the ice cream taking a bite finally. This however seemed to brighten him up considerably as he started to scoop more and more ice cream into his mouth before freezing dropping his spoon in the bowel, “AHHH BRAIN FREEZE.” Sylvia meanwhile was giggling like a school girl in the back of his head.

“You can call me Ro too, I know that I liked that name even before I came here,” the Roland she had known was a fair bit different, or at least, had more experiences. At this point in his life Roland had hardly ever talked to girls so there was some awkwardness in the air as this girl who was already familiar with him chatted along like an old friend he’d never really known. Or better put, like a family member who remembers when you were little but you couldn’t remember them.

Case in point the likeable part made him REALLY blush, and even with brain freeze he stuffed another spoon full of ice cream into his mouth as an excuse to not look at her as she said that. Sylvia meanwhile was watching intently, mulling over the taste and shock to Roland’s system from the ice cream. “Yeah, like um, a parent? Or someone to take me on missions and show me how things work. Because I don’t remember everything I knew before.” Like how to summon his weapon.

Again he distracted himself with the ice cream, but even that was starting to run out as Shu continued to talk. “Jordan tried to explain it, but, she remembers things? But not how she got here. We’re both kinda upset about that.” Especially the part about being dead and that even if he wanted to leave something just as bad as what happened on the island recently would try to kill him anyway.

“When it first happened she was crying a lot, I don’t blame her, but it was the screaming that was really bad.” He flinched a bit as Sylvia complained about this statement, “S-she’s a banshee so she’s really good at being um, loud, when she’s upset.” The mention of a golem however made them both pause, “<>” Roland asked as Sylvia too chimed in time with the question.

All of that was lost as she asked him a sudden question about ice cream. He blinked and stumbled for a moment his hands still held out for the ice cream she never actually passed to him, “I um, no I don’t? I don’t know Chinese?”

Roland was indeed suffering brain freeze, but he used the ice cream as a distraction to continue avoiding eye contact with Shu. He nodded a bit, "It's very loud, and impressive I guess" There was a delighted giggle from the ghoul in the back of his mind.

"I um, progress is... questionable," he ultimately decided, "I don't think we dislike each other we just.... don't like our situation?" That seemed to be the best way to look at it. Even as he mulled that over Shu gave him a small lecture in Chinese culture, had she taught him this before? He could only wonder, but he didn't want to ask. Instead he simply listened. "So it makes people happy... I don't think I've had Pistachio anything."

He took the 2nd ice cream and started to spoon it out, while he was doing this the topic of the golem came up causing the banshee to become even more insterested in the conversation they where having. << I want to try that Roland, we need to find that as soon as we can, I want a body again! >> "But it's only limited right? How long does it last?"

When she mentioned the last part, he looked at his ice cream thoughtfully, "I guess I get three then."

"I wouldn't say uncommon just not something I've tried before is all." He had inspected the container more. A strange green tinted color and based on a shell like nut? It was strange indeed to him. That said he started to scoop some into his bowel replacing the strawberry cheese cake.

He started into it, but found the taste odd, again it was something new to him, and he much preferred the overly sweet strawberry of the previous ice cream. Sylvia was practically shaking with joy at the mention she could have a body again. They still had yet to summon her as a weapon, but her interest in these golems where like a puppy pawing at a door to be let out. "I guess the extra money is good too. I don't know how much I have, I need to look into that..." He seemed to drift off in thought for a moment as he ate at his ice cream.

There was a silenced as she commented on his situation, his own thoughts roaming about a bit as Sylvia continued to show interest in the golems wondering what it would be like, she would look like herself right? Eventually Roland paid more attention. "But I forgot you, and all my friends I might have had... that part wasn't good, and I'm small now. And kinda lost..."
