Profile:
Lum was born a full fey cache orphan. Like most fey, she was accepted and invited into the large communal family that is fey and dryad culture, and she spent her freshling years there. Lum tried to embrace the "love and let live" way of life that fey have, but she always felt a little off about it. The academy resides in a city that is majority demons, and that has always made Lum feel out of place. The bellow is fine, for the most part, but the girl yearns to go and live where real sun can touch her heart flower. She started to grow a bit bitter as a freshling, feeling cooped up in the dark, even with her hobby of hording solar crystals. It was when her bitterness reached a high that she got into a physical disagreement with a fellow academy student, which resulted in her heart flower getting damaged.
Fey frown upon physical violence quite strongly, and it was this fight that Lum got into as a freshling that cracked her ties to her fey family. Lum also learned that being a fey can be dangerous, she is more fragile than other races. Being frowned down upon by her own race, coupled with her growing bitterness and fragile feelings, just made her more aggressive. She hates feeling fragile, and has since developed a thick wall of contempt and sarcasm to keep any would-be assaulter away. Lum became distant, isolating herself. If she does not bother to open herself up to others, and live by their rules, then she will not need to feel the punishments of breaking said rules.
Lum turned to a topic many fey did not bother to even bat an eyelash at; history. She felt more at home learning about the past, even if the over the top peacefulness of the fey did frustrate her, at least she could feel some sort of connection to these others. Lum focused most of her studies on the above, a place she wanted to go to. It felt so odd, to the fey, that her kind were even in the bellow to begin with. Didn't they require the bright light of the sun and moon? Lum began to question things, lots of things, and to seek out answers as well.
Lum is still a fey, and although she feels she has failed them by being herself, she wants to make things better for her people, and she believes that the Above is the key. Other races are fine, less trustworthy (except dryads), but they have their own knowledge of the past, and so Lum does her part in forging loyalties in the name of learning more. Lum frowns a bit on her house's seemingly strong desire to work together, her race was almost erased by these other races, but she wants to learn the history the fey have lost, so she keeps to herself. She often hides her racist opinions in sarcastic remarks or petty moves. Other than studding, Lum enjoys being in the garden with plants, sweet drinks, and experimental baking.
Strengths:
- Calm Headed: In times of stress, this girl can keep an calm, even leveled head. When others get too riled up or are unable to control themselves, Lum will go out of her way to show how calm she is. Sometimes all they need is a good role model in times of stress, and Lum is willing to be just that.
Independent : If there is one thing Lum can trust in, its herself. She believes in fine-tuning herself, making it so she can do what she wants, when she wants, all on her own.Lum refuses to be influenced by the thought or action of others. She has few cares, and what cares she does give out, she cherishes.
Diligent : If Lum sets her mind to something, she will do her best to achieve it. She can focus for hours on subjects she likes or whatever she chooses to set her mind to.
Faults:
- Cut-throat: Lum believes in one thing; and that's herself. She will do anything to get on top, because top is the only safe place where no one else can get to her. She has been stepped on before, and she will do just about anything to keep from being stepped on again.
Petty: If you have hurt her or someone she considers her family, watch out! Lum can be very aggressive and doesn't let past wrongs go, no matter how small. She often gets back at others in ways that seem undignified or superfluous just to feel like shes on top.
Sarcastic: Lum is incredibly sarcastic. She will taunt you all day if you let her, and she it can get to the point of bullying if her target does not fight back. She is never mean to someone directly, instead preferring to express her feelings and opinions through sarcastic remarks that she can shrug off, defending with "its just a joke chill out."
RP Prompt:
- A Day in the Life
Lum woke up, the beeping of her alarm keeping her from sleeping longer. She rubbed her eyes as she sat up. It was a school day. A quick glance at her clock informed her she had about half an hour to get ready, plenty of time. The fey spun the crystal that hung just a few feet above her bed. It was a solar crystal, a gem that she needed in order to survive. She watched the crystal spin, spilling its light around the room, with a slight frown. Why was she down here, somewhere she could not even survive without magical crystals? The fey looked outside her window, it was daylight, but not by much. The sun was barely shining through to the bellow, just enough for someone to declare it "day". Lum got up, and stretched, pulling on her clothes and school supplies. She still had 15 minutes left before she needed to be ready, but any time outside was well spent, even if it meant her teeth were not exactly brushed. The daydream folded her arms across her chest defensibly as she walked the halls to go outside. There were already other fey and some dryads enjoying the light, and Lum joined them. A few gave her subtle frowns, a few nodded polity, but Lum approached none of them. She still felt a bit of hot shame flare up in her when she saw others of her kind. She was ashamed of the fight she had gotten into so many years before, but at the same time, she still felt that anger and rage, wishing to get out. The girl sat down next to a flower, and stroked it gently, looking up at the sun. She had heard about the above, about how the sun was far brighter, about how the air and the land was different, and she felt herself yearn to be there, to be in a land of light. With a sigh the fey got up, the bell had just rung, it was time to get to class.
