Lysithea
Might be trouble by the park playground. Civilians ran from 'a monster pulling out trees'. I've got a basic and a chibi with me, might need backup. Meet me there ASAP

Adria glanced at his phone once more to make sure he hadn't missed another text from Lysithea. He and Elpis were nearing the park playground; they were nearly through the forest that had separated the playground from where they had been patrolling. "We're almost there," he said--and he could feel it.

It wasn't a Negaverse agent, but whatever it was, it was strong--and loud. Twice now, they'd heard a strange, growling roar that tapered into a vicious hiss. Once, the ground seemed to have trembled beneath them.

But that was the least of their worries. As the two super senshi passed through the last wall of trees, they got a prime look at the youma causing destruction.

Newly planted saplings had been torn from the ground, along with several bushes. The ground was torn up and a bench was smashed.

The youma responsible for the mess was a hulking beast, currently raking its claws against the cement of the bathrooms. It seemed dazed for a moment, like it was staring into empty space. Its chest heaved as it panted for breath. Its tail twitched.

A shudder ran down its spiked spine and it looked like it doubled over before it let out another monstrous howl. Moving quickly, it snatched at a tree--this one aged, easily three feet wide at the largest part, and began to claw and tug at it.

Roots were slowly rising above the surface; there was no denying that this youma was strong--and it had been wise to run from it.

Adria's charge towards the playground lessened just slightly when he caught sight of the youma.

It seemed like it was meant to stand on two legs, but it was capable of comfortably hobbling on all four. It moved like a gecko--except it had more muscle than he'd seen on any living creature. The muscles rippled as it yanked at the tree. The youma's neck was thick and bull-like, and it had the horns to match. Its tail was long and had spikes trailing down it and protruding from the tip; while it was covered in a light layer of fur, it still seemed to closely resemble some ancient dinosaur.

The face most closely resembled a wolf, though stray spikes and scales seemed to be growing on it in odd patches. The youma had a large mane and fur around each ankle and wrist.

Its talons were sharp enough to splinter parts of the tree as it pulled, and its fangs looked fierce enough to intimidate any predator.

"Oh," Adria said after a second.

He could feel the other order energy signatures nearby--which was good, because he was really glad Lysithea and her group were going to be here.

...But really bad, because it suddenly meant the youma realized it was about to have problems.

Cold, yellow eyes suddenly peeked over the youma's massive shoulder, scanning the area. It dropped the tree and seemed to stumble over itself to face the oncoming trouble.

The youma seemed crazed and a thin layer of white froth had accumulated around its open mouth. It hissed, a different noise than it had been making before; this time it sounded more like a low, reverberating croak.

The tree was forgotten; the youma seemed to be dazed again, staring into empty space.

Or, calculating its next attack.

Lysithea was really beginning to regret bringing these two out for a training exercise. A chibi senshi and a brand spanking new senshi…they weren’t going to be prepared for this youma. Hell, she didn’t feel prepared for this youma now that she saw just how large it was…and all the damage it was doing.

Thank God Adria had come. And he had brought someone with him…well. With five of them, they might be able to do something to this creature. But…
The eternal senshi glanced at the two younger senshi who stood behind her, wondering if she should tell them to run, or to hide…or to just plain get out and save themselves. “Okay, so…I guess our training is going to end up being a real fight. My friend Adria is here to help us, and it looks like he’s brought someone with him, which is great.”

She swallowed and watched as the youma…stared off into space? It looked almost sick. Could youma get sick?

With a pang, Lysithea imagined Evan getting this way, large and evil and…and hurting.

Well…this wasn’t Evan. This was a monster. “Okay you two, I need you to be careful, I’m not letting you two get hurt on my watch, so…follow my lead okay? We’re going to dust this monster and all go out for ice cream or something afterwards. My treat.”

It had been a quiet evening being out on patrol with Adria -- the fact she seemed to have a more regular partner was, if nothing else here, still new but not something she objected to. She was too used to being alone -- so when he'd mentioned a need to help another senshi, Elpis was all for it.

The Super Senshi was calm, walking after she she mentally nted the chaos signature first, and then 3 more order. Two basics and an Eternal? Whelp. The senshi looked around before focusing on the youma, studying the thing patiently. It was certainly more nasty than youma she was used to, but it was still a youma - nothing at all like another person. She'd had quite enough of human fighting to satisfy anyone, and the senshi turned to look to Adria and the others, nodding in the direction of the youma.

"Looks bigger 'n' a normal one." She noted. "Not the biggest, but we might be fine taking it. Anyone got a plan of attack?"

Sailor Forte really wasn't certain she should be here. ...Scratch that, she knew she shouldn't be. Things like - like that thing weren't supposed to exist outside of scary stories, really bad monster movies, and the kind of anime people only watched if they were into the really weird kind of things. Still, that cat had awoken her because she could fight, and this... war (though what kind of war used literal monsters as weapons) needed everyone on their side they could get, so here she was, and she wasn't - wasn't! - hiding behind Lysithea right now.

Nope.

Not hiding.

But seriously. That thing was scary.

"Better be damn good ice cream," she muttered, fidgeting with one of her long sleeves and glaring suspiciously at the creature. "You sure it's gonna be a fight? Looks more like it's about to hurl if you ask me."

Alright, maybe it didn't look quite like that but it was close enough, and there was something unsettling about it anyway - sure, she didn't mind fighting, and it looked it it could fight back, but. Ugh. She was just glad there were so many of them here to deal with it, because she really didn't think fistfights were going to cut it with something like this.

Adria bit his lip and then shrugged; they'd crossed the distance to meet up with Lysithea and her group, feeling safer in numbers.

The youma's eyes seemed transfixed on a single point, oblivious to the converging groups.

"It's just a youma. I mean, it looks strong, but they can all be dusted. If you have distance attacks, that might be best."

Dusting the youma seemed like the easy answer, after all; it was large--so noticeable that it probably wouldn't be long before someone called the police or the news to try and report it. They'd have to take care of it quickly--not just to keep everyone else out, but to make sure that it didn't hurt anyone.

...Or cause anymore damage.

In a sudden fit of anger, the youma slapped it's tail on the ground. The earth trembled below it and the ground cracked underneath the sudden pressure.

It had snapped out of its daze.

The youma leaned forward, digging its claws into the ground. Its eyes were focused on the group and it shrieked loudly before thrashing back and forth and charging at the group.

It was fast, but predictable: it was trying to make the group scatter. There was distance enough between the youma and the group that they had plenty of time to move before it actually reached them. It didn't seem to have a specific target, but its eyes had turned red and it seemed to be whining, a shrill, hissing sound, as it ran. The noise was ear splitting--but probably the least of their concerns.

Once the youma was near, with a fevered passion it snapped at the air and tried to catch them within its massive maw.

“It’ll be great ice cream, I promise, Forte. Everything will be okay, you’ll see.” Lysithea flashed a smile at the younger girl and moved towards Adria. “Do you have any sort of attack plans for this? I want to make sure that—“

When the youma moved towards them all, she grabbed the blonde’s hand, pulling him with her as she fled, also trying to push both of the younger senshi out of the way. “Jesus.”

The eternal senshi screwed up her face at the noise, wrinkling her nose as she did so. “Ugh, does this thing have some sort of ultrasonic attack or something? Jeeze.” She glanced at the senshi who had come with Adria. “You okay over there?”

This youma was clearly very, very dangerous…but it still looked so…

…It just…seemed off. But what could she do? It was terrorizing the park, and trying to attack them all, and it was her responsibility to protect Forte and Subra, and protect she would.

“Adria, I have my one attack, and I hope it can at least get the thing away from us a little, so…” She squeezed the super senshi’s hand and sighed. “Let’s give it a whirl, okay?”

Dropping her friend’s hand, she cried out, “Lysithea Untamed Purity!”, Sending her attack flying at the youma, hoping to just get the thing away. It wouldn’t be enough to dust it she was sure…but it might help?

It was definitely going to be one of Those nights. Subra felt the energy before they could see it, big and slimy and gross. But seeing it..."Forte's ri-" Even as the other two senshi had come over, the creature was after them and making the worst noise. She followed the others as they moved, covering her ears and wincing. Owowowowow.

"S-something's weird!" Subra, in her time as a senshi, had never seen a youma act quite like that. "I'm not very strong yet, but my magic can make someone's steps quiet for a little!" Which would help someone stronger get closer, right? With a bunch of them there, it would be hard to track their energy, if that's how youma did things! Which would make it easier for someone who could do something more than her to get close!

Adria gave a quick glance towards the group, grateful that Lysithea had dragged him away. Seeing that everyone was in mostly one piece was reassuring, but he raised his spare hand to rub at his ears. The noise was shrill and piercing and he could feel a splitting headache coming on.

He nodded to Lysithea; his magic wasn't offensive, but he hoped that he could at least buy them a little bit of time.

Lysithea's magic did a number on the youma; the flash of white soared across the ground and barrelled into them. The force alone was enough to send the youma stumbling a few feet to the side. It didn't seem to damage the youma, but it did reveal something interesting.

When Lysithea's magic collided with the youma, it hit hard enough to part the massive mane. It was enough to reveal a band wrapped tightly around the youma's neck, and to display a frantically flashing red light. For a split second, the shrill shriek died away and the light dimmed, but after only a second's reprieve the light was flashing and the electric hum was back.

The youma growled, angry, but it was still stumbling. Its eyes fixated on a distant playground fixture and it claws at the ground as if it were going to charge.

Adria took this opportunity to use his magic.

"Adria Setting Suns!"

Three baseball sized glowing orbs appeared in his hand. Without much caution, he hurled them as far as he could in the youma's direction. Almost immediately the orbs emitted a soft, warm light and began to mimic a setting sun. The lights were relaxing, though not threatening, and seemed far enough away that they were affecting only the youma.

The youma seemed distracted; its misty eyes trailed to the nearest setting sun and it craned its neck closer to look at it.

The lights only served to further illuminate the strange, hissing collar around its neck. Weakly, the youma almost seemed like it was trying to lay down. Tremors ran through its body and its chest heaved; a milky white froth dribbled out from his open mouth, as if the creature was rabid.

"Those won't last forever," he called back, trying to catch sight of the rest of the group and give them the opportunity to make their moves.

Lysithea almost felt guilty. Almost. She had thought her attack had done a good amount of damage to the youma, but then the thing was back up…but…

“What the hell is that?”

Her voice was sharp, concerned, eyes fixed on the strange device that was on the youma’s neck.

“Guys, we need to take out whatever that is.” She had seen enough television shows to know just how bad a blinking something around a neck could be. Maybe it was like…mind control or something…what…what if this wasn’t a youma at all? What if this was something ripped right from…digimon or something where the Negaverse could use…rings to control people and turn them to monsters?

…But…they could do that without rings so maybe that was a dumb thought…
Regardless, it was the only thought that was given at the time so, it was good enough for her! “Adria, that’s a great distraction, you said it’s going away, but can you cast it again when it’s gone? Subra, I do need you to make my steps softer…if I can get closer, perhaps I can use my attack again and shatter the collar?”

It was the best plan she could think of, and she was eager to get it moving.
“We…have to save it. We have to save this youma.”

Elpis grimaced, watching the youma before moving to try staying nearer to Forte and Subra, the Super Senshi frowning and looking to Lysithia.

"Help it? How do we help a youma?" She asked, somewhat surprised. The Super was hesitant to use her attack -- with someone thinking it might be saved... Wait.

"You mean purify it? Don't you need asomeone with that kinda power? I mean, to purify people."

How did that even work? But still, it made her attack a lot less hjelpful.

"Cause if we want to 'help' it I might not want to crack off my magic."

"'s at like... a shock collar or something?" Forte asked, staring at the device once it was safe enough to spend real time watching it. "Why would you use that on something you're just sending out to wreck shi----" She cut herself off with a glance at the pink-haired 'chibi' with them - chibi probably meant a younger kid or something, and she probably shouldn't curse too much around her. "....stuff?"

But regardless as to whether there was something weird going on, it was... still a monster and wasn't it their job to take it out before it hurt someone?

"Uh. Lysithea, no offense but this is turning out to be the weirdest 'training' thing I've ever been on."

Not that she had been on a lot of those - but still, the point stood! Even if they helped it - and a part of her did want to, because shock collars were cruel, monstrous things that were used to disastrous effect upon so many poor dogs - wouldn't they just have to kill it anyway?

"What do we do?"

Save...a youma? That surprised Subra. Weren't they supposed to fight them? But...If there was anything she'd learned from comics and cartoons, it's that sometimes, the bad guys needed help as much as the good guys. "I can do that!" Focusing on Lysithea in her mind, she let out the words in a whisper. "Subra's Silent Paws!" Once the glow had disappeared from Lysi, she turned her attention back to the youma.

"It...really doesn't look okay." She'd seen more than a few youma, and...this one, for all that its aura was still that dark slimy Chaos aura, made her heart hurt a little. Why would anyone do that to anything?

Subra's Silent Paws: Subra whispers the attack name, glowing a light brown as she focuses on a nearby ally (within ten feet, and within sight). The glow transfers to her ally, the illusory form of a lynx settling over her ally before disappearing.

For 30 seconds, Subra's ally's footsteps are silent, making it easier to flank or sneak up on an enemy. Subra cannot use this attack on herself. She can use this attack twice per battle.

Adria glanced between the girls as if he was mishearing them. So far as he knew, there was no saving a youma, but he wasn't going to argue with Lysithea. On one hand, she was the most experienced in the group--at least, if her rank was any indication. On the other hand, it was still a youma and he had no idea what the point was of helping one.

She was his friend though, so he trusted her. She wouldn't intentionally let any harm come to them, and he fully accepted that she probably had her own reasons and information on why this was a good idea.

If she wanted to attack the collar--fine. The ear splitting noise coming from the youma didn't seem to be coming just when it opened its mouth; it was a constant noise and if she thought the collar was the source of it, he was happy to have it destroyed just so he could think clearly.

"I'll use my magic again, but we're going to be right here. If it tries to attack you, we'll try to distract it," he warned. They might not have been able to take it easy on the youma at that point, but it would give Lysithea the chance to try.

Subra had cast her magic and, to make sure Lysithea didn't get caught with a raging beast, he pulled away just slightly so he could better angle his magic.

He summoned his setting suns again, just as the first three sank into the ground and disappeared.

The youma still seemed dazed, even before three fresh, glowing orbs landed just a few feet from its face.

The suns lit up the youma's tired, black eyes. Its eyelids dropped and it's body occasionally trembled. Its ears twitched and then folded low, like a beaten dog. It was in pain already, outside of Lysithea's magic.

It hadn't even bothered to try and get up yet, though its talons were kneading into the ground like a lion preparing to strike. If it was aware of the group next to it, it gave little indication. Once, it's tail twitched behind it, slamming into the ground with a violent tremor, but its attention never strayed from the orbs in its vision.

It seemed entirely oblivious to their scheme, but Adria knew that might last for very long. He held his breath and hoped that Lysithea could get close enough to do what she needed--and he hoped that this wasn't going to be a huge mistake.

Lysithea almost went to tell the brunette that there was no way to purify youma, that she of all people knew that well…but she really wished there was. “When I say help him…I just mean help him out of the pain he’s in…”

Her voice was soft, as her steps were after Subra cast her magic.

As quickly as she could, Lysithea ran over to the exhausted looking youma and placed a hand on it’s mane, giving a gentle stroke. It was far too easy to picture this creature as Evan…scared, tired and all alone.

“Don’t worry, friend. We’re here to help you.”

Her words were soft, and as soothing as she could make them, but she was very glad for the distraction of Adria’s magic, and then let loose her own attack again, aiming it right for the collar, grinning when she heard a loud crack come from the metal, and reaching to yank the thing off of the youma’s neck once and for all.

“There!” With the deed done, she moved quickly away, just in case she had been wrong about this whole thing, and was about to get mauled by giant youma claws as a thank you for her work. It was always possible, youma were still dangerous. Even if they were tired and hurting and scared…

“Let’s hope that worked, guys!”

"Well if we wanted to put it down I could do that." Elpis offered, but she didn't move to prep for any emergency movement to cast her magic until the collar was off. She shifted to brace in case the youma lashed out, and resisted a growl, standing warily. She'd never seen a youma NOT attack, and as such she made ready to lunge to defend Lysithia rapidly, frowning as she watched attentively.

"If it comes at her," Elpis noted to Adria and Forte, as well as Subra, "I'll shoot off an attack, but only if it tries for blood."

She could TRY to be a decent person to it!... Even if she was moderately confused at how to help. Tactics she was decent at -- even aiming for non-lethal ones, but youma? Youma were... Well... Animal and vicious. The senshi wasn't sure her planning could help, but it never hurt to prepare, right?..... Right??
