Well, that, at least, would change soon. After several serious and careful talks with her adopted baby, it had been established that Pear would always love Cinnamel to bits and Cinnamel would like a little brother or sister. It had been terribly important to ensure that the little geist knew that she was not being replaced. Nor would she ever be set aside and forgotten. Fortunately, Cinnamel had been as sweetly sensible as anyone could have wished. The trick now, Pear thought with a little smile, would be to deflect any disappointment Cinnamel might have if Pear was unable to bring a stone home from the bank right away.
“I suppose we’ll find out today,” the hybrid murmured to herself. She had an appointment to speak to one of the stone bank’s representative in an hour. Which meant that she’d better make herself presentable and fast! The walk to the bank would take about twenty minutes. Dashing into her room, she quickly changed clothes and brushed out her hair. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. She would really have to improve her time management skills before she acquired a baby!
After a final checkover, she decided that she was as ready as she was ever going to be and started from the house at a brisk pace. She wanted to impress that mysterious representative. Especially when she knew that she already would have a small strike against her due to her mutations. Still, she was certain that she’d be able to talk Whoever around once she got there. She did so want more children around.
