Who: Anastacia (Ravina Loki) & Ethiriel and Henry (NeonMace)
When: Mid February, early afternoon
Where: Local shopping mall in Durem
Weather: Clear and surprisingly warm for the season
PostPosted: Mon Feb 13, 2017 8:23 pm

"How do you like this material, Eth?"

"Hmm... it is a little coarse, but it feels nice and warm. Perhaps we can find something just a touch softer? I would rather not have irate skin..."

"Easily done!"

Now that the new year had been started, it was time for a new wardrobe for the Raevan. Henry was fond of spoiling Ethiriel at every chance he got, but he'd been so busy with flu season at the hospital that their shopping trip kept getting postponed. Now that things were letting up, the two were able to get some time off together (now that she was volunteering at the same hospital, they were bother rather busy). The Sigel was quite happy about it; it'd been quite some time since the two were able to just hang out outside of work.

A familiar but distant scent managed to tear Ethiriel's attention from the satin undergarments (something Eth had no concept of) she had currently been enjoying. Looking around, she tried to catch the direction it had been coming from but there were too many people in the area to exactly pinpoint.

"Anastacia...?"

Whether the arachnid could catch her voice, goodness knew Henry hadn't, Ethiriel had no idea.

It had been a few days since check up with Iorek and just as long since Anya and Zeke had their little 'talk' following that first event. He had apologized, she had forgiven him, but 'smoothed completely over' wouldn't be exactly right to call things just yet. Worry still gripped Anastacia's heart for her missing friend and despite everything that had happened those few days ago there was just the smallest kernel of something bitter still holding on inside for that.

She could at least say Zeke was trying to make it better. Whether he sensed it or what she couldn't say but he had offered to make that much more amends by taking her out wherever she wanted and footing the bill for whatever she wanted. Hungry for more than just a good meal, Anya agreed. So off they had gone to the mall per her request, right as the afternoon was kicking in. They had come in together but after milling about the fountain for a bit she asked if it was alright if she struck out on her own for awhile. Zeke gave his blessing; it was 'whatever Anya wanted' day today after all. But before she left him he did give her some spending money, smiling that smile of his and saying that if she found something a little more expensive than $60 to give him a call. She said she would and left him at that.

Whew... It was kind of a relief to be away. Ever since the other day it seemed the pair of them hadn't been apart for long. Sure Zeke went to work but they seemed to go by so quickly and then he was home again. Then of course they did share a house. It was hard to avoid the man there and she knew that without needing to try. Sure, being here he was in the building with her but at least there were several thousand square feet of space between him and her for the time being. It was still a relief.

Now that she was off on her own Anya was eager to spend as much time here as possible. Every store would be browsed in, even if it didn't cater to her interests. Her rune flickered as if reminding her that she was truly hungry for something more than just heat and she internally chided it, telling it she would get her fill before the day was out. The place was busy even this early - plenty of opportunity to come across someone sick. Until she crossed paths with one, however, Anya dipped into the first store she came across, which happily for her was right up her alley. From the windows to the back walls the store was laden with shelves and racks of ladies clothing and here and there she even caught a shiny yellow balloon with 'CLEARANCE!' written all over it. She immediately relaxed: this was her element.

Through the circle racks and shelf displays she went, stopping here and there to browse and maybe once or twice snap a photo of something she liked in style but not color of. Why buy when you could just make it at home? Finally she came to rest at a collection of underwear and similar delicates and got to work pulling bras off a circular rack in order to inspect the lacework, longing for the day when she too could wear such things. At least now she could take a photo and use it as a reference while she practiced her own lace.

"Anastacia...?"

In the midst of browing she suddenly heard her name...or at least thought she did. The Frei looked up and then at her sides for the quiet voice before turning around and seeing...two people. At least it could have been - they were blurry and could have been a pair of mannequins for all she knew. But still...that voice was awfully familiar...

"Ethiriel...?" Anya squinted at the pair then edged toward them slowly until they came into view. Sure enough, it was she! "Ethiriel! It's been forever!"

The Widow immediately lit up upon seeing her long-missed acquaintance, floating right over to see her and the man she was with. Between them was another display with panties galore on it, which Ethiriel had been seemingly looking at and kept Anya from seeing her fully. As the spindly femme rounded the rack, she stopped dead in her tracks with her eyes on the Tea Sigel, the lavender pair widening more and more then longer she stared.

No freaking way.

At Anya's confirmation, Ethiriel's eyes lit up and a smile spread across her face. Indeed, it had been forever, and the Sigel was more than pleased to come across her friend once more -- it seemed as if their meetings were few and far between, but to her, it felt like there was little awkwardness; as if they just picked up from where they left off.

But she did feel something just a tad off from the virus Raevan, though she couldn't quite place what it was.

"It is so good to see you!" Ethiriel mused, though she didn't realize just how loaded that phrase was considering the last they spoke. Parting from the unmentionables, she reached her arms out vaguely in Anya's direction -- whether to make contact or just give a friendly show was unknown, though she did know about her friend's lack of interest with physical contact. Before they could even meet up, as if on queue, her arms fell back down until her fingers connected just below her belly button. "I had been wondering how you were doing! I am sorry I had not reached out prior to this meeting... quite a lot has happened."

Again, another loaded phrase.

Henry, who had been busy searching for more clothing, had noticed Ethiriel's speaking but chose to continue with his "work," but after another moment of rummaging through racks, the nurse turned around and his own expression lightened. "Anya! Wow, it's good to see you! You shop here often?"

Not that the Knight or his Raevan did, themselves... Usually only when they both had time and a new wardrobe was in question.

Placing his hand on Ethiriel's shoulder, the man interrupted their conversation for just a moment more. "How about this one, Eth? Soft enough?"

Without even removing her eyes vaguely from Anastacia's direction, the Sigel reached up and felt the sleeve of the blouse to assess it. Ethiriel smiled and nodded, releasing the shirt. "That feels fine, Henry. What color is it?" Not that it ever really mattered; it was just a curiosity.

"It's a soft yellow with sheen!" he cheered. Henry never dressed the Raevan in dark colors like black, only with the exception of browns and deep shades of saturated colors. He wanted her to pop!

"That sounds wonderful," Ethiriel responded, though she hardly remembered which color yellow was. Lifting her chin to address Anya once more, her smile returned to full bloom. "Please, do tell me how you have been, Anastacia!"

The Sigel approached with arms outstretched and in return Anya started to reach one of her own out to Ethiriel before the girl suddenly dropped her own in favor of lacing her fingers together before her. The Widow Frei didn't mind, Ethiriel had no way of knowing she had since been getting more and more comfortable with the idea of touch since their last meeting.

"And you as well!" She floated closer to the Sigel, eying the drastic changes that had been made to her person between then and now. A series of single word questions popped into her mind as she took in the bigger wings, longer torso, and such of the Tea Sigel, nearly agog with each little detail she seemed to find. But she was able to put the vast majority away for now when Ethiriel suddenly apologize, which prompted Anya to shake her head in response.

"No need to apologize! I can see a lot has happened with you, my goodness! You've...grown!" The shock of seeing Ethiriel as a Sigel was unable to be hidden as she said the words but mixed in with that was awe as well. Like Cesc long before her, Sigeldom suited the Tea Frei. She looked more elegant and at home in such a body. Anya felt the pang of jealousy but bit it back. Not here. Not now. No thank you.

"Henry?" The man who had been near Ethiriel was identified as such upon his return with some pretty thing he found on a rack, but damn if Anya couldn't fathom it. When she had first met (and last seen) the nurse he had rivaled Zeke in hair color decisions. Here and now he quite obviously lacked them and somehow it made him almost a stranger to her. "Oh uh...yes it's nice to see you again too. And uh...Sometimes! I just happened in and lo and behold here you and Ethiriel are! Small world!"

Surprise made her stammer just a little, regarding the man's lack of color with wonder. So it was possible for people to forsake garish greens and such for their natural hair color. What a concept. She started to make a roundabout comment when Henry offered Ethiriel a blouse and asked his ward if the material was to her liking. Followed by the Sigel's comment about color, Anya's brows knit together and she looked between the pair with concern.

"You...Can't see the color?" She had been so preoccupied with the Sigel's body that she hadn't looked her in the eyes. Now however she did so and found the cataracts that had marred Ethiriel's vision as a Frei still wholly in tact and present. Ethiriel's pupils were milky. She couldn't see a thing.

And Anya made a slight misstep and faux pas in asking that. Time to backpedal real fast.

"Oh!! I'm sorry! I...I didn't realize. Um...I thought...the surgery...?" She was floundering. Anything she could have said would have just been her digging herself deeper into the hole she now found herself in. Suddenly she wished Zeke would pop out of a display of bras or something just so she could take the spotlight off of herself. Maybe take the chance and run for it.

Yeah, running and maybe burying her head in a trash can sounded good right now.

Both Henry and Ethiriel looked toward Anya at her question -- at least, before Henry passed a slightly worried glance toward his own Raevan. The Sigel in question, however, remained calm and collected, even with a tender smile on her face. There was no discomfort for her now; she had long learned that there was no need for sight and it didn't bother her. She was fine how she was. Lifting her hand between them, Ethiriel offered a soft chuckle, showing good nature. "It is quite alright, Anastacia. There is no need to worry."

Henry, while he hadn't expected a negative reaction exactly, was relieved at his Raevan's elegant response and patted her shoulder before nodding to Anya and returning to his search. This was met with a slight turn of Ethiriel's head and a nod, herself.

"The surgery... well, whatever may be causing my blindness must have been far too strong to stay... corrected, for a lack of better terms. It did come with a bit of a price, however. Once upon a time, I could see slight light and color, but now, all I can see is silver. Everything else is nothing." Despite the subject matter, Ethiriel seemed content with this. Her smile never faltered and her voice didn't waver. "I have made my peace with it, so do not worry. I am happier now than I have ever been," she said, accented with a slight tilt to her head and her smile meeting her eyes.

Eyes snapping open, Ethiriel let out another chuckle and leaned forward just a tad toward Anya. "But please, how have you been? It has been so long, I am glad to know that you are seemingly fine! How are things in your world?"

All thoughts of fleeing left her with a simple raise of Ethiriel's hand. Her words were a balm, even if after applying it there was still a sting of embarrassment lingering beneath. Henry excused himself and Anya was alone again with the Sigel, who went on to explain just what had occurred with the surgery that was supposed to have helped her.

"Oh...I see." There was as much a frown in her voice as their was on her face when the Tea Raevan's words on that topic ended. That was disappointing even if Ethiriel was fine with it. There had been a chance for her to see but then as quickly as it came it had been taken again and Anya knew surgeries were not cheap things either. It wasn't fair, but if she was happy...

"I'm glad to hear it." She was sincere. If Ethiriel had made her peace and was living happily then Anya couldn't really spout off about anything else. She wouldn't dare either - she'd rather not end up repeating what she had just been feeling just moments ago. "If you're happy then I can't be anything but for you too."

Ethiriel was smiling and Anastacia couldn't figure she wasn't being insincere on her end. Truth be told, it was nice to see the Sigel doing that. It suited her.

"It has been a long time, hasn't it?" She felt guilty then, unable to help herself. Anastacia rolled her shoulders forward and wrapped her arms around her bust, gripping her elbows in each hand. "Things are fine! And I'm well." She wouldn't dig into the chewing out she had given Zeke a few days ago, lest she make the conversation awkward. "Winter is always the worst season for me, but I've been trying to make the most of it. Getting out of the house when I can is always a constant relief, especially if I happen upon friends as I have today."

The lilt in her voice near the end of that statement was her way of smiling and it came paired with Anya moving to take up the spot at the Sigel's side. With a lack of silver on her person today, the Widow reached out and briefly touched the other girl on the arm to make her aware of the shift in position.

"I figured today I'd go to the mall and see what was on sale. Winter fashions are on clearance while they bring in the spring and summer lines. A new wardrobe wouldn't be so bad for me, I think."

With Anya's worries all being internal, Ethiriel had already moved on from the topic with little discomfort -- in fact, she was perfectly fine and content. She could hear the shift in the spider's position but little more than that gave away her position at the time. The Sigel did the same, crossing her arms before her, though in a more confident fashion.

"I am so pleased to hear that. Winter is difficult for me, as well... yet so is summer. Spring and Autumn are my preferred seasons, but one can only do so much without leaving the comfort of one's home, I suppose," Ethiriel responded, the delicate smile never leaving her lightly rosy lips. "It is always so uplifting to happen upon friends, I agree! I certainly hadn't been expecting to see you! I am so glad that you are finding time to be out and about, yourself."

The touch to her arm was wholly unexpected and the action was met with raised brows, but again, the smile never left and it almost seemed to excite the silver Raevan. So Anya was opening up, it seemed. This certainly was a step in the right direction, to be sure!

"I would agree," Ethiriel said with a small laugh, her hand idly reaching up to meet Anya's. "That is exactly the reason Henry has brought me out today, as well. He does like to keep me freshly dressed, though I do prefer the more worn out clothing... They are so much more comfortable on skin, wouldn't you agree?"
