 Nina had spent her day preparing herself to start her classes, she had looked for books, she thought she would need, and maybe she got out of hand and got some Gem's that she felt would her her relax and be at peace, though some of them she got she just thought they were pretty and would add some color to her dorm room. Nina sat in a coffee shop, this was a break for her, she had a medium sized bag in the chair next to her, and a small paper bag in front of her. Pulling out one of the gem's out of the paper bag, she held it to the light, seeing if there was any flaws in the stone itself when she seemed happy, she put the stone back in the bag and pulled out another one. Examining the four stones she had gotten, and feeling confident that she didn't need to do anything with them, and that they all had no flaws she stuck them back in the bag, and put the little paper bag back in the medium sized bag. Nina seemed to rummage thru the bag, until she found what she was looking for, and pulled out a book, this book, in particular, was about Gem's, it talked about what they were classified under, and just about anything about Gem's, she thought this was a good book to have even if it was more for a person that made jewelry. Nina read through the book, every now and then her ears twitched as she waited for her coffee, and her muffin, and sometimes she would hear the jingle of the bell over the door when someone would come in or leave, she had her back facing the door so she wouldn't get too distracted from what she was reading. Nina soon finished skimming through the book she was looking at, she would read the rest later, and pulled out another book, this book was talking about the "magical" properties that Gem's did, she didn't believe it but got it anyway so she was informed.

 Alastor yawned over his coffee as he poured over his textbook again, rereading the same paragraph over again for the sixth time now. It getting difficult to make his brain work properly. He had a very advanced grasp of the subject of illusionary magic but that didn't stop his brain from practically melting as he studied the long, drawn out and boring theories that went along with them. He sighed and flipped his book closed with clear distaste before glancing around himself. It was crowded for a late afternoon, but rather boring other than that. He sighed again and turned back to the things scattered across the table in front of him.
With a bored look he watched the spoon on his table, turning it absentmindedly in his coffee as he ran over a list of things that still needed finishing. There was a project that he hadn't even begun yet. He grimaced in displeasure and glanced around the shop again, his eyes coming to rest on a young woman reading up on the magical properties of gems. He'd read the same book last year and had rather enjoyed it. It had helped him increase the realism of his illusions on jewelry. With a bemused grin he stood up and grabbed his things and walked over to sit with her. "Hello."

Nina heard the shuffling of someone around her, and stopped reading her book and looked up as she heard a voice say hello to her, she saw a young guy in front of her a male demon to be exact. Blinking she looked him over, pulling out a little metal bookmark with a fox hanging off of it and put it in the book where she had been reading. "umm.. hello" she was a little flustered needless to say, a boy was coming up to talk to her, she wasn't sure why he was there next to the table that she was sitting at. "umm.. is there something I can help you with?" since he hadn't gone from the table after she said hello she wondered and waited for his reply.

His grin widened a bit as he watched her squirm under his gaze. It was almost impressive how often that was the reaction of one of the Above to a creature from Below. As if they were truly some bogeyman come to collect the souls of the pure and innocent beings of Above. Eventually his grin softened to a friendly smile and he motioned to the empty seat across from her. "Mind if I join you?" Without waiting for a proper answer he sat and motioned to the book in her hand. "I couldn't help notice your choice of literature, enjoying it?" He knew he was being rude and a borderline creep, but it was too much fun to be the cause of such delightful reactions. He relented a bit and leaned back in his chair. "My name is Alastor. Yourself?"

Nina watched his face expression, ears twitching as it moved from a grim to a soft smile, made her feel a little more comfortable since he didn't look as creepy. Shaking her head when he asked her about "No please go right ahead if you wish," Nina kept looking over him and watching him when he motioned to her book she just looked at it. Placing the book down on the table as her food finally arrived, she just shrugged, "it's just some light reading about gem's, I actually want to be a geologist." Nina realized she was blabbing and put the book to her mouth, with the book still up to her mouth, she looked at him when he mentioned his name, "my name is Nina."

Alastor marveled for a moment as her ears moved as she watched him. It was always entertaining to watch those with extra dexterous appendages as they cycled through expressions, their ears and such moving of their own accord in reaction. With a small strike of sudden inspiration he reached into his pocket and pulled out a slightly tattered journal and scribbled a half-formed idea about a moving illusions for cosmetic purposes inside of it before closing it back up. "Nice to meet you Nina." He caught the waiter before he left the table and ordered himself another coffee. "Why geology?" His grin returned as she hid her face behind the book, clearly put off her guard by the conversation and embarrassed by something. While usually compassionate he was still an alpha male at heart and couldn't resist continuing to keep her off balance and shy.

Nina had seen him pull out the book, and one ear went down as the other stood straight up, she kinda wanted to peek at it because of curiosity. "nice to meet you as well Alastor" at this point Nina ears had all but stopped moving for the moment, she watched him as he grabbed the waiter and order his drink. Nina started to eat her food, she was quiet when he asked her why she wanted to be geology, she thought carefully to make sure that he wouldn't think her dream was something funny. "I really like stones, and I feel like they have strong qualities in anything mechanical, and some make nice jewelers."

"You sound very passionate about it. That's a good thing. In this day and age you don't get far without a serious passion." He smiled warmly at her again as the waiter returned with his drink. He took a sip of his drink and cleared his throat. "Any interest in being a jeweler then? Or do you have a different idea?" She had a good head on her shoulders, it was refreshing to see. Most females he met about her age were usually flighty and full of silly dreams and fantasies with little chance of coming true. Or only focused on finding a partner to imbue stones with and start a family. A sure trap in his mind, and a good one at that. He leaned back in his chair thoughtfully, watching her expression. "I work with illusions myself. So I've dabbled a bit with gems and such. Hard to work with but very useful."

Nina was taking bites of her food, though she stopped finished what she was chewing on, to answer Alastor's question "well I am not sure yet, I didn't want to pick until I was done with studying stones, though I sometimes make jewelry on my free time, though I don't think I am skilled at," she stopped to take another bite of her food, not really caring how she looked to Alastor, this was her lunchtime after all and she was hungry, plus it was best to show people what you were really like. Listening to him as he talked, and what he dabbled in Nina stopped eating again, and politely took a drink out of her tea "oh you do illusions, that's neat, what stones have you used?"

Alastor nodded in approval at her hesitancy to choose a life path at the moment. Better to be familiar with all of your options before setting your heart on something. He perked up a bit at her mention of making jewelry and her lack of confidence in her abilities. "They often say that you are your own worst critic. I doubt that you're that bad at it. I'd even like to see some of your work sometime." He paused again for a bit as he finished off his drink and considered how to fully answer her question. "I've worked with most of the basic ones. In fact I've worked with most any jewel imaginable. Though I find that they are easier to work with in their polished state over their raw state."
