Welcome to a Soquili Roleplay Contest!
It seems that all the stirring in the waters has awakened a healer from the depths? Who is this masked man? Only you can decide!

Is he a healer? Is he a warrior? Is he a neutral observer? Why has he answered the call of the seathi school trapped in ice, and what course of action does he take? Maybe he's a hero, or maybe he's just another clown.

Fish are friends, not food!
Username: AstoriaFallen Concept: Screams. Shouts for help. A mixture of terror and hopelessness combined had stirred the water dweller from the depths below. While the ability to fight was beyond him, healing was something that he could do. Arphaxad had been born in a place far from here but had migrated when the cold had hit the lands, hopeful to find a place that was much warmer. Clearly this was not the case. He wasn't entirely sure of his parentage as his mother had left him alone, taking his siblings far away. He was sure it had something to do with the horn upon his head. Apparently it had reminded her of a love long since lost. Early on he had discovered his abilty to heal and had since then opened up a bit of a workshop. In reality he was a traveling healer, at least a water healer. He could provide aide to those in the depths of the ocean. Or even those that ventured to the lakes and streams and prayed for a miracle. He had found a pony or two dying in the shallows and rendered aid to their wounds. If they were not too severe that was. While he couldn't cure death once it had it's hold, he could provide enough aide to get them to a state in which they could pull out of it if they but only had the will to live. He could bring them only so far and the rest they had to do on their own.
Arphaxad never descriminated, he had vowed since a young age all would be welcome to his side for help. No matter the cause. Hearing the cries from above he had come to see what was the problem only to wish he almost hadn't. However his ability to heal was needed and that was more important to him than his personal thoughts on things. He would put the place of these others before his own needs and make sure they were given the proper treatement that they deserved. If I did anything wrong let me know. I wasn't sure exactly how to do this XD

Username: Zakiax Concept: Although Abhay has poor color blinded eyesight it doesn't stop him from trying to do the right thing. He's quite the fearless mer who uses his fins to feel vibrations with in the waters. One day he felt the vibrations of the waters change, instead of the gentle playfulness of the ocean the sudden panic seemed to emanate with in the currents. Rising from his home in the depths of his home with only but himself he investigated.
Finding the commotion on the sea shore he rushed to the scene determined to do anything in his power to help the poor seathi.

Username: Ebonrune Concept: Valiance didn't run strong in Khlalas' blood. He was more of an opportunist, someone who talked a big talk but tried to avoid conflict when he could. However, when he followed the cries for help (warily mind, warily) and found all those stuck in encroaching ice, he knew he had an opportunity. He could become a hero in truth and surely win the affections of a nice mare or two! He would find some kelp or an old rope and fashion a loop in it. He was sure he could get it to the trapped, and they would be grateful and sing his praises far and wide. Yes, perhaps his imagination was running away on him, but his imagination much preferred conjuring ways things could go wrong, so this was quite likely preferable for everyone involved. Fish are friends, not food!
Username: DarkenWoodWolf Concept: You may not want to believe it, but under water, sound carries. It shoots through, a vibration that you can't quite escape. The further you are away, the less you can here, but you can still feel it when something screams in the deep. Or, well, at least Monokeros could. He was down, way down deep in the part of the sea that the light never touched. Slowly blinking open his eyes, he looked up, just up, feeling the vibration down to his bones. There were some sounds too, drifting lazily on the waves, but not loud enough to make any kind of sense. Still, that it was close enough for him to hear anything was a bit of a disappointment. He had wandered down here to be alone, to sleep. He was just so tired. But the vibrations ran through him again, making him swirl around in place, a sense of unease sparking up his spine. True, he did try to hide himself away from the world, from it's chaos and it's cruelty, both natural and not. The world seemed to press in on him, so much pain everywhere, and he was only one healer. And he couldn't even touch the horrors that happened on land. It troubled him, catching him and dragging him down deep into the darkness so that he didn't have to hear the cries for help, the screams of the hurt, sobs of loved ones, so so many, all the time, echoing in his ears. Keros hated it, hated feeling like he had to do something about it, hating that he couldn't. He was only one mer. There was a world full of terror and pain, but only one of him. Still, the cries seemed unending, louder now as he let himself drift higher, the waters turning murky with reflected light so far down. Keros didn't know why he let himself drift back into the land of light, when all he wanted to do was curl up in the dark, but there was something in those cries, something that stirred a part of him left dormant and cold while he slept. With a powerful flick of his tail, he swam up, squinting through the light, blinding after being in the dark so long, until he found the source of the cries. It seemed that a storm had blown in, freezing the shallower waters with living things still trapped inside. Monokeros could not understand why nature was so cruel, but he knew he could do something, had to do something. That was his nature. Swimming slightly away, just enough to get a good, thrashing start, he headed straight for the thinnest piece of ice he could find, ramming it hard with his shoulder, and circling back again. He would not leave anyone to this fate, no matter how much the darkness called to him now. Fish are friends, not food!
Username: SkyDragono Concept: What was that sound? Something was disturbing the water, drawing him from his slumber. Iraski didn’t want to wake up, because then he would remember. The cries still followed him into his dreams. But they weren’t… these sounded…. His ears twitched as he picked up the sounds. It wasn’t his dreams he heard. The crying out was not the sound of those that floated wounded around him; of those that had died in a life he no longer wanted to live in. That is why he slumbered; to forget. But this was another type of cry, and he felt a curiosity stirring within him.
Before that life of death, he had been a giver of life, a mender of cuts for foals, and a friend to almost all he met. He was free for advice, and offered laughs and flirts with a twinkle in his pale green eyes. But the war had shown him a madness he had been immune to in the small village he had lived in. He had seen chaos, and death, and had himself become a killer, and the twinkle and the laughter had died within him. When it was over, he did not want to bring the madness that tainted him to his village, so he never returned, and instead found a place to sleep and to hopefully never wake up.
But those voices called to him, to a place that had been asleep for so very long, and he yearned for that purity that he had once had. That yearning made him raise his head from his bed of kelp, and turn towards the source. The sea should never carry this voice through its waves, and he would do much to stop it. He turned to look at the large kelp bag that held his old healing supplies, and his eyes settled on the hair thong one of his young friends had given him for helping his mother. He hadn’t saved her, but the foal had appreciated the attempt, and had not blamed him. He had worn the hair thong until the day he had died, and it had gone with his healers’ bag. But now, if he was to be a healer… He took the hair thong and braided a lock of his mane and attached it. He grabbed the bag and left the cavern he had been hiding in, and headed out towards the sound that lured him.
He first knew something was off when the water took on an icy edge that he didn’t like. It stung his lungs used to the warmer waters, and took his breath for a moment. And then, he saw the reason for the distress. All manner of sea residents were frozen in a layer of ice, and they were near enough to shore that the land creatures could reach them. And it didn’t look like all of the land creatures were friendly. A vision flashed through his eyes, of those that floated dying around him, and firmed his resolve. He might have to be a soldier again before he could be a healer. He would throw himself on top of the ice to battle the land creatures if he must, to save those innocents trapped in the ice. One thing he knew, there wasn’t going to be another death while he was around. He was either going to battle the ice to free his sea-kin, or he was going to battle the land creatures. Maybe even both. His eyes narrowed, and he prepared for the fight of his life.

Fish are friends, not food!
Username: Dea and #Teddy# Concept: Reima had been out collecting more supplies for healing the mers of the underwater Ahtola Herd. He didn't get to go out much, between his studies as the son of the herd leaders and as the lead healer. He had taken over the role of healer from his mother, so that she could concentrate more on leading the herd. It was tradition in their herd for the eldest child of the leaders to be the head healer, until they had a grown child of their own to pass it down to. His mother had taken over that honor from her mother when she was old enough. Then she had fallen for her bodyguard and they had Reima and his siblings. Once Reima was old enough, he took over the mantle from her.
Since Reima was usually busy with his dual duties, he would ask the gatherers to get the supplies he needed . However, whenever he had some time for himself, he would do the gathering instead. For one thing, it allowed him to explore the world and get to learn about things outside their herd. For another, he knew exactly what he needed and where it could be found. It would seem that it was fortunate he had gone out to do a collection today and had wound up about an hour from where his herd called home. While the lime green stallion had been looking through his bag, trying to figure out what he needed next, he heard what sounded like a commotion near the surface. His head snapped up, listening attentively to determine the cause of all that noise he was hearing. Hearing the sounds of splashing, it occurred to him that there might be some trouble up there. All he had with him was his healer's bag, but surely he would be able to do something to help. Maybe it was his father's need to protect others that he inherited or his mother's desire to help everyone she could, but he was determined to be of assistance.
With confidence shining in his crystal green eyes, he took off swimming in the direction where all the sounds was coming from. He powered through the water as if it was nothing, until he noticed it getting colder the closer he got to the surface. The mer with the blonde mane screeched to a stop, he had to think of a better way to deal with this. He knew that if the water was this cold, then he could only imagine it was worse on the surface. A thoughtful look came into his eyes as he decided to assess the situation a bit of a distance. So he swam parallel of where he heard the splashing for a short distance, before heading up once more. As his regal head broke the surface of the water, a shiver went down his spine at the frigid temperatures. He knew that winter could make things cold, but this was worse than it usually is. However, he pushed it aside, before turning in the direction of the commotion. There he saw a collection of Seathi who was stuck in the ice and all kinds of land Soquili standing on the shore. He could see the hungry gleam in some of their eyes, which he did not like.
Reima worked quickly at formulating a plan in his mind, before getting close enough to communicate. He didn't want to get stuck himself, so he had to be extra cautious in what he did. Once he was close enough, he cleared his throat to get their attention. He could only hope this would work, he didn't want those Seathi to become a meal for the predators.
"Excuse me, I would like to offer some assistance in this dire situation. All of you Seathi, you are going to need to work together to get yourself extracted from this predicament. If you can move at all, try to all slap the ice with your tails and any other part of your body you can. For those on the land who have come to help as well, see if you can combine your weight to carefully work on breaking the ice. When you hear it cracking, quickly retreat back to the shore. If needed, I will use my own tail and body to help,"he called out, making sure his voice was heard by everyone. Once he was sure they had all understood his instructions, he prepared himself for any more guidance or to ram the ice himself if he needed to. He could only hope this plan would be successful, for the sake of all those trapped Soquili, but only time would tell. Quote: "I will be there for anyone who needs me, whether in the sea or on the land."

After much careful consideration, we've decided that the winner of this mer is Dea and #Teddy#! Thank you everyone for making this a tough contest to judge and for making me pull in outside judges. XD <3 I loved the entries. I am also looking forward to seeing Reima possibly put his plan into action. We had fun and hope you all did too!
