Salacia had decided to do a play for her junior project, she needed a freshling who could dance for one of the biggest scenes in the play a striking emotional number. She wanted the best most perfect freshling for the part and she refused to take anyone less. She had sent 12 freshlings away crying so far and she was less than impressed. She wanted perfection, drama, the spark that would make her freshling play a hit. That would be talked about for days!! Some might say that she was being crazy and this wasn't a big deal and it would be fun. Salacia said they were fake news!!

Lilan had been waiting in line along the other freshling that had turned up for the audition. Most of them were all bright eyed and bushy tailed, giggling and bubbling with excitement.... clearly not the right attitude for the job required. It was baffling to the litch that these inferior wanna be dancers were even present, making the already prickly child all the more irritated. Just listening to them babbling on and on with each other, showing no focus. How annoying!
But he felt some sense of relief as one after another came out from behind the door to the studio, tears racing down their cheeks, wails sounding out from their throats. Good. That meant more chances for him, and reassured him that this audition was the real deal. Not for babies who didn't take this seriously. Soon enough he was next in line. With a deep breath he stepped in, walking to position himself before the judge who would be evaluating his performance. He awaited her instructions, poised readily.

Salacia sat curled in a chair in the audience, she looked at Lilan sharply. She wasn't handling these freshlings with kid gloves, she wanted the best for her show and she intended to get the best. "Alright, I hope you're more impressive than the last 12 I don't have time for failure." She said coldly. Then she outlined the dance and what the play was about. Salacia was doing a play called Lime Twist, the story of a little imp orphan sad and weepy just trying to get by. The part she was trying to fill now was that of the orphan who took Lime under his wing Dodge, a scrappy fellow. She described the fast paced dance where Dodge is first introduced.

He was more than used to judgemental looks, but shined under the pressure like this. It was his chance to prove someone wrong. "Of course I will be." Like any of those other kids were anything close to his level of skill. Keeping straight faced as he received the information, he absorbed it in full. With a deep breath, calming his subtly vibrating nerves, the Litch began his performance. He tried to encompass everything she requested and desired, though facial expressions weren't his forte, as he tended to be more serious than anything. But hopefully his movements could help him cover up his faults.

Salacia's expression didn't change, she liked the moxie, but she wouldn't give the freshling any reward till he proved he was the best. Though she hoped he was the best since all the others had sadly disappointed her to the point of depressing. Salacia gave a bland response when she said. "Well, you didn't suck. You will be doing rehearsal for a long time before I deem this cast is ready for opening night." Again Salacia was being way to serious for a freshling play. Salacia looked at the other frightened faces of the freshlings she had chosen for the other parts. "First you will be doing verbal exercises and then you will all be practicing your dance moves before I excuse you all to go home or to the dorms." She said harshly.

Posing properly when his performance was complete, he only broke out of it as she began to speak, quietly catching his breath. While to most her words were harsh, to Lilan they were just what he wanted to hear. He knew he'd done better than the other kids here, without a doubt, and her affirmation of that was enough to solidify it. "Of course. I'll be looking forward to it." He replied. Eyeing the others that were frightened he couldn't help an eye roll at their cowering. They'd have to get used to this sort of thing if they ever wanted to get somewhere as a dancer. This was part of this world. Lilan was more than ready for this challenge.

Salacia went around correcting the freshlings as they did their first rehearsal things, she was harsh and bossy. Totally not what you should be with a freshling play, but if Salaica was going to go something in theatre she was going to do it perfect. She didn't want a fluff piece she wanted a full article about how amazing she was as a director. She didn't care if it took traumatizing a bunch of freshlings to get what she wanted. One stood out as not traumatized as the first rehearsal went on. She looked at the freshling and asked. "What is your name??" She didn't really care about everyone's real names, she called most by their character name.

He listened to each direction and order given, performing each task to the best ability. He too kept serious and focused, not letting fatigue get the best of him, and fighting through any tiredness his muscles may be expressing. When approached by Salacia, Lilan broke from his exercise to address her in return, "my names Lilan." He replied, only pausing to use a clip to push back his hair at the sides.

Salacia nodded taking note of the one freshling she had bothered to learn their name. She then said "You are free to go, make sure you filled out a sheet with your name, character, email and phone number and I will contact the cast and crew with the next rehearsal dates. " Salacia said firmly. "You have earned a break, the rest of you will practice for another hour and then may go as well." Salacia said harshly as she moved across the stage looking harshly at the substandard freshlings but there were only so many theatre freshlings to pick from, so she had to make due.

Ready to receive more instructions on what else he should improve on, or what more he should do, he was surprised when he was given the go ahead to leave. But a twist of pleasure was gained by it, knowing he definitely was more ahead than the others there. With a nod to the experienced dancer, he gave a surprisingly respectful "thank you". He went on to do as she asked, filling out the required paperwork that was simple enough to read and reply to for a freshling. With it all sorted out, he went on to leave the studio, unable to hide the smile that had wormed its way onto his face.
