Hobbies:
Tattooing - Austen has always been a bit of an odd duck, a rebel in her own way, except without the backtalk and the snark. When she was fifteen, she picked up a tattoo gun for the first time at her dad's shop, and from then on was hooked. She's still an apprentice, but tattooing is a major and crucial part of Austen's life that she adores.
Ice skating / roller blading - Nothing professional for Austen, but something she still enjoys because it gives her a liberating sense of freedom. Both ice skating and roller skating are her ways of letting go; whenever she needs to think, whenever she's stressed out, she'll go do either one of these, usually ice skating, and just go around until she calms down. She never wanted to make a career out of them, but they keep her happy and entertained.
Singing - Sometimes this one gets her into trouble because Austen almost never stops singing. She'll sing while she's skating, she'll sing or hum while she's tattooing, she'll whistle while walking the dog. There is almost always some form of music in Austen's life, and her usual customers at the tattoo shop are so used to this by now that it hardly even fazes them anymore.
Virtues:
Passionate - Austen throws herself into everything she does with a vim and vigor to rival most. She will never give less than a hundred percent of effort; when she starts a project, she'll put her all into it, because she is nothing if not utterly devoted to the things she does. She has a lot of passion for a lot of different things; there's no limit to what she'll throw herself into.
Vibrant - With a love of life and a love of everything about life, Austen's dizzying and sometimes chaotic lifestyle has made her bright and eager and excited. She is always sweeping people up into her whirlwind of a personality, always determined to make people feel good about themselves in one way or another.
Loyal - A friend of Austen's is a friend for life. She will be at your side in the middle of the night, bringing you cookies after a breakup. She is that friend who will drive a hundred miles just to say hello and to take you out to breakfast. She is that friend who will find your ex and threaten to cut off - well, certain anatomy parts - if he ever touches you again. There is almost nothing that Austen wouldn't do for her friends.
Flaws:
Flighty - Passionate Austen may be, but it comes with a price. Once that passion burns out, Austen has been known to simply stop a project halfway through once the initial buzz peters off. She is consistently late to things, because she gets distracted or she gets complacent; and while she isn't negative about this, it does get her into a lot of trouble, especially in the case of work (although tattooing is something that Austen takes extremely seriously). This also means that Austen will flit herself from project to project with an intense amount of passion and then whirlwind away and leave it half done for the next exciting thing she finds.
Bad at communication - Austen sometimes forgets. That text she was supposed to send - well, it's still sitting half typed. That phone call she was supposed to make? Well...it's not that big of a deal. The paperwork she intended to submit? It's half done...Austen is a good, loyal person with a lot of really great intentions, but sometimes it just sort of...falls to the wayside because she forgets to actually talk about things.
Reckless - The passion that drives Austen also means that, unfortunately, it's often directed into things it probably shouldn't be. Austen has been known to get carried away, often doing things without thinking about it first; her thoughtlessness has resulted in getting the police called once or twice for trespassing or doing something dumb, though Austen is nothing like a criminal. She simply...doesn't think sometimes.
