After countless tests and a grace period of observation, it was determined that the mysterious stones found in the cave held no corruption within them. In fact, they were ordinary stones like one might find in the Great Cache. Speculations arose as soon as it was announced that the stones were safe. Would they be given to parents to raise? Or sent to the Academy?
Tell us what happens to the stone you are entering for. Is it adopted by one of your NMs/DDs? Has it been sent to the Academy? Write a 250 word minimum response to the above prompt + questions- walk us through the stone's journey to its new home. Use the form below to respond:

Gizem's life started with a rocky start, quite literally found in a cave by a bunch of people their stone was taken to a lab to be studied and observed to see if they were a horrible monster. When Gizem came out of their stone they blinked and looked around at the stark white place that was the facility that Gizem was studied till they became a freshling. When it was determined that they were not a threat. Giz was then dumped off at the orphanage, at this point Gizem didn't really trust anyone having been poked and prodded her whole life. Trusting others wasn't high on her to-do list, so being picked out by this sweet loving family. Still left a bitter taste in her mouth. Why did they pick and take her away without asking her??
From day one of Gizem's life everyone had decided everything for her, decided if she was safe or a danger to society. Decided when she could have a life and then decided that she was going to be part of a family. Gizem crossed her arms and scowled at it all. She didn't have any toys to cuddle. She just had a huge chip on her shoulder because of the hand she had been dealt. Now she had to go to school with freshlings who had grown up normal, with parents and cuddles. While Giz had grown up with everyone waiting to see if she would bite them. Ya real fair, others looking at an infant like they might attack at any moment.
Gizem decided to request from her new family the right to move into the dorms, she needed some space from everyone so she requested a private room. If she was given her request it would be the first time in her life that she would have something that was really her own. She wasn't sure how she felt about the caretakers watching her but it was something she would have to deal with. Least it wasn't her new family trying to shower love on her to make her feel normal. Why would they think that a few days of love would erase a short lifetime of scientists looking at her life she was a possible monster?? Anyone who wanted a spunky perfect freshling needed to look elsewhere. Giz had full intention to be a salty grump, till she saw that there was a reason to be otherwise. "Don't ask me to smile when I see nothing to smile about."

The green soul stone was prodded and poked. It was set on shelves, set on desks, put under magnifying glasses and microscopes. Waves of magic spread over it, and diviners practiced their skill. In the end, it seemed that this stone was like any to be found in the cache—a harmless, blameless child, waiting to be awakened. What its origins might be were a mystery, but the child inside would be an ordinary one, despite its extraordinary origins.
It was not Corrupted. It would be safe to bring this child into the world.
The first question had been answered, then. Now its discoverers could ask the next question: what to do with the stone?
A committee was formed to decide what to do with the green soul stone, as well as its fellows. Almost immediately two factions formed on the committee, a faction that believed that the stones should be handed over to the Academy (“they’ve got the expertise to deal with this sort of thing. They’ve been handling orphaned soul stones for decades, and they’ve got it down to a fine art. No one’s better at this than the Academy is”), and a faction that vehemently disagreed.
The dissenting party’s issue was that almost as soon as the stones had been announced to exist to the public, the committee had been flooded with letters and emails. Some of them were death threats (there are always death threats), some of them were calls to destroy the stones so that they did not awaken into “ravenous cannibal freaks.” Some of them, however, were positive, and it was these positive letters that the dissenting half of the committee were interested in.
Some of these letters were letters of support—“These children have a right to live, I’m glad you found them”—while others went a little further.
“We’ve gotten over a hundred letters asking us if the writers could adopt the stones,” the leader of the dissenting faction, an Imp, said. “People are saying that if the children aren’t corrupted, they would like to adopt them. Heck, some of them are even saying that if the children are corrupted, they’d like to adopt them, to keep them safe and guarantee they don’t get abused!”
The leader of the rest of the committee, a Demon, made a face. “There are orphanages they can go to, Mira. We aren’t an adoption agency.”
The Imp shook her head. “That’s not my point, Frederic. My point is that if there are people who want to adopt these kids, then they should be allowed to be adopted. I grew up at the Academy, and I always wanted a family—I used to dream of someone adopting me. We should give these children that same chance.”
The Demon groaned. “Mira, people can adopt the kids when they’re at the Academy. It’s not impossible—look,” he said. “I grew up at the Academy, too. I came from the cache the same as you did—there’s no one better in Below or Above at raising orphans from stones to adults. The Academy is professional, experienced, and well-trained.”
“And cold,” the Imp said. “Compared to a parents’—”
Another voice from the majority spoke up. “Mira, do you know how many letters like that we get every day? People who’ve never even met the children in question, and yet they desperately want them because they were on TV performing in a choir or something? In the end, we have to remove half of those children from their homes because their adopted parents are abusing them. People think they want ‘novelty’ children, but in the end, those kids are only novelties to them.”
The Demon nodded. “Gena’s exaggerating, but she’s right. Not everyone who writes a letter to us has the best interests of the child in mind.” The Imp shook her head and opened her mouth, but the Demon cut her off. “All in favor of sending the stones to the Academy?”
The votes were in. The Imp glared at the Demon from across the table. The Demon sighed. “Listen, we’ll allow them to be adopted as stones first instead of waiting until they’re infants. But that’s the most we can do for the adopters, Mira. This is in the Academy’s hands now.”

The caretaker looked Takaroa in the eye with an intense gaze that bordered on the terrifying.
Haha, “bordered”? Nope. Not bordering at all. Just straight-up terrifying. The caretaker didn’t blink as they said, “Could you repeat that?”
“I said I’ve been interested in adopting one of the stones since I first heard about them,” Takaroa said nervously. “I, um, I wrote a letter to the committee…” He trailed off.
The caretaker’s expression did not change. “The committee did not pass their paper work down to us. Or rather,” they said conscientiously, “not that part of the paperwork.”
Takaroa nodded and swallowed hard. Ever since he’d first heard about the children, he really had wanted to adopt one of them. He’d wanted to adopt a child…for a while now, actually. Ever since Puhi had adopted, he had wanted to follow suit with her, to have a child of his own. So why these abandoned soul stones, and not someone who had already been awakened?
Maybe it was because Takaroa wanted to hold a baby in his arms, and cuddle that baby? Maybe he wanted to watch them grow and help them take their first steps? Maybe he wanted to be a part of a child’s life, from the very beginning.
It was more than that, though. It was in Takaroa’s strange eyes and his shark-like tail. He had been abandoned as a child because his parent—or parents, more likely—had awakened him in October. He had been cast aside for being a freak, and while these children were no freaks themselves, he wanted to settle the balance. He didn’t want them to be like him—a child, cast adrift from the instant he became a person, loved as a stone but not as a Nightmare. The thought of that stone, lying the darkness of the caves, deep, deep below ground, and that child being brought up from the depths with still no one to love them?
He hated the sense of isolation that gave him. He hated the thought of that child being left alone forever, from before they were awakened and into adulthood.
“I would like to adopt one of the stones,” Takaroa said softly. “So that they awaken into a family. Not everyone got that chance—I didn’t get that chance. But if I can give that chance to someone else? I would be very, very grateful.”
The caretaker looked at him over their glasses and wrote something on a sheet of paper. “I’ll call you back.”
Takaroa gulped and left.
* * *
“They say fish can’t fly,” Takaroa murmured as he took the padded box out of his bag, “but this shark could soar right now.” His eyes were full of tears as he looked at the little green stone, then at his apartment. “That’s the fish tank,” he said. “And over here, that’s our kitchen. And over here,” he carried the box to the spare room, “this room is going to be your room, when you’re ready for it.” He had to sit down. His legs were shaking. But even as he sank to the floor, he kept up a steady stream of babble.
To talk to the stone.
To let it know, even before it awoke, that it was loved--whatever race it would turn out to be. “Welcome home, sweetie.”
[ If it's just like a cache stone, I'd guess Demon or Chimera xD It could be a Naga or a Naiad, though! ]

Username: Delicate Rose Bud - quiz sent! Entering for Stone: #2 Response: It didn't take long for the gossip about the thought-to-be corrupted stones to reach Rose's little flower shop. Word buzzed around like bees bumbling from flower to flower, murmurs about the fate of the little ones still up in the air. The green-winged Fey couldn't help the rising curiosity she felt for the stones, storing each little piece of here-say that flitted into her shop in the back of her mind. She had been lonely all by herself in her little vine-covered bungalow, tending to her garden and talking to her plants. It made her happy when the seeds she planted finally bloomed, but she couldn't help but feel that the void wasn't being filled. Before the discovery of the stones, Rose had been finding herself walking down the baby isles when she should be grocery shopping looking at rockers and cribs and the tiny little clothes. Part of her wanted to believe the hubbub about these particular stones was a sign, and with that she sent in a letter to the committee expressing her wish to adopt one of the stones. It read:
Quote:
To Whom it May Concern,
If I may, I'd like to adopt one of the stones that were found in the mysterious cave. My name is Rose, and I own a flower shop in one of the quieter areas of Asphodel. As a Fey, I've always surrounded myself with flowers; something about watching them grow little by little just pulls at my heart. If I can, I want to take in a little sprout and help them bloom. I've been wanting to start a family of my own, and I couldn't think of anything I'd love more than to give one of the orphaned stones a garden to grow in.
Thank you for your consideration
Adding her contact information to the envelope, she stuck it in the mail and hoped for the best. Not a month had passed when she received a call to come in for an interview to be considered as an adoptive parent. After two more interviews and what felt like ages of waiting, Rose got the call. There were tears in her eyes as she went to pick up the stone -- her stone. She had spent the few days between the call and the pick-up date frantically buying everything she could think of that she might need for the baby when they awoke. She went a little overboard, but it's better to be over prepared than unprepared, right? The moment she held the stone in her hands she knew, she could feel it -- this was what she was missing. The light from a thousand sun stones paled in comparison to the glow she felt, the tiny pink stone finally cradled in her arms.

It had been determined that the stones did not carry corruption, but that hardly meant that four stones found abandoned in a cave wouldn't carry something new. Eorich turned to look at one of the four on his desk, drumming his fingers in a rhythmic pattern as he tried to figure out what he'd advise the Academy do with their new find.
Clearly, if they had a chance at living normal, happy, healthy lives with a minimum of intervention, that would be ideal! But nothing guaranteed that they wouldn't be carrying something new that they hadn't identified, or that they wouldn't have medical concerns of some kind. It was true that they seemed to be safely intact, and there were no obvious faults or cracks, but alchemists had long-since needed licenses to produce soul stones because of how invisible so many defects could be.
Obviously, the risk of some sort of defects meant that the stones should be awakened in medical supervision and that as whatever children may grow up from them grew and aged, that they should live in close proximity to specialists who could help with any troubles they may have.
The best thing would be to make sure they grew up in the public eye, after an event such as had happened on the Hallow's Eve Festival. And that they be homed to people who had not been connected to the event, and that their doctors would not be individuals responsible.
Frankly, the litch thought, if it weren't for the fact that he had two lovely children already, he'd consider volunteering to raise them all. As it was, he could at least pen a letter to indicate his interest, and volunteer to take whichever of them could not be placed into good homes.
[I think that they'll be something entirely new! biggrin Harpies??? (Pfft, yeah, dream on.)]

(( Sent in quiz! Also since I don't know what happens to Arabelle I might be kinda vague or off on something things, so I apologize in advance if I assume something incorrectly! The general thoughts/feelings/motivation should be the same though! ))
Arabelle had heard about the stones through eavesdropping and simple gossip. She had been in and out of facilities since the whole Incident went down, getting tests done to make sure she was okay. She'd joined a few staff members in idle speculations about what would happen to the stones, and was asked questions about what they might expect to find in case of corruption. She wasn't sure exactly what they were looking for, but she wasn't a doctor or a scientist.
Then one day during a checkup she overheard another conversation about the stones. Apparently they had been subjected to every test the scientists could think of, and everything came back negative. There was nothing wrong with the stones that they could detect. Now the question was what to do with them. Give them to the Academy...or put them up for adoption.
Arabelle had softly snorted at that. Sure, there were plenty of benefits to a home life. But only if you found the right people. Arabelle herself was proof that family wasn't always better. Heck, she'd just recently had all of those deep-rooted problems she thought she'd dealt with shoved pretty forcefully back into her face. Not to mention...
She rubbed her left shoulder unconsciously as her mind wandered. It didn't matter if the stones were "normal", that nothing appeared to be wrong. So was Arabelle. Not that anyone believed it. She was still coming in for tests and checks to make sure there would be no lasting harm. She could produce documents proving she was fine. But eyes would always drift to her shoulder, and people always kept their distance. They didn't even realize what they were doing most of the time, but Arabelle was watching and she knew.
These kids, they had the mark of corruption through nothing more than association. They'd be watched and judged their whole lives for things they had no control over. It wasn't their fault, but that was just how the world treated things and people who were "other".
No, the Academy would likely be best. The staff there seemed nice enough, the kids would be around plenty of other youngsters, and they would be together. That counted for something, having someone who you felt you could lean on, who understood the challenges you had to face. If they went for the adoption route there would no doubt be plenty of screening and interviews to make sure they were being placed properly, but would those people actually understand? Not unless they'd gone through something similar themselves. Like Arabelle had...
She pursed her lips, getting the feeling that she'd worked herself to a decision point in her mind without even realizing how she'd gotten there. Okay, sure, she would be able to understand what it was like to have a stigma attached to you over something out of your control. Heck, she'd have gotten that even without the whole mess. Elves seemed to be one of the least popular races out there, though she would readily admit they didn't do themselves any favors with their attitudes. But really, did that qualify her as a caretaker? She had no experience, not even with looking after siblings, a full-time job, no one to help her, and...
And the capacity to love without reserve. Wasn't that the most important part, in the end? To give love, unconditionally, no strings attached? Every parent faced their own challenges in life, but as long as there was love they could muddle through and be alright. Her past was proof that means didn't always make a happy home. And her past may have made her, but it didn't have to define her. It shouldn't have to hold her back. She tightened her grip on her shoulder, feeling the bumps and ridges press into her palm. This wasn't her trying to make up for the past.
This was her trying to give someone a better future.
After her checkup was over she stopped the doctor before they could leave. "Those...stones," she said halting, aware of the doctor's measuring gaze upon her. "If...if they decide to put them up for adoption...I'd be....interested. In adopting one of them." Though she felt a bit flustered, she maintained eye contact. "Could you...let the people in charge know. Please?"

Another day passes and still the same outcome. It seemed that each day was the exact same as before and Dracone was beginning to abhor waking up in the Academy. Their life has not been an easy one being what they were one of the 4 stones found within the cave and after endless "testing" were deemed to be the same as others from the Great Cache.
Their mind glazed over and the thoughts and smells assailed their senses. No choice but to allow the invasion they relaxed and the memories came at a staggering rate bashing against their skull like out of control waves hitting the side of a cliff. Eyes moving quickly and rapid breaths they desperately tried to focus on the small glimmer of light that was always within their eye sight. It was what kept them going. People talked of the "testing" as necessary for the safety of the races but to them it was just a excuse to for the lack of a better word almost torture to satisify their curiousity.
One memory in particular was particularly bad for them and it chose to surface at that moment. First the smell assaulted their nose, that antiseptic harsh smell like someone scrubbed the walls with hospital chemicals. The footsteps of heavy shoes followed by the unmistakable sound of a hoof hitting the cold tile floor. Shivering in their chair they knew who was coming. "Anyone but him, he was especially cruel!" they cried in their mind. Struggling to free themself from the straps that bound him to the chair it just made them bleed and cry out in pain.
Suddenly the door creaked open, that slow loud creak grated on his nerves. The bright light that accompanied it was even more cruel for that was the only time they were allowed to see it, daylight. Usually they were alseep during the light hours and awake for the night hours which is when the "Scientists and Doctors" came to see them and the other three like them. Unknowing what the others went through, they seemed to draw the ire of one particular Scientist and he was here. The shoes slapping against the tile floor alerted them to that fact. Sweat broke out on their brow, eyes grew wide with apprehension, teeth that began to slowly grind against each other, lungs feeling constricted and their heart beating so very fast they were not sure how they did not pass out from the fear.
Their sight was momentairly robbed by the bright light so the only sense open was sound. The loud and heavy steps approached and with each one their fear grew more and more until suddenly the hand was felt on their arm. Without thought they screamed til their voice cracked and throat was raw. A tang hit the air that of copper and they knew they had bit their own tongue in anguish with that came a evil laugh one that sounded appreciative of that like it was a gift. They knew it would be a long night one they would never forget. Hands probbing and prodding, medical instruments being used to gague certain reactions, needles being used to withdraw blood for testing and something new. This night "he"] seemed focused on the eyes. This made Dracone fearful more then ever before. "What made him decide to focus on the eyes?" the thought raced through their mind as a bright light suddenly blinded them and a loud noise popped their ears. Paniacking now their head thrashed back and forth before the thud of a arm was the last thing they remembered before waking up the next morning their eyes burning and bandaged. Fearful of what they could see they remained in their pallet awaiting someone to tend to them. Footsteps could be heard and with that they woke up from their daily nightmare.
Breathing heavily they raised their head and began to look around quickly they were relieved when they saw no one near enough to have overheard their cries of the memory the just endured. Most here did not associate with them out of fear since they was one of the 4 found in a cave although they were no different from the other of the Great Cache their stones just happened to be found somewhere else as if someone hid them from a specific reason. What that reason is remains a mystery, one Dracone would love to solve. Their existence was a mystery, the questions assaulted their mind daily. The who, what, when and mostly why ran through their thoughts it seemed constantly. The only thing they did know was where. Least they had that piece of the puzzle little it did them. Sighing to themselves, they stood and stretched before heading off to the back of the room with the others. Hoping today would be the day one of them would play with them, maybe even become a friend. One was needed so very badly.

The stone was one of 4 that had been exposed to the corruption, but was deemed safe. Physically, the stone was safe, but it held a sort of air that others installed upon it. Sure it was safe physically, but what if the corruption changed something small? What if it altered the stone in a way no one knew how to look for? This air or worry fallowed the child as it grew, older nightmares that knew the child's origins would associate any erratic or odd behavior as the corruption coming through. The small child was able to piece together the truth, through adults talking within earshot, and the whispers of other children, the nightmare found out. From this point the child found themselves second guessing themselves, felt the pressure of everyone's judgement heavy on their shoulders. What if their actions did come from some sort of corruption? What if they were, well, born wrong? As the child was put in the orphanage, they met other children, both kind and mean. It was in the orphanage that the child came across other children, similar children. Apparently there was a strange thing called "mutations" that affected some nightmares. It was a blessing within the curse, an oasis in the middle of the child's alone, alienated life. Life was hard, but the nightmare learned to really appreciate the differences in others. Traits others would find weird or out of place, the nightmare gravitated to. They knew what it was like to be separated against their will, passed off from the very beginning, and they were not going to let another nightmare grow up alone.

A tragedy had struck, leaving in it's wake some stones. No one knew if they were safe, test after test trying to see if they were safe. Each touch was hesitant, like the stone would cause those touching it harm if they were not careful. A conclusion came about that they were in fact safe, the option to adopt the stones coming about. Questions began to come up though still if anyone would be able to take care of the children truly, fears of what had happened playing in everyone's minds. How could anyone truly love these children, even if they had done nothing wrong?
In came a nightmare, her pastel hair fluffed up in their pigtails as normal and her good horn shining in the light that hit it. Her dress ruffled some from the breeze outside as she closed the door, standing there for a moment before turning to the person at the desk. This person was a regular here, always looking for new children to bring in that she felt no one would take in. Recently though she had simply focused on imbuing stones with others, but this particular story had caught her attention. The demon knew she had to at least see if something could be done, knowing the stone would need a parent to take care of them.
Soon the lady found herself sitting in an office, waiting for her interview for the stone. Much to her surprise, she had not been the first to ask to adopt one of the stones, a thought that made her quite happy. There were others who wished to love these precious little ones like she did, but the demon still desired to have one to love. After all, she knew what it was like to have people stare at you, wondering if you would amount to anything or mess something up. She would be the perfect mother, and she had children of all sorts to prove it. Besides, she knew that some of those who were willing to adopt wouldn't be up for the challenge to love the children fully after what had happened, but she was ready.
With the interview now over, the demon got the rare chance to see one of the stones for herself, it's green crystals being dulled out by the darkness around it where it was being held for safe keeping, held behind glass like it was some sort of prisoner or science experiment. The child in that stone deserved better. It deserved to know that no matter what had happened or what it could possibly become, there was someone who would always love it. Even if she wasn't the one to take it home, she knew someone would love it, hopefully with all they had like she knew she could.
"You'll be loved," she promised the stone, giving it a small wave before she was supposed to leave ", I promise, whoever will be your family will love you. You will make it through alright."
[I would think a demon since they are one of the most common, but would be nice if they were a chimera.]

Calling the stone's early existence 'rocky' would be both a joke in poor taste, and intensely accurate. Being found in a cave, the stone had to endure a lot before even starting it's life. Being tested, scrutinized, waiting, and they hadn't even done anything yet. The stones were simply a product of where they came from.
Unfortunately, science wasn't able to tell just what the stones would emerge to be. The media was eating this up. The stones and the mystery around them, the theories that it surrounded the stones. Even after it was determined that the stones were not corrupted, the media seemed to feed the fear. The what if? The 'it could happen again.' People were afraid.
Eventually, it was time to decide what would happen to the stones. There was a debate between people. Should the stones be adopted out? Should they remain at the academy and be raised like others from the great cache? Should they be destroyed? The debates were getting ugly and heated between supporters of each side.
Kingston was so sick of hearing everyone bicker over the stone. No one knew what was best for the stone because no one knew what the stone really was. Kingston decided he would... try. He knew he was under age, but he had to try. He came to visit those in charge of the stones. He would adopt one, he'd adopt them all, if he could!
"I'm sorry, Mr. Kingston. There simply is nothing we can do. You are too young to adopt a stone." The attendant told the grimm.
"You don't understand!" Kingston objected. "These kids... they're already set up for having a rough life. People are afraid of them, of what happened. They aren't going to understand what happened at the Haunted Hallows... At least not right away." He sighed. "But I do. I was there. I watched people I knew and care about get attacked and... change. I know what we had to go through just to... survive that horrible night... I want to protect these kids, even just one, from having anyone blame them for that night. It's just not fair..." He frowned and stared down at his claws. The media really had set these kids up for an unfair life, and the fear mongers weren't going to make it any better. "I just want to protect them..."
"...We all want what's best for the children, believe me." The attendant tried to assure him. "And that includes their living arrangements. We simply can't allow you, still but a child yourself, to adopt a child." The grimm was about to object, but the attendant held up their hand. "I'm sure you would make a wonderful parent... when you're older. But right now, you need to focus on school, on growing up, on yourself. What you went through was quite traumatic, I'm sure..." Everyone had one hell of a night that night, but those who faced attacks were much worse for wear. "I'm sure the children could use a friend like you." Kingston sighed, fighting back tears. He knew this was going to be futile from the start, but he had hoped, somehow, he could have managed to pull this off.
"The children will still go to the academy, right?" Kingston asked softly.
"Well, of course they will. We can't really send them off somewhere else, right?" The attendant tried to give him a reassuring smile. Kingston's ears perked up.
"The big sibling program!" His outburst surprised the attendant. "If they go to the academy, I can become a big sibling... and when I graduate, I... I can adopt them?"
"Well, once you graduate, I can't really see anything that would stop you from adopting one of the children, unl-"
"That's it then! I'll talk to Miss Ava, surely she'd understand. I could mentor and protect them at school until I graduate, and then... then I'll adopt them and give them a real home!" The plan seemed solid to the grimm. The attendant just smiled at him.
"Then I suggest you speak to Miss Ava, and those who head up the big sibling program. Best of luck, Mr. Kingston."
[I think the stone is something new! But it could be a Grimm. Puppies like to bury things. It could also be a Chimera]

Arystar stood in front of the small house that was his new home. A Nightmare had seem him and three other soulstones on the news. She had explained to him that she wanted to help, that she had been unwanted as a child, and she wanted to help him. So he would never feel unwanted. His ear twitched in her direction as she came from the horseless carriage she had picked him up in.
She was tall, and seemed...fluffy. He learned she was called a Kumiho, but her name was Havilah. The most remarkable thing about her was the third eye in the center of her forehead. She didn't speak about it, but he could tell it made her...tense. Anxious. Arystar didn't understand these emotions, nor did he understand her reasons for adopting him.
Come to think of it, Arystar hadn't been especially good at deciphering emotions at the orphanage either. It was why he was bruised even now. His left eye was swollen and blackened from one of the older freshlings who had apparently taken offense at something Arystar had said.
"What do you think?" she asked him. He was quiet for a moment before answering. What was he supposed to say? What did she want to hear?It would do, he supposed. It was a place to live. It looked quiet, which was something he could appreciate.
He took a breath in, stalling for time. "It's nice," he murmured and looked up at Havilah. She beamed down at him and led him inside, telling him everything he would ever need to know about the house. She had even made up a room for her. It was just down the hall from her own and while it had the necessities - a bed, a dresser, a nightstand - there were no decorations.
"I left it so you could decorate it yourself," Havilah told him. "Anything you want, Arystar. Only, if you need nails or screws, let me help you, okay?" She smiled down at him, and Arystar knew she expected some kind of emotion. Which one would be appropriate...
He blinked up at her, eyes empty, but he quirked the corners of his lips up as he had seen other Nightmares do in a pale imitation of a smile. In his quiet voice he murmured, "Thank you, Havilah." It seemed to be the correct response as the older Nightmare simply smiled more.
"I'll let you get settled in on your own, then, while I start dinner. Call me if you need anything!" she said and bent down to give him a quick hug before sweeping out of the room.
[I suspect it might be a new race P: but out of the current races, I suspect Geist, Bakeneko, maybe a Litch?]

The imbued soulstone sat for some time as the authorities debated what to do with it. It was scrutinized to make sure it held no taint of the Corruption- and held for a grace period as well. Then held a bit just to makes sure someone wasn’t coming for it. Once it was clear that there was no one coming forth to claim it, they sent it to the Academy to be awakened with the Great Cache soulstones. However an aura of suspicion still surrounded the stone. It was left with other stones for a time- yet not exactly with them, somewhat separate as a precaution. It was always looked upon with some form of concern, and the stone became steeped in this energy of otherness. For some time it seemed that the stone might not be awakened because of fear and concern. Until one day someone new was sent into the nursery- they were supposed to bring a similar looking stone out to awaken it, and being new made the mistake of grabbing the OTHER stone (as it had come to be called) And it wasn’t realized until after they began awakening the stone that it was the “wrong” one… So it was welcomed into the world in a less than ideal way. It was held, and comforted and cared for as the other infants were- but everyone who held the child knew they held an “Otherness”. As the days passed the caregivers began to realize that because of this otherness the child had a strange affinity for others emotions. Most infants could help a parent feel calm with the aura that surrounded them, but this child could apparently do it for ANYONE it realized was having a tough time. The child was noted as being a fairly low maintenance infant, but there was always something serious about the child. It became clear that suspicions about the child may well have been wrong, perhaps their treatment of it had made it more sensitive, but this was clearly a special child- as are all children, to be cherished.
[I also suspect a new race, or a variant of a race we haven't seen- ie another type of Fae.]
