The day was still fresh in his mind, he'd been out and hunting just fending for himself and no one else - an average day for an hyena that traveled alone. On that day the air had been fresh, the sky brightest of blues and the grass still felt damp beneath his paws. To add to the greatness of such a day he had come across of a group of gazelle, one of their herd was sickly, weak and prepared to collapse at almost any given time - it would be an easy meal. Something he hadn't counted on was another hyena doing exactly the same thing, or so he assumed.
During that day, at some point, he had been given the option of joining a pride that required him to swear to secrecy and from what he gathered based on seeing other outsiders approach that kind of allowance wasn't given to just anyone. it seemed you had to truly be dedicated to the cause and to that he had no issue. Living amongst a number of others meant survival, survival meant quite a decent amount to him and so he didn't need to weigh his options for long. "Of course." Were the words he had spoken, he could have chosen to say a simple yes, but instead he felt relief enough to accept in a more informal manner.
Today he would be heading out with that very hyena, hunting parties were small, but mighty. With their luck he hoped that perhaps another herd containing more weak creatures would show themselves. Those were the easy scenarios, what he couldn't imagine was taking on something any larger than that wouldn't be ideal, but even then maybe they could manage? His thoughts continued down that path as he headed towards the arranged meeting place.
