'Aulani and Jiron Kai finally arrived at the beach before the sunset. They should be able to surf for a few hours and spent the last bit of their visit to the beach watching the sun set before going home to have another meal. Unfortunately she had to go back home for a little bit because she realized that she left her wallet home. There is no way that she can go to the beach and not treat her nephew to something to eat midway in their surfing fun. After parking near the beach, she unlocked the trunk of her truck and removed both surfboards from the bed. Then she locked the trunk and picked up her surfboard as she walked to the beach with her nephew close by. From a distance she can already see the crashing waves and smell the ocean breeze. Truly this feels like home. Once she found a good spot to set up camp, she laid down some towels from her bag on the sand before placing her bag on the towels. Then she removed her dress to reveal the bikini she was wearing underneath it before grabbing the sunscreen from that same bag. After squeezing out some sunscreen onto her hand and rubbing them together, she began putting the sunscreen on Jiron.

"Remember to do your warmups before going out to the water keiki. The last thing you want to do is pull a muscle and hurt yourself."
Kai had been staring out of the window of the truck they were riding in. Finally they were going to get to the beach. He had been well distracted by the lady in the club, but now he could feel the eager to get onto a surfboard again. In the short time he had been in Roatoa he had surely grown fond of the sport already. When he saw the beach show up on the side of the road he smiled widely. "Look aunt 'Aulani, there is the beach! We're almost there!" he called, completely unnecessarily, surely she had seen it already too but the boy couldn't help himself.
Once they arrived he lost no time in opening the door and jumping out and around the truck. He quickly took off his clothes and threw them on a pile, till he was only dressed in his trunks for the surfing. He was all ready to go ahead and rush into the water with his board, but he was stopped for sun screen. That was Kai's least favorite part of being on the beach and he sure tried to get away as soon as he could. The boy just wanted to surf.
It would seem he almost forgot something else though of which his aunt kindly reminded him. However this time he didn't struggle to get away as fast as he could as it was part of the whole surfing experience. He had forgotten it in his enthusiasm but even he had learned already in his training that this was important. Kai nodded and placed down his board once more before he joined his aunt in warming up for their hours of fun.
'Aulani knew that her nephew can be impatient when it comes to surfing. The excitement he displayed as they neared the beach and got out of the truck clearly demonstrated this. However she can't let her nephew go out there and risk getting sunburned so she has to make sure that he is applied with plenty of sunscreen. After applying enough sunscreen on him to make her feel comfortable about him being out in the sun, she also applied the sunscreen on herself. She didn't do as much on herself like she did Kai since her skin is naturally tan. Any tanning of her skin usually isn't so noticeable depending on how much exposure to the sun she receives. After putting on the sunscreen, she began doing a dynamic warmup exercise that consisted of following: ankle circles (rolling each foot in clockwise and counter clockwise motions), glute-4 stretch (standing tall, placing an ankle on the opposite knee and slowly sitting back with the hips until you feel a stretch in the glutes), reverse lunches with rotation, lying t-twists, etc. These exercises are meant to increase optimal performance. Finally with all these exercises done, she picked up her surfboard and said to Kai,

"Be careful out there keiki. The ocean is a mischievous creature who loves to play tricks on unsuspecting travelers, including us. When you find the right wave, don't fight it. Ride with it."
After finally being released and getting ready for the warm up, Kai rubbed his arms over his face against the feeling of the sun screen that he disliked so much. Of course since his arms were done as well it didn't make much difference and he sighed a bit. He never liked the smell of sunscreen either. He wiggled his nose a bit before he decided to ignore it and quickly followed his aunt's example for warming up, at least the movements he could follow. When he tried some of the more complicated ones he just managed to fall over, With a giggle he got up after the warming up and he once more ran off, grabbing his board and running to the water. He only stopped when he heard his aunt's warning and nodded to her. "I will be careful!" he called back. Of course the latter was not needed to say, he already learned to ride with it, but he just smiled and soon after he swam out to the deeper part of the sea and waited for a wave to come to them.
'Aulani did her best to keep all the preparations to surf at a minimal, including the sunscreen and the warmups, knowing that her nephew really wanted to surf as soon as possible. Finally the two of them made their way to the water with Kai having the early lead since he was the first to rush in. She has confidence in him that he will perform well. After all, he was taught by the best. Once she was deep enough in the water, she boarded her surfboard and swam out a bit further out before sitting on the board and watched the ocean for a good wave. When she noticed one specific large wave coming her way, she grinned widely and began swimming back towards the shore. At the right time she stood on her board while keeping her knees bent and began riding the wave. Boy did she really need this as a celebration to getting a new job. In the midst of her surfing, she called out to Kai,

Kai sat on his board as he waited for that wave he could try and ride. He had learned enough to start exploring and improving on his own. That was how to surf, how to best fall and how to act when worse things happened. Thankfully the latter was rather rare. When the big wave came, the boy's face lit up and he followed his aunt's example. Like her he managed to stand on the board, be it less steadfast than her, and managed to ride with the wave for a while. When his aunt called out to him however and he allowed just that sliver of distraction he lost his balance and try as he might he couldn't avoid falling off his board. As taught he allowed the wave to pass him before he surfaced quickly enough and coughed a bit before he sighed and pulled a face. Both for the taste of the salty water as well as the fact he hadn't made it the whole way. He shook his head though and just repeated the process to try again.
