[3/24/2016 3:04:31 PM] Jinx: Samara lay sprawled on the bed in her new dorm room, staring up at the ceiling. She still needed to unpack the box of personal belongings she'd brought with her, but she was too busy worrying to think about it right now. The culmination of months of planning was upon her, and she was trying to decide what her next move would be. This was to be her ultimate heist, stealing back her sister.
Samara was only a freshling when her sister had disappeared, so she was a little fuzzy on some of the details. She remembered being super excited for the new baby and would stare at the little stone with frequent longing, talking to it about all the fun things they'd do when they finally came out. Their awakening had come as a complete surprise to Samara. She'd come home after playing one day and found everyone gathered around the infant, and had run over to see for herself. Her parents had always seemed very reluctant to let near the baby. There was a general air of unhappiness around them that Samara picked up on, and attributed to herself. Maybe they were afraid she might not be gentle enough. Well Samara was a very active and energetic child, so it seemed like a perfectly valid concern to her.
Then on day, Samara came home and her baby sibling was gone. Her parents told her the baby had to leave, that they just weren't right for the family and they went somewhere else. As a freshling Samara hadn't understood. She'd even blamed herself for a while, thinking she had done something wrong and that's why the baby had to go away. It wasn't until years later that she learned the truth from Grammy.
Grammy was Samara's favorite person in the world. She was her great-grandma on her dad's side, and practically raised her. Grammy had been the one to console Samara when the baby was gone, and had eventually convinced the little freshling that it wasn't her fault. She wouldn't ever say anything, but she'd get tight lines around her mouth and eyes and she would start to fade a little, all indicators that she didn't quite approve of something. It wasn't until Samara was almost a junior that she spoke up.
The baby was an accidental awakening, an October birth that came out mutated. Samara had never really noticed anything wrong with her sibling, but apparently there were things about them that weren't natural. Grammy said their eyes were the most disconcerting and obvious. Her parents had been repulsed. Grammy had tried to argue to keep the baby and raise them anyway. They were here and healthy and that was all that mattered. But Samara's parents couldn't do it, and didn't want Samara to get close to the baby, like they were afraid mutations could catch. They had given the infant away to an orphanage without even naming them. Grammy had been very upset with Samara's parents (and still was), but got in contact with the orphanage and asked for updates. She'd learned that the baby, whom the orphanage had named Anara, was never adopted, and had been sent to the Academy once she was old enough. They sent little updates here and there, but most were the same. Anara seemed a bit troubled, but wouldn't talk about it. No one seemed interested in adopting her.
Samara had been all kinds of upset to learn about this, and it had taken a lot of reassurances from Grammy to keep her from running up to her parents and demanding answers from them. They had to keep it secret though, at least for now. Together, they formed a plan. It wouldn't do any good to bring Anara back here, so Samara would go out there to be with Anara! They already knew where she was, and Grammy was able to tell Samara what she looked like. Some things might have changed as Anara grew, but the eyes were the most important thing to look out for. It had taken a bit of arguing on Samara's part to get her parents to let her to go the Academy, but with Grammy backing her up they wore them down.
Now here Samara was, at the Academy with a box full of belongings and a head full of Grammy's wisdom. They'd managed to narrow down where Samara should look. The orphanage was able to tell them that Anara was a junior now, and in Eldritch. Samara had thought about trying to get into the same house, but the Academy people had been very insistent that she'd do better in Arkham, and it wasn't like different houses didn't have classes together or were forbidden from interacting with each other.
The question was, what was Samara's next move? Run up to Anara and claim they were sisters? There was no real way to prove that, and Anara probably wouldn't feel immediately charitable towards her family anyway. She could always just befriend her and let Anara believe when she called her sister it meant a friend so close they were akin to family, but Samara felt like Anara deserved better than that. She should know that she had family out there who loved her and wanted to know her and be around her. Samara sighed and sat up, looking over at her box and feeling no urge to mess with it right now. This had been something that Grammy hadn't been able to help her with. Samara would just have to figure it out on her own and hope she was clever enough to keep her sister from slipping through her fingers a second time.

[3/30/2016 7:23:28 PM] Aps: Anara had been, for the most part, completely unaware of the things that had transpired to bring her sister to the Academy. Actually, for the most part, she had been completely unaware that she had had a sister in the first place or that any of her family still thought of her, much less wanted her to exist. So she had spent most of her life resenting them for what they had done to her. However, she was getting used to being alone and not relying on anyone. Her differences had made most people blanch at the first sight of her. It hadn't helped that her mutations had led to it being nearly impossible to have any sort of social interactions, making most people think she strange and not worth their effort. It was fine. That's what she'd keep telling herself. She didn't need her family, she didn't need anyone. She'd be stronger for it, without anyone else's help.
So when classes had let out, she had had about all the social she wanted for the rest of the week. She was thankful that it was nearly the weekend and that she could hide in her room without anyone bothering her. She had been lucky that she hadn't had a roommate yet and so her room was relatively quiet, but she was planning on purchasing some noise canceling headphones just in case any of her neighbors weren't as keen on being quiet. So she gathered up a jacket and her wallet and planned on taking a short trip to the store. Thankfully she was able to swipe a couple of bills from a teacher who wasn't lucky enough to keep a tighter watch on their wallet. Their fault, honestly, you'd think that a teacher would know better with all the Geist at the school.

[3/30/2016 7:40:32 PM] Jinx: Samara had decided that she wasn't in the mood to unpack, but she didn't want to just sit around either. She'd only ever lived in her village her entire life, so it seemed like a good opportunity to explore the area a bit. She was known for causing mischief, which was a good thing for a Geist. Certainly it was never any sort of bad mischief, and she almost always got away without being caught. Her reputation at home was largely rumor-based due to lack of evidence, but that was how it should be in her mind.
She explored the Academy grounds for a while, figuring that's where most of her time would be, but that soon lost appeal. She was also a bit afraid she'd run into Anara, and she had no clue what she'd say yet. Since juniors were allowed off school grounds, she decided to do some exploration around town for a bit. If she was going to spend several years here, like heck was she never leaving the Academy walls!
She had a bit of cash on her, though it would be easy for her to swipe some more here and there if she needed it. Or she could ask her parents, but where was the fun in that? It wasn't like she took much anyway, just little bits at a time and rarely from the same people. Unless they could afford it. She was wandering the streets, looking for a store that might catch her eye. An electronics place made her pause. The window displays had that sleek, futuristic look that would have made technophiles go all weak-kneed and doe-eyed, with a variety of shiny screens and color casings arranged in interesting patterns. It was worth looking into, maybe they had cute accessories.
Samara ducked into the store, giving the interior a quick scan, and halted in her tracks. The floor plan was pretty open, with low, four-sided shelves in the middle of the floor touting various products, and the bulk of the merchandise on display against the walls. She wasn't the only shopper, but that wasn't what startled her. There was another Geist, pretty short and probably Samara's age. Her coloring was very similar to Samara's....
'Settle down,' Samara thought. 'You're panicking over nothing. How weird would it be if that was actually Anara? No way. Play it cool.' She gripped the folds of her dress tightly and released them. Drifting over to one of the walls to examine the protective cases for phones, Samara tried to shoot covert glances at the other Geist from the corner of her eye, still internally chastising herself at how jumpy she was acting.

[4/13/2016 12:47:49 PM] Aps: When Anara arrived, she kept her hoodie close around her face to hide her larger-than-usual ears. They tended to give people a start, and she didn't feel like monitoring all the gasps she was already going to get from her eyes coupled with that. For the most part, she kept her eyes downcast, trying to avoid any onlookers from seeing them. She knew it wasn't going to work in all cases, but it might on a few.
She walked toward a display with some headphones and had to go through quite a few to find ones that might actually fit around her ears and do the job she was looking for. She frowned when she turned the package over and saw the price. She apparently didn't have as much as she thought she did. For a brief moment she thought about swiping them, but when she saw a particular Geist eyeing her, she thought better of it and put the item back. She growled to herself, wondering just why the person was shooting glances at her every couple of seconds, were they that terrified of her eyes? Great... that was just what she needed. Huffing slightly, she stuffed her hands back into her hoodie and walked briskly from the store. She'd have to find more money, and maybe come back when the stranger wasn't there.

[4/20/2016 9:52:09 PM] Jinx: Samara felt a slight surge of panic when the other junior left the store. Without even really thinking about it, she set down the products she was looking at and followed suit. As she stepped outside her brain began to work again. Okay, so she'd seen a stranger who looked like she could potentially be Anara. She still wasn't sure, and she didn't have a plan exactly. She didn't want to lose sight of the other though. What if they lived in the area but didn't go to the Academy? Or what if they were just visiting and didn't live here at all? She had to be sure the stranger wasn't her sister before she let them walk off.
She didn't immediately take right off after them though. She glanced around, making it look like she was people-watching or looking into the store windows. She kept her pace set to match theirs, but tried to keep her walk casual. She was still practicing the art of sneaking in plain sight, so she hoped she was doing okay; it was a lot harder to blend in than it was to hide. Not that she didn't consider hiding, but her abilities as a Geist weren't up to par for what this situation required of her. Plus on the off-chance the other junior twigged to the fact that they were being followed, they would only get even more suspicious to see Samara acting like she was trying to hide.

Perhaps she was completely wrong. For whatever reason she had spotted the stranger a few paces behind her, trying to blend in with the crowd. Were they following her? To make sure her hunch was right, Anara swiftly passed another store and turned down the small alleyway that was to the side of it and made a path toward the park where she knew there would be lots of people. Sure enough, when she cast a look over her shoulder she wasn't all that surprised to see the Geist girl on her tail.
She stopped in her tracks, weighing her options. The girl could be trying to hurt her, but in a bigger crowd like this it was unlikely that she'd be able to do so. And even on the chance that she was, Anara could handle herself in a fight if she needed to. It wasn't like the girl weighed that much more than she did by the looks of it. Alright, so honesty then. Anara turned, her triple irises now confronting the girl who had been stalking her. "Why are you following me?" Okay, so tact never was her strongest suit.
