 Yinzhen wanted to whack her head on a wall, she sat in her language arts class and couldn't believe her luck, why was it what you want to be when you're grown up haunted her?? She was pretty sure she knew what she wanted to do, but what if she was wrong!! What is she made the wrong choice!! Then to make it even more fun Yin had to find a partner to interview to see what they wanted to be when they grew up. Yin did bang her head on her desk another chance for her to look like a fool in front of other freshlings. Wonderful, fabulous. She blinked in and out without control as she panicked about the project, maybe if she could figure out how to control her blinking, she could just blink out and hide under her bed till she was 21. Yin sighed laying her head down on her desk, she would look around for someone to pair up with in a moment. She really would.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
What a dumb question. Why was every adult so obsessed with getting Freshlings to know this? Cyota leaned back in their chair, a pencil perched on their upper lip as they stared at the ceiling. It sucked! You could say anything, like you wanted to be a verspercat trainer for a circus or a model or a dark wizard preforming blood magic. They'd probably just nod and pat you on the head. Ugh.
Sitting up, Cyota surveyed the room. Well, everyone partnered quickly, but the Litch was left with slim pickings. Right in front of them was a hybrid, a geist-fey it looked like, who was blinking in and out of sight as they groaned. At least someone else was having a tough time. Hopping up from their chair, they approached the fey-geist.
"Hey! I'm Cyota. Uh..." Looking down at the paper, they read the question from the sheet slowly, "Ask your partner... what they want to be... when they grow up. Write at least a para -- Oh. That's just requirements. Anyway."
Oops, a yawn slipped out, but Cyota kept speaking, "Whaaat do you wanna be when you grow up?"

Yinzhen frowned and turned her head as she kept blinking in and out as she was having her panic attack. The blinking slowly stopped as she focused on what appeared to be a litch talking at her. Why were they talking at her. Oh yea the project required pairing up and Yin was having a spaz panic attack and was about to look like a fool in front of a litch perfect just perfect. She took a deep breath and said. "Umm well first of all, I'm Yinzhen.. as for what I want to be when I grow up, I think I want to be a school counselor when I grow up.. because I want to help other freshlings when I grow up to figure out what they want to be.." She didn't want to add that she was often freaking out wondering if her choice was right or maybe she was making a huge mistake and would ruin her whole life. "What about you??" Yin asked as she got her paper ready.

Cyota started to scribble down the response, though their ears heard 'Engine' and not Yinzhen. So Engine wanted to be a school coucelor? That was pretty thoughtful, not that the Litch said anything to that extent. They only nodded and hummed.
"Me? Oh, I dunno." Shrugging, the Litch grabbed a chair beside Yinzhen and sat down, "Hey, if you wanna be a school councelor and all, why don't you practice and help me?"

Yin perked up at that, she sat up straight and then said. "Umm ok, well what do you like to do?? What makes you happy??" Yin said deciding to start with simple questions to see if she could help Cyota figure out what they wanted to be when they grew up. Yin had accidently helped some other freshlings, but she really hadn't done that on purpose. So it was a good idea to try again and see if she could do this when she was actually trying. It wasn't easy figuring out where your life was suppose to go or where you hoped it would do when you were a kid, unless you dreamed of being a firefighter or a ballerina.

What did they like to do? What made them happy? Cyota pondered the question, scratching at their cheek as they toyed with the many ways to answer it, "I... Like the explore! I like the stars and galaxy. I like laughing. I think..." The litch stared at the ceiling, their face screwed up in a frown as they contemplated, "Yeah, that's about it. Stars. Galaxy... All of that is my favorite thing in the whole world."
Even saying it, Cyota couldn't come up with a solid idea for what they wanted to be when they grew up. A space explorer? Was that even a thing? IT didn't sound like a thing, but Cyota figured if anyone knew, Yinzhen might.

Yin listened to Cyota speaking, humm she already had one idea. "What about being an astronomer? Study the stars? Or maybe someday you could explore the stars?? Wonder how you could get up there.." Yinzhen quietly mused. "If you do decide you like to laugh, maybe you could be a comedian or maybe you could be the manager to the comedian??" Yin suggested as she kicked her feet sitting in her chair trying to think of other things that Cyota could do with the things they were interested in. She wondered if this would help them, or if it would make Cyota more confused.

An Astronomer?
"What's an... Astronomer? They study stars? But isn't like, everything about stars and space already known?" Cyota tilted their head, pondering the new proposition. It sounded fun if they were honest. The stars always fascinated the Litch. Becoming an explorer of the stars...
"Do you think I could become a star comedian? I make space jokes!" Cyota grinned fro ear to ear, their eyes twinkling, "Okay, let's give this a shot. Yinzhen, why are black holes never invited to parties?"
The answer was already making Cyota crack up, though they held it in by biting their lip. Soft, stifled giggles kept leaking out, so they finally resorted to covering their mouth with their hand.

Yin giggled "Of course not, there is lots of space, and they gotta improve magic and technology so we can see more and go to the next place. Maybe you could help invent stuff to get to the next step??" Yin suggested "There is always something else to discover, even with jungles, oceans, lakes, you never know if you missed something exploring, so you gotta keep exploring. My mommy told me about a fish they didn't know about that was found, so you just never know what you'll find if you keep looking." Yinzhen giggled and asked "Ok why??" She waited to hear the rest of the joke.

"Because they SUCK all the life from the party!" Cyota began to giggle wildly, their arms flapping at their sides as the pent up laughter blasted out. Thankfully, the room was already abuzz with conversation, otherwise the outburst would have gotten them written up. Calming down, Cyota sighed and wiped at her eyes, "Thanks for talking to me. I think you'll be a super awesome councelor!
"I'm going to be an Astronomer then! I want to study the stars and learn all about space and and exploration and and and cool things that we've never seen before!"

Yinzhen couldn't help but laugh and she said. "That was clever, I think you could be a space comedian if that's what you want to be." Yin smiled brightly and said "Thank you so much Cyota you've helped me a lot to." Yin said, she didn't feel like she could do it before she had met Cyota and helped her see that she could be what she wanted to be just like Cyota could be what they wanted to be. "I bet you'll be great at whatever you choose to go after." As the bell rang, she smiled again and gathered her things "Thank you Cyota." (Woot now I just need to write up Yinzhen's solo!! )
