January 2017 Wishing Star
There’s a strange, bright star over the Kawani lands. It’s a rare sight, and legend has it that the star can grant a few select Soquili a special wish. Head up to the top of the hill, place a small offering on the altar, and make your wish. Is it a wish for love, a child, a friend or even someone long lost? Think carefully about your wish, however, as you only get to make one!

You may enter for, at most: 1 Soquili Slot (anything but Loyal Companion) and 1 Familiar Slot (Loyal Companion) if you have not hit your monthly cap.

To remind users of an existing rule: please check to make sure you have been added to the list correctly. We will do our best to keep the list accurate and updated frequently, but mistakes do happen, especially when there's a high number of entrants. With this rule, we will no longer be rolling an additional slot for missed people (exceptions may be made depending on the circumstance, but they are just that: exceptions, and not the rule).
Updated! Skinwalkers, whether cursed or pure, cannot enter Wishing Stars unless they are charmed. Skinwalker entries will not result in skinwalker soquili granted from the wishing star.
Prizes in Wishing Stars are considered semi-customs; thus, colorists are free to stream them at any time. If you're getting baskets and want to be surprised, please keep that in mind!
All children granted will be considered a special gift from the Star and labeled as a 1st Gen Mockbreeding Child of the couple. However, you may still throwback to their mock parents' bloodline when entering them in normal breeding slots, even if it's impossible for them to be related by blood (eg. the seathi Quiyahuatl can throwback to his usdia mother and his angeni father).
Wishing Stars aren't breedings OOC, and colorists have more free reign with them. Additional breeds and traits may be added that the parents do not possess. Otherwise, all edit levels, breeds (including purebred super rares), and mutant traits can pass, unless otherwise stated.
You may use another person's pet or couple so long as you have their permission. (This does not apply in the True Friend and Loyal Companion category.) This permission can be in the form of a lifemate agreement between their pet and yours, or a post in the Reference and Mockbreeding Permissions thread.
Forms may be edited at any time. (However, if you post an incomplete form, they will not be added to the list, and we will not be going back to check.) You must void your original post and repost the form ONLY if you modify the owner(s) involved or change category.
As usual, the procedure for this event will be: edited rolls and CCs > 24-hour window after the last edited roll for last-minute edited CCs > unedited rolls and CCs. |

We're trying something new, and raising the cap from two baskets to three for the Miracle Baby and Extra Gift category. It is our hope that this will help share the family love, and make it a little easier for poly pairs. (Poly pairs with 4+ owners will still have to try separately, though; there's only so many children we can guarantee per slot.)
To be clear, the number of baskets will depend on the number of usernames listed (so if someone enters a self-pair and lists only themselves, it will result in one basket; there will be no chance for a second or third. However, if two people enter a pair and they list themselves, as well as a friend, all three will get baskets). All other categories remain the same, with one prize per.
Quote: Example:Chicken (Ryuu) x Butter (Lolly) Ryuu and Lolly plan to enter together, as well as with their best friend, Yuki. Usernames: Ryuu, Lolly, Yuki None of the listed three usernames may enter any other Soquili slot, including Yuki. It does not matter that Yuki owns none of the parents. Yuki is only allowed one opportunity to win a Soquili, like everyone else. However, they are all free to enter Familiar slots separately.
Limitations:
One header = one spot on the list, regardless of the number of users involved.
Less slots (though, ultimately, roughly the same amount of pets given out).

Spirit Baby New! Formerly miracle baby slot, this wish can be wished by either potential parent of a couple that enter spirited breeding slots - i.e. they were previously not allowed to enter breedings (same sex couples, poly groups, mini x full etc'). If your wish is granted, the couple might find a special basket near their home one day.

Restrictions: This category is for pairs who enter 'spirited' slots for breedings. They include:
- Homosexual couples.

Alejandra pulls out a few feathers she has tucked away on the inside of her scarf. There are eight that she looks at, seven with a lock of black hair like hers carefully wrapped around each, in rich jewel tones, and one, glimmered like a diamond, with a lock of platinum hair wrapped around it. If she could part with them all, she would leave each, in hopes that all her sisters would come visit her. Each feather matched the coat of the coordinating sister, and had a lock of their hair. She looked at each, imagining which one might be the most likely to hear the call of the wishing star, and come to the Kawani lands. Glimmering tears fell from her golden eyes. How could she choose but one? She loved them all so much. The closest two sisters in age might be a wise choice, she decided as she sniffed, and stopped crying. Tucking six of the feathers back in her scarf for safe keeping, she gazed down at the two left on the ground: one of deep emerald green, and another, of the brightest sapphire blue. With a sigh, and without too much more thought, she picked the blue one up, and tucked it back away. The emotion of missing her family, that had been gone from her side for so many years, is an exhausting feeling. It sucks the life out of you, and tires your soul. Alejandra is strong though. Closing her eyes, and taking a deep breath, she gingerly picks up the emerald feather, and carries it over to the pile of trinkets and baubles that other soquili have left for the wishing star.
Short IC Response:
Alejandra carefully stares at the offerings to the wishing star, and places her feather down in a place where it won't be crushed. The lock of black hair shimmers in the moonlight, and does not uncurl from hugging to the feather. One could tell care was placed when wrapping the hair around the feather. Ale smiled with utmost warmth, and gazed up to the sky. "How do you do?" she said with a dip of her paw, and a bow of her head in a curtsy. "I humbly thank you for the opportunity to share my wish with you, amongst all these equally as important wishes before me." she said with sincerity. Even though her wish was her own, it did not devalue all the wishes of others. If everyone could get their wish granted, that would be the most wonderful thing to her. "I don't want to ask for much, in case there are more important wishes here for you to grant. i do miss my sisters, ever so greatly." she said while slowly nodding her head from side to side. She takes a pause to close her eyes, with her head raised to the sky. A chill takes over her. "Please do your best to fill the needs of the Soquili in this land." she says, still unable to ask for anything for herself, and not wanting to be selfish. She turns and begins to walk away. When she looks back to the stars, her cheeks are streamed with tears. In a soft voice, she calls back to the star: "Let my sisters know I love them." and with that, she leaves.

Well here he was. Thane looked from the top of the hill at his surroundings, feeling foolish. Cato urged him, as did Bernadette that they'd had their desires heard before on this very spot when a night like this approached. Rohen was proof of that. Still, Thane questioned it. Of course he believed in the Gods. But that did not mean they would answer his prayers any sooner than they had on any other night. Taking a deep breath, he plucked one of the coins on his golden chains, and placed it on the ground at his feet.
If you're really powerful enough to grant my wish, then I'm sure you're able to hear my thoughts... Thane sighed heavily through his nose. Every night. Every night I pray to you. I'm a good man! I'm a good friend. A good warrior. But I have always been alone... er.. that way. I haven't strayed, and have been dedicatedly loyal to my future wife... but waiting has started to hurt for a long time now. I want to begin to know her, to love her... more than I already do. We don't need children or land of our own, we could roam the lands forever. I just want to finally meet someone who loves my soul uniquely and who I can return that love. That is what I wish for.
Thane turned then, the wind whipping around him as his wings clutched to his sides for warmth while he descended form the hill.

Cato had done this before, and he was back to ask for more. He stared at the sky and began to talk as if he were talking to a known friend. "I come from a land that found a great harmony in kalona-angeni mixes. We also utilized hawks, which were great war companions and could easily survive in the difficult environment that was the desert. I've missed having one..." the wolves were forming bonds with his family, but Cato had yet to take up one. He still hoped one day to befriend a hawk again. He let it be at that, and left to find his family.

Short IC Response: Tempy quickly trotted up to the spot that they've been blessed so many times before. This time, they offered up a piece of cloth that was made by some very crafty raccoons that gave their manes and tails a nice grooming. They did bring the whole family, so the piece of cloth had a little bit of everyone! Tempy put down the cloth and then looked up and smiled at Laer.
"We've been lucky, huh?" She thought back to the gifts they've already been given and then to the surrogate mother that was expecting. "I'm so excited and happy for everything!"
Laer nodded in agreement. "Our surrogate mother is due to have the children in baskets soon. Do you really want another child now?" The stallion laid down, his cape fanned out around him. "I mean, we've raised quite a few already, but..."
"We can do it!" She walked back and went under Laer's cape, rolling over to her back and looking at him. They both knew they've aged, but the spirit of the foal in Temperace was strong. Laer couldn't help but smile. "Okay, okay. It's not guaranteed, but at least we can try."
Both looked up to the star. "Thank you for everything," they said in unison. Temperance spoke by herself. "We're not... Asking, just hoping for more. Our family slowly grows larger and we couldn't be more happy."

What does your soquili leave as an offering for the wishing star? A piece of a worn basket from one of her previous children.
Short IC Response: When Midori spotted the special star crossing the sky, her heart raced. She knew what she would ask for and what she would offer without hesitation. Her love of foals knew no boundaries and she felt it was a good time to grow her family.
She trotted over to where she stored the baskets of her foals. She looked over them fondly, remembering how each foal was like when they first poked their heads out into the world. She remembered warm memories and heartbreaking ones, their giggles and cries and hopes and dreams. All the things a mother kept close to her heart. But she didn't have all night to stand there. Carefully, she slipped a piece from the loosened weaving of one of the baskets and made her way towards the star. Once she reached the spot, she gently put the offering down.
"Wishing Star, I think it's time to expand my family... There's nothing quite like watching a young foal grow up. I miss having one around." She smiled, and nodded to the star like it was an old friend. "If you grant my wish, I will be very grateful, and I promise the little one will grow up feeling loved and safe."
She stood there in silence for a moment, then quietly headed home.
