Name hunting.

That had been her primary goal when her time in the roguelands began, her parents had waved her off as she came of age. It was a proud time in her and her siblings life, but of course that pride was squashed when she came to learn of some changes back at home. From what she had come to understand the pride had begun to move on, find other sources to live off of - rumor had it that perhaps some were starting over.

Lilla had come to the conclusion that regardless of the outcome from those rumors she was better of fending for herself where she was now, in the roguelands. She had no inclination towards finding a new home, not yet, not while the feelings of loss were so fresh on her mind. There were days where she found herself wondering where her family had gone, just how long had it been truly and how would her story continue.

This day was no different and so she found herself staring into a calm lake with her own eyes staring back at her in a judgmental reflection.

"I know I should have gone back."

Lilla heard herself say out loud.

When he didn't want to be found (and today he really didn't want to be found), the world had a way of accommodating him. He might have been a glaring white and blue, but he had been able to lie on this rock for a considerable amount of time without being disturbed. With his stomach exposed to the sun, he had settled himself in for the long haul on what could arguably be called a day off. Sometimes when you weren't making any progress, it was just easier to get away from it all and relax.

...Thus he had been fast asleep when the lioness had taken up her position by the lake. His mentors would be ashamed to discover that he hadn't even stirred at the padding of her paws. That being said it was probably for the best, with him slumbering he hadn't been moving about and as a result he had remained shrouded in the long grasses. If she hadn't spoken he probably would have never known he was there and vice versa.

"Where are we going...?" he murmured drowsily, his eyes sliding open just a touch to examine the form in front of him groggily. He had assumed it was one of his own kind, and given he couldn't get a clear shot of her through the grass, he continued to assume as much given his sleepy stare.

"We just got here," he added. "I thought I said we'd stay here for a while..."

He paused.

"That sounds more like me," he confirmed. "Why are we moving...?"

"We are moving because my family is out there."

The lioness responded automatically, answering with a 'we' and even sitting on the statement a moment before realizing what had just happened. The immediate tones had been drowsy and casual, did he even realize she was there. "I mean, excuse me?" Lilla suddenly asked, trying to correct her failed moment of speaking. "Whose there?"

Dark blue tail moved behind her and matching ears twisted a little, she dared not move a muscle though. The attacker, if there was one, would be on her before she could make a move and so she tried to remain calm. "I've come for a drink and to contemplate life, nothing more." She stated, offering her peace. Both were true, though it was more to do with life than anything.

"My name is Lilla."

"Our families don't live out here though..." He still hadn't completely woken up, so he held the conversation in much the same fashion until Lilla realised that she wasn't actually talking to the air and there was, in fact, someone near her. It was only when she asked who happened to be there that both of his eyes opened properly and he squinted - all right, so she was actually a bit too scrawny to be a proper Viking and he hadn't picked up that many allies yet.

"Bit of a boring spot to contemplate life, if I'm honest," Tethys remarked finally and with a groan that old males tended to use, he rolled himself on to his stomach. If she had anticipated that he might move to join her, she was wrong though. Instead he merely sprawled himself out in the same fashion to a rug and rested his chin on the hard surface beneath him.

Screw moving, he wanted a break.

...He could absolutely talk from here and be fine.

"Coulda picked somewhere awesome like the mountains, see everything all around you," he added and then sighed. "Then again that's one hell of a walk and going uphill sucks major a**," he concluded. If she had any doubts that he was feeling lazy today, that probably would have reassured her that she was safe.

"But hi Lilla, I'm Tethys," he offered finally. "And I'm behind you, before you start looking under random rocks, I haven't found one I fit under yet..."

Remain calm. Her thoughts kept screaming at her, not a sure fire way to remain in such a state and yet she fought and won the battle against her nerves. When he spoke he was gruff and brutally honest bridging on rude - had she not been in the wild she'd have swatted them where they stood, but the rules were different out here and one had to adapt to stay alive. Without turning to look to him she stayed staring at the waters and other various things surrounding her.

"Boring?" Her face screwed up in a wrinkled, sour way and relaxed - she hadn't looked at him and so such a face wouldn't have done any good, but the look she made added that same sourness to her voice. "My home was the mountains and I've travelled through even swamps, neither would have helped me today." She admitted after getting ahold of her attitude. Any remaining fear she had washed away as he spoke, it was clear the male had little intention to do much more than lay there.

"You must be awful fat, I've seen a rock or two in my time that could cover you up nicely." A small grin brightened her face. "It's nice to meet you Tethys."

She hadn't turned round once, for all she knew he could be a monster. Nevertheless her body language had relaxed considerably and it seemed she had come to the conclusion that he wasn't going to hurt her. This was accurate, given that harming her would require so much effort and today was not about effort, today was about being lazy. That being said even on a non-lazy day, she'd have found him to be a relatively pleasant individual.

"Oh yes, I'm incredibly fat," he agreed wholeheartedly, the same lazy smile on his lips as he regarded the back of the lioness. "Size of an elephant, I bring shame to my family," he continued. He doubted she'd believe him on that score, but it might get her to turn around and face him as opposed to staring idly into the water.

Were there any answers to life mysteries in there? He doubted it.

"So what are we all the way out here in land-of-nothingness for?" he asked at last, genuinely curious as to what had the young lioness out in the middle of nowhere. He had a reason to be out here, she probably didn't, at least not that he could see anyway...

Finally she decided to round on him, purely to find out if he was indeed fat - though she caught on that his size indicator of 'elephant' was a joke. A small smirk grew on her maw and she stood, stretching as she did so, and creeped forward to get a better view of the lazy lion lounging before her. "Ah yes. I do see the resemblance to an elephant, your family must look away if you come into view for the shame you bring them is likely as large as your size itself." Lilla attempted to maintain a rather serious look on her face, but her eyes were lit up with laughter.

His appearance was precisely as she figured - lean and muscular, exactly the type to joke about weight like it weren't a concern in the world. "You look quite comfortable." She noted, seating herself again, tail wrapping around the front of her paws and tapping the ground gently.

"This place is only the 'land of nothingness' if you haven't an idea where to look. I'm out here seeking out my family, trying to find remnants of my home which has since dispersed it would seem." The lioness' head drooped as she admitted the loss of her family, there was hope in the fact that she may still find them, but it was obvious she had been trying for quite a bit of time. "What about you, is this purely a vacation of some sort?" She inquired, raising her head to gaze upon the pale lion again.

"I'm very comfortable," he confirmed without making the slightest effort to sit up properly. It was safe to assume he would be remaining in rug-form for the duration of the conversation unless he was required to get up for some reason. Today was going to be his 'me' day, and this pretty little thing was just going to have to put up with that. "You should try it some time," he mused and raised a brow. "Might perk you up a bit," he added as he took note of her changing demeanour.

Huh, so that was why she was out here?

"Might be able to help," he offered after a few moments of quiet consideration. His warband had been travelling considerably for a while now, they'd passed by several different prides and territories. "Where'd they disperse from?" he asked curiously and straightened just a touch. He'd let her assume he was on a vacation for the time being, it was easier that way to say the least. "Pretty sure I might know someone who would know a thing or two, we have a fair few connections..."

"Comfort is important in life." She agreed with a smile. "I'll relax when I find a home." Lilla admitted to him. "My home was in the mountains and the swamps, I've gotten extraordinarily vague information that they may have headed towards a couple different prides, but all in all I am on a wild chase." Though her head didn't droop this time her tone did change to a sadder octave.

"You may be able to help?" Ears perked up and she watched as Tethys lifted himself up a touch to better convey his words. "Do you plan on traveling? Could I travel with you?" Immediately she felt grateful, sure he was a complete stranger, but he was a stranger who had offered a paw when she really felt so alone.

"Oh please let me come then, or direct me to this individual? I'd be so appreciative."

"It's not one individual it's more like several," Tethys mused and shook his head. He had a feeling that would lighten her mood and bring her into a less melancholy state, though he didn't know whether or not any of them could help her. Granted she could certainly utilise his contacts while they were running back and forth (they could do more than one thing at once), but would she really be all that comfortable with his warband even with them on their best behaviour?

...Eh, she could always leave if she'd had too much.

"And we're all ready travelling, we've been travelling for a long time," he returned to his slumped position and relaxed again. He had no intention of moving anywhere at this precise moment in time, he was having his me-time whether she was working to a deadline or not. "If you want to travel along you certainly can, we'll be hitting up plenty of different spots for you to have a look around."

He yawned.

"Just not right now. Right now I sleep and you admire your lovely face in the water. No melancholy though, it's a me-time moment, it's a good moment. Let's enjoy our own moments," he murmured and closed his eyes again.

"Alternatively the camp is over that way," he pointed his toe just a touch but didn't open his eyes again. He was back to sunbathing, it would be up to her as to whether she waited for him or skipped a head, either way, he was still off the clock for the next while!
