They had disappeared seemingly overnight - they'd been there one moment and then the next they had been gone. If she had been under the impression that it had been a temporary absence, her decision to remain for as long as she did without them returning had long since dispelled that allusion. They were gone, she didn't know where they were and even as she had wandered through the Maestros lands there had been no indication of why they had gone either... it was as though Davy Jones himself had swept in and taken them all.

Alas, she had eventually acknowledged that they weren't coming back, and rather than live in an isolated land without so much as a whisper of companionship, she made the decision to move north. She knew there were two other prides there, both were predominantly lions, but they had scoped out one before and it had proved welcoming to individuals who weren't lions.

She could find a home there surely?

It was with this in mind that the leopardess found herself on the pristine shores of the Bahari'mtoto. She hadn't sought anyone out yet, but she would... she just needed a moment to admire the view.

It was a misconception made by many outsiders that a lion in his rank did very little. The assumption that they would lie about until they were struck by 'visions' was incorrect. Instead they were expected to assist in the daily running of the pride regardless of what it might be - some favoured being Bumani, Pombuka, or Mwani... But he much preferred to ensure that the borders were secured and so he had adopted the role of guard.

For this reason the lion had already been aware of the leopardess's entry into their lands. At a glance this wouldn't have been terribly concerning, had it not been for the fact that she was a pirate. Or rather, based on the murmurings of the former pirates who had joined recently, she would have been if their pride had still existed.

...To this day, no one had clarified what had happened there.

Alas, rather than dwell on the fate of a now dissipated pride, the lion merely closed the gap between himself and the leopard as she stared out towards the islands that were currently protected by the higher tides. It would be several hours before they would be accessible again, which was probably for the best given her rather critical stare.

"Is there something you needed?"

She gave a start as the large lion appeared behind her. She should have heard him coming, he hadn't made his approach a secret at all. In fact his paws had crunched along the sands, she just hadn't given it any thought. Perhaps it was because she had heard more than once that these creatures were peaceful... But if that was the case, why did they have islands reserved for sirens nearby? Worse, why did they seem to be allies with them?

She eventually turned to face him and pursed her lips... She hadn't exactly gotten off on the right paw with them if they were already approaching her, had she? Not that she'd done anything to give cause for concern (or at least she didn't think she had), but he was in possession of a demeanour that didn't seem to scream 'passive' to her... Evidently the Bahari had some in their ranks that may be capable of defending them.

Ah, but perhaps they were all deliberately hidden and meant to look unassuming to lull individuals in to a false sense of security!

"You're allies with sirens," she said after a few moments and nodded to the islands in the distance. "But they hate males," she clarified and peered at him. "That doesn't make any sense."

Xenon raised a brow and cast his gaze towards the fog-born Islands - evidently the Pirate had a natural disposition towards assuming that all islands were property of these 'mermaids'. He knew that one or two mermaids had since joined the Bahari, another set of victims to the otherwise unexplained disappearance of a number of prides... But for the most part they had settled in well. They might have had a natural suspicion of men, but the peaceful nature of the pride and its inhabitants had eventually assisted them in settling in.

Xenon didn't expect them to be perfectly integrated for a while.

"Those islands are part of the Bahari'mtoto and have been for a considerable amount of time," he replied and shook his head. "They are home to colonists and Bahari alike who have elected to live slightly apart from the hustle and bustle of the main pride territories," he paused briefly and returned his gaze to the leopardess. If she was looking for a fight she wouldn't find one here, and he certainly wouldn't allow her to provoke one.. His body language would have made that abundantly clear.

"One might say that not everyone is inclined towards the number of visitors we get," he pointed out.

"Now aside from scoping out our islands for a potential assault, which is highly inadvisable, was there anything else...?"

He was very forthcoming with information; so much so that she didn't really have any reason to doubt him. It was enough to cause her to glance towards the islands again... that would explain why they were allied and peaceful. There was no way the mermaids would have been so accommodating of males being this close. However this only served to make her even more curious about what and who might have resided on those islands.

...In a manner of speaking, it must be nice to have a getaway.

"I wasn't here to start any arguments or fights actually," she said finally and shook her head. She'd need to work on her diplomacy, or at least learn to not run her mouth quite as quickly.

"I was um... Looking for a home," she clarified and pursed her lips. "Mine is gone, I'm not really sure where they all went and this is one of the closest places I have," she explained. "Slightly less adventurous," she added and hazard a wry smile. "But still the sun, sand and sea that I'm used to..."

A home?

Ahhh, so she was another of the pirates who had succumbed to the case of the missing prides. She certainly wouldn't be alone here, and he gave a small nod as she made her intentions clear. She might take time to settle in as well, longer so to trust the mermaids that were here, but if her fellow pirates could do this then so could she. If she couldn't then she would (eventually) be asked to leave and find a home that she was more suited to.

He offered a small nod to acknowledge her intentions and motioned with his paw for her to follow. She would have plenty of time to admire the scenery later, for now though she needed to at least present herself to one or two of the elders in the pride to let them know that she wasn't just here as a tourist!
