Weapon description: Heart Strings is a custom weapon that Opal made based around a violin. The basic violin form has one side sweeping from the end and forward. This main area changes into the axe whenever she activates the weapon, the blade coming from inside of the arm. The strings sink into the neck of the violin so that Opal isn't cut when she uses it as an axe.

When she wants to switch to the bow form, the arm of the violin twists around and combines with the neck, keeping a recurve shape that allows her to continue to use it as a bow. She can only change to bow form by returning to standby mode if it is in axe form.

Character Description

Looks: Opal takes after her father in looks. He travelled and was recognizable by the motley of colors he wore on his clothes. Anytime a hole or tear would appear he would patch it over with a random patch of cloth no matter the color or make. She has the same thing, while her clothes are somewhat fitted to her. She wears baggy pants, with extra pockets sown on to hold whatever she finds interesting and needs to carry, while her shirt is a bit more form fitting so it won’t hinder her movement. She wears a cloak of the same patchwork, though the base silver is still seen on the underside of it. As for shoes she likes to be comfortable. She has high top sneakers, one of them grey or silver and the other white but colored by paint or markers. She also keeps her hair cut short, just past shoulder length.

Personality: Opal is a bit of a strange case. She is reserved at first, measuring a room and the people she is with before deciding how to act. She can fit in with any sort of crowd, used to mingling with the upper class of Atlas, but also not afraid to get dirty with the criminals in Haven or Vale. Hidden inside of her sleeves and pockets are tools for different magic tricks that she has mastered, as well as a number of other tools that a traveling Jongleur could use. Juliet has acted as a spy, selling information about anyone to anyone, and she has no issues with it at all.

Height: 5’2

Weight: 142

Eye Color: Her right eye is emerald green. Her left is a bright amber.

Hair Color: Brown, though she constantly adds streaks of dye into it so that the colors seen most are always shifting.

Background Information
Opal never knew her mother or if she had siblings. All she has known for her life is that her father was always travelling and making use of music, stories, magic tricks, and his wits to keep them fed and clothed. Whenever they found a place to stay for a bit, her father would have her join the school to learn. But that never lasted long.

As Opal got older she began to learn her father’s tricks and memorize his stories and jokes so she could help him in his shows. When Opal decided she wanted to help her dad with his musical performances she tried a number of instruments, eventually discovering a natural talent with a violin.

As Opal learned the skills and mastered the violin her father would take her to more upscale meetings and performances. Eventually Opal was performing on her own while her father mingled with the crowd, buying and selling information. It didn’t take too long before people began to request that Opal perform at their functions, paying large sums of money for the chance to hear Opal sing or play her violin.

When Opal was 12 she and her father were travelling along the road in Anima, Opal practicing her violin, when a lone Beowolf attacked them. Opal heard the sound of her father grabbing his weapon and turned, the bow slipping across her violin. Her father yelled at her to keep playing and Opal started playing the first song that came to her mind. When she began to play her Aura came to life and her father seemed to move faster while Opal felt sluggish. After her father killed the Beowolf he came to her and helped her develop her semblance from that moment forward. Eventually she was able to learn what song had what effect on her allies, though she could only target a few.

Several years after the incident Opal, now 17, and her father were performing at a function in support of Faunus in Haven when an explosion blew out a wall. Suddenly there were other explosions and Opal was hit by something heavy and thrown from her feet. She felt something heavy land on top of her but then nothing as she blacked out from pain. When she eventually woke up she discovered she had been knocked over by a body, caught in one of the blasts. Opal felt real terror again, searching the rubble and bodies for her father, to no avail. Either he took her for dead, left her alone, was captured, or he had been too close to a blast and there was nothing left for her to find.

Official reports of the incident labelled the attack a response to White Fang activity, but no government or group would take responsibility. Opal had a feeling deep down that it wasn’t humans involved in the attack, but the White Fang doing what they could to further their war against humans. She had no proof though. After taking a short time to heal and build a new weapon based on her father’s axe, she again took to the road to continue the work she had taught. But also to discover the truth of that worst night of her life.

Two years after the attack, Opal heard rumblings that something big was going to happen. She wasn’t sure how she could get close to the source, but decided that the most likely people to know would be the headmasters of the schools. Taking advantage of what she learned from her father, she was able to forge a transcript from Haven Academy and transfer papers to Beacon.
