Rosalyn didn't get many visitors in the winter, except for her son, Rosario. The only of her foals that really checked in on her these days, she found immense comfort in the knowledge that someone cared about her. That was the problem with a lot of Soquili, she realized. It didn't matter how many people she helped, or who she fell in and out of love with, known of them wanted to look back to her, they always wanted to move on with their own lives.
It was breaking her heart and she voiced such to her familiar, Bracken. He told her that he would always be there for her and that he would kick the next person that tried to drop in and out of her life ten times until they were black and blue. She tried not to fuss that the only way someone might stay with her these days was if her familiar threatened them. At the time, she had smiled and chided the hare, saying that her home was a place for healing and that he knew better, but now, she found herself feeling a little more than hopeless.
She was supposed to be a healer, the one that made other people feel better. But what do you do when you can't make yourself feel any better? Loneliness was a terrible disease and when people were constantly coming in and out of her life in such quick succession, it got more painful with each passing day.
It will be easier when Rosario arrives. She thought, over and over as she had been for the past few days. Once her son arrived, she could quiet the pain she felt brewing inside her chest, which felt like sludge running through her, slow and stale. He'll be along very soon, I just know it.Whoan Sorry for the late start, but here is our second RP!

The thunder of large hooves as they struck the frozen earth filled whatever gap in the normal noise winter made as an icy pelted kirin stormed through the field in search of his bear. He was far from his lands, the stupid polar bear having wandered out of the safety of his territory. Tiring, the stallion had to slow his rush. Sliding to a stop, powdery snow bellowing around him, the kirin found himself turning in sharp circles.
"Molodoy!" he roared, "Vhere are you Molodoy!?" There was no answer. As the flurry settled, the kirin bent his neck and nosed the ground. Inhaling deeply like he had seen predators do, he got the sour smell of a meat eater. A bear to be exact. Looking up, he saw the feint outline of pawprints and began to follow them at a canter. After a few tense moments where the male only focused on his breathing and the pawprints, he saw a mare. And a bear's butt sticking slightly out of a snowdrift where he could see but the hare at the mare's side could not.
He charged the bear knocking her from the snow with his chest. He reared, large body casting a threatening shadow over the bear who scuttled back a few feet as fast as she could. Crashing to the ground with an angry snort, he turned to the female.
"Should vatch for rabbit or get eaten," he panted.

You can imagine Rosalyn's look of terror when up out of no where the forest grove turned from silent to a ruckus most frightening. Bracken popped his head from his burrow and scurried towards her, ducking between her legs and shaking, while Rosalyn found herself abruptly face to face with one of the largest Soquili she had ever seen in her life and she had seen many.
Her eyes were wide with fear as she took careful steps back, looking between the blue stallion and his bear companion. Then, trying to regain her manners, she perked her ears forward in reply to his statement, though she hadn't fully understood him beneath that accent and she asked.
"I... I beg your pardon, but what did you say?" She tried to hold his gaze, but her eyes drifted towards his large hooves and then to the ground where she noticed a patch of wild flowers growing nearby, their petals frosted with ice to prevent them from shriveling up altogether, but if the stallion backed up without noticing them, he would surely crush them! That idea frightened her more than his entrance to her grove had.
"STOP!" She shouted suddenly, causing Bracken to squeak from underneath her. "Don't move a muscle, you hear me? You'll crush the flowers!" She approached then, leaving her familiar to leap back into the comforts of his burrow, deep into the underground. Nudging him with her nose, she slowly ushered the stallion to a patch of ground where his largeness could do no harm. "There we go." She said with a relieved smile, which soon turned to one of embarrassment as she realized her close proximity to the stallion and also, she realized, to his bear. Taking calculated steps, she moved away.
"Do forgive me, but I couldn't have you stepping on any of them. They're my pride and joy." She smiled again and looked up at the stallion with this expression. "I am Rosalyn. What are your names?" She inquired curiously, looking between both stallion and bear.

"You hit me father!" Molodoy grunted rubbing her head with her paws. Savva's silver eyes narrowed into a sharp glare. Just as he was to lecture the bear for running off, the mare shouted at him to freeze. His expression became one of shock and he did as he was instructed. He was gently removed from where he was standing to a new location. The mare did it for her...flowers? Savva had been snapped at over flowers? He ducked his head down to see the small frost covered blossoms better.
"Forgive you?" the stallion huffed, the flowers shifting with his breath, "For vhat? Nothing to forgive nothing to ask to forgive." He was careful not to catch anything on his wooden horn as he raised his head to look at the mare. He tilted his head to one side, his tail swaying behind him out of curiosity.
"Rosavyn..." he said his accent making the name come out different, "That is Molodoy. I kill her parent now raise her. But she vild and thick headed. I am Savva. No pretty flower vhere I live. Only cold." He bowed his head in an apology. Looking back from his bowed position he stamped a hoof to get the bear's attention.
"I sorry too. I am hungry and the rabbit looked tasty," the bear sighed giving her ruff a scratch. It wasn't proper, but that apology would do as far as Savva was concerned.

Rosalyn, suffice to say, was more than alarmed with the confession of murder. Her gaze rested upon the bear called Molodoy with sympathy in her eyes, before raising her eyes to Savva.
She wasn't sure what to make of him. He killed the bear's parent, but he was raising the cub that remained, which was kind to do so, but there wouldn't be a need for the cub to be raised if the parent hadn't been killed, but they had been so...
She closed her eyes for the briefest of moments to regain herself and then when she opened them she smiled, though her expression was a bit more guarded. "Well, you're welcome to stay here if you don't intend to kill anything. My home is a place of sanctuary for others to come and rest, I will not do for any carnage to take place." She said and then tread back into her grove. "It's nicer in the spring, when the water runs warmer through my streams, but if either of you are thirsty and take care not to crush any flowers underfoot, you're welcome to take a drink." She offered, nodding her head to the shallow streams that ran in between her flowers which ranged from wild flowers to medicinal plants to her trademark roses. "Where is it that you come fron, Savva? It sounds very far away if you can't grow flowers there."

Savva took a long, hard look around him and groaned. There were flowers everywhere and each smaller than the next. Carefully, he sat giving up on the prospect of movement. His ears went back as she told him not to kill anything.
"I kill Molodoy's parent because she try to kill me. She was starving. I may be barbarian but I am not killer," he bluntly stated, his tail curling around his hooves in a catlike fashion. He glared daggers at Molodoy who was already splashing in the stream. Moving around must be easier if you are smaller.
"I come from there. It get colder past the mountain," he used his horn to point with. He had been tracking the bear for a few hours now without rest. His breath still came in sharp gasps and pants, an unfortunate side effect for his size and strength.

Rosalyn watched with some amusement as the giant opted to sitting awkwardly, rather than laying down or standing. Such a curious stallion he was and she was starting to feel a little more secure when he suddenly pinned his ears at her. Her own flicked uncertainly and she pawed at a safe place on the ground, her discomfort clear. Lonely as she was and lonelier she would surely be when he was gone, Rosalyn suddenly felt as though she would do everything she could to make this a short visit.
"That may be, but that does not change my attitude of how I believe you should act in my home." She replied in a firm, but not unkind tone. "If you disagree with this then it would be better if you left, immediately."
The conversation shifted back to the location and hesitantly, she looked in the direction that he had gestured towards. She had never traveled from her grove once she found it, as it was her place of healing as well as those of others. Still, she sometimes wondered what other places looked like and so inquired about it.
"Is it beautiful where you come from?"

"I know," he grunted, more a pouting foal than what he really was, "I just...defend my honor. I have honor you know? Not pointless murder." Slowly, stopping every other movement, he sank to the cold ground. His ears were still back, but not from anger. More out of concern of his surroundings.
"Father I caught fish!" Molodoy crowed, a small silver fish under her paws. His ears snapped forward. Baring his teeth, Savva began shouting at the confused cub.
"Molodoy put fish back! Ve can not kill here!" he brayed. The bear slowly plopped to a sitting position, the fish already dead from laying on the cold ground. A frustrated bear sound escaped her.
"But I am hungry..." she moaned. belloblossom LOL my blunt stallion not trying to be aggressive by being aggressive.

Rosalyn was still rather perplexed by this whole situation, but the stallion seemed to have calmed down, until he started shouting at his bear companion. Curious that the bear had found a fish in her stream (she could have sworn it was just clear water) she watched the poor thing kick and then fall limp, the breath gone from its gills. Rosalyn looked sadly upon the poor thing and gave a resigned sigh.
"It's already dead, if you don't eat it front of me, you may have it." She sighed again and turned her eyes to her flowers, nosing through them carefully as she asked. "And you, Savva? Are you hungry? I don't have much, but Bracken and I have some dried grasses and nuts stored if you need to eat before you go on your way. Perhaps you could also tell me more of the land you come from before you go?" It was a fine trade, she thought. An expert one, assuming the stallion was hungry, but Rosalyn had a suspicion that he was. He had to eat plenty, given his size.

Savva rumbled, clearly unhappy with Molodoy. After a moment, he let out a deep sigh and attempted to force relaxation on himself. Molodoy carried off the pathetically small minnow to be eaten out of sight happily.
"I sorry for stupid bear. She can eat berrys and honeys, but she choose fish," he snorted with an eyeroll, "I think she try to make me proud." He was offered food as well, his stomach roared with want, but the barbarian thought it rude to take from a land that was not his and was attempting to support another for the growing cold.
"My land covers in grass and lichen vhen sun stays. Vhen cold come, all goes vite. I never notice flowers because they not food...are they?" he explained taking another closer look at a tiny yellow blossom. It didn't look like food and the sweet smell was almost unappetizing. The giant frowned at the tiny flower, perplexed by it.

Rosalyn watched the bear disappear from sight and tapped a hoof near the ground, alerting Bracken that the danger he had perceived was gone, for the time being. The pine green hare's nose emerged just slightly, quivering in fear at the scents of the newcomers and then he ducked back into his burrow. Oh well.
"I'm sure she's not stupid," Rosalyn replied. "Omnivores will eat what they can find in winter. I'm just surprised that she isn't hibernating like the local bears here."
When his stomach grumbled, she smiled and picked up a small maple leaf that was wrapped up into a tiny bundle. Within the bundle were tiny broken nuts, walnuts and acorns primarily among some dry grasses, which she placed it before the stallion.
"You can eat the leaf with it, if you so desire or I can call Bracken to undo the wrapping for you." Rosalyn said and moved to drink from one of the streams that ran through her grove, carefully avoiding any other fish that she may have not noticed before. When none made themselves seen, she drank and perked her ears to the conversation. When she raised her head, she answered the questioning look with some amusement. "Some flowers are edible, like dandelions or nasturtiums, but I don't specialize in those flowers. Mine are used for aromatherapy, that is, they are when you can actually smell them and it's in winter." She smiled, happy to be talking about one of her interests. Maybe she shouldn't be so quick to shoo her guest away, just yet.

Savva stared blankly at the mare as she explained what could be eaten and what her flowers were for. The names however went over his head. He blinked, trying not to dwell to hard on what he couldn't even pronounce. Ducking his head back to the yellow flower he had been bothering, he breathed on it melting the layer of frost. Taking in a deep breath, the stallion instantly regretted his action. The flower detached with the force of the giant kirin's sniff and went up one nostril. With a yelp of surprise, he shook his head to try to dislodge the plant. After a few moments, he felt a tickle which evolved into a powerful sneeze.
"I...that....I am sorry," the giant quietly murmured staring at the crumpled blossom. He used his horn to try to replant it to no avail. Sullen, he laid his head on the wrapped leaf full of food.
"Molodoy learned from Savva...we both kill," he sighed.

Rosalyn was beginning to gain insight to the stallion's personality the more that she spent time with him and she smiled sadly. He was... gruff and a bit much to handle at times, but he was also clumsy and kind. He was new to her lands and perhaps with him, she ought to take an educational approach or a motherly one. Maybe the two combined, even.
Again she tapped on Bracken'd burrow and when his lavender eyes appeared, he immediately saw the dilemma and rushed to replant the bent flower. By some miracle, the hare observed, its roots had also been pulled up, which meant that the stem was still in tact. He breathed a sigh of relief and carefully planted it back into the stiff ground. He loosened the ground around him and warmed it just. He added icy water from a leaf that looked like a bowl and messily dribbled water around the newly planted flower. Then with a curious look at the blue giant and a nervous smile for Rosalyn, he disappeared back into his burrow.
"There now, you see? No need to worry." Rosalyn assured Savva. "Now, please, would you eat something? I will surely be offended if you refuse my offer." She said this with a kind smile, assuring him that she wouldn't actually take offense, but that she did want him to eat.
Turning back to her flowers, she asked him. "Tell me, Savva, do you have a favorite color?"

Savva watched intensely as the hare left his safe space and replanted the flower. It still looked disheveled, but it had a chance to live now. He tail twitched and thumped against the ground as his mood shifted from disgruntled to curious. He raised his head to watch the hare before he vanished back underground. His ears pinned back as she spoke, more out of an apology than anger. Maybe even a tad fearful but not aggressive.
Hesitantly, he chewed on the leaf. It was sweet, yet bitter and nothing like anything he had tasted before. He enjoyed it. But when he got to the acorns, he made a face at their texture. Another thing he had never tasted but not his favorite. He ate them anyways out of respect, but not with a straight face.
"My color? There is not much vhere I live. I like green. But vhat color your eyes are is nice...I do not know color name," Savva replied slowly, really thinking hard on it.

Rosalyn, too busy looking through her flowers, didn't notice the faces that Savva made as he ate. She did raise her head in surprise when he remarked that he liked the color of her eyes. It had been a long time since someone had said anything of that nature to her and it filled her stomach with swimming fish.
"Oh, well... Magenta, or... Pink, maybe?" She answered with a stammer and then she smiled and added in a quieter tone, "Thank you..." Well, embarrassing as his answer had been, it did make her search easier and she walked over from the wild flowers to one of her prize rose bushes. The flowers were dark pink, the same color as the markings that ran up her legs and yes, the color of her eyes. Bending over slightly, she bit a tangled stem that was interfering with the growth of new buds and pulled it away. It had a large bloom attached to it, frosted from winter. It would wilt in a few days, now that she had removed it from the plant, but she could think of no better gift for a new friend.
She turned with the flower held delicately in her mouth and approached Savva, motioning with her head that he needed to duck his own forward. Even sitting, the stallion was much larger than Rosalyn and if she wanted to bestow her gift upon him, she needed to reach him.
When she was able to reach him, she reared back slightly and with balance and care, managed to place the rose behind one of Savva's ears and tangle the thorned stem into his mane. She doubted the tiny thorns would hurt him much, they hadn't hurt when she carried them in her mouth, at any rate.
"There. A gift of thanks from me to you." She said, stepping back to admire the flower adorned stallion with a smile. He had done her a service today, whether he realized it or not. For the moment, her loneliness had dissipated and for this she was immensely grateful. How else was a Soquili that specialized in flowers supposed to show her gratitude?
