There was the odd moment when she could play. Afina wasnt exactly a spring chicken any more, she was younger than her mate and after two very large litters that she had raised to adult she should have felt tired she supposed. She never really did feel tired though. She supposed youth was in the way of thinking. Stepping on to the sliding dunes the deep blue female slid down happily a laugh on her lips.
"Come on Tarni!" She calls looking up to the top of the dune she had just slid down.

Tarni had quietly followed her sister to the dunes. She remembered fondly days gone by that the whole family had galloped through the soft sand trying to keep their footing. It seemed like such a long time ago and she supposed in fact that it was. As her sister had said, she'd raised two litters to adulthood, and one of her sons was preparing to marry. Time flowed so swiftly. She let her meloncoly thoughts go and looked down at her blue sister with a laugh.
"Afina don't you think we are a little too old to be playing in the dunes?" She smiled shaking her head in amusement, she was surprised how energetic Afina was, she had heated that child rearing was exhausting, Afina did not look at all tired.

Afina looked up at her sister and pulled her tongue "You're never too old to have a bit of fun Tarni, come on, or are you chicken?" She smirks and flickers her tail switching to a pouncing position. "Come on, you should be wayyyy bouncier than me I'v had two litters of cubs!" She quips.

"Oh no you didn't!" Tarni laughs and dives down the hill at her sister. "Ill show you what no kids and no attachments will do for you!" She barks the sand slipping under her paws as she slid in to the recess of the dunes. Turning quickly she dives on her sister and chews her ear playfully.
"You know its gunna be a pain in the butt to climb back out of here when you're done playing!"

Afina laughs as her sister tackles her to the ground, allowing her sibling to pin her for a moment, she quickly tips Tarni off her shoulders. "It was always a pain in the butt to climb back up. That was part of the fun."
She smiles and licks her sister on top of her head before pouncing off with her tail in the air like a big kid.

Tarni shook her head bouncing after her sister "I guess you're right. It was always the effort of clim, bing out of finding the foot hole to get you up." She smiles lightly "You know I'm sure these dunes used to be taller." She sighs and bolts after her sister nipping at her tail happily.
"You know you're pretty fast for a mother." She snerks catching up to her sibling nudging her shoulder roughly.

The deep blue lioness lost her footing as Tarni nudged her and she slipped sideways in to the dune her paws leaving the ground. "Tarni! Not so rough! I am as you say a mother I have children to look after!" She sighs, she didn't actually have any children to look after at the moment, her children were all grown and making their own lives, she knew that but she was still a mother deep down.
Letting out a deep breath she allowed herself to roll down the sandy hill a little and curled in to a blue ball. "Tarni help me up." She whines.

Tarni rolled her eyes and moved to her sister laying down next to her. She grooms her sisters ears quietly and sighs "Afina, haven't you ever thought, that there's more than just this?" She tilts her head curiously curling in closer to her slightly older sister. They were after all from the same litter they were the same age, she was just the last.

Afina looked at her sister, her brow furrowed, and she looked deeply thoughtful. "Sometimes, sometimes I look out past the borders and wonder what is out there beyond the world I was born in to. Then I look back though, I look back and see that the world i live in the world I love is everything I need." She smiles at her slightly younger sister and licks her cheek. "I understand about being restless though, I worry all the time about my children feeling the wonderlust though. Their father used to be a rogue after all. Luckily, they've all stayed here so far." She sighs leaning in to her sister.

Tarni looked at her sister and nodded gently. "It will be okay. Even if they go they will come back, you're too good of a mother for them to leave on some journey somewhere." She smiles and turns her gaze up towards the top of the dunes. "Come on, I'm sure your guy is looking for you and I need to get to work."
She gets to her paws and stretches "I'll race you up the hill!" She snips bolting off up the hill.

Afina sighs happily, she nodded and watched as her sister bolted up the hill. "Hey, slow down I'm coming." She laughs, she was glad her sister thought she was a good mother even if that wasnt her sisters priority, she thought maybe one day she would have a litter of her own.
Following her sister up the sliding incline she nudges her gently and bolts off towards home. "Don't work too hard Tarni!" She calls back kicking her heels up as she raced off down the sands towards the waiting dens and hopefully her waiting mate.

Tarni watched as her sister bolted off and she gave a sigh. priorities, she wasn't sure if she had them straight or if her sister did but what ever was correct they had each chosen their own path. She smiles and nods sagely turning towards the alchemists, she liked to take in at least a little of their work "You too Afina." She calls plodding off down the sandy shore.
