Panting under the weight of the bags that looped over her arms, Daisy ducked into the Sugar Cube for a moment, thinking that a drink and snack were just what she needed to force her second wind into appearing. Pooling her bags against the wall next to one of the small tables, she went to the counter and studied the menu.
As she read, she thought that it might've been nice if she'd had any clue if this place was good or not. So far, all the recommended it was the cute name and proximity to where she'd been standing when she'd decided to take a break from shopping.

Danny had just clocked out for his lunch break, leaving her to man the counter and the machines for the moment. She had learned enough things to be proficient with most drinks by now and could generally make it through thirty minutes during slow time by herself. She glanced up from where she'd been wiping down the counter when someone else made their way into the cafe, flashing her a friendly smile. "Welcome to the Sugar Cube. What can I do for you?"

Smiling back at the girl behind the counter, Daisy gestured helpless at the menu boards.
"I've never been in here before and I am about to hulk out from hunger. What's good in this place?"
Left unsaid was the fact that unless she really needed something, she generally avoided the mall like the plague. Instead, she rubbed at her hair sheepishly.
"I'd like to avoid anything too sweet or heavy if possible."

"Well, for someone who doesn't want anything too sweet I should probably warn you that you're standing in a place called the Sugar Cube." A soft smirk touched her lips as she turned her head to glance up to the menu board. "What kind of flavors do you like to go along with the not too sweet? Cream cheese, cinnamon, coffee-- Tea?" Her brow quirked as she grabbed one of the paper menus to look over again on her own.

"Okay, lemme clarify. I just don't wanna have to dump half a salt shaker down my throat to counteract the sugar," Daisy laughed and visibly brightened at the mention of cream cheese and cinnamon. "Tea is good. So is cream cheese and cinnamon."
As if to emphasize this, her stomach growled audibly, causing Daisy to laugh even harder.
"Okay, how about this. Iced tea with lemon and a cinnamon roll?" she tossed out after having scanned over the menu and spotted the items in question.

"How about... Chai instead? Iced or latte. It will go a lot better with the Cinnamon roll than lemon will. The idea is to find flavors that go well with one another so you can enjoy both things simultaneously instead of everything one at a time." As she heard the other young woman's stomach growl she grinned, pushing away from the counter. "Let me get that cinnamon roll warmed up for you while you think about the tea again. Tell me what you decide when you've finished pondering."

"Who'm I to argue with the expert? Let's do an iced Chai then."
Grinning sheepishly, she watched the girl as she went to fetch the cinnamon roll. Normally, she wouldn't get so much sugar, but she was hungry and as a once in a while thing, it wasn't going to hurt her that much. Besides! She'd done responsible adult stuff, so why not have a bit of a treat to reward herself.
Thanks for the advice, by the way. I don't normally eat sweets, so I am totally clueless."

"Well, just for you I've got the house special today. This fine cinnamon roll is made with a sugar substitute. I know, I know-- Usually terrible, right? These ones, amazingly, are good enough that I can pass one off on a friend who's an absolute sugar junkie. We'll make the chai a vanilla one too-- Sweetens the flavor on its own so you have to add a little less sugar on the back end." Learning and listening to the needs of customers was something that had been stressed to her during training. If they could help out in the slightest with the decision making it generally meant a happy customer who'd make their way back to the Sugar Cube. "Love your hair, by the way. Do the color yourself?"

Sugar substitutes? All Daisy could think of was that Equal crap her parents had used when she was tiny. Still, artificial sweeteners had come a ways since. So maybe it wouldn't be terrible. And if the girl had a sugar junkie friend who couldn't tell the difference...
"Can't wait to try it. And thanks," Daisy grinned and touched her hair a little self-consciously. "I try to to save money, but some times it's easier to go to the salon and let them handle it. How about you? I love the ombre."

"You're welcome." She smiled brightly as she set the iced chai down after stirring in a bit of sweetened cream before tapping a lid onto the cup and passing it over. "Definitely easier to go to the salon. Sometimes I'll touch the ends up on my own when the lighter color starts fading faster than the darker, but I usually let a salon do the hard work. It's my guilty pleasure treat to myself." She grinned.

Laughing as she accepted the cup, Daisy took a sip and grinned. As promised, she couldn't tell that something other than sugar had been used.
"Hey, folks gotta treat themselves or risk going nuts. I may need the number for your salon though. Mine can't do ombre to save their lives and it's something I'd like to try at least once. Also, this drink rocks, you rock and if the cinnamon roll is half this good, I may nominate you for some form of sainthood."
Still sipping, she had to remind herself to leave some to help wash down her roll with.

"Name's Kat, if you need to put one of those down for sainthood nominations, and I'm generally here at least three days a week-- Mostly on Fridays." She waved at the other young woman before stepping back so that she could assist the next guests to step up to the counter; a grandmother shopping with a small creature making more noise than necessary. "Stop back in and I'll make sure I've got one of their cards with me next time!"

"Daisy. And I'll do that."
With a parting wave and smile, she took her food back to her table and inhaled it. Yep. She was gonna find a way to put Kat up for sainthood. As she finished her roll, she side-eyed the grandmother and child duo and decided that much as she might like to try to talk further to Kat, the kid was too noisy. Plus the whole, this was Kat's job and she really didn't want to get her in trouble thing.
With a sigh, she took care of her trash before gathering her bags back up and heading for the door.
"Thanks again, Kat," she called as she left. "See you some other time!"
