He was exhausted; despite Raja's orders and Onesimos's insistence, he hadn't wanted to simply relax for an extended period of time. On the contrary, he had wanted to return to a place that had seemed familiar. At the time he hadn't been able to put his paw on it, but there had been something about those caves that had caused him to experience a large amount of deja vu... He'd been there before, or at least he had been there in a part of it.
...Or so he thought.
Thus, having tossed the supplies he had received to each of his chosen alchemists, he had set about returning to the place he had been redirected to the first time. The home of the blind master had been burnt in to his memory from the very first encounter. He had traipsed about that god forsaken forest for hours, wasting away much of his day, and then he had been turned away by the individual who deemed him unworthy of assistance.
And yet for some reason he had mysteriously found himself back in those caves; moved their by force, and then systematically tortured until he had almost died. In fact, Tethys would go so far as to declare that the aim probably had been to kill him. It should have come at no surprise that the lion wanted answers and the blind master was going to give them to him whether he wanted to or not. Despite Onesimos's protests they had returned to the very place they had seen him before, however on this occasion he remembered how he had gotten up the first time, and climbed the correct way to the black lion's preferred perch.

There it was, the self entitled declarations of a child that still believed he knew everything. As Tethys stormed up to his perch the black lion glanced over his shoulder. Suffice it to say that the white lion had quite the expression on his face, one that Gideon imagined he deemed absolutely necessary. Gideon was curious as to what he had done to receive the white lion's ire, but based on his current disposition it seemed that the elder lion wouldn't have to wait long for an answer.
Nevertheless, he pulled himself to his feet and turned around as manners dictated. He might have sat down again immediately after, but at least he was now facing the child who deemed it appropriate to tramp about like an rhino. He truly was the noisiest lion that Gideon had encountered in a while, even his hybrid companion had been much quieter... In fact Onesimos was still being quiet, though Gideon assumed he might be moving down below.
"Quite the entrance," Gideon remarked as he leveled his gaze on the younger lion and raised a brow.

"You know why!" Tethys snapped and sucked in a breath. "You tried to kill me in these caves," he stated and swept his paw round to point down into the darker pit below. He remembered the winding caverns, none of which had led to this bloody lion when he had first been invited up to his perch. The damp smell, the poor lighting, they were the same... Or rather most of it was the same, the lighting had been worse in those more deadly caves but there hadn't been any exits at the time either.
"And I want to know why," he continued. "What could I have possibly done to warrant your intervention?" he demanded and narrowed his eyes. "You already told me that I was losing time, that I would kill everyone if I didn't figure things out -"
He took a breath.
"Was this what you meant? That unless I figured it out I would be thrown into some into your games?" the snarl remained ever present on his lips, made worse by the elder lion's neutral expression.
"I know it was these caves, they smelled the damn same!" He hissed.Words: 192

Aha, so they had moved on to the next stage.
Gideon's expression remained unreadable as Tethys made his speculative remarks. He certainly had reason to be angry, if the Captain had encountered who Gideon suspected he had, then the last few weeks would not have been kind to him. In fact, as the black lion flicked his gaze over the captain it became clear that he had met the individual in question. Adar'malik had never been a kind lion, he'd always been regarded as rather brutal and a complete beast... But Destati had always trusted him and Gideon saw no reason no to either.
...Just because someone had to do the dirty work didn't mean they could be pushed aside because you didn't have the capacity to do it yourself.
Still, if such steps had already been taken then Gideon could do nothing more than observe the results of this particular encounter and judge what he saw with what little information that was provided. First and foremost he had an angry lion on his paws, secondly that lion was still arrogant, and thirdly... he was spouting off accusations with only sparse details to support it. In short, Tethys was still much too focused on his own anger to be of any use to them yet.
Ah, but it was time to speak.
"The vast majority of caves smell the same," Gideon pointed out smoothly and motioned to the pit below him. "You are welcome to explore each and every one of these caverns if it will settle your nerves, but I have no knowledge of the games you speak of," he murmured. He paused briefly as he regarded the lion and released a heavy sigh. "I believe we had this discussion before, though not in such circumstances -"
"...I cannot help you until you are able to see beyond what you think is there," he closed his eyes for a moment. "When you are able to see beyond what you perceive to be there, so that you can reveal what is actually there, then I will be able to help you."
"But feel free to tear apart my home if it will satisfy you, I am not entirely sure what it is you are trying to find."

This lion was immovable, a completely emotionless...rock.
His sister probably would have described Gideon as 'zen', an individual who wasn't so easily riled up or provoked by the smaller things in life. Tethys could only assume that Gideon perceived all of this to be trivial, and when he spoke it became apparent (in his mind) that this was correct. Gideon neither denied or confirmed Tethys's accusations, at most he hinted at innocence. Instead, Gideon had simply laid out a path for him to follow, again.
If Tethys wanted answers then he was going to have to trudge about and find them. If he was right then he would find those hellish caverns again and be vindicated, then what would the elder say? But if he was wrong, then what...
A part of him suspected that the lion had no intention of moving, this perch was very much his, and yet despite the back of his mind nagging him to drop it, the white lion found he couldn't. He wanted to be right, he had to be right, this constant insistence that he was blind was wrong. He could seen just fine, he'd even seen in those damn caves!
...Except by Gideon's remarks, he's only seen what he wanted to see.
His lips parted as he went to protest again, and yet he found his paws moving away to leap back down into the pit. It was there that he would spend several hours in the company of Onesimos, traipsing through tunnels in an attempt to find those fabled caverns. Alas they were to be wasted hours...for there were no great caverns of sulfur, not caverns filled with rocks from impromptu landslides... No, they really had been the wrong caves.
It had been with a furious yell that he took his leave, storming from the cavern in much the same way as a small child, all while the elder lion had looked on from his perch.
...He still had a ways to go yet.Words: 333 Total Words (Tethys): 816
